Lee Yeon (Lee Dong-Wook) was once the mountain spirit of Baekdudaegan. He sacrificed his life as a mountain god to resurrect the life of the woman he loved A Eum. Lee Yeon now lives his life as a nine tailed fox in human form. He has lived this way for hundreds of years.

Meanwhile, Nam Ji-A (Cho Bo-Ah) works for TVC station as a PD of documentaries. She seeks out stories on the supernatural. Back in 1999, her parents were involved in a car accident in Yeou Gogae. She remembers a man that saved her in that accident. Now, Nam Ji-A reviews CCTV footage from a wedding hall where the bride disappeared. She sees the man that saved her as child walking out the wedding wall with a red umbrella. His name is Lee Yeon.

country bumpkin Jan 11 2025 7:58 am This sort of story telling if you follow the series wholeheartedly with open mind and a good receptive mood or relaxed feeling when you start watching, would take you on a journey that would bring you to faraway places. Might exhaust you quite a bit by the time you are about to reach the finale. Then you got a bit of almost like jet lag effect. At least to me, that was what happened. My compliment to the writing team. Awesome story.

The writers ran out of ideas and kept extending each episode longer for no reason. The love story was too dramatic and be honest there was no drama. I like the acting in the cast just destroy your line was not worth 16 episodes

Blanca Trueba Mar 15 2024 9:31 am Have completed all 16 episodes of season 1. I have mixed feelings about the ending. Episode 15 was the climax and I found episode 16 to be a bit boring and dragged. Rang was my favourite character in the drama and I'm a bit sad that he had to sacrifice his life for Yeon to be reincarnated.

The brotherhood chemistry between Yeon and Rang is the best feature of this drama, much better than the romantic chemistry between Yeon and Jia. Kim Bum, the actor portraying Lee Rang performed awesomely making me fall in love with his character. That said, Lee Dong Wook and Jo Bo Ah also did a very good performance, and so did the remaining cast, especially the ahjummas portraying Tailupa (the god in charge of between life and death) and the Snail Bride restaurant owner. The child actress portraying young Jia (Park Da-yeon) also did a great job.

Overall, I enjoyed watching the drama.

Her transformation between her normal Ji-ah and her villain side when she was possessed by the imoogi is outstanding. Her acting is on par with those of Lee Dong Wook's and Kim Beom's.

I love them.

The brotherly love part looks seeminglessly natural and believable. Something is a bit off about the couple leads. It didn't look natural and believable to me..

But I so much love this series. It's one of my best Korean series. Get your popcorn ? & soft drinks ?. Sit comfortablely & Enjoy the series. It's worth it.❤️

I hope they would make a movie with Lee don wook and Jo Bo AH with Kim boem called Tail of the nine tailed baby being a comedy with Lee Don wook and Jo Bo AH being the parents of a mischievous little nine tailed fox baby and Kim boem is the uncle that would be very interesting to see how they would go about keeping him out of mischief especially when he starts teething

Shay Dec 04 2023 5:07 pm Only watching the 1st season because the 2nd season was so much fun. But be warned: the 1st and 2nd seasons are two different genres. That is probably what confuses ppl who thought they were getting more of the same thing. The seasons are actually two disconnected storylines, different timelines, and different genres altogether. Still fantasy, but 1st one is definitely about love/mystery. And the 2nd one is reprising most of the cast and action/comedy/mystery. Very, very different feel.

I don’t know why there were lots of fans who ship Wookie to Jo Bo Ah (even arguing with LDW-Yoo In Na shippers), where I don’t see chemistry between the two. I’m sorry but I don’t like her acting there and I felt that the series was much better if they just focused the story on the 2 brothers and not on romance. The second season was wayyyy better and I’m glad JBA was not included there.

I watched it because the story is interesting and i know Lee dong wok and Kim beom are good actors but i find it difficult to appreciate Nam ji a’s character. I dont like it when shes glaring and making her eyes big, somewhat irritating, she could pass for a villain character.

Clourielle May 28 2023 10:15 am Honestly this drama was amazing! The perfect amount of horror, fantasy, romance, action, and also i loove the bromance between Lee rang and Lee yeon! Their chemistry is amazing. Also the acting for Lee yeon and Lee rang was amazing. The first minute of this kdrama was not bad, at first it was kinda intense with all that mystery + horror. But after that the romance was amazing. I love the way Lee rang and Lee yeon relationship were going. They are both amazing actors, they suited their character so much. Lee rang actually is a charming character! I was mesmerized! It was actually greatt, just wishing there would be more bromance scene tho! Because I think a lot of people enjoys the bromance scene more than the relationship between Lee yeon and Jia, and i do agree. Its not that the first lead couple was bad it didn't give me that spark other romance couple gave i was more entertained with the bromance scene because their chemistry is so good and adorable. Even though the ending was kinda dissapointing but its still happy ending for Lee yeon and Jia. I just kinda wish there were no sacrafice. I cried a lot in the ending but it was still such a good drama! The ending left a big impression on me lmao. Overall really good I love it!

deliriouslin May 28 2023 9:00 am Was totally excited when they first announced this drama and with the trailer, wow, the effects were so good. When it started the fight scene between Lee Yeon and Lee Rang was so exciting and fun!

