Yoon Jin-A (Son Ye-Jin) is a single woman in her 30's. She works as a supervisor at a coffee company. Yoon Jin-A is an easygoing person, but she feels empty inside. Seo Joon-Hee (Jung Hae-In) is the younger brother of her best friend Seo Kyung-Sun. He comes back to South Korea after finishing work abroad. Yoon Jin-A though he was just a childish guy, but he appears different to her now.

Exquisitely directed and acted, this love story between the lead actors has been portrayed with such tenderness and vulnerability, despite the harsh cultural pressures surrounding them. It’s not an easy task to express the fragility of love - the “slow burn” showing the depth of intention to love, the vibrant and micro expressions showing the joys and burdens of love; brilliant lead actors and fine support cast each carrying their role so well - overall fine performances that truly captivate the heart!! MJ Jun 24 2025 6:49 pm I've watched this about a third time over the last 6 years in between many other K-and C-dramas. To me it remains one of the best romantic Kdramas. For one,these two leads are amongst the best in Kdrama world - beautiful and very talented SYJ and very charming boyish and also great actor JHI. Their visuals, like the CLOY couple are perfect. The twists and turns in their work settings and their family relationships and how they navigate these are well played out. The story just about wraps the many stereotypes of characters in Korean social milieu - parents who rule over the life of their kids, male-dominated workplace, social taboos of age-gap relations... these are the challenges facing the otherwise sweet relationship of the leads. Their ability to stand up to all these challenges and their own weakness of character, especially Jin-a, is at the core of the story. As their love triumphs in the end, I am happy that love wins. Of course, I agree that the background music was overplayed annoyingly.

Coyotebeaut Feb 25 2025 1:01 pm This is my 4th Kdrama- EAW, Ht cha cha and CLOY I’ve been enchanted by the OTSs, have them on my Apple Music, I’ve become enchanted listening to the Korean language, ok you know where this is going…I have to mute all the songs, at least the subtitles let me know when they are over. I’m up to Episode 6 now, and the tension between the new lovers and their secret is growing. It is a claustrophobic cage both at work and especially at home. Kdrama Llama Feb 11 2025 10:55 am All the usual grumbles aside about the endlessly repetitive soundtrack (!) and the FLs terrible mum, I really enjoyed this show, which was both my first noona romance and first Jung Hae In experience as a late convert to the church of Kdrama…!

I thought the main couple’s relationship was believable, their chemistry was strong and they did well portraying the conflict between expectation (family, society, for self) and desires. The secondary storyline of office politics and the role of women in the workplace added more depth and texture to the show. The MLs sister was a highlight for me too, I wanted to be her friend by the end of it!

Many of the comments about this show have some truth to them: That country song sticking by your man makes no sense in this show, is over-played and might have made sense if it was about sticking by your woman. In this show the FL has a reputation for causing trouble and at first you might think it's because she's insecure or clueless, but her constant lying makes her seem just cruel and stupid. Maybe in some odd way she takes after her mother who isn't stupid but very cruel as others have pointed out. It is fun to see her husband yell at her. Then there's the ML. I have to agree with others that there's just no chemistry between the ML and FL. Son yi is better in dramadies. This is not a terrible show but like others, there were times when fast forwarding is a good option.

Joycares Jan 21 2025 8:16 am I enjoyed this drama so much that I would wish to but Son Yin ji's character and that of her mother here almost gave me really headache She was too immature. She claimed Jun-hee made her a better person but in real sense it trained her to be selfish, self centered and obnoxious to Jun-hee, he was at the receiving end of it all even when he tried to support her. She made it hard for him to support her completely. She kept lying to him on several occasions and not trusting him completely to lead her..

The mother on the other hand, I almost killed. I guess she was that good of an actor cause I was on the verge of killing her through the screen. Well Koreans culture at its peak

I hated how they portrayed the company and her colleagues. How the Kang se-young made her the bad egg. How she had to bear the brunt of everything. I hated how she accepted all they dished to her without her fighting for herself. (The only place she could stand her ground was with the one person who supported her and needed her to support him too. I hated that about the movie)

Episodes 14-16 gave me bad vibes. I kept fast forwarding till the end. Overall minus the last 3 episodes I would give it 8/10

coco Oct 08 2024 1:16 pm honestly i loved it. so cosy and so real. amongst all the chaos they shared such a gentle kind of love. that last episode shattered me..

maybe you just have to experience a similar dynamic in real life to understand why the characters are the way they are. jina being older doesn't mean she's always going to be mature. reality is, we tend to melt in the arms of our partner and we are bound to act in childish ways. even if junhui is younger, you need to consider that he's the man of the relationship and will soften up towards his girl to help lessen her baggage. i think junhui portrayed a very realistic balance as an immature younger guy but also as a grown man. he stepped up where he could and protected her and their relationship, which was truly admirable in my eyes.

remember how jina said she was now too grown to leave with him? even then junhui was willing to leave everything behind in a heartbeat for the sake of their relationship, which reminds us in that moment of his youth and their age-gap dynamic.

the rage, frustration, the back-and-forths, the passion, the warmth.. there were a lot of emotions involved but overall it was definitely worth a watch! my tip is to go in knowing you need to be able to view the drama from multiple different angles.

What were they thinking - most of the time I was on speed forward cos of that nuisance! Junhui Sep 17 2024 12:39 pm I started watching this , and I cannot tell you how mature this movie is . Firstly it depicts reality of a lot of Asian culture and family problems. Nobody is behaving immature here or trying to be a hero … in reality everybody is working on themselves through the problems they face … that’s what growing up means… you start realizing things as it comes .Evolution happens here !!! I have seen lot of rom coms and this one is close to heart .. coz that’s how it happens .. love brings frustrations, disappointments and identifying your own self .

This so-much-in-love couple do it all the time, again and again. It is terrible and horrible any time, but much worse at the beginning of a relationship. It is sad. It is cruel. It says that you don't trust your loved-one.

Tom Powell Mar 25 2024 7:21 pm Unlike many of the reviews here, I found the story ordinary and weak. There are so many K Dramas and some fall into the run of the mill category. Son Yi can be seen in Crash Landing On You and Thirty Nine. Both of those shows are superior to this one with Crash Landing way ahead of the field. This show drags and unfortunately the boy she falls in love with comes off more juvenile and arrogant than sweet and charming. This is nothing like the chemistry she had with her later to be husband in Crash. I could not find myself rooting for the couple here. Although, I was rooting for her to find herself.

Rodolfo Glenton Feb 23 2024 7:02 pm Well until episode 8, in which one as a viewer ends up evidencing a kind of mental backwardness - the script calls it immaturity? - of the protagonist when she leaves with the stalker and perverse ex-boyfriend. And, for a telephone! Very sad resource of the screenwriter and the direction, causing a huge setback in female acting. From this episode on, the mental backwardness, or emotional incapacity and comprehension, is shown more and everything acquires an unbearable pathos.

And to top it all off, the female character, now an gilipolla, agrees to go on a blind date arranged by her mommy. From that episode on, I couldn't stand the rest of the episodes, so I watched them fast-forward, just to get to the last one and see how the whole thing ended. And yes, it ends with enormous pathos: ruined lives where the perpetrators and those affected apologize to each other. And... then, despite so much disaster and ignominy, a happy ending. Unbelievable!

It should be made clear to those concerned that melodrama is in no way synonymous with pathetic. Furthermore, and not least, putting it as a constant in a woman offends her dignity.

Finally, it is still very strange and surprising the awards that Korean entities have given to this very unfortunate series. One wonders what are the quality parameters used in such a qualification.

Once again, very unfortunate that good actresses like Ms. Son Ye-jin have to accept these very demeaning roles for women. It gives a glimpse of how infamously talented actors and actresses have to do and give in, disciplined, to survive and stay in the business.

Barbara Nov 05 2023 1:48 pm How hard it is to walk outside cultural grooves? Even if you want to so desperately, the walls inside and outside are so high, the gates and locks so heavily guarded, good luck. Even if the culture wants to change, even if YOU want to change, good luck with that. There are so many authentic reasons the two main characters need to save each other, and care about what happens to the other, and screw up anyway. This story is so psychologically interesting (every character wants the best, and is wearing self-sabotaging blinders of some kind). The music person should be fired and sent to Siberia, I agree, but otherwise, it’s a fascinating puzzle. And ultimately worth the effort.

They are horrible country music which i hate, and didn’t fit the story at all, would have been better with no music. If it isn’t Elvis on stage singing it it doesn’t work.

MauiMama Aug 06 2023 12:18 am Great acting because I literally wanna Slap Jin-a across the head for how frickin stupid she is, and how she keeps apologizing in that passive-aggressive way... who in their right mind could ever tolerate someone like that is beyond me! Jun Hui is too good to be true - I'm not even finished watching but I'm hoping he moves on and finds someone worthy of his heart.

And yes, the songs are All Wrong... it's like they paid for 4 songs and just decided to use each one as many times as possible to get their money's worth. And is it just me, or do all the older men seem to be super-Ewwww in this show, like perverts? Even Jun Hui's dad comes across as sketchy. I was cringing so much...need a break or I'll start throwing things...

The best matured and interesting romantic drama I have ever watched. The casts did great and thel script was written perfectly. The songs used was very perfect and lovely.

Devina PS Jul 01 2023 12:59 pm This one is one of my favorite K Dramas. I've already watched it twice. I really enjoy the acting, especially the acting!, not just the two main actors but all of them. Buuuuut... *it's always had a weakness one or two, Gyu Min's character is unbelievable, he's too dumb to be a lawyer esp it said that he is from a great law firm. He can't even defend his own self.

And I like the stand by your man", "save the last dance" etc, I understand what kind of atmosphere the director wants to show but the lyrics is not match man...

It was exceptionally well written and executed by the actors, directors, and production staff. They beautifully captured not just the roller coaster ride we all know love to be. But, the essence of every twist, turn, up and down with the music, lighting and editing. I will not soon forget this series, as it is one of the best I’ve seen. Bravo!! Definitely a 10 out of 10 from the Russian Judge!

Cadita May 27 2023 8:13 pm My number one complaint: the soundtrack was Awful Awful Awful - I started muting it so I would not hear "stand by your man" a billion times - it was torturous. (The lyrics of that song do not even fit the circumstances - at any point) Did they have a low music budget and had to reuse and reuse and reuse it? The person singing did not have a voice which fit the song, either.

