Nam Haeng-Seon (Jeon Do-Yeon) used to be a national athlete. She now runs a side dish store. She has a super positive personality and unlimited like stamina. She takes another turn and enters the private education field, which is for students preparing for their university entrance exam. Unexpectedly, Nam Haeng-Seon gets involved with Choi Chi-Yeol (Jung Kyoung-Ho).

Choi Chi-Yeol is a popular instructor in the private education field and is known as Ilta Instructor (most popular instructor). He works hard at his job. As an instructor to his students, he speaks without reserve and implements showmanship in his lessons. He has accumulated wealth and fame as a popular instructor, but, with increasing success, he has become more sensitive, prickly, and indifferent to people. He then meets Nam Haeng-Seon with her super positive personality and never ending stamina. The relationship between Nam Haeng-Seon and Choi Chi-Yeol develops romantically.

KimKumoriJinskye Jan 26 2025 1:30 pm Okay for those people in the comments that made me think twice about watching this series prolly hate romcoms? It is totally easy to watch. A lot of staple casts are also here so it gives a great sense of familiarity as a non knetizen viewer.

I was also a bit skeptical abt the FL at 1st but I think she portrayed the role really well. I usually skip dramas when I dont like/know the leads. But the FL here did superb acting. She brought to life a persona of someone who did it all by herself, incorporating an athlete mentality as well. You wouldn't expect a FL who is oozing with femine & sexy energy in this situation, that wouldnt be realistic given everything she's been through - so props to the styling team! ?

As for ML, I'm just head over heels for him after watching Prison Playbook! He's such an amazing actor. I'm getting delulu because of him hahahaha! My female hormones are hormonizing! ?

Ro Nov 04 2024 4:30 am This started out really good. Easy, cheesy, nice enough rom/com. What was a little strange was the murder/suspect subplot, which I honestly tried my best to skip through. I loved Nam Ha-E, she was so cute and her storyline was captivating as well. The Female lead was annoying at times, and as i was watching some scenes I was like this is too much. But, it's a nice, chill drama, easy enough to watch.

There was a dialogue when the ML said “she looks young and doesn’t look like she has a daughter” I was like WTH?! She looks like she has a college graduate son/daughter. Don’t be lying like that. LOL. I was thinking maybe Jang Nara could fit the role or Lee Min Jung. I couldn’t see their chemistry at all cause she looked liked his older sister.

Speacially the FL and the ML Jung kyung Ho,and Jeon Do Yeon are ma favor Actors i will always watch any project they are involved in. After reading comments I'm kind of amezed how we as a society preceive romantic relationships; if you are a woman over 40 years you no longer allowed to be happy and date a younger partener? And I'm also amezed how most keep saying that the FL is not beautiful and she old??? This is a story of adults people who meet in that time of they life and fell in love, they are not in their 20. And why He (ML) even if he is rich and celebrity ,have to fell in love with young so called beautiful women??? He chose her and fell for her . it won't matter to him that she is 5 years or less beautiful than those He meet in other circumstances. I think all Actors did a very good job portrying their characters and writers and directors did well making the story to the drama My favor couple of 2023 Ms Nam and professor Choi Chi ?????

If they make him simple, humble and down to earth, their romantic story would be more believable. I had goosebumps whenever they expressed their feelings to each other. It was so unnatural and cringe.

hisame Oct 09 2023 3:54 am I know people were criticizing the age but i think it was mostly how it was portrayed the FM and ML when they were younger to older (since she looked younger than him in the flashback) but aside from that as a woman whos dating a younger man i loved this relationship also I love how good she portrayed a former athlete; not as feminine, mature as her age but also quirky and sporty she wasn't a fashion girl and that's okay. Their romance wasn't intense but was effing cute It made me smile and laugh cause it was actually 2 adults falling in love instead of teenager or fresh 20 year olds. Spoiler/// I also love how at the end she was the one who popped the question without looking desperate but level headed that was something so refreshing to see. (this is my support to the FL) aside from that everyone else did good

