Set in Qin Dynasty during the warring states period in ancient China. Shin (Kento Yamazaki) was a war orphan. He has a dream of becoming a great general Shin has a fateful encounter with young King Eisei (Ryo Yoshizawa). King Eisei aims to unify all of China.

Notes

Based on manga series "Kingdom" by Yasuhisa Hara (first published 2006 in weekly Japanese magazine Weekly Young Jump).
Filming began in April, 2018 in China. After finishing filming in China, shooting took place in Japan for about one and a half months.
Movie's theme song is “Wasted Nights” by rock band One Ok Rock.

abz Jan 26 2022 5:49 am the movie is okay compared to other historical action movies and the action skills of kento is just okay , kanna hashimoto acting is clingy I dont see her in any action film since her face and acting is clingy I think since she has a baby face I think her acting is more suitable in shojo or romance only. in all 5/10 rate in my opinion:)

I always believe that Japanese will do right if anything comes directly from anime cause the environment and state of anime is similar to Japanese culture so im not complaining. It will be a good thing if they can make sequel to this just like Rurouni kenshin.

Good job to all actors/actresses, and shoutout to Kento Yamazaki for perfectly fulfilling his role as Shin. :D Fell in love with him here - if you are a fan of his, a must-watch.

In his twitter, Yasuhisa Sensei said that he was so excited 'bout this movie, he also visited the shooting scene couple of times. So..im wondering why you questioned Yasuhisa Sensei's decision o.O

nemnem Oct 11 2018 8:44 am WTF! Kento not even close to be Shin. I'm a fan of the manga and anime of Kingdom. I can't picture Kento acting as Shin, even on trailer I can't see Shin. They should just continue animating the manga instead of this.

I read that the manga creator, Hara Sensei himself, chose Kento to play as Shin on 2016 movie, and now Hara Sensei also involved in the screenplay, so i guess it'll be amazing (i love the manga, not much into the anime tho). Can't wait for April 2019, i really hope that this movie will be screened outside Japan *fingerscrossed*