That huge minus aside, I am glad I did not read the (bad) online reviews prior to. Aside for the music issue, I really liked it. (I watched it as Son Ye Jin was in it) The two leads had phenomenal chemistry. The depiction of their early relationship was absolutely adorkable. Def swoon-worthy

Many complain about the insecurities of Jin-ah's character, but having been the older female in a couple (& one who has endured workplace sexual harassment) I understand her insecurities about the relationship & some of the odd things she does - main exception being her obedience toward the mum. Also, I would also carve out what she is doing (as I am watching right now) the Jun-hui dad situation. I would SO not do any of that (won't say more or it would be a spoiler).

Jin-Ah's mum was a nightmare from the depths of h*ll. She was unkind to pretty much every person in the show except she was downright brutal to both of the leads & her husband. (I have not finished watching the whole show. I REALLY want the husband to dump her - I am going to pretend that happened even if it does not happen in the show.) You wonder WHY Jin-Ah was a mess - look at the way she was treated by that character. It is one thing to brutalize your own child, but when she ripped Jun-hui's heart out - I was screaming.

I was riveted to every single episode this is an adult series for the serious minded. Kudos to everyone involved.

Elvera May 24 2023 11:04 pm In every Korean movie or drama that I've ever seen this has got to be one of the best acted one of them all. The script, all hands down is absolutely excellent, the actors every single one of them have given depth to the characters. No fancy sets we're scenery just plain down to earth portrayal of a very serious subject when it comes to the mental attitude of the parents and the control they tried to exert over their adult children. I have watched this again on several occasions and each time I have it reveals something new. Kudos to all involved.

The relationship between the leads was sweet but they acted like children most of the time with themselves, and never did the director let them have a chance to display any kind of sexuality; give me a break with all those little pecky kisses! And why oh why did they tolerate each other's lies (no matter how unselfish the lies were supposed to be)? So unrealistic. I adore and respect the talents of Ye Jin and Jae In as actors but because of the writing and directing, they did not shine for me here and their chemistry seemed forced. And don't get me started on the soundtrack! All in all, the story dragged on longer than necessary, some scenes were redundant, and it was simply a poorly executed drama.

It was a great start, it was cute seeing Seo Jun Hui (Jung Hae In) crushing and having a hard time saying his emotions to Yoo Jin-Ah (Son Ye Jin) and Yoo Jin Ah being confused to her feelings. But when they start being together, I found it boring and a lot of dragging scenes. I did find their relationship bit weird at the start especially that Jin Ah is the older sister of Jun Hui's friend. They look cute together but somehow the chemistry between them is lacking. Other than their wide age-gap relationship the other problems tackled in this drama was great, like how women are treated in the workplace, family problems, etc.

Overall I'll just rate this a 6/10. Out of all the characters, I only find Seo Jun Hui memorable. In my opinion Jung Hae In carried this show.

The story is so well done and the actors portray their characters so well that I hated for it to end but was so thankful that it ended so well. I hope to see more similar storylines from this writer. I always look for these actors in other dramas as well.

Chuck Nov 16 2022 5:09 pm I am not usually into romantic series however this one really got to me,. I have watched it twice and will undoubtedly do so again.

The chemistry between the two stars was excellent, the acting was great ( no matter whether or not you liked the characters they brought to the screen) the storyline very realistic, especially having lived in Asia for the past 20+ years. To me, in spite of some naysayers here, the ost was what brought the whole dimensions of emotions together so much so that at times my stomach was tied in knots. Some complained it was too drawn out but that is what life is with real people in love. Those long walks in the rain or elsewhere, are often what brings two people closer together I would heartily recommend this series to anyone that still believes in "True Love".

However, the music was a repetitive 3 songs which I like but still…….and I think Joon-Hee is quite a good actor. I ‘ve seen a few of his works. I also like Jin-A, and loved Crash Landing on you. Lucky her to have Hyunbin !!!!! They are a smashing couple. I thought the series had good actors and the actress that played the mother was so good that I actually hated her! Hahahah. Korea has a lot of social stigma’s that I am glad aren’t here.

Brian V Sep 22 2022 1:11 am Such an annoying series, especially all the flashbacks with the series soundtrack playing. By the 15th Netflix episode (29 & 30), I wanted to see him just dump her, so selfish.

The first 8-10 episodes (15/16-19/20) it was a nice relaxing story. Sure there were difficulties, but the overall feel was relaxing, like One Spring Night.

This series is way down the list for recommending to others.

Patricia Jul 11 2022 6:07 pm The drama was a little slow for me I’m watching it now. I hate hate the music. This is the worst OST I’ve ever heard in the 12 1/2 years I’ve been viewing Korean dramas. And they play the stupid same songs almost every episode. I skipped through them. The drama is kind of slow but I like to leads. I don’t think I finished it though

The storyline and how it was executed is so realistic, psychotic mother included. I know a mother like her so her potrayal did not shock me. Of all the Kdramas I watched, theirs is my favorite love story. They do not pretend to be overly innocent and their sweetness is not awkward or forced. would have loved it if they really dated even if just for a short while...lol.

Son Ye Jin & Jung Hae In brought magic to the screen on this one. The entire cast was memorable. Thank you Screenwriter & Director for the consummate pleasure we get from this drama. Jasjit Feb 28 2022 11:50 am For sure it was one if my most favourite drama. I like Son Ye Jin as I have watched her drama. Sh eis really goid very natural actress. Watched Jung Hae In for the first time . Loved him. Will watch his other dramas too. son Ye Jin and Jung Hae In were very good and natural together- their chemistry was to die for. The love in Seo Join Hi the charater for Yoon Jin A was ao beautiful - he should it through his eyes his aoftness in his body language the respect he gave her. At times I did feel that Yoon Jim A used his love for her own ulterior motive - she did what she wanted to then just turn back and say I am sorry- number of times. But her love showed for him also in her actions ! Jang So Yeon as the sister dos a very real and caring job - for her friend and brother , even though Yoon Jin A’s family disrespected her. Loved her. The mother Hummm! She is another story. Gil Har Yeon did a good job of playing the nasty - has her own Agenda _ just cares for herself. She was one nasty lady. A bit overacted but okay. I liked Oh Man Seok - he did a very nice job as a father a weak one though - who kept the family together. It did talk about the taboo relationship of a older women and you ger guy- which was shown beautifully. Yet, so real - office sexual harassment, this is a problem everywhere and the women face so much. . It was shown verywell. One could relate with it. Thank you. Would love to watch Son Ye Jin and Jung Har In together more. They have a very strong chemistry and compliment each other .

raven Feb 10 2022 12:12 pm I just finished this show and their romance felt so sweet and real. I love their chemistry and how much love they share. I wish the ending wasn't so rushed because I expected more payoff after their long time apart. I also wish we could've seen the parents' reactions when they got back together. I'm glad she quit her job and moved away because she was being treated so unfairly. And it was hinted that she won the sexual harassment case but I wish they showed it more of how that played out.

The mother of Jin a and and Jin a herself annoyed me from the episode 12...I only felt everything for joon hee and his sister, their own father plus Jin a and her family really did them dirty. After watching Son Ye-Jin in this, and Crash Landing on You, I have the feeling that she is the greatest actress of this era. In my view, her skills surpass those of most female Hollywood actors and rival those of any actors in the UK. The characters are all portrayed. very realistically. I found myself wanting to get on a plane to Seoul to visit the family home and throttle Jin-a’s mother. Workplace harassment and bullying seems to be an issue worldwide and is addressed in a very real, if depressing way. Heart-wrenching moments as Jin-a is bombarded with criticism from all sides. This is another 10/10 for me.

The script, the photography, OST, and of course the acting is superb. The leads, the parents both are genuine, the best friend, brother and the sister. The true chemistry between Son Ye Jin and Jung Hae In is heart breaking, you can see it in their eyes, especially him. The story tackles many taboos so well. It is a joy to watch and a great choice by Netflix. Put them together again. The harassment in the work place was realistically but not well resolved. Only fault. The ending so good, they have a chance. Could have been longer. Great direction, his best.

Ughhh no matter what she does, she’s just annoying. And also Jin Ah-ssi why do you keep lying to Joon Hee just tell him the truth when you moved and how you feel. It doesn’t hurt to be just open to your partner. In order for your relationship to last long and work you have to be open towards each other. So frustrating?

She‘s like her mother, only thinks about herself. You can see how often she lied to Jun-hui and then played the victim and blamed him when she got caught. I really can‘t stand her and Jun-hui is waaaay to good for her.

The younger guy played by Jung Hae In is so realistically in love with her, so nervous in the beginning because she’s so beautiful. He doesn’t even have to act, he just has to be in love with her. SYJ plays her part with depth and talent and a lot of realism. I think their chemistry was genuine and we should see more of it.

I think the two characters in the romance have a real chance for a future. These days a six year age gap is nothing. Go Jin Ah, I think his love is strong enough to break the taboo - you’ll both live happily ever after and never regret it.

Superb actor with goddess-like beauty!

I do not need another season. This is already perfect. I dont mind watching it over and over again.

People knock Jin A and why she holds back, she is older and her family will disapprove - this shows she worries for him and for them, can she break the taboos? She is so beautiful even though she was dressed in plain old clothes and the chemistry between them was perfect, so good that you feel it is real. Joon hui is young and inexperienced, so they both have their own hurdles to get over. Their love story is realistic for the facts of their situations and it is heart warming and understandable. The sexual harassment situation was well played, the parents were both good and true to Korean culture. The brother and sister acted well too and Ms Geum. The ending was needed to round off the story satisfactorily, but could have been 5 minutes longer.

Son Ye Jin and Jung Hae In should pair together again if Hyun Bin lets them! He’s never been as good with another partner, his chemistry here is touching and realistic, he’s better at non romantic parts but his sincerity comes across. Beautifully written and directed. I give it 10 whereas I give One Spring Night 4.5 even though it’s the same director and many of the same cast.

So ideal of a boyfriend. Just that it is so rare nowadays.The character played as Jin a is sometimes annoying that shes always into trouble he he he. I am so angry that the mother is still nosy of her children considering that they are at their legal age. All in all.. I'll give a 4.5 stars..

As a 60ish American female I am stunned at how well written and timely this series is and how well issues and Norma and culture clashes are highlighted. The Music is ridiculously annoying and I agree that many scenes were too long, however, to portray a young man as admirably as this guy was amazing to me. As just as amazingly acted as well...very surprised at how much I enjoyed it and them as a couple.

It's a masterpiece of a very specific type of love & infatuation. Jin-A is jaded, more closed, & beaten down by patriarchal norms, while Joon-Hee is a totally open & brave egalitarian. The ending is realistic in the sense that some people love hard enough to overcome damaged or closed partners. It's rare, yes, but it happens.