Jaine Jun 30 2023 6:59 am I am trying to figure out my feelings about this show. Obviously it has elements of being the perfect Korean drama with drunkenness, school kids who have to get tutoring and then are jealous, teachers who are jealous, school moms acting super controlling, side dishes to make a meal complete and some social Media bullying. Maybe the writer just started with those premises. The murder mystery was woven in with a cop and politics shutting down his investigation. All of those elements must plague many Koreans since the writer seemed to want to bring them to the forefront as issues to notice, woven in the fabric of a romance comedy. . Here is my wish list. I wish the FL could have stopped lying sooner about her fake marriage. The constant lying was why I left Turk dramas to come to Korean writers instead. It is a trademark of the Turk story line. I wish she had had at least one photo of her mom in the house so the mystery could have been solved sooner but the way it was finally solved was a perfect array of flash back memories. I wish the ML had put out a notice to girls that the police would be called asap and he would stop calling a cab for them when they followed him home. I wish the writer didn’t lose the wrap up about that dead girl. I mean never mentioned again! So weird. I wish the show wrapped up at 12 episodes because it was hard to watch the FL be a control freak and at the same time bowing to her junior. Was she conflicted about a crush or just trying to mimic the other obsessed moms. It was enervating and really unsettling for me, but she was a champion really in the hard life she had had. I wish the selfish mother had made some contact earlier but I get why that wasn’t where the plot was. But it made it hard to watch her being a grifter when I had seen a similar absent mom grifter in the show Chocolate that was even more harsh so in comparison she was slightly likeable. I mean I had some hope for her, which is then that I realized that all the negative type characters could have been shown in such a way for us to see why someone liked them, which wasn’t the case until ep16. I wish each episode had given us a reason or a glimpse with more detail to like the unlikable people. The suspension of good when the bad people were bad or the wives were being catty or the kids being secretive or mean or weird, like the brother with no flashbacks to give us reasons to like him or them; it was too much. Suddenly the last episode we can see their good side? It made the whole thing more like an American drama of cartoon characters where some are bad and others are good instead of the fact that each person can have both. I came to Korean drama after Turk drama where back in the BehzatÇ era of turk tv every character had a back story to glimpse into why we could love them with their faults. I wanted to do that here but had to wait until the 16th episode. Anyway the anyway part of the writing was really my favorite. And when she passed the test, that scene was so realistic to me because I would have yelled in joy like he did and my students would have cheered. Great scene of joy!!

PS: the casting was interesting especially to see favorite actors in this. Plus I wish we had a side dish store here. Great idea.

Honestly this is still one of my favorites drama after few months,I love Heong seon and chi yeol chemistry,everytime they had a cute scene together,I gotta replay it for countless time,but in the early episodes the FL does a few things that made me get second hand embarrassment but I still love them , though I got to admit , the murder mysteries part is kind of boring(personal opinion,since I am not really into mysteries, solving case, thriller ect..) hae yi should have ended up with geon ho,they had so much potential,I really hope that the drama had more episodes but I aren't complaining since I got the ending I was hoping for(a happy ending for the FL and the ML, this honestly recovered me from the sad ending kdramas I watched)

PS what are these stupid remarks about a woman dating a younger man??? An older man with a younger woman is ok but the other way around not??? Love is not smthg you can program, it just happens and has no age boundaries. And @Nope: a woman of 50 dating a man of 39 = 11 yrs difference and not 21!!! And where or what is the problem with that?

Peace May 07 2023 12:14 am According to the script book nam haengseon is supposed to be 44 and chiyeol is 39! So I think jeon do yeon fit the role really well! She also portrayed her more likeable and so cute. Her styling was very ahjumma style but it fit the character lol

I guess because I am not totally familiar with Korean culture, but why are the students so offended if he had feelings for a married woman? How does that affect their studying? That part of the story, I just don't get it. Why does his personal business have anything to do with teaching the academy students?

Queenie Apr 06 2023 8:27 pm I watched this drama because of Jung Kyoung Ho. I love his acting (especially in Hospital playlist ) and find his romantic scenes believable. I love his fashion Sense as well! I think the Jeon Do - Yeon played her role well, but while she is pretty,I think, her overall fashion sense was so opposite of his that I had a hard time with them paired together. As for the mother group, their acting was on spot. They made you hate them. I hope this isn’t what still happens wiaa with education in So Korea, but I have a feeling it does. Very scary. I thought the brother did good acting as a person on the spectrum.and overall I smiled a lot . Soo. I liked it.

