Story takes place 2 years after "Chihayafuru Part 2" and Chihaya (Suzu Hirose) is now a high school senior.

Notes

Based on manga series "Chihayafuru" by Yuki Suetsugu (first published December 28, 2007 in Japanese manga magazine Be Love). "Chihayafuru" won the 2nd Manga Taisho (annual Japanese manga award) in 2009.
Filming begins early May, 2017 and finishes late June, 2017.

Tata Aug 24 2020 11:36 am Well, when I saw the clips from the anime, I thought that Arata would be the best option for Chihaya. They also share the same purpose, on top of that. However since I saw Taichi did his best in karuta, I began to think that he's "the one". However, I can't really think about the couple. I think that audiences should be watching the progress of Taichi from "making karuta club just because of Chihaya" into "becoming strong because of karuta". I think the point is the progress of Taichi.

I love the way they show every movement in Karuta Champion, I love how each character expressed their feeling, I'm glad that I have watched the anime and anticipated this live action so much. dzeke Dec 04 2018 9:12 am Musubi closed the curtain beautifully. couldn't be more satisfied than this. director did a good job, he did taiyou no uta and liar and lover too. while liar and lover suck ass, i kinda liked taiyou no uta as that's one of the movie that made me into j.movies.

again, good job. what a great adaptation, worth a year wait from me :)

p.s. i absolutely adore that painting-style animation at the end also why my comment not appearing zzz

Since the Meijin wasn't mentioned and Chihaya yet didnt mention who she likes, it's only obvious it's gonna have a part 4. If that's really gonna happen, looking forward to it ^^ Taichi is so amazing I almost died...

- In the end, it was an open ending. Chihaya didn't end up with anyone. - Only Arata confessed, Taichi didn't. - No mention who became the Meijin.

Also, I think it's sad how the LAs underuse Arata A LOT. Hopefully he gets more screentime this time. Interestingly, I feel that the LAs so far have focused on Taichi even more so than Chihaya! I can't wait to see this movie :)