Her soft mentality and the way she stands up to sexual harassment was really good. But slowly her character turns so annoying. Her constant lying wit Joon Hee, the way she acts annoyingly cute during serious discussions, the way she takes all her frustration on joon he ridiculously but kept apologising others for no reason, the way she played games in the relationship everything about her makes viewers irritated till the end. She turns out to be a real mean and selfish character

I felt the writer just want to close the show by giving a happy ending with many loopholes in the story. The sexual assault done by Jin a first ex in coffee shop, her sexual assault complaint in office is left open as if it makes no sense. Neither Jin-a nor her family apologised to Joon Hee or his sister for constantly hurting them. No one cares about Joon Hee’s feelings tough she is the sweetest of all

Joon Hee’s father return made no sense to the story at all.

Still u want to give 10 only for the male lead. The female lead though I love her in CLOY, in this series it’s so frustrating to see how the guy gives her unconditional love and how selfish she turns out to be. He deserve better ?

Talk about walking away damn near hating everyone of these people (except Bo-Ra, she kept it 100 the whole time). I really try not to give away spoilers in these posts but man this show really goes nowhere, and takes forever to get there. I honestly think there was a point where only 5 words of dialogue was sandwiched in between 4 mins of slow motion walks and flashbacks. And that song, holy hell I’m going to have nightmares with “Stand By Your Man” blasting in the background.

I saw korean dramas with big succes that I couldn't watch more than 2-3 episodes... there's no perfect drama... it's a very different culture compared to Europe.

The mom character is annoying like how she wants her daughter life to be good and happy but didn’t support their relationship instead more supportive of when she was in her relationship with her ex. The mom said so many hurtful things but never apologize to the siblings. The mom didn’t admit that she is the reason they broke up but saying they broke up themselves. The sexual harassment thing is just left like that like nothing happened and everything is okay. The ending is too rush and not good, the new relationship she had at the end was not necessary in the drama thats mean her live for him isn’t really. She is like a player in relationship. She could of have wait for him but instead have a new boyfriend and he didn’t have a new relationship even after they broke up. This drama could of have ended like 6 episodes. This drama clearly made the female lead in the end to be selfish and mean just because one man love her too much. She stated that she could live without him and didn’t even try to get back to him instead offer to be friends. I wish they could of have make the ending more like she follow him instead he follow her because throughout the drama he always the one fixing their problems, getting back to her, follow her, and keep their relationship strong. I will give this drama a 5/10 because it could have end at 6 episodes.

Lol, you can't blame me. Their chemistry is on point but I had to think that it's just too 'plain' for what they're aiming for which is 'experience real life dating' however, the mother was so annoying for me and the ending didn't really satisfied me. This is one of chill k-dramas that I have watched after record of youth. Now, I really do need to read reviews of people before binge-watching a series.

Sometimes it was good but at least 4 times it was not a good. You could have picked better music. I’m an American but US country music did not feel right for those 4 times. If you change the music at those 4 times it would be perfect. All in all, I liked it. Stand by your man, to many times. That gave it a dull or boring feel a moment or two. Respectfully Sam.

The acting is so accurate, authentic and genuine. I smiled like an idiot watching it. The mains are so comfortable around each other. Its a pure, sincere, bubbly relationship with a handful of comic and heartaching moments. The attention given to small details, like voice tone, unnoticeable body language, ambience, set , soundtrack, and cinematography, really paid off. The type of shows that makes you feel empty after finishing it. Highly recommended

What I dislike is the female lead’s behavior and everything about her office, plus her mom of course. Ah and the OST for the first 5 episodes soooo annoying. Sorry - as much as I respect the culture of each country, this filial loyalty in Korea gets to be overbearing. The girl had no spine or consistency. I also got fed up with her character the further the story went. I wish I had a hundred dollars for every time she uttered “I’m sorry”. It got to the point where she was not credible and you just wanted to slap her in the face. She lied too much behind a emotionless face. Overall, her boyfriend was the most mature of all the characters and always found the best words for each situation. I didn’t want him to take her back. He was too good for her. The actor did a great job too - a real sweetheart with a contagious smile.

Her chemistry with JHI is unreal, it felt so alive. Their romances, emotions and interactions are spot on. Maybe because the genres are very different from CLOY. But still, SITR really feels like a real life and I thought I was watching a 16 eps movie lol. I never got the same feeling again like I did from SITR. Their acting is so good, felt like watching a documentary of real life person. I just want to say that out of all SYJ’s co-stars, she had the greatest chemistry with JHI. I really wish I could see them again for future projects. Love you SYJ<333

I was waiting the moment she apologized to Kyungsun and Junhee but she never did that. About Jin-A, I like her till ep 13. Her character is ruined in the end. Suddenly she turned to be selfish. Her apology after the breakup announcement isn’t sincere. She should be more serious when discussing something like that. She always try to end the conversation quickly. It’s always Junhee trying to understand her position. The couple reunion also feels too forced. It should be done better than this. But despite all my complains above, I love JinA and Junhee’s chemistry. They are such a match.

The toxicity of the relationship (too many lies, poor communication, decisions are not made or discussed with their partner gaslighting etc.) The toxicity of the relationship is concealed with the romance, the chemistry etc. I’m liking the story on sexual harassment and Jin-a’s character development but it felt lacking later on as well. I really like the actor Jung Hae In. Hopefully in the future he’ll have a drama where his partner is admirable not only as his love-team but as a women. Because I also did not like the character of her love team in One Spring Night

She said she wouldn't run away because she'd matured. If true, she wouldn't have been immaturely selfish by not accepting Joon-Hee's earlier offer to move in together because there were 'still things she wanted to do' independently – as she later admitted to Kyung-Sun. Plus, she never admitted this motivation to Joon-Hee when scolding that he'd left her 'alone on the cliff edge' because he'd had enough.

She claimed she'd offered to reset their relationship to pre-dating status to make it easier when they met again. Not turning her back on him TWICE at the wedding would’ve achieved that!

The ending wasn't really a happy one for Joon-Hee. Jin-a had just told Bo-Ra she could live without him now, whereas Joon-Hee confessed he couldn't live without Jin-a. Even after the tension broke in the garden she wasn’t overjoyed.

Besides, despite the implausible improvement in the mother-daughter relationship, there was nothing to suggest Joon-Hee could now be accepted. He therefore appeared destined to be Jin-a's, as he once suspected, only as a convenience to her. Quite heart-breaking really.

Stonebeliever Jul 13 2020 8:50 am This is a poignant insight into a pure, sincere and multi-faceted relationship, which also reveals a lot about contemporary Korean society.

At times the series is a little sickly sweet but, hey it is a romance ... What's more of a problem is that each episode could easily be halved without negatively impacting on the story. In fact it would make it a lot less laboured to watch. I think many will give up on this series due to its slow pace and unnecessary length.

However, that's a shame because it's brilliantly acted and full of utterly believable characters.

Finally, Stand by your Man as a theme tune to the series is ok musically but really isn't apt lyrically speaking. This is because although it's sometimes 'hard to be a woman' for Jin-a (family disapproval, workplace harassment etc.) it isn't due to tolerating her man's selfish behaviour, which is what that song's really about. In fact, Joon-Hee is really the one who has to tolerate the problems generated by Jin-a's situation (ex-boyfriend and family) and her habit of not telling him of problems at the appropriate opportunity (e.g. when he calls as she's signing the lease).

Jung Hae In is so good and cute, handsome young man. I love this drama so much, its background music so lovely..the chemistry. This is 5 star rating.

That whole fiasco of not seeing each other for years could have been avoided if you had grown a pair....... And lets talk about you deciding to stay at that filthy company that did you no good...it was trash you should have just gone away with him!!@!!!!!!! The drama was good though would recommend with a side of a pillow so you can punch it whenever you feel annoyed,, and darling that will be all the time.

asd Jun 21 2020 10:58 pm The series was actually great. Some might perceive it to be boring because of the nature of the story. There were a lot of dialogue that could be boring to some. I actually enjoyed it and thought it was just the right pace. The story is very relatable with the ups/downs of relationships, parents who are annoying, the age gap, family background, work struggles, etc. It was perfect for viewers who had experienced the type of challenges before as it bring out old memories, good and bad...

I don't normally comment on soundtracks but this one deserves credit. The soundtrack was great, classy and beautiful. Very fitting to the story. 93/100

The only thing I find very disappointing is Jun-Hui was always accepting all the blame and apologising, while Jin-A didn’t. I feel like the best way to show her support for Jun-Hui would be moving in together with him when he offered, but she didn’t and allowed her mother to ruin their beautiful relationship. Making Jun-Hui apologize because at the end was unfair. Otherwise this series is very beautiful and highly recommended.

Candy Jun 05 2020 2:21 am I enjoyed the romantic moments as if I want go back to my younger days and I sooo love the male actor ( next to kim soo hyun, they’re look alike ) because he really is a good actor aside from being handsome. I liked his character in this drama and the way he portrayed it, as well as I liked song hye Jin for being a good actress but not the character she played.. too weak and insensitive! I got carried away and got mad with the mom of the lead female character, up to the end she didn’t give in and accept her mistake wholeheartedly . The ending, although it seems a happy ending .. it wasn’t clear if those people who opposed were able to let them be happy together sincerely. Their chemistry is great, hopefully they’ll have another but much better kdrama.

Ellie May 30 2020 9:27 am Wonderful, beautiful, heart warming, just so memorable with beautiful Son Ye Jin, though they tried to make her ugly in a couple of terrible outfits, like the one for her brother’s wedding, but they couldn’t. This is a brilliant director, Ann Pan Seok, such a sensitive touch, great music and photography. Didnt want it to end. Everyone loathed the Mother but that proves she acted well. The Dad too, but he should have spoken up more often. Best drama of the year, best since Suspicious Partner. I like straight drama with no fantasy in it. Crash Landing good too. Realistic. Son Ye Jing a natural pair with Jung Hae In, I think he was genuinely in love with her while he shot the drama. More please.

Some scenes made me want to pull my hair out because it made me so angry. I didn't like how the main characters mum could say all of those hurtful things and in the end, they just forgave her like that? How could she say those things but all they could reply was "please stop"???? their reactions really made me mad because how they wouldn't defend themselves.

Besides the mum character, everything was pretty good. Would definitely recommend this drama but trust me...there will be times where you get so angry that you want to cry LOL.