Filled with fun, mystery and Korean folklore history fantasy characters that make the plot beyond imagination! The love story btw ML and FL was an endless hardship and ML finally found his love in this lifetime. The effects on FL almost turning to a demon was so good too.

The love-hate relationship btw the brothers brings tears and laughter so much, totally a good drama :)

I’ve seen a few of his shows and he gets more and more handsome! When he raises his eyebrows…….yikes! I found his co star beautiful and also think the cast was good. I look forward to more of these row main characters.

Agree that LDW and Jo Bo Ah are lack of chemistry, however it is still okay.. Kim Boem is very handsome and good in acting.. overall, I really like this drama.. recommended for those who love fantasy genre..

The horror was intriguing enough but it was always interrupted with cliched cheesy romance scenes which didn’t bring any romance. Plot holes left lying around and not filled, so am I supposed to fill it in with my own imagination?

At first, I started to watch this drama because of Kim Beom -- I love him after watching Law School and want to watch more of his dramas --, but soon I enjoy Tale of the Nine Tailed. For me, it's like a mix of Goblin and Harry Potter, since Imoogi reminds me of Voldemort, haha. The story, plot, script, and acting are all good. Hopefully it won't disappoint me until the end. And ohh, Kim Beom is sooo handsome ^_^. Lee Dong Wook is handsome too, but I love Kim Beom more. Looking forward to his new project.

KST Oct 15 2021 10:16 am I just finished watching this series Tale of nine tailed. It was really amazing. I really overjoyed watching this. The plot story was really impressive. It is not just another gumiho story but a fantasy of immortal love.This story is full of romance ,frendships ,fantasy,comedy and all. Apart from the story the acting was amazing. All most all the actors have really acted well. This is my first time watching a drama of Jo bo-ah and I think she is a talented actress.Lee dong wook and kim bum have portrayed their characters very well.kim bum's acting is really impressive and he acts very emotionally his role. Lee tae ri also has portrayed his role good. All the actors have done their job very nicely.The series ends up with an opening and it is said that they have confirmed season two and three of this series. I hope they will knit the season two with a nice plot like this with the same main leads.LOL!!! So what I have to tell is watching tailed of nine tail will not be a time wasting but a nice experience with love and fantasy!!!! Just watch this if you are into romantic fantasy dramas. And when I started watching it, honestly, it's really really good. I really wanna thank the casts who gave their very best to make this drama a success. Thank you very much to this drama! I really felt the chemistry of the both main cast lee dong wook and Jo bo ah. This is my favorite Korean drama at all times.

nasuira Sep 30 2021 3:23 pm i watched this because i love fantasy but kim beom makes me stay. he's so handsome bruh im upset that i didnt know him before. the male casts are all perfect for the roles, including shin ju. and tbh i am more interested with shin ju and yu ri's love story rather than lee yeon and ji a's. maybe ldw and jba doesn't have the chemistry. im excited for the next season and will definitely watch it if kim beom is still there lol. overall, its a good drama but sometimes the plot didnt make sense. ig thats what fantasy is lol

Lee Sep 30 2021 6:34 am Must get my vote in for the female lead for season 2. Yu In Ah definitely for pairing with Lee Dong Wook, she has always had the best chemistry with him. But there are two guys here, Kim Bum as well. Their bromance is important.

Also it is a dark fantasy, so who better than Seo Yi Ji who was so brilliant in the dark fantasy It’s Okay not to be Okay. Great at comedy too, black humour. It’s time she was brought back from the cold, she’s done her time, it was blown out if all proportion and it was not all her fault. She is beautiful, brilliant, great actress and born to do dark fantasy. She would make the drama an instant ratings and international hit. The world is waiting for her.

Ellen Sep 29 2021 6:45 am I don’t usually like fantasy, but this is a really well made dark fantasy with a tight complex plot line interwoven with comedy. Just love the bromance between the brothers. Always love KIm Bum, first time I like LDW who is usually too weak, but here he is strong and good. No chemistry between him and the beautiful girl, but I will watch a season 2 for the story line and the brothers and how the writer has somehow made all human problems seem unimportant. How about Nam Ji Hyun for the girl? She is the right age, good at romance and excellent at comedy, can also do period drama. They would be a funny trio and all good actors.