Falonee Apr 02 2023 11:52 pm I'm still spellbound by Choi ssaem. The way he gazed at his love so lovingly is so captivating, even though I disapprove of JDY playing the FL. Just a few puzzles: 1. Why would the writer build up Ji Dong-hui character so bloody well but kill him off in a suicide (ok suicide is fine) but then have everyone esp Nam Hae-ee magically gets over him as if she forgot the reason she was in the hospital. 2. How can a huge secret of Nam Haeng-seon's fake marriage and fake husband survived so well in a neighborhood of gossipers and with a household of Nam Jae-woo who finds telling lie is difficult due to his condition. 3. Not enough karma receives by Su-a's mother. She should suffer more

NSHS Mar 17 2023 1:54 am Still in the midst of watching and it’s quite enjoyable so far. Unfortunately Jeong does look a little too matured for Jung. Think the show would’ve been even better if either of their roles were done by another actor. I’m very open to older woman younger man but in this case it felt more like an older aunt with her nephew. A difference of 5 years lesser physically would do well. But the drama managed to pull through because their acting carried the roles.

I am writing the comment even before completing the drama because I found two storylines in it too similar to School 2013, KBS’s drama 10 years ago. Couldn’t contain the curiosity and had to come here to check on the writer. They are different writers. The similar storylines I’m referring to are:

1) male lead being a star private teacher earning plenty, yet with a backstory of huge trauma from an ex-student. In Daniel Choi’s case (2013), the student killed herself and he blamed himself.

2) the lawyer’s family. In School 2013 there was also a family with 2 sons, one a well-behaved student and an older brother who didn’t step out of his room any more because of performance pressure from his mother.

Nevertheless it is an enjoyable watch and the director is good (with just a problem of some nameless walk-through roles overacting and camera lingering a little too long in those moments).

Renwa Mar 13 2023 12:57 pm This is a tough review to write as there are many positives to enjoy but some distractions that needed attention in this drama. I had just come off rewatching both seasons of Hospital Playlist where Jung Kyoung Ho delivered a strong sterling performance. He’s a pro and didn’t disappoint in Crash Course in Romance. In fact most cast members (so many favorites!) were excellent in crafting their characters. The story lines were engaging although not necessarily equally energized. In fact, each of the romantic subplots never seemed to rise to their potential…they all lacked some/any degree of “sizzle.” I think I understood the two main Ml & FL and maybe reasons for their depiction but here is where you lost me. The FL in relation to ML was lacking despite the action oriented emotive quality of the performances. The drama didn’t maximize or support the FL physical presentation through hair, makeup, clothes in a manner to advance the romance. The Fl character lacked charisma & sufficient development with the ML. Charisma? This is not to criticize anyone’s acting skills but more the crafting of the characters. The writing and editing left in too much boring filler scenes. All that said it was a satisfactory watch with some good suspenseful moments. Recommended.

I am feeling mixed emotions at the moment, since I didn’t get enough from them :( Kyung ho’s acting is on another level, I really admire his acting and watched many of his dramas before. Never disappoints ??

:-) Mar 06 2023 8:34 am What a good drama! Such a strong, fresh cast. The chemistry between the pairs were obviously there. Good and interesting plot, did not bore me one second. I LOVE the happy ending for all of them. I hope the young adults get a second season, because it left me hanging a little lol. You don’t need a young cast to love a drama, and Crash Course in Romance proved it! Wish I could rewatch it like the first time.

I personally thought it was a beautiful and emotional ending to the series that ties all the loose ends for the characters. This is one of my favorite K-dramas of 2023 mostly due to the performances of Jeon Do-yeon and Jung Kyung-ho. I am happy to have been on this journey which mirrors the ups-and-downs of life. And the message that I gained from this series is life becomes easier when we have those around us to support us. A satisfying drama with heartfelt moments that I won’t forget.

Steve Mar 05 2023 2:39 pm Good drama. Decent story. Strong acting. However, this drama, like all 16 episode k-dramas, was too long by three or 4 episodes. The point of introducing Hae-E's birth mother was unnecessary. If the writer was looking for closure on this topic, it would have been more interesting to make the birth mother regretful and contrite from the start. Hae-E could have then been genuinely torn between her mother (aunt) and birth mother. As it was, Hae-E's reaction to move with her mother was surprising and inconsistent. K-drama studios, if you're listening, shorter dramas means less filler.

It'll probably scare Haeng Ja that now she'll truly have to become a mother when she already is in debt (seems like it) so probably Haeng Ja will accept her incapability and the truth that Haeng Seon is now her mom and leave them alone.