Then I followed Memories of Alhambra and something In the rain because of Hyu and Son j . Something in the rain , story was great and the chemistry. It brings out the our Inner child . In this pandemic , I take my dogs for a walk and listen Watch some of the episodes .Jung hae so handsome and Son so pretty , love the scenes , dialogue . I have watched Cloy and SITR twice already . Nice to discover Kdrama this year

I am asking for recommendations of good kdrama, I once watched "Memories of the Alhambra" and I liked it very much, then after a long break I came across "Crash Landing on You" and from that moment I became a fan of Korean dramas, the next one I saw was "Something in the Rain" and so far I rate it as the best drama I've ever seen, definitely my number one, then it was "One Spring Night", "This Is My Love", "My Holo Love" and currently I'm watching "Romance Is a Bonus Book". What conclusions after watching these few dramas? I definitely prefer the more realistic ones without magic, science fiction or unnecessary humorous threads and that's why "Something in the Rain" impressed me so much and I think I will be returning to this drama regularly. In "One Spring Night" I do not know if it was weaker acting or the love story itself was not as intense and exciting as in "Something in the Rain" but the series, although it suits my preferences, did not make such an impression on me although in general I also like it. If you can recommend me dramas that would be similar to "Something in the Rain" and it would be best if they were available on netflix, I would be grateful. Recommend also good movies, for example, I plan to watch "A moment to remember" because I think it will be good.

The first 5 episodes slowly and solidly revealed the unfolding of love between two individuals as they defied the gender-age stigma. Son Ye Jin and Hung Hae were perfect in there respective roles physically and age-wise. The weakest part of this drama however, is the character of Jin-ah. The acting is great but her character was pathetic to say the least. A 35 year old career woman making childish, immature and totally illogical decisions are so incoherent and inconsistent. At her age JIn-ah lacks sensitivity and no idea of the meaning of respect (as when she dated another man when she was already bespoken to Jun-hui; as when she overstep Jun-hui by meeting his father). Despite experiencing the violent streak of his ex-boyfriend, Jin-ah still went with her ex-boyfriend alone regarding mobile phone purchase when she could just have bought another one or accept Jun-hui's offer to buy her one. In her inability to support Jun-hui's determination, she does not deserve Jun-hui unconditional love. Jun-hui's character was consistent in his total devotion for Jin-ah. Whilst he remained uncommitted during their break-up, Jin-ah took time to have a boyfriend. In the last scene of the last episode, I do not understand why Jun-hui should accept all fault and no sorry from Jin-ah? In the end I just wished that Jun-hui would find another woman who appreciates his pure love and commitment. Jin-ah does not deserve Jun-hui.

I got butterflies from Jun-hui, he and his character were honestly amazing. I hate her mother so much I can’t put into words how much I wanted to throttle her honestly but I digress. The main woman started to get real annoying, manipulative and honestly found ways to turn the bad things she did on him like what???? She definitely did not deserve him and he for sure deserved better gosh. My favourite character was Gyeong Seon and she was just his sister. Only person with common sense jeez.

Would not recommend.

Jung hae in such a cutie live in a well built body omg i cant get enough of him, and Son yejin is a really amazing actress that sometimes reminded me of red velvet’s irene. The soundtrack is not like what usually used in any drama, but i really love it. The only minus of this drama is the slow plot, and it make such a big impact for me, so sometime i must speed it up when i watch in some (boring for me) scene.

I hardly knew her, but her versatile switching between serious, comic abd just sweet is done very natural.

This drama is realistic too. Although I am a male, I know too well, living near Amsterdam, the games that are being played, have to be played, but sometimes should not.

Not easy to overcome centuries of tradition and cultural expectations. I don’t care about the reverse age gap. Big deal! Those that bring it up speak out of both sides of their mouths. They want her to be strong and modern but don’t like the older woman-younger man scenario. ?

Personally I am a big fan of Son Ye-jin. She’s like Yang Mi of China. She makes her co-stars look 10x better because her acting is so good. Interesting that Jung Hae in played the young, pretty boy part which is atypical. Not hard to play the arm candy of the show. Smile frequently, show off the dimples and cute face, throw in excessive sweetness galore and he’s good.

Son Ye-jin on the other hand played the every day woman. Imperfect hair, lackluster make up, often timid at work and keeping quiet about harassment instead of speaking up. Continuing to associate with an ex even though he’s scum. Kowtowing to parents even when they’re wrong. But she’s a woman in love and she conveyed that brilliantly throughout. We relate to her actions, expressions and giddiness as a woman in love with a man who loves her wholeheartedly albeit imperfectly.

To me that was the theme of the show- Woman In Love. And SYJ was perfect. She always puts the acting above looking like a made up doll 24-7. Which is a ridiculous expectation for the every day woman. And some women criticize her for not looking perfect in every scene! Hello, the every day Jane does not look caked in make up every day! SYJ is fearless. And this is why she is my favorite SKorea actress. Her male costars are just arm candy in my book. I watch the shows because of her. She is the draw. She does not disappoint.

Ellen Feb 05 2020 1:05 am Something in the Rain - Pretty Noona who buys me Food, is an endearing beautiful drama and what makes it come to life is he wonderful musical score. The adaptation of Save the last Dance for Me is inspired and beautiful and so are the other songs. The theme of love between an older woman and a younger man is very topical these days but has also been going on for centuries. The story is well developed and Son Ye Jin shines again but Jung Hae-In does a great job too and really acts that he will lay down his life for her. This story merits a second season if a further plot line can be woven in. Well directed, the story if this touching partnership isn’t finished yet. Love it.

Julie Jan 19 2020 2:04 am I watched this drama because I am so drawn to the acting of Son he-Jin in Crash Landed on You with Hyun Bin, also in his 30’s. She is so good that when I saw she was paired with a 31 year old acting a much younger man I was intrigued and couldn’t resist. The plot is an old theme but very well done with first class music score and wide angled shots and Son He Jin doesn’t disappoint again, she pulls off a completely different character effortlessly. Their love story is charming and heart warming, but Korean Mothers are really the end, if Western Mother’s acted like that their kids would all leave home at the first opportunity - they’re terrible in nearly all the dramas except the ones where they are single Mums. I haven’t seen Jung hae-in before, he acts well a really young man. It’s great to see a male Korean who hasn’t Westernised his face with plastic surgery like all the others and doesn’t wear his hair in his eyes, good on him. I’ll watch where he goes with interest and hope he doesn’t change his features. This drama is touching and well directed but with a questionable ending, does this mean there is more to come?

JJ Nov 03 2019 3:00 pm at first this drama was quite slow but it did pick up in the middle somewhere! like others here i kinda detest her mother albeit she claims it's for her children's sake to find someone suitable for them when they settle down. However, I must admit in some aspects I can agree or disagree with her, and I admire her father better, he was more u/standing & lenient in some ways that her mother was not receptive to! I feel for these 2 lovers bc I myself don't disagree that their age gap was huge, after all, what's impt in my view is that they're truly in love, that counts more than what ppl say about a man shld not marry a woman younger than him! To make it short, I also felt she shld've joined him in gg to America if she was deeply in love w/him, I think I would, I'm ready to sacrifice anything for the man I love! In a way, she's a bit to blame for their separation in my view! Also what I didn't quite u/stand is that what ever happened to her sexual harassment case? She got promoted & what did they do just sweep the lawsuit under the rug? I do know that Gong guy or whatever his name was did apologize to her but I guess that's it? Anyway, I was glad it turned out a happy ending! I'll for sure follow this young actor Jung hae in again, he's adorable & great acting I must say! He's gonna go a long way & all da best to him!

I’m sick & tired of the double standards. If men can marry women 20 yrs younger woman should too. Overall I would give this drama a B+ I will definitely watch more dramas with Jung HaeIn. First off, this drama is remarkably charming. This feeling that radiates from the drama is achieved in a couple of ways, for example, through the long pauses and silences that make the drama appear "slow". These silences actually add a great amount of interest to the drama bc suddenly it has to drive itself in a new way, it can't just have snappy editing, its got to have a genuinely interesting set of characters and a decent plot.

Another signature move by the Director was the wide shots. He loved his wide shots. It was interesting how he decided to direct this drama though... as I said, it didn't have a lot of different angles, he would choose an angle and have the actors act in that shot for sometimes whole scenes at a time. If you couldn't see an actor's face then it didn't matter because that meant we needed to focus on the other character. He would have a wide shot angle and have them do every little thing as if they were real people. There was no quick editing or cutting things out to move it along. I say this adds to its charm because it made the drama feel so raw. They were completely exposed. In my opinion, it is this that made the characters come to life.

Another thing that I loved was the use of music and/or lack of. Whoever sorted out the audio for this drama did a fantastic job. There were times when there would be no music and the characters would either talk or not talk, with many pauses in between. you might think that this made it boring, but it DIDN'T. There was no need for any extra bg music bc we were focused on the characters and their struggles. It also meant that when the OST's did kick in, they were much more impactful. The OST's were beautiful. Absolutely stunning.

The actors did a fantastic job. I first saw Jung Hae-In in While You Were Sleeping and I have always thought that he deserved to be a lead role because he did a FANTASTIC job. Han Woo Tak will always give me the worst second lead syndrome. Nonetheless, Jung Hae-In shone. I really enjoyed his performance. It's my first time seeing Song Ye-Jin and I was thoroughly impressed with how beautiful and talented she was. She did a great job. The chemistry between the two leads was INSANE. I really loved watching them. I thought that it might be weird because I'm not personally a big fan of Noona - Dongsaeng relationships in drama's, but I was pleasantly surprised by how tastefully it was played out and by just how much chemistry they had. This couple will always stay in my heart.

It's a simple story, but the writing is fantastic, the acting is great and the directing is phenomenal. I seriously recommend.

I'm not sure if i like the idea of her being paired though with a much younger actor such as the lead man in this drama? i'll see if they hv a chemistry

cyou Oct 20 2019 12:59 pm so I'm in episode 8 of the series and can't deny that the series is pretty boring and so slow.. i mean the main characters did a great job ,and the chemistry between them is great but it's just not enough since the plot isn't interesting enough..I feel like almost all the episodes are the same and there is no significant or interesting development..I'm really considering whether to continue watching it or not.

Melanie Potter Sep 21 2019 5:27 pm I will try to be brief, even if already seen, the history mature woman who fall in love with a young man not is important , all in all it could also be a good drama, even if not exceptional, but what I do not understand is how did Son Ye -Jin to accept a role without knowing who the other leading actor would be. Devoid of charisma, sex appeal, with just one expression, I don't like him at all, and I was also sorry that she agreed to walk the red carpet hand in hand. The drama could have been interesting, in the end it is only something that should be forgotten quickly.

Hosea Jul 13 2019 8:43 am Quite simply the best Korean drama I’ve ever seen. It has all the best elements a k drama can give. It was so beautifully cast and acted I cannot find a single negative thing to say about it. Simply exquisite. So much emotion packed into each scene the protagonists appear together in. You could almost sense the emotion, the longing yet the sense that tragedy will strike. I found her unfeeling at first but realized she just couldn’t fathom such depth of love from anyone. It frightened her. I’m glad the ending wasn’t ambiguous and that in that final recording she expresses the pain she too felt at the split. This is Emmy-worthy.