AssCheek Sep 14 2021 6:42 pm 5.5/10 It was just missing a lot. Main leads connection wasn’t that interesting, I couldn’t care less about them, whether they had died or not lol. FL’s acting is good but could’ve been better. I couldn’t really distinguish the difference between her and the imoogi within her. They say that she’s a director but she seems more like just a writer and researcher for the show. Was looking forward to seeing more in the TV Live Studio action but was disappointed with that. Only kept watching because of Kim Beom lol. Yuri, Shinju and their little family at the end was the cutest thing and all their interactions were cool to watch. Good cast! Would I recommend to others? Nehhhh I wasn’t really hooked in on the first episode either but stay safe y’all

Gave up halfway at epi 12 and decided to save the remaining time for other more deserving shows. Romance is too cheesy/cliched and plotholes somewhere. FL's parents can just "come back to life out of nowhere after 21 years" so easily and not explain properly too just becos the writer want a happy ending for FL's family. I only like the two MLs bromance which is more interesting to watch. Even the second lead couple is cuter (the vet and the fox gal) and more interesting than the first lead couple. I like the two MLs' acting though. Maybe the lead actress cannot carry the role well and the plot is not too good.l too. The Taulipa (Hell God's sister) is very irritating to watch as well. She is too coldhearted and knows a lot of stuff but always keep the secrets and never reveal them and these caused a lot of trouble to the lead characters.

xin Aug 07 2021 1:41 pm i did not regret watching this... i've read the reviews here and most of them commented on their chemistry which made me hesitate to watch but wow, how could they be more wrong? their chemistry was amazing, you could feel their romance and the sincereness. this drama was great, the production, story and cgi, it was actually pretty great.

I'm at episode 7 already. At this point, everything is great except the leads. I don't know when did they fall in love with each other. There is actually no scene that tells about it. It's like they fell in love out of scene, thus, making me and most people don't feel any chemistry between them.

At first I assumed it's gonna be a romance drama. Turns out, it is not the major part of the drama. I love it. I think just from the intro song you can guess it's not gonna be majorly focused on romance.

Ep.1-3 The whole story goes fluidly to connect one scene to another. There are some romance, mystery, family feud, quick-witted, potential love between supporting actors, and historical scenes. TBH, the mystery that connects both leads and their faces are what keeping to watch it, for now. PLus, the bright female lead which I always love in any drama.

VERDICT: Definitely worth watching

They did it great and production was not cheap. But yeah, the chemistry between the two leads seems a bit lacking. I was instead get attached to others characters, like the bortherhood, the reincarnation of husband, dog, and the doctor, the two friends, the diety husband and wife, for short, almost everyone did great. Overall, this is still worth watching ( though i skip most of the leads scenes, i just cant get to their connections somehow, but individually, i say, they did great. Still 8/10 for me.

This is my first time watching a kdrama that has no chemistry at all. When they go loovey dovey I immediately change the speed to times 2 or skip it lol. I honestly have high expectations to this drama since it’s LDW & KB. But what made me finish this series is the bromance (Brotherly love relationship of Yeon & Rang) & cute unpected couple, Vet & the girl rang saved. Overall i would rate this drama 5.5/10.

There are way too many plot holes and question left unanswered throughout the story. Even the side plots have better execution than the main plot. And the female lead, ugh.. i hate her character and the actress performance. Probably becase she has to act alongside more experienced actor so they outshined her.

If you're looking for star crossed lovers and heartwarming romance and youre fine with ignoring plot holes then go ahead watch this drama, you'll have a good time. Lee dong wook's performance in this drama is superbly top notch and his character is done well. You'll get to learn many korean folktales as well.

Honestly i enjoyed watching this, i just need to turn blind eye for many things but i enjoyed it nonetheless.

The cast gave this a chance, LDW ( but not his best ) Kim Bum, Yeon hyo Seop, the little boy, the vet. Jo Bo - Ah was in over her head, too hard for her and her part not well written. She’s done some good support roles.

The plot was so full of holes it was like a Swiss cheese. Green marble??? Cliche after cliche, they were all in there. Hung in for the cast then devastated by Rang dying and Yeon coming back. 
But KB and LDW bounce off each other really well, can even see them in a comedy together.

I was aalso kind of upset with Lee Rang's character ending. In my opinion he had one of the best character developments from having a grudge against his brother and trusting no one to rekindling his relationship with his bro and having people to call his family. Just tossed out the window so the main leads can have a happily ever after. Yes I know he gets reborn...but still...

I did enjoy the scenes in the hungry ghost forest and also when the bros tag teamed to trick the CEO.

Personally, I really love the incorporation of legends and mythological creatures and I think this drama did really well in that aspect. The chemistry between the cast members was also really great and a joy to watch. The acting, although overall great, was a bit cheesy sometimes, especially in the beginning. The leads are great, but this drama is definitely was that's carried by the whole cast, which is great, because stories like this tend to get too concentrated on the leads. I did not like the ending. I'm not going to spoil anything, but people who have watched the drama will know. Some people will like it and others will not and I belong to the latter. So I said, overall I enjoyed this drama and I would recommend to people who like me like stories about mythological creatures and supernatural settings.

