Seoul is devastated by a powerful earthquake. Hwanggoong Apartment is the only place still standing after the earthquake. Survivors make their way to Hwanggoong Apartment.

Young-Tak (Lee Byung-Hun) temporarily leads the residents of Hwanggoong apartment. As the crisis unfolds, Young-Tak tries to protect the residents from outsiders. Min-Sung (Park Seo-Jun) was a public officer. He is picked by Young-Tak and becomes his helper. Myeong-Hwa (Park Bo-Young) is Min-Sung’s wife and a nurse. She takes care of the injured.

ellie Feb 09 2025 4:17 am Only highly empathetic people will understand Myung-hwa. Even in such a disaster, being good to other people isn't equal to not wanting to survive, as shown in the final scene where there's a friendly community of people who chose to take people in instead of forsake them or steal from them. Ultimately, what led to Hwang-gung's downfall is their evil deeds. If they utilized the strength of the outsiders while catering to them, they could have gathered more food with the combined manpower. Instead, they encouraged division and discrimination — and look where that led them.

I'm sure Minsung knew it as well, but was terrified when he saw how much power Youngtak held over the other residents. He realized in the end how he basically dedicated his faith and spent all his conscience into the wrong person — one who murders as long as he keeps his position in Hwang-gung. Because, let's face it, killing the real Young-tak is bad, but killing Hye-won was ultimately evil.

Anyway, this movie gave me a nightmare. It was a good watch, even if it's formulaic. You go, Myunghwa!

Su San Jan 07 2024 3:43 pm Dystopian survival tale in a post-disaster world about the morality being human and living in a community. Special effects were all very well done and acting is great. The moral of the story is nothing new, but is thought-provoking;

The acting was really amazing I think if the plot story is different this movie could have been more popular than this. Park seo joon, Lee byun hoon and Park bo young has done their best with their acting.

CritiQueen Oct 19 2023 10:25 am Not worth the watch. Even the highly paid and notable actors can't save this movie. Bo young's character was the worst part here. I came to an age where I realized being selfish is not bad at all times. Sometimes we have to be selfish so we may not completely lose ourselves. Helping others is good, but not to the point where we become incapacitated.

Still at the 1st 20mins of the film, but I'm not sure if I want to continue... I'm a little annoyed at Bo Young's character and I pity Seo Joon's character. PSJ is doing his best to provide for his wife but PBY is acting too good on such a disaster. I understand she can't help but feel pity and wanted to help them, but doesn't she need to her and her husband's needs first?! I mean, her character is a little too goody goody for a such a situation... Well, could be that I am just quite selfish as well for me to think this lol! I'm just thinking that this is a huge disaster with nothing much to look forward to than to make sure you live the next day, and I felt like she's in a bubble where she doesn't understand that in this situation, it's okay to be a little selfish so you and your husband can survive the next day... Anyway I was only at 20mins mark, so maybe I'm thinking too far ahead...

bieber Oct 07 2023 9:38 am -first of all, all the characters in this movie are villains, selfish. -PD attracted many viewers by hiring 5 star actors/actresses. While this movie is NOT THAT GOOD.

The story is not interesting at all! everyone in this story is selfish, willing to kill to steal food. They think they just want to continue living, why not continue living together with the other residents?? Terrible plot.

Haru Sep 29 2023 10:20 am Already watched it. Quite good movie, but I cannot help to hate Myeong Hwa character here. She is the most annoying character in this movie, the way she looked at other as she is the only person who is right and everyone else is wrong. Oh God I hate her. Park Bo Young (my favorite actress) cannot even make me like (or at least understand) Myeong Hwa.

I mean, this is the time after disaster happen. Human lost hope. It's different from start from the beginning, because everything is destroyed. It's hard to find a single living animal to eat it. And the can only depend on stock food. It's like they only waiting their own death because once the food used up the will starve to death. Even worse they have to fight other so they can eat.

But this naive girl doesn't like the idea of getting others food everytime her husband going away to find food. Whereas all she did is just stay at apartment without knowing what her husband have to deal with outside. Once again. This is the time after disaster (very big disaster happen), it's eather you eat other food or they will eat yours, eather you attack other or they will attack you. You cannot help everyone and think you can be a saviour but do nothing and goes away when the attack coming to the apartment.

Oh God. She is naive, hypocrite, a coward, and I hate her. Done.

Park Bo young is my favorite Korean actress and is very sad I'm not able to watch all her movies and series. I will be visiting South Korea as soon as possible and I hope I find a place where I can sit and watch everything that I have missed. She is a fantastic actress , true to her characters. I thought: Oh, Lee Jae Wook and Park Bo Young together would be a strange combination. What about Park Seo Joon and Park Bo Young together? A strange combination too, but I would love to see them. Then I wondered if perhaps they've been together before or something; I googled it and came across this.

I'm super excited, because both of them (Park Seo Joon and Park Bo Young) are my favorite actors, and because they will act together as a couple.