I've rewatched it quite a few times because it's such a great story, beautifully told with just enough drama and suspense to keep it from being cheesy and cliche. The chemistry between the two leads is one of the best I've seen in a drama.

My only negative feedback about this drama would be about the workplace sexual harassment issue. Most of the women complained or were generally uncomfortable, but when it came time to speak... I mean they were given an opportunity to speak up anonymously, they all kept quiet, turned against each other and left one woman to stand on her own in the fight.

Perhaps this is an accurate portrayal of women in the S. Korean workplace but I found that ending to the blatant workplace sexual harassment throughout the drama, very dissatisfying. If this is how it really is in S. Korean workplace, then this could have been a great teaching moment. Instead, all that "resolution" did was reinforce the myth that women should shut their mouths about sexual harassment if they want to keep their jobs and get a promotion.

I would love to see more dramas portraying how things "could be" versus how they are. Nothing ever changes if all we do is focus on "what is".

Naira Jun 11 2019 5:57 pm OMG!!! I'm watching it right now. And the first ep was really heartbreaking. Is closely exactly on what happened to me 2 years ago. I can relate to this story. That most of the guys that were older or same as my age, were failed. And I have a steady relationship with a a guy 3 years younger than me.

We'll see as soon as Ive done watching this. So far, all the actors did a great job.

I need to ready tissues here. :(

Nonie Jun 08 2019 1:23 am This level of this drama is 1,000 higher than all the other Goblins and Mr. Sunshines. Unfortunately (or fortunately, in my view), it's not for everyone. It's only for the most educated and sophisticated viewers with very high emotional intelligence. This drama is like a glass of the most exquisite, expensive wine you can find in the world, but a regular girl just won't taste the difference. If you like "fast food" junk like Goblin or DOTS or a 14-year old girl, this drama is not for you. Don't even say anything negative about it, it just shows how dumb and naive you are. I appreciate this drama for what it is, a beautiful shining gem in the collection of fine cinematography. Parasite doesn't deserve the Palme D'Or, but this drama does. This is by far the best drama I have ever watched in my life, and I watched over 200. Thank you, An Pan Seok, all the actors and all the crew. You deserve the highest honor in the history of cinematography and humankind. Kamsahamnida.

mars May 28 2019 9:31 pm i was very excited for this drama because of Jung Hae In. but i was quite disappointed with what i saw. i know there is a lot of hype around this show, but i personally found it to be boring; i thought it was really slow. i realized it was one of those “a slice of life” kind of shows, which isn’t something i’m into. the chemistry between the leads was beautiful, but i was left bored with the plot.

Stef May 02 2019 12:02 pm I watched this drama twice already. There were a lot of quiet scenes where there were no background music or anything just 2 people talking. These scenes gave me time to absorb the feelings that they wanted to convey. Wide shots were simply amazing, capturing the environment which builds up the mood. As for the leads, they did great. Some people might not know but dating older women or vise versa is a big issue if your asian. As well as family background and status. The director and scriptwriter has done a good job in portraying the discrimination that women encounter which made the female lead progress. Overall I highly recommend this kdrama. Sadly its underrated.

Jin-A's mom was nervous as if she'd had an affair with him in the past... Maybe she was really afraid her daughter and Joon-Hee were actually brother and sister? I was surprised nothing was shown after they were obviously trying to show something went on betwen them (Jin-A's mom and Joon-Hee's dad).

I think it was true and very touching when she recorded that message on the phone saying that she learned from him the meaning of love. it was especially poignant given her previous awful fake relationships.

his maturity was like a breath of fresh air, and I’m sure it’s fiction, because people in the real world are not like this. That’s what made this so so addicting.

kudos to the director and everyone involved in production. The camera angles were breathtaking and an integral part of the storytelling.

James Dec 19 2018 6:09 am First, there will be **SPOILERS**. That said, I'd like to share my two cents and see if it makes sense to anyone else. Full disclose, I'm an American guy who stumbled onto this by chance on Netflix recently, had never watched a Korean drama before, and got hooked fairly quickly on this one. So, here goes:

I agree with so much I've read in other comments and reviews, so, I'll say now that yes, there was great chemistry between the two leads, their acting was perfect for their roles as their characters. The story unfolded slowly, but worked well, giving us time to get to know & like them since both characters, especially Yoon Jin-A grew and changed a lot during the series.

Some random thoughts going back over the series up to episode 15, I felt Seo Joon-Hee was more often dealing with stress directly or indirectly related to Jin-A than anything he was responsible for & the responsibility fell on him to accept & be there & be understanding and comfort her. Whether her harassment

& work issues, her family resentment & lack of acceptance (especially mom),

her ex-boyfriend, etc, were always taking a toll, and putting more pressure on him to understand & support her. Some of this, like the phone deal with ex, and going to see him after the flower incident, were made worse by her actions.

However, I'd agree that most things were not her fault, though it still added to his stress for example, like knowing her mom didn't approve of him for her. But, I actually understand where both of them were coming from in what we saw and presumably what we didn't see between the end of ep 15 and three years? later in ep 16. I believe that Joon-Hee honestly felt like getting them away from all the stress & interference from family, etc was the only way to save their relationship, and while actually he kept saying he was fine, he was not, as all those things built up inside of him and took their toll. Jin-A on the other hand, even though often dealing with more of the brunt of most of those situations, was dealing with them & handling them better, and able to move past them.This was also where her maturity came into the picture. She was just starting to feel like her own person, which, as she acknowledged that he helped her get to that place. But the reason she quickly got her own apt. while he was out of town, is she was worried that he might talk her out of it, and she knew she needed that time living on her own, to complete her journey of becoming her own person, and to not go directly from her parents house to living with him. She also liked her surroundings, job, friends, life enough and was dealing with the issues well enough, that she did not want to just pick up and run off to the states, where she knew nobody and would be completely reliant on him. So, I get why both of them came to that breaking point, of why he was insisting they go, and why she wasn't able to give in and go along with it. Even though it hurt them both badly.

This was one of the few times over the course of the series that he was actually wrong in what he thought was the best for her, and for them, and as a result, it had huge consequences, that may have never been resolved, if not for the timing of his return, her less than solid relationship, and his lack of another relationship. They were both full of regret for the way things ended, and just seeing each other again, eliminated any doubt they still felt deeply for each other. So, after some painful confrontations, he finds her and everyone gets their happy ending. Overall, it was a beautiful, sweet, but realistic & modern love story. Will probably watch again.

Finally, they both discovered something they needed in each other and didn't fully realize. He found a real woman, intelligent,complex, compassionate, who put his love to the test several times. Plus, he had probably had a crush on for years, and for the first time, she finally experienced what it was like to truly be loved, adored, cherished & appreciated by someone.

A comment I read about what Joon-Hee made Jin-A realised that one can be in love and not in any relationship and one can also be in a relationship without being in love. Totally agree...what makes this drama so good is how much love Joon-Hee gave to Jin-A...I almost wanted to pray to live life all over again and try if I can look for such a man. @Tami, you can also feast more of PD An's work in Secret Affair...a more intense noona-dongseang story. `o_o`

First off, this drama is remarkably charming. This feeling that radiates from the drama is achieved in a couple of ways, for example, through the long pauses and silences that make the drama appear "slow". These silences actually add a great amount of interest to the drama bc suddenly it has to drive itself in a new way, it can't just have snappy editing, its got to have a genuinely interesting set of characters and a decent plot.

Another signature move by the Director was the wide shots. He loved his wide shots. It was interesting how he decided to direct this drama though... as I said, it didn't have a lot of different angles, he would choose an angle and have the actors act in that shot for sometimes whole scenes at a time. If you couldn't see an actor's face then it didn't matter because that meant we needed to focus on the other character. He would have a wide shot angle and have them do every little thing as if they were real people. There was no quick editing or cutting things out to move it along. I say this adds to its charm because it made the drama feel so raw. They were completely exposed. In my opinion, it is this that made the characters come to life.

Another thing that I loved was the use of music and/or lack of. Whoever sorted out the audio for this drama did a fantastic job. There were times when there would be no music and the characters would either talk or not talk, with many pauses in between. you might think that this made it boring, but it DIDN'T. There was no need for any extra bg music bc we were focused on the characters and their struggles. It also meant that when the OST's did kick in, they were much more impactful. The OST's were beautiful. Absolutely stunning.

The actors did a fantastic job. I first saw Jung Hae-In in While You Were Sleeping and I have always thought that he deserved to be a lead role because he did a fantastic job. Han Woo Tak will always give me the worst second lead syndrome. Nonetheless, Jung Hae-In shone. I really enjoyed his performance. It's my first time seeing Song Ye-Jin and I was thoroughly impressed with how beautiful and talented she was. She did a great job. The chemistry between the two leads was insane. I really loved watching them. I thought that it might be weird because I'm not personally a big fan of Noona - Dongsaeng relationships in drama's, but I was pleasantly surprised by how tastefully it was played out and by just how much chemistry they had. This couple will always stay in my heart.

It's a simple story, but the writing is fantastic, the acting is great and the directing is phenomenal. I seriously recommend.

Her depth, the quality, range and subtlety of her acting make me think of Meryl Streep. Both are such great actresses. The story of daily life in modern Seoul is also very well told, directed and acted. I find it very enjoyable to watch modern Korean society in its own #metoo transition.

The music fit so well and the magic in the photos scenes were unbelievably warm, rich color and real. It tells so well about the Asian culture. How the deeply ingrained biases about family tree lines, the necessitiy of having both parents, going to the right school, getting the right job in the right company. It seemed the mother brought all of the cruelest of this culture together. She didn't have a single redeeming characteristic, no heart, very mean. The writers told the story so well, in so many different areas. My husband lived this same story in Japan, several generations ago. It seems nothing has changed. I knew of the more recent harrassment and descrimination of women in the work place. This story focused on the complications when falling in love, the sweet, intimate, not overly sexy, love scenes, and how the culture worn down and tore apart two people who were so much in love.

i didnt mind the first 10 eps and the slow pace but starting from ep11 the drama started to be shitty, i can see that the writer's of this story wanted to create miscommunication and thats okay but then seeing how their relationship progressed such decisions were supposed to be more seamless to work with. i found that the female lead was just avoiding and living her life according to her mother's will.

she could have followed him in the states after solving her problems, they could've met in the states and found a job their and lived their lives.

i did not like the ending, i wish she apologized and followed him instead of him following her and apologizing.

all in all, it was gonna be the most cute nice drama i ever watch but the ending f*cking ruined it

If this story happened in the real world, the relationship between the couple will not last till the end. This really happen to me in the past about 22 years ago, and I realize life is too short to wasting my time in this world. It really hurt at first and will have a scar with me until the day I die. About 8 months after I broke up with my ex in 1997 that where I meet my wife. Our two families support our love 100%, not just only for the good time but for the bad time. Specially the bad time, without families support the couple will not able to make it till the end. I still recommend this TV show must watch, because of the too main characters chemistry.