Honestly, it annoyed me how much people hyped up Lee Rang’s character when he honestly did some pretty bad things. His storyline was too sobby and crybaby for me, I think that viewers found that to be more interesting than the leads story (Lee Yeon and Ji Ah) which I found to be pretty stupid. Lee Yeon and Ji Ah’s love story was absolutely phenomenally written and I can’t believe some people actually preferred Lee Yeon dying than Lee Rang when in the end Lee Rang did alot of damage to several situations throughout the show. Overall, I think the ending was absolutely perfect and everyone got what they deserved. Ji Ah was my favorite character of course, and Jo Bo Ah did a spectacular job at portraying her. She was definitely a badass female character that many Kdramas needed to start showing. Finally, Lee Yeon and Ji Ah!! Best Kdrama Couple Everrr!

LDW and Kim Beom have a great bromance and his character shines so much in contrast to Kim Beom’s character. They both bring so much depth into their on-screen chemistry. The plot gets long-ish but it’s not boring, afaik. Everything feels like it gets wrapped up well all the characters get their dues. Overall a really satisfying fantasy drama.

It's a kind of romantic but also scary, frightening and thrilled drama. So if u wanna watch something that it's not too romantic, you'd watch "The tale of the nine-tailed". Also, while i waited to watch the other episodes, i was so captured by it that i wanted to know what would happen after that scene and the OST are great too?

I binged watched it till I caught up to unaired episodes (ep 1-12). Don’t understand people who didn’t like the drama. What was there to dislike. The good guys mostly had a happy ending. The bad brother became a good guy. The main couple got married (although their wedding was just the two of them). The bad people were defeated. Do you even like kdramas? So there were a lot of things I loved about this drama: - LDW (Yeon), KB (Rang), LTR (Teddy/Imogi) and KJY's (Yuri) acting was fantastic, especially LTR was mind-blowing. - The dramas soundtrack (the piano ost makes me cry everytime since ep. 2). - The overall storyline. I'm normally not much into fantasy dramas but this one was really good, especially because they include so many korean mythology creatures and legends in a modern world context. I also really liked the love story, since I think there's something catchy and special about the whole "waiting for the lost love and giving your life for love"-thing. Don't come at me, I'm a romantic. - The relationship between Yeon and Rang, Rang and Yuri and the love story between Yeon and A eum. - The overall scenery (awesome special effects, beautiful nature scenes)

But there were also a lot of things I didn't like: - JBA's (Jia) acting. I know a lot of people enjoyed her acting but also some people hated it. As for me, I could clearly see this was her first challenging role. In most of her dramas so far, she usually played the role of the "sweet heart" which imo suited her better. Jia's role was just a little to hard for her to play which she btw also admitted during an interview about the drama. I don't think it was bad overall, but she tried too hard, and a lot of her facial expressions and gestures seemed rehearsed and it didn't appear naturall in a lot of scenes. I think this really affected the chemistry between Jia and Yeon and made it seem unnaturall and a bit weird sometimes. - Jia's character and development. Honestly, Jia was too much for me in the beginning. How she threw herself from that skyscraper was just unrealistic. Also she not only seems like a wannabe-though person, but I also hated how selfish and heartless she was. Watching hundreds of people die, including nearly her best friend, just so she can have things her way. Watching all over her loved ones being threatened, her parents, friends and univolved ones like Rang, Yuri and Shinjoo suffer. She always talks about giving up her life to Yeon but in the end she always let others fight her fight. Did you realize she couldn't do a single thing on her own without help from others? In the end, I really prefer the crazy but independent person she was in the beginning over the whiny, helpless girl she was in the end. -The love story between Yeon and Jia. Yeon has always been in love with A eum and it just seemed weird he was suddenly able to let her go after 600 years of waiting for her, just to fall in love with her reincarnation which is still technically A eum? And also Jia fell in love with Yeon at lightning speed, which I can partly understand tbh because who wouldn't, but it just seemed unnatural for a closed-off person like Jia to fall in love within like a week. - The plot holes and unnecessary additional story lines. The explanation of the korean mythology world was too weak, which made it difficult to understand some scenes. E.g. the fox bead? Nobody ever explained what the fox bead actually was? There were also a lot of plot holes, e.g. why Yeon didn't give the scale to a snake as originally planed? Why didn't Yeon try to save Rang after he died? Why did literally no one cared about the parents after they appeared out of nowhere after 20 years? How did Jia survive as a kid alone without relatives or money? And also the unecessary additional stroy lines, e.g. the "love"-stroy between Jias friends. - And The End. The ending was horrible and so unfair. I just don't understand why they had to kill Rang, the character that growed the most, was hurt the most and loved Yeon the most in the whole drama. He deserved better. Also how did Yeon get whole 30 minutes of people mourning his death but Rang got like solid 2 minutes? And apparently, Yeon is still a Gumiho. So you really want to make me believe, that Yeon, with all his powers, did not try to do everything he can to save his brother? That he would give his life to Jia but would not even talk to Granny about how to save Rang? I always wanted Jia and Yeon to have a happy ending but not in exchange for Rang's life. I just don't understand why Jia coulnd't give her life and later both of them would be reincarnated and nobody had to die.

I will end my rant now, because it's like 4am, but honestly, I'm just mad. This drama had an excellent cast and actually a really good storyline overall. But the end changed my opinion. If I ever watch this again, it will be for the story of Yeon and Rang, not for the love story. My final rate: 6/10.