Other than that , this series seems so fresh and happy. I like it. It's a comfort watch. Something to watch when you feel down. Sad it's coming to an end but happy to have gone through this journey!

The scene before the potential accident with the car was relevant to show that she does not accept being contradicted. She becomes annoying.

I’m also pretty sure he’s the girl’s brother but was hoping that’s all there was to his story - and why he seems a bit attached to the teacher. The way the lawyer’s son was acting, it seemed like he knew the person and was extremely traumatized but that could also just be from the fact that he witnessed the murders. Idk but it seems weird that the killer didn’t go after the blogger mom after she caused such a huge mess for the teacher so I’m wondering why they’d go after everyone else but her. The killer is either Mr. Ji or a student - someone athletic most likely. Hopefully, it’s not the guy who hangs around with the FLs daughter.

The story is so refreshing, Kim Yeong-joo is always great, I always love Kim Sun-young & is always delightful to watch, but she’s doing a fantastic job of making me really dislike her as the manipulative, busy body, helicopter mother.! Oh Yiu-seek is also doing a fine job, as are the kids. Ron Yoon-Seo was also enjoyable in Our Blues. Too many stellar actors to name! I hate to think that Choi Chi-yeol’s assistant may be the murderer. I love how loyal he is…and he’s cute. I can’t wait to watch this drama AGAIN with my husband. He’ll love it as well. We’ll watch the last episode of The Interest of Love tonight. The actors are great, but the characters are way too dysfunctional & it’s exasperating. Crash Course in Romance is why we are so addicted to K-dramas. Great writing & directing!

But c’mon, she’s so socially inept when it comes to dealing with those mom and the ML.

It’s so hard to believe the rom part of this rom-com, seriously.

Overbearing, overzealous moms gossiping and competing with each other… Am I the only one who thinks that K-drama plots are getting old, too?

On a separate note, Geon-Hoo and Soon-Jae bromance is cute!

His motivation is to protect Mr. Choi but in the wrong way (beside the fact that he is the brother of Su Hyeon) if the killer is Sunjae’s brother until episode 9 I don't see a relation between him and Mr. Choi. never shown any signs that he knows Mr choi, maybe it will be revealed later too. I think Sunjae’s brother is just obsessed with iron marbles, he's not the real murderer. This drama is good but somehow is to slow, to much Nam Haeng Seon’s scenes, we already know that their story from the beginning, I hope for the rest episodes they can reveal stories of Mr Choi, Mr Ji, Sungjae’s brother and Su Hui’s fam (after her mom find out his husband has mistress lol).

On the other hand, male lead really makes me starve for korean authentic food, specially panchans. I went straight to authentic korean restaurant with real korean cooks right after watching first 3 eps. drooling.

What I didn't really expect was the story of each character. For me, the past moments shown are very touching and memorable. This might be random but what if the killer is the student who had to quit his sport?? Idk seems like the killer being the assistant is a bit too perfect. I do think he’s the missing brother but he may not be the killer. This is a good mystery though. Loving the series so far and I hope they keep the comedic elements.

Kim Sun Young, the best; Jang Young-Nam just watched her in It's Okay to Not be Okay, so compelling; Lee Bong-Ryun, I smile every time she's on screen. I love the plot, but I agree with others that the FL seems a little too old for the ML.

I think if they renamed the show, "The Way to A Man's Heart", then the storyline might be more believable. Maybe the series will move in that direction.

dee Jan 29 2023 11:59 am the first few episodes were really fun but i think the latest ep 5 & 6 were a bit boring to be honest, the story/plot itself is interesting especially about the mysterious case but the directing(?) for the story progression was a bit out of place imho.. like eg the camping scene could be made a lot better than it was like the vibes etc but there was actually nothing happened? like just them having tiki-taka and no other interaction whatsoever so it was nothing like expected lol, or the scenes in the apartment where the ML is stressed? and other scenes too, could be lack of bgm? too i think so i kind of can't really feeling the feels/vibes

and some awkward acting from few casts esp the students.. hope the next episodes are better since the plot are interesting!

This characters tho quite exaggerate, is almost close to the real life condition. While the woman need to stay alive, well, and strong to support people around here.

I hope writer-nim could keep the fun, and the dynamic throughout 16 episodes.

If you ever watch some of Korean blockbuster movies like Memories of the Sword, Beasts Clawing At Straws, Birthday, The Shameless or Emergency Declaration you will know how amazing she is