The way the cameras were angled, the countless dragging scenes, overused flashbacks, lack of variety of OST, unnecessary scenes that wasn't edited out... it kind of reminds me of how Taiwanese dramas were shot. It kind of stepped back 10 years or more with the overall output. Then the ending doesn't seem to really have been concluded. It seemed rushed. It would have easily been one of the cult favorite K-dramas if only it was truly perfected in every aspect just like majority of the Korean dramas

Don't care where her mother disapproves so adamantly and a bit over-the-top(but probably some what realistic). Really hate the choice of main drama music used. The lyrics are really really irritating, annoying and whining in a drama about a strong independent woman. Come on now, country music? "Sometimes It's Hard To Be a Woman" and "Stand By Your Man"??!!

zzzk Aug 09 2018 6:18 am Okay, i love the chemistry between the two leads when they were in love and fighting for it...but i just cant stand son ye jin's character at all for like all her actions and decisions. everything she did was wring and she never fully went agaisnt her parents which i felt was upsetting and i wish they never got together for the ending..i jist really felt too sad for jung hae in's character and his sister. her mother never apologized to them and the ending apology she gave to her daughter i felt was shitty as well..didnt satisfy all the anger she caused throught out the drama. I still love it when they were in love but just still think son ye jin's character was too selfish. He did everything for her and she never reciprocated that unconditional love. she didnt even wait for him to come back from the states..thats the least she could have done for not going with him. that would have been a big act of going against her mother..all the other stuff she did was just arguments that led to nothing. she said she wanted to be stronger..she just became more pathetic after he left.

I so enjoy seeing the landscapes, the city. It is rich with family dynamics, funny and textured. Detailed with feeling and experience, from the many meals to karaoke.... it reminds me step by step what romantic love feels like as it starts and as it grows. I laugh, I cry, I sigh, I yearn...This is wonderful.

I've become sentimental during and after watching this drama. I'm really going to miss this... Even I'm not affected by the hate comments below, because it was just too good.

I've watched Something in the Rain 3 times already although I must admit I skip some of the sad episodes the 2nd and 3rd time around. The stars had the most excellent chemistry and I have since watched Prison Playbook also with Jung Hae In and I'm so impressed with his acting skill I would watch him in anything, the same with Son Yejin, awesome performances for both.

There were times at 3am when I questioned why I continued to watch but they end the episode on the cliffhanger so well that you're pushed to watch on. Agree that the middle parts were way too slow I wanted at 10second fast forward button or at least a 2x speed up button to watch it at times. The main lead character is delicious looking. I wish I had a younger man so madly in love with me. Oh well. Maybe that's why we watch these shows to live their lives. It made me want to go to Jejun Island and see what is so great about it. I loved the scene where they are driving in snow - that cinematography was great. I will miss them.

I love their acting, they have great on-screen chemistry. And I cant get enough of them together because of the ending of this drama. I was left wishing for more. I just wish the two main actors will have more projects together.

Hae Jul 19 2018 4:59 pm Something in the Rain was captivating from the start to finish. It made me feel a lot of emotions. The only thing I didn’t like was the ending. Like how Joon-Hee acted when Yin-A rejected his offer to go abroad with him. His character was very understanding all throughout but this time, it didn’t feel like something he would do. Especially the part where he chooses to not communicate and be angry at her. Even the part with his father was solved properly despite his resentment that lasted for decades. It seems like the ending was rushed(?) or shotgunned hahaha Still, definitely enjoyed this drama!

I was so engrossed and satisfied with. it touched a lot of topics; like sexual harassment in the work place, prejudice about dating someone younger, and on the mom's part, it showed prejudice about marrying someone society labelled as in a lower class or poor family background. I won't deny that i hated the mom, but i do get her point of view, however, she handled the situation very poorly. nevertheless, the actress did a great job.

Everything about this drama was amazing; from the OST to the acting, especially the chemistry between the leads; even the cinematography. I appreciated the way it was filmed, although it made me feel like a creep spying into their lives; however, that just made it feel more real; like i was with them. it might seem slow, but i couldn't stop watching, i was really obsessed with the drama. i do feel that the wrapped it up too neatly at the end, they could have done more. overall, this drama was amazing and i would recommend it for anyone who likes romance, and wouldn't mind facing real issues in the society; also anyone who would like to take a break from the cliche kdramas. 9.7/10

San7 Jul 05 2018 6:29 am If you really like romance/love stories I highly recommend it, Even though I got bored halfway the drama and wanted to stop watching it but something about it made me watch it till the end. Its full of love and emotions and I loved the chemistry between them, also their acting was so good. I didn't like Yoon Jin-A' style, I understand she's older than him and nothing is wrong with that, but her style was so boring and made her look so much older even though she's young.

Ona Jun 19 2018 10:21 pm I kept thinking about how appropriate the words in this song were for this K-drama, the song played often with the words 'it's hard to be women' I think that is the truth of this drama, it is hard to be a women in a society that tells you must behave a certain way. While I understand why people are mad at the behavior of the mother, she too is only doing what society has said is acceptable behavior for a woman. The chemistry between the two actors was amazing. The ending made me happy but I wonder if he had not followed her to Jeju that she would have given up. We teach women to not rebel, to be quiet and submissive even if you are dam miserable. I saw her mother as a depressed and angry woman who was very unhappy in her marriage and would never have had the courage that her daughter had in seeking her own happiness.

Now for the drama itself, I fell in love with their love , but found the mother to be a a vicious social climbing snob. Maybe I don't understand Korean culture. The daughter at her age couldn't live her own life which I found ridiculous. I'm an 85 year old woman and I sent my children off to their loves , for their happiness. I'm drifting from the drama, I fell in love with the male lead. Talk about difference in age, I could be his grandmother ???

I like the lead actress but I have seen her in better films and I love the lead actor but the lacking storyline didn't do him justice. The film would have been amazing with a solid realistic storyline but alas the writer did not give us this which is sad especially with such talent at their disposal

Then, this drama shows that no matter what trials come into their lives they should be positive and no one can break their love or relationship. It also tells us that your age or status in life doesn't matter when it comes to love. And in the end, there's a saying that if you love that person you will fight for him/her no matter what will happen.

Kdrama Jun 12 2018 11:35 am Halfway through this drama and just about to give it up. Decided to watch based on reviews here, but very slow and lacking in a fuller story line. Episodes seem to revolve around the same theme: older "sister"/younger "brother"-in love-trying-to-keep-it-a-secret from the disapproving family. It's getting a bit tiring. I really like the main lead actress (and there are some other superb actors), but I think she could have chosen a better drama. Filming reminds me of the same somber mode of Heard it from the Grapevine and Secret Affair--although the latter was definitely worth the watch.

But focusing on all the details of the characters personalities and backgrounds plus issues they faced I could see how Noona felt. There is where Jun dropped the ball though, he should have never left her behind, especially for a oblong, he messed up big time, I felt bad for her because once again she was let down by someone or something. Jun made an imitate move there. It was a good solution, they needed a change and this could have strengthen they're relationship, and even come back married once everything settles but once she said she couldn't go Jun should've adjusted. Leaving would have made things worse for her because of the family, people would've been bad mouthing them and her.

I like that the story exposed the truth about some societal issues that effect women, as well as people's happiness in general. I was very dissapointed that the producer/director... whomever is responsible for the story line, did not honor the strength of a woman in love, and her dedication to that love. I am 12 years older than my husband, whom I've been with for 25 years. We have 2 children, who are now 23 and 19 years old. I also have two sons from a previous relationship. My husband has been a wonderful friend to my sons, and a wonderful grandfather to their children. We still enjoy each other very much, have fun and appreciate one another... He still tells me that I'm beautiful, and that he loves me. Age is only a number... if you respect and appreciate each other, and share the same values... that's what works. I wish the producer would have honored the strength of love over societal bull crap.

TheGeneral Jun 05 2018 8:21 pm Eugenia, it showed the reality of many women who have to deal with societal norms, in this case Korean culture, which the show wanting to confront, the workforce, which can be brutal for women somwtimes, which the show also wanted to address as a societal issue in Korea, and once again the cultural pressures of a relationship problem which as the show brought out can be difficult for women because it's not about love it's all about the man success, that comes first, that why she was in that situation, she wanted someone she could love and get along with. So she deserves credit for standing up to the first jerk instead of just ignoring the issue. The show also showed how after developing a real relationship with a real man that is caring, loving, hardworking loyal, she admitted she became a woman because he gave her the strength and support she needed to feel strong and confident to stand up which she also admitted he helped her with.

TheGeneral Jun 05 2018 8:03 pm I had to respond to a few recent comments, Tjay, she might be in her 30's, but it doesn't mean she has to be different, that's her personality which has nothing to do with age, I know people in they're 60's right now that had the same personality and humor since they were young. Her personality is what made her so lovable and youthful which is why he fell in love with her. She also had her very very serious moments. And simglo, when the show fist started I though the same thing abouto the songs but after watching a few episodes I understood why they used and they turned out to be beautiful songs, the main one is sung by Carla Bruni. I definitely love the Korean songs, but they made some good choices with this one to bring out the mood.

Simglo Jun 05 2018 3:12 pm I really like Jung Hae In and I was highly anticipating this drama. I had a hard time finding it to watch ("Not available in your country"), I finally found it on Netflix. First I was extremely disappointed by the songs, I don't watch Kdramas to listen to stupid English songs, not to mention that they played them constantly. I don't think I can ever listen to those songs again without wanting to break something from frustration. I also didn't like the script, it was too boring.

The best thing about this is Jung Hae In, he is 100% in everything he does. He is super cute in this, more so than in other dramas. Also the female lead is pretty. Like the previous commenter said, the first few episodes have good romance, basically an overload of aegyo. You might get diabetes from watching Jung Hae In's sweetness. That is the one thing I am not complaining about. The rest is just filler. I totally think that Jung Hae In will continue to look cute even when he is an old man.