There are many plot holes I agree & many things that could've been explained better but the plot is complicated in itself so it left many lose ends. The thing I adore the most is the romance of Kim bum aka Lee rang & Lee dong wook aka Lee yeon, it's seems kinda relationship that you really see in your life i.e., bothers bickering all day & their insecurities & worries related to each other. I'm sad that Lee rang died & yes it's was heartbreaking Af, but it's the right thing to do, cuz though he has a good part to him but that doesn't wash away the wrongs he has done with imoogi's side. Next Jo bo ah's acting, she's pretty decent in my opinion, not brilliant but it is good idk why people hating on her. Lee dong wook will be always flawless as usual. The CGI is awesome, made me believe what I shouldn't. The chemistry wasn't that much of great between the lead couple but it seemed kinda epic so I can buy it. But the thing is, why Lee yeon being a mountain spirit was so obsessed over his love that his decisions led to so many people deaths. so why did he came back as human,in the same time,with jiah & others even after has lead to do many casualties due to his obsession to keep jiah alive without even any harm as seemed as he had his powers back in the ending like wth?! Just to look cool? I've pointed out everything bad I've seen but believe me there are many good things & that are so many that I can't write them here. So it's better to give it a shot & decide for yourself

McKenzie Dec 04 2020 1:02 pm prepare to read a whole essay LOL (spoilers ish) overall, i say give this drama a chance. it’s fantasy so you never really expect how the story will play out and you learn about korean folklore at the same time. it’s a melodrama romance with a sprinkle of comedy for a reason. i honestly truly loved this drama a lot and it’s personally one of the best dramas i’ve seen in a while. i would usually have a hard time getting into dramas but this one instantly made me binge the first few episodes when i first started and i guess being the hopeless romantic i am i really loved lee yeon and ji ah’s relationship ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i guess people forgot about the true love aspect and how you can’t really let go of your significant other that easily, and that a fox loves only one person until they’re dead. and i feel like jo bo ah’s acting was amazing. she portrayed a strong, independent woman which we never really see a lot in kdramas, and the more the imugi gets to her thats when she begins feeling weaker, and that’s not her fault. wouldn’t you be scared if someone else was inside you coming out where you couldn’t control them? she didn’t ask to be born with that thing inside her. now let’s talk about lee rang. i agree with how i felt really upset about his death, but at the same time, i thought it was quite impactful. we saw how he really wanted to sacrifice his life for his brother which he despised so much before, and how he poured his emotions in his video. i had a feeling some sacrifice was going to occur somewhere, and he also did get reincarnated. for lee yeon, this drama made me fall for dongwook so hard. he’s such an amazing actor and portrayed his character so well. so please do give this drama a chance, and just enjoy it :)

April Dec 04 2020 6:29 am Episode 1 was amazing and got me hooked. It was downhill from there. Too many side boring and useless stories and characters nobody cares about. Every now and then it would get good again with something scary then get stupid again. It's like there were two different writers going for two different things. The main couple needed up being boring which is crazy since the first episode made them exciting. The first episode is one of the best first episodes ever. But they didn't know where to go from there.

It was so dumb as hell they should left Yeon dead in the first place, why show and make Rang suffer and literally 20 minutes later do the same thing later where they decided to let Rang die and bring back Yeon and then show him suffering. The Audacity! They did Rang dirty which made me mad at the writers of this drama. Y'all gave him something good only for it to be taken away? Seriously it's so frustrating. Meh drama after being interested up until episode 16. 5-6/10 wouldn't recommend.

Watching currently the 4th episode where Lee Yeon decided to protect Ji A at all cost albeit he didn't know if she is her true love. The plot is excellent. It's fast paced. The cast are good. Korean actors and actresses are well crafted in acting. I love the story, the script. Lee Dong Wook and Jo Bo Ah have excellent chemistry. The supporting cast are also good. The veterinarian and the Yuri story is still unfolding so I need to watch more. The drama is not boring till this episode. I hope it will get better as I watch the other episodes.

But y'all shouting Rang and Yu ri to me is eeeeeeeew I think I just love the fact that they like each other so much but aren't involved in a romantic way, everything just platonic. To me it's shin Ju and Yu ri all the way. And Geumdongg that little kid is cute. Can't wait for the final episodes

They have somewhat a story in mind but it is very poorly executed to the point that when you watch it, it doesnt make sense. The thing that frustrate me the most from the very start is kim bum's character Rang. Like why didint they(afterlife agency) kill him from the very start. The 1st ep started with lee dong wok(yeon) killing a fox disguise as a human for commiting many murder. But they didnt kill rang when he kills humans for 600years. When yeon kills 1 human they immediatly know and even have him punished in the underworld. But when rang kills so many humans they are like "wHo aRe mEsSinG wItH tHe LiSt(the list of people suppose to die)" and he is doing it for almost 600 years. Also the acting of jo bo ah is so awkward, like no offence i like her and saw many of her drama, but i get really cringey vibe from her here.