Faye Jun 04 2018 8:36 pm This is my first comment here in a long time as I just finished this show and the last few episodes make me want to cry and not in a good way. I’ve seen way too many dramas but somehow this show really hit my buttons. First off the ONLY thing redeemable about this show is the two main lead chemistry and love, nothing else is interesting. As a matter of fact the editing is kinda lacking. There are so so many shots of standing still moments for what seems like forever. So many times I thought my screen froze or the internet got cut just to realize it’s just the editing of the show. This would easily be a 9-10 episodes if they down their editing correctly. The really good thing is the showing of the character’s love early on, there’s many many sweet, adorable, natural, fall in love moments that’s just wonderful when it’s on screen. However, after the 10 episodes things get annoying fast from there on that by the last few episodes I just want to reach in and shake the female lead. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m 38 and feeling jaded by the world but when you’re my age and alone and no past relationship that could compare to this male character’s love....it’s not something you find everyday, every year, every decade, or even every lifetime. If I was her character I’d hold on to our love and never let go. In the real world I’m still single and alone 6 years after a heart break where my ex is not even 1/5 as good as this male lead character. Yet 3-4 years and already she have a boyfriend?! Like for real? It makes their love seems “normal” now and nothing extraordinary about it. Not from his perspective (his love was grand from beginning to end) but from her perspective (blea). Obviously she never loved him the way he loves her. This annoy the sh*t out of me. If you must watch this show, skip everything except for their interactions in the beginning it’s heart palpable adorableness and stop short of say episodes 12 or so. That’s just my take on it. Ok I guess I should stop ranting like a crazy person about chacracters on a TV show.

She wasn’t a damsel in distress and he wasn’t a knight in shining armor. They were their own people who happened to have a beautiful connection. She had her own problems at work that she didn’t expect jun hui’s help for, like her fight against sexual harassment. And he trusted her enough for her not to have to spell everything out. But they still communicated so well in the prime of their relationship showing how you need to make an effort for a relationship to work. Very realistic. And the pacing of the show was very calming and made you feel as comfortable in their relationship as they were? Lol for example, their trust in each other was shown so clearly so many times just by their actions and even expressions. Jun hui was so head over heels for Jin-a and she doted on his so much that you knew that nothing would be able to get in between their love. And ughh the filmography! So we’ll done, every shot was so beautiful! And the music! Definitely going to rewatch this one innumerable times. It’s a work of art.

Noona, should have been more open instead of doing things behind his back, those could've been moments they could have drawn closer, some of her actions started to erode the relationship. But I understand, she was an older independent women used to make some choices on her own, and he should have been more assertive instead of crumbling everytime, that's what she needed to hear he true thoughts and feelings. The great thing is that noona's brother was already on their side, the father was ok, Jun huí sister already got passed it, it was going in their direction, the mom had even felt defeated and then the fall apart. I also felt there were moment where what they should have said wasn't said, like Jun huí when speaking to the parentsame could have assured them of his love and commitment and even ask for her hand in marriage, maybe it wouldn't have worked but it could have helped.

TheGeneral Jun 04 2018 8:35 am I never leave comments but felt I really had to with this drama. I figured out what went wrong and that was Jun huí's actions towards the end. He should hAve never left and instead be grown up and really express himself thoroughly to Noona, the first thing that should have one out his mouth is let's get married and move together has adults. As a man he had to assure her of his commitment and maturity instead of leaving. The mom won and was right, "they broke themselves up", if they would have stuck it out and prove to everyone they're undying loyalty and love, no one would've been able to tear them apart or do anything about it.

Tim Jun 04 2018 6:07 am Let me preface my comments with some background on me, I am an older American guy who became interested in kdramas in the last few years. I watch them on Netflix.

'Something in the Rain' was a mixed-bag rollercoaster ride for me. Overall I did enjoy it, but I do agree with other comments here that it was overrated. I do give it 4 out of 5 stars. Here are the PROS and CONS from my perspective.

PROS 1. The cinematography was outstanding. Top marks for all the camera work, lighting, etc. 2. I enjoyed the soundtrack, especially the American songs that I totally related to. 3. The acting was great, especially Son Ye-Jin. This was the first time I've seen her work and it was worth watching for the entire 18+ hours.

CONS 1. The writing was erratic, weak, and often nonsensical. The dialogue had too many miscommunications and 'white' lies between the couple for me to believe they were really in deep love. A few of these would have been ok but every episode they were lying and misunderstanding each other. And then there was just some totally unbelievable events, like Jin-A continuing contact with ex-boyfriend after he tried to rape her. Portions of the writing were so poor that I often wondered if the English subtitles I was reading had been mis-translated. 2. Missed opportunities - this is probably still related to the writing but I'm breaking it out separately. The story missed chances to make it much better, for example characters given substantial screen time were never given sub-plots, like Seo Kyung-Sun getting a boyfriend, Jin-A's obsessed mother being put in her place for good, or the sexual harassment issue at CoffeeBar being resolved. Also, the significance of the green and red umbrellas was wasted. The last episode should have had them using those two umbrellas even though they had been apart for so long, to show us the power of their love had endured.

the female lead did really well at her character being the PRETTIEST noona i've ever seen since then lol. The story is very cute the fact that they can make you feel love and what relationship looks like (since i haven't been in a relationship so) ++ their acting is so on point!!!! VERY NATURAL!!!! they also did some adlibs (mostly as far as i know) so it makes me feel very emotional for them. Ofc there was some rough paths but that what makes a "korean drama" right? OVERALL IT WAS LIT!!! 10/10

semperlei Jun 03 2018 5:48 am it was an ok and overrated kdrama. so many hype because of the undeniable chemistry of the two leads. that i would say because of their very good acting skills. you could really feel the love from them towards each other thus romantic scenes are really superb... and that was it.. for me the only good about this drama is their chemistry... this drama didnt made me addicted or to look forward on the next.episode.. i would say it was boring and dragging.. the way the story was told it was not addictive. i have so much expectation about this drama but sadly it's not what i expected.. i cant help but compared it to witch's romance which has the same storyline.. witch's romance is far way better than this. sorry but it was a boring 18 hrs of watching for this drama.

I am so touched by Jung Hae-in interpretation of a guy who is passionately in love. His face and body language is so tantalizingly Convincing. I hope to see him in more Korean series. TooLateNow Jun 01 2018 8:26 pm This was just an okay drama for me. Compared to Ye Jin Son's Shark with Nam Gil Kim it didn't rate at all. Even Personal Taste and Summer Scent were better dramas to me. She had nice chemistry with her leading man, but then she has nice chemistry with ALL her leading men over the years, particularly with Woo Sung Jung in A Moment To Remember.

Hopefully Ye Jin will pick a great melodrama next time. This rom com could have told the same story in half the episodes, it just dragged out.

So heartwarming in every way. I am overwhelmingly giddy with every episodes. I love the innocent & passionate way he showed his love for her. Their chemistry is so out if this world. I have seen a lot of kdramas & movies, I have a major addiction to it & this is by far one othe best kdrama & they are one of the best couple by far. I hope they have more projects together. Aaww!! Going through major withdrawal right now!!! The song "stand by your man" just keeps repeating in my head over & over - lol!!! Yes I agree the last few episodes was a bit dissapointing, I am not too thrilled with it either. I really wish it was done better. But still love the whole drama regardless - lol!!

But here’s the problem: Joon Hee is very rare, but she is too dense and weak to hang on to him. As the series moves into the last episodes, which for me ruined the beauty of their love story, it became increasingly erratic, and I felt he should not put up with her behavior much less the vile, repugnant “mommy dearest” figure. He is disrespected with no cause, and it is heartbreaking. He is not a kid: he is a man, and he is a precious one. I finished the series loving him as I had all along but annoyed that he took all the blame—again. She did not deserve this sweet man, and the ending does not change my feeling because I don’t trust her. I have rarely been so disappointed in a series outcome. On the positive side, Jung Hae-In was wonderful in his first lead and should be sought after.

Daisy Cat May 28 2018 7:29 am I really loved this drama at first, it was so fresh and the love they had for each other was so pure. They actually acted like a new couple in love. Most of the time in dramaland they get together and it feels like they've been together for 10 years already, there's not even a little passion and there's always way too many problems. So really the first of the drama was so awesome. I thought this drama would climb in my top 3 just like that. But then the 5 or 6 last episodes and arrived and destroyed it all. It became long, boring, no evolution ever happened, all of the sudden they couldn't comunicate anymore, especially Jin Ah who, from my point of view, was clearly less in love. She was always on the receiving end, she always got things her way, yet she was never able to compromise for him. The only time she did it was when they went "campign" with his friends. And of course that ending topped it all. They broke up for 3 years because she wasn't able to leave with him (not forever) to the US.... She wasn't able to let go of the things she had and at the end she lets everything go to live on Jeju Island and they even get back together after she did? What's the point? And he had the nerves to say "It was all my fault" when clearly he did his absolute best until the end for their couple. In the end we don't get to know how the sexual harassement case ended and they go back to square one without any problem answered... Waste of time. I recommand but only if you don't watch it full. I usually don't feel so mad. If I don't like a drama I don't. But the first half of the drama was waytoo good I can't believe they did this.

It unwraps detailly the memory, the passion, and the problems that arise. Some strict Jin-A's statements towards her mom also I did, but some didn't (I have no brave like her). Joon Hee's character , gesture and mimics really reminds me of my ex-bf. Thank you so much writer-nim. Definetely I am gonna watch your other projects too !!!

There’s books you just want to crawl inside and live in them, right? For me there’s also a few dramas like that as well, far fewer than perfect book alternate universes, but just as wonderful and this drama is amongst the “few” for me! I wish it was like US soaps like All My Children, of course at least only in longetivity since I cannot stand a single episode of an American soap opera!? Excellent job for all the cast, crew much love to the writers, producers and director for bringing to our screens a lovely, realistic and totally rewatch-worthy drama!

It was literally so sweet to watch every episode of it even though they were small arguments and separation but the main characters romance seemed so real like as if they were really in love with one another. I am honestly not even very satisfied with the drama and not to mention but the girl's house was beautiful.I noticed it while watching the drama but her house was really beautiful. Jin-A and kyung sun's friendship was really fascinating and I actually envied their relationship. I wish to come across more dramas like this where the couple don't go against one another because of a misunderstanding or because they have lost trust in their relationship.

The beginning eps will sweep you off your feet, then you realize that the main character is the most lovable leading man, it doesn’t exist in real life so towards the end they threw different situations to test the main leads love and you’ll see how it’s supposed to end. I was worried on the last eps but i think they did that for it to be unpredictable. Dont worry its a good ending it may seem hurriedly done but you can paint the picture when acceptance of family members was shown, especially the mum. The main leads are superb and the chemistry is there. I just lost interest towards the end a bit but im still hoping for the best. Its a drama that had a touch on issues on society like sexual harrasment and dating with a huge age gap but it didnt focus on that. The story needs to be improved but it was executed nicely by the actors. Kudos to SHY and JHH

I cannot understand the low rating at all it was 10/10 in my book. I do hate the “separation” tool so often used in these dramas but perhaps it helped her character grow...mom was waaaaay too much for me. Her daughter was well into adulthood and needed no interference from her parents. She had enough to deal with at work...excellent drama.

Haiti May 20 2018 5:06 pm I agree with @Tuttifruity, their chemistry was to the roof, non-beatable!!! Their love felt so real that I had hard time coming back to reality when the drama ended. I was so immersed into their characters. What a perfect couple! I hope they will have more projects together. I also thought the relationships between the actors and PD were so cute. PD and staff took care of the actors so well. They were like family. They produced a heartfelt drama. I want to thank them for a job well done!

Con Mores May 15 2018 7:23 pm One of the best shows to ever be filmed. It is high in detail which some might view it as slow moving but infact it is superb. The camera is steady which catches the painstaking efforts to produce the three dimensional lighting and shots. The scenes are immersed in detail and will be appreciated by cinematography experts. The actors are second to none. Very believable with lots of chemistry between the main characters of Jin-a and Joon-Hee. They are delight to watch. This show is shot so well that it will be the benchmark for future quality shows. Even in twenty years time, this will be talked about and analysised. Thankfully it's new and current now and the accolades should be directed at the actors, writers, crew and most of all, the director. 10/10.

I have so much respect to the writer/director (and actors OF COURSE) for making the viewers slowly fall in love in both characters. How they started getting close, slowly feeling attached and conflicted, falling in love etc. All the skinship is soooo natural! <3

You know when JunHee drops off JinA at her house on first few days, he turns his back and leaves right after JinA gets in. The difference is soooo realistic and heartwarming when they started dating. Can't get enough of each other!

Arihant May 12 2018 9:06 pm I started watching it for about 5 to 6 eps and then stopped bcos the wait for subs is too long.The drama is high quality and even 1 episode here is so much better than many other entire dramas (great OTP,ACTING,realism) and I liked the play on the genre .Will be bingeing on Netflix when it is fully available. NOTE : I never thought there would be a noona romance closer to What's up fox (Superb drama!) but this is pretty close inn a different way.Son Ye Jin really aces it in this one!

Or maybe I am enjoying this drama because I can REALLY relate to it. Like my boyfriend is my friend’s younger brother ??. But honestly, having this kind of rel-ship is not new anymore and I really don’t understand why the mother is overreacting. I will keep watching the drama and I am really enjoying it. The OSTs are the only downside, they make me want to sleep because they sound like lullabies LOLs. It would have been better if they added some korean OSTs or different english songs. But anyways, I’m going to recommend this to my friends. Good job!

Here they kiss in every episode which makes the drama more realistic. I love the chemistry and how slowly (its not but feels like it is cuz the ep are long) the story goes. Its funny how most of the ost is in english ... I like the 'jungle like' one. I fangirl at every smile Jung Hae In makes, really....the last scene in ep 12..... I was like *Ugh stop lieing to him gosh* really love this kdrama ❤️❤️

I haven’t seen any drama with real chemistry like this one. I have to say they are the best. They give me roller coaster emotions. They have done this beautifully without even trying. The OTP has great chemistry that is hardly seen in any kdrama. The story about assault at work place is exceptional. And how a real love can help a woman and man grow to stand up for themselves and others.

I found it so cute how everyone accepted their relationship, except for the mother but well I didn't like her since the beginning, we all knew she was problematic since the moment she told her daughter it was nothing and that it was her fault if her (ex)boyfriend cheated on her. she's clearly not in her right mind, and damn I was so happy when her son put her back on her place in the last episode. I'm not really excited for the next one after I saw the preview, everything's becoming so sad, I just want everyone to be happy.

they should give joon hee 's sister some plot where she meets a boy too, cause the whole plot around the main couple is starting to be stupid. it's getting superfluous.

E May 08 2018 1:31 pm I don't think I'm gonna continue watching this. It was really sweet at first. I also really liked the friendship of Jin Ah and Gyeong Seon. And then it all went downhill from episode 5. I just can't see where the characters are coming from. There is lack of reason everywhere.

I don't mind shows that are slow-paced. I actually appreciate them more because I can understand the story and the characters better. But I just can't understand anyone in this drama. They're making everything about Jun Hui and Jin Ah's relationship a bigger deal than it actually is.

It's a story I can't sympathize with so I won't waste my time anymore.

All of these are just based on my perspective so I hope no one will be offended. Just sharing my objective thoughts.

The story is just about their love story and what more interesting can be revealed? What I can think of is that their families know that Jin A and Joon Hee are dating, and then the pace of the story is gonna be the same.

Jin-As mother doesnt even care about her daughters feelings and keep comparing with other families daughters/sons getting married is just tiring. She basically only care about her reputation.

I am fine with the age gap between Hae In and Ye Jin but the fact that he is the best friend of her brother is just uncomfortable for me. If I try to imagine I hooked up with my lil bro’s friends it just feels UNCOMFORTABLE, ughhh I cant. Well I know its a drama so whatever works

Song Ye Jin is a fave of mine and Jung Hae In in a lead role is a dream come true since I last saw him in while you were sleeping. 2 good actors. But I'm not feeling it! Hae In hasn't even appeared yet and i feel like stopping.

Who ever was in charge of the background music did a crappy job. It was louder than the dialogue and the song choices so far did not enhance the scenes at all. This is a new record, I'm only 6minutes in and I want to give up.

I'll hold on til Hae In appears and see how it is.

You have to love or to be loved to overcome these circumstances. The romance part is nicely done in this drama. The social and cultural sensitivities are quite difficult to discuss, or rarely discussed in other dramas. A very well-rounded drama indeed. I praised all the actors, PD, and staff for their hard work to bring this beautiful drama to all of us. I hope the ending will be a happy one. Fighting!!

I had seen only four episode of this drama ,I personally not like the drama .Actually I am not feel connected with the drama.it is very slow and background music also make it very slow.then background view of scene are also dark means dull .then starting of the story she got dumped by the man and lead actor entering who had feeling for her .then the man who dumped her again come to her life and doing misbehave with her but not a single time she not ask for help and not take help from police.suddenly she has feeling for lead actor but how this feeling started ? Fizmz Apr 28 2018 9:13 am Nice plot. But it seems like most of us think that the age gap is the main concern in this show. I’d love to say that it’s not the age gap but rather the family background of jin ah’s boyfriend that stopped her parents, esp her mom, from accepting joon hee.

I mean whose parents want their kids to get married to someone whose Father has married thrice and have kids from different wives? Totally understand if kyung sun reacted in such a way. A bestfriend whom she never had, grew up with her, Went thru troubles together, she wouldn’t want to lose that if things doesn’t go the way the couple hope. And how does she face jin ah’s Mom after all the affection jin ah’s mom has given her? Oh man the embarrassment.. no wonder she doesn’t want to get married.

I’m so curious how a complete family institution comes into terms with a broken family institution. How far does family background becomes a barrier to one’s love life? The only thing I know that this situation may have a bright future of a happy ending is bcos they all know each other since young.

He has just been in the showbiz industry for 2 years or so and he is getting popular. But, I am afraid I may not watch his upcoming shows because I love him soooo much as Seo Joon Hee.

If only Son Ye Jin could also visit here. With or without Jung Hae In, I will go meet her no matter what. I love this drama, I love JoonHee and Jinah, most of all, I love Son Ye Jin!!! I hope this will have a happy ending or open ending rather than sad ending.

I love the fact that they are making this feel not like a TV series but an actual movie with all the great cinematography (framing, camera movement), soundtrack, script and actors. Everything is so tasteful and every element is combined to create a delightfully sweet, realistic and revolutionary show. I also love how the show tackles gender inequality and other social issues. The whole show is sooo good that I can't even count how many times I've watched it already. I'm in love with the main leads, SYJ and JHI, for their superb acting and amazing chemistry! I have high hopes for the second half of this show!

This drama is so lucky to have SYJ and JHI as main leads. They have great chemistry that I haven’t seen in other Korean dramas. It shows so much love!!! Both are good looking, adorable, and have great acting skills which make the drama worthwhile to watch.

I like the storyline it seems realistic. Seo Joon Hee is seriously complete boyfriend material like guys should watch this drama and take notes. Yoon Jin A is really pretty like they fit each other together. This drama has a lot of romantic scenes like couples in real life would do and I really like it. I also liked their relationship's flow like they just fell for each other and they didn't really have to point things out like it seemed mature. I can't wait for the subs for next episode!!! The lead female is getting told off all the time from her parents, her bosses, her workmates, her little brother, her ex and now her new bf, it makes me feel awkward cause she looks like a grandma. Her bf doesn't look young but acts young, like someone stole his toys off him and he keeps pouting for her to put out. I can't stand the songs either. Stand by your man slowed down like that sounds creepy, when it comes on I keep waiting for a psycho to jump out of a dark alley and grab someone but no it's like the main song for this drama. I'm sure there'll be lots that love this drama and I apologise for the rant but this drama has disturbed me.

This is now my FAVORITE ship and romance of all time (better than DOTS, better than Boys Over Flowers, My Love from the Stars, etc for me). If you love romance, this show is so satisfying to watch. I'm sick of all the murder and terrible evil people shows where women are murdered and abused. In this show, the women stand up for themselves and have self-respect. I love it. The first I've seen Kdrama where they have such a sweet yet playful, sexy, and REALISTIC skinship. Even more than It's Okay That's Love. If you are sick of bad kissing and teenage like relationships, this is how actual emotionally healthy adults have relationships. Both lead characters are so lovable, especially the male lead. At first I didn't think much of him, but by ep 8, he's my all time favorite male lead character.

NINE Apr 22 2018 8:35 am I was about to drop this drama just by watching for a few minutes because of the poor camera angles. Like I would like to see their face close up while talking but it didn't happen. First 2 episodes was not that good because of camera angles and long dialogues (which I skipped some parts) but after that you'll get used to it and it's getting better and better every episode. I will still watched this until the very end :)

You are right, it is not for children to watch. However, children should not be watching dramas anyway, especially on the weekends. They should be outside playing, or inside playing. If they watch TV, then you should turn the channel to a child-rated, children's show and watch that with them. Or watch it later. The drama is not at fault as described in your comment. The only "fault" lies with the mother, who has terrible mothering skills. But, that is all an act and part of the drama.