Well it is still watchable though if u dont care for many(and i mean many many) details and just want to watch lee dong wok kick ass then this is for you :)

They left Ji ah’s coworker and parents unprotected and almost got them killed. Where did the tied ropes that Imugi was gonna use to kill ji ah’s parents come from? Where are parents just sitting there and watching him hang 2 ropes in their living room? Why do they act so unbothered when they are in the middle of a pandemic? Their plan doesn’t make sense... feel like dropping it in episode 14. Writer writing same thing as other kdramas again.

Also, many many plot holes. I actually wasn't expecting much from this drama as this genre isn't my favourite (and I'm mainly watching for jo bo ah), but I was atleast expecting a better storyline than this.

The couple though is sweet, there's chemistry for sure, although I think boah is more engaged in showing emotions than LDW.

I hope the last 2 eps are satisfying.

If any one is following LDW they will know how different he has been in this one...the only thing similar to Harry Potter would be the splitting of the soul of the villan..imugi leaves a part of himself behind and is able to revive because of it...other than that I don't see anything else similar... I have not been able to predict how things turn around in this series.. And each episode has made me want more.. The wait for next episode has been painful... This is my all time favorite Kdrama..

Some scenes are just not necessary like the magistrate's fighters. And the fortune teller bartering just seemed forced and unconvicing. Have to skip around. I agree with another comment that the writer is taking stuff from Harry Potter. Even the creepy ghost girls reminds me of the The Shining. Pity, so much effort and work went into the production. I do like the Vet doctor the most of all the characters.

But episode 8 with the arrival of vegetable juice woman - it is a perfect episode in terms of acting, music, editing, everything. For me this particular episode had a very deep philosophical undertone to it. What a way to explore the fears of our subconscious! Thus, I take it back any dissatisfaction I have -if any - until episode 7 :)

I also think that Lee Dong Wook and Kim Beom had a great chemistry together and starting from episode 1 I always think about them being together again...just seeing Yeon and Rang together gives butterflies in my stomach and I can't stop watching their scene together again and again. Also, Hwang Hee and Kim Yong Ji has a great chemistry together... I can't wait for the episode 9 tonight.

I would like them to show us more about Ji ah than her past with her parents and her past life (which is a completely different person), like male characters who have other characteristics, mannerisms and background, something that makes them more vulnerable and likeable. The chemistry between the leads is also great. But for some scenes, for someone who has spent years and years waiting to find his love, Yeon's reaction is not passionate enough towards Ji ah, he acts more like a friend, family, even after knowing who she is. Ji ah's reactions made more sense, because she never saw him before as he did and never loved him before. Overall, the drama suggests that Ji ah is kind of tough and not very good at expressing feelings warmly, but for me the story should have made that clearer. For me their relationship lacked a little in this sense, the build up. But I think it was the director or writer's choice and has nothing to do with the leads chemistry, because they have it in other scenes and off screen too. Unfortunately, the two male leads, who are much more famous than the main actress, have many delusional fans. To be honest, and just because I love movies and as part of my job in the entertainment industry, I don't see what these fans are saying at all. It is like a typical kdrama, it has some clichés, but it is good to pass the time. I would recommend it to anyone who likes kdramas format, if you like fantasy series, with a touch of horror, romance and bromance, it is a good choice to watch.

The ML & FL don't seem to have an ethereal chemistry, it's okay, but the backstory of them puts quite an interest to their romance. What took me off guard was Kim beom & Lee dong wook's chemistry! I never thought that I would be so intrigued. The story itself is my first time dealing with a Gumiho concept & it pretty much overcomes my expectations for being the first timer in that concept, because usually any concept first timers get irritating to me, cuz I don't understand many things & just have to go as the story tells & not use my brain. I was a fan of LDW because of goblin & strangers from hell but now I'm of KB. The twisted revenge mindset with a kid's innocence inside is what I loved about his character. Hope to see more interesting twist & turns as the second half is starting. Tale of nine tailed team fighting!

Felt that there is no chemistry between the leads and something off / forced in the acting. In Goblin, i was looking forward for next episodes and check the ratings (its going up with each episodes). LC Oct 26 2020 7:48 pm i love LDW too.im his fan start from goblin and forward.but i stop at ep 1 coz aside from the fact that the story is tupsy turvy plus the forced and awkward acting of both leads i just cant stand the fact that an animal and a human being being made to fall inlove and act it out in the drama.i mean is that even normal?i dont think so.and this type of romance between an animal and a human being being made into a drama is really disgusting for me.it is no longer entertaining.what happened to our being morale?it disappeared in this drama.

Aside from her acting, I got confused with her work as she acts like a detective instead of a producer. She's a know-it-all. And who would jump off a building just to prove that her theories are right? Also, I've seen that before in the Fallen movie. I'm still trying to convince myself to continue watching for the love of Lee Dong Wook.

I feel like she would've at least tried to find out what it is. But I guess they need to move the story further this way... still, it doesn't make sense for me.

But we'll see how it goes from here, I guess I'm enjoying it so far, love Lee Dong Wook!

If only they chose other lead actress, this would be one great hit. With Lee Dong-Wook and Kim Beom's superb acting, not to mention how they fit with their role here. This is an amazing drama. Honestly, I would only watch this 'till the end because of LDW and KB.

ri Oct 23 2020 8:49 pm After watching the two powerful dramas this year so far, IONTBO and Flower of Evil, I also got high expectations of this series, because of the genre, lee dong wook and kim bum ofc!. the bromance between the LDW and KB is lit! Nari from TKEM is sooo gorg! there is a growing chemistry between her and the vet. the two of them are soooo cute together. However, the female lead, in my opinion, she's a bit off. and there's not much chemistry between LDW and her. and the story telling is not catchy. tho it's interesting. the pace of the story is getting boring. scenes are predictable. *sigh* i don't know if i can finish this, tho hoping it will become better for the upcoming episodes..

MonaD85 Oct 20 2020 3:20 am This is quite interesting drama. Its supernatural genre so it's awkward at times when it comes to special effects. They are in my opinion a bit too dragged. Same goes for the reactions of characters. They are a bit out of tempo. Camera tries to show US litterally everything, a scond too long. That is my personal opinion. All in all the story is entertaining, and there starts to pop up chemistry between characters so it becomes sth you starts to catch yourself waiting for more episodes.

Especially with the female lead character, on how it is placed in the story, how she reacts and acts, the execution (the character herself). It's kind of messy. But for the acting per se, I don't really find it that bad.

Good side: Kim Beom is actually extremely good at expressing the character of psychopathic fox! His eerie smile, the outfit are all spot on! Other actors are also excellent — Ki Yuri, Lee Dong Wook etc. But em the lead actress is just so so i guess hehe. Its also great that the producer includes how the characters actually lives in the disguise as human. Eg shin joo as a vet, Ki Yuri as a heir of Moze, and the other one as the Snail Bride owner.

Bad side: There are several noticeable plot holes in this drama. First, the guard guy who eats metal. After he was caught by Lee Yeon, he was pressured by Lee Yeon to tell him about Lee Rang’s whereabout. The guard guy himself told Lee Yeon that Lee Rang will never let him alive if he told Lee Yeon. But then, the guard guy was afraid and told Lee Yeon about the information. So...what happens to the guard guy? Did Lee Rang kill him? Did Lee Rang let him alive? We never know..

Next about the island case. Ji-a went to the island to investigate about the skull case and magically Lee Yeon was there (he said he needs to be there for his own reason, insisted that they go their own ways to solve their problems). But throughout their stay at the island, it was shown that Lee Yeon was just busy helping Ji-a with her case. There isn’t any scene that shows Lee Yeon is actually there because of something else. So how does Lee Yeon magically be on the same boat, to the same island, on the same day with Ji-a? A mere coincidence? I doubt so. And they told us that the island was suddenly empty, not even a single soul except Pyeong-hee. So how did Lee Yeon & Ji-a went back to the city when there was no one who could navigate the ferry? We never know too since they were suddenly shown in the city in the next scene.

In my opinion, the scripwriter should give more attention to the details and the scene flow. The things that i mention might seem as a little problem that maybe no one else notices except me, but its very crucial to make every scenes connected and have reasons for everything that happens.

Anyway I'm more curious of Ki Yuri and Shinju's story. I noticed Kim Yongji and Hwanghee on other dramas before and they were impressive. Look forward to them.

There were a lot of stupid moments 4 episodes in which one would think how this character even manages to get out of her house. Does the writer plan on having the female lead get rescued every episode? It's becoming all over the place also.

On th contrary the 2 male leads are doing a wonderful job especially Kim Bum. Never got to watch his previous works but he just gives color to this show and makes it more interesting.

L Oct 15 2020 3:04 am i started watching LDW in goblin.i think he gained international recognition for the grim reaper role.he's acting in goblin and strangers from hell was very good but in the gumiho drama idk what happened to his acting capacity.very dry and most of the times forced.even the crying scene. KB is a great treat here.he's acting for me is quite convincing.i.mean the guy is a natural scene-stealer. as for JBA well her acting never improved.she's been in this industry for a while now and most of her dramas she's always the main lead but she never got the chance to improve her acting skills.i think she's relying solely on her big eyes to do the acting for her but still not working for her. the plot is predictable.the main leads doesnt have the chemistry.their acting is overly done.too many loopholes.im really disappointed!

I've seen so many of it, I hope they would come out with a fresh concept cause it's always the non-human guy falls in love with a female human from the past and now he's waiting for her to be reincarnated. -the female lead will die again and that fox guy will be left hanging in this world

- the fox guy will finally die and the female human will grow old and die by herself. Then they would both reincarnated as both humans in the future.

Their acting skills are at a similar level, not terrible but quite awkward and unnatural. LDW is not known for his acting skills so to the delusional international fans, please wake up. He has been criticized for his acting in Korea before, and for good reason. I like him, but he's never been known as a good actor. To me, all three of them, including Kim Bum, are quite awkward and forced. They're trying a bit too hard, but I have a feeling the issue might be more on the direction they're receiving. This drama falls under the trap of taking itself too seriously when the plot is messy and the pacing is off. The forcefulness behind their acting is similar, which really makes me suspect the director is making them act in the same style, and on top of their already somewhat awkward skills, everything comes off unnatural.

Kim go eun was literally praised for her acting in TKEM more than lee min ho, Seo yeji was also praised for her acting in IOTNBO and it made her really famous. Son ye jin in cloy too. Nobody is bashing her because of the reasons you gave. A lot of fans have always complained about jo bo ah's acting even before the drama aired. I literally dropped her previous dramas because of the same thing. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion, that being said, there's always room for improvement. She's so pretty and I know she will get better. People also complained about kim bum's acting so what's your point???

So I see nothing wrong with the way he looked at her.

Also the only problem I have with this drama is the lead actress jo bo ah. Her acting is a little bland, I don't see any emotions from her. I'm only watching this for Lee dong wook

Pearl Oct 10 2020 11:57 pm First of all, I would like to appreciate the writernim, pdnim, and all the actors, from the male lead to the last gramdma in the haunted island. This is just a masterpiece. Mixed with horror, suspense, romance, and fantasy. That's not your typical kdrama combo. Secondly, I don't get why people are even comparing this to Goblin.. Both are two different amazing dramas. I think some of them really need to re-watch Goblin and figure out what they missed. I'm sure if someone else was cast as the Lee yeon, they wouldn't even find any similarities b/w Goblin and TOTNT. Then the issue of Lee yeon falling for a child. I don't think he had feelings for her as a child and it's not like he's the one that went looking for her. He constantly told her not to come to the mountain but she continued. Plus, he's over a thousand years old so a thirty year old woman is still a child to him.

The scenes do connect to each other, nothing in this drama is super cringey, the male lead and female lead have 100% chemistry, the female lead is strong (wonder if people hate her because she’s not your regular super weak FL), they are not trying to copy Goblin OMG! I dong get why there’s even a comparison, I don’t see any thing similar between both dramas except that they are both supernatural fantasy dramas.

I know people also talk about Goblin in comparison but what people fail to understand that in almost all countries the age of consent is 16. In Goblin the FL was almost (20, Korean age) which is 18 Years so she’s passed the age of consent. In this drama when they showed the past they didn’t show him kissing the 10 year old or expressing his feelings for the 10yr old. She was a full grown adult before any of that started. Also in a Korean odessy it was the same. So please don’t take it the wrong way because that’s not what they’re doing!

Sad to say that i am extremely dissapointed. Its obvious they’re trying to copy Goblin with the fantasy storyline & casting lee dong wook (yk lee dong wook was in Goblin too).

There’s zero chemistry between the Lee Dong Wook & Jo Bo Ah. Jo Bo Ah’s character is somewhat annoying & self-centered.

The scripwriter tried to make this as a fast-paced drama but unfortunately..failed teribbly. The scenes were not connected each other or maybe only have little connection.

Not to mention, there are dozens of unnecessary scenes & cringey editing. Especially when they are falling down the apartment. Gosh that's the most cringey scene I’ve ever watched in kdramas...

Overall based on the first 2 episodes, this drama totally didnt meet my expectation. But I’ll just try to watch it till the end to see if there’s any development in the characters, and the storyline.

When he met the FL as a kid, he looked for the fox bead on her but she didn't have it so he decided she wasn't the person he was looking for, he then saved her life, erased her memory (albeit unsuccessfully) and left. Right now, as an adult, we still don't know if she is really the lost love since she has no fox bead, and we also don't know what powers she has since he can't seem to erase her memory.

I mean would you all be comfortable if your child in 4th grade fell in love with her teacher throughout her life? I mean what did they talk about at the age of 10-12-16- 19. I really want to enjoy this because they are my fav actors but I worry that this is love we should accept.

Watching this to solve the mystery but am not invested in the lead characters’ supposed “epic romance”. Works well if you like fantasy without romance though.

I had been watching around 30 doramas and 3 of them has at Lee Dong Wook as part of the cast, the las one was a dorama of the last year and I really admire his work. I have notice that he has an enourmus capacity as an actor to get completely in each character wich has hooked me completely making me laugh, cry and aplause each interpretation. I think that more than age, that even is a plus for the experience that he has like an actor, is the hability, capacity akd quality that he has to play each role because i can notice that he is a focus men that love his job and we must to be grateful to enjoy each work. I suggest you watch her movie "innocent thing", and her dramas "goodbye to goodbye" and "missing noir M". surplus princess and shut up flower boy band arent her only projects.

To be honest, I couldn't think of anyone who'd fit this role more than him...Jo Bo Ah....hmm I honestly wish they had chosen a more mature actress with more...elegant vibes...she's a bit too cheerful in her roles, but maybe the role she'll play is supposed to be that way...
