Ji Sun-Woo (Kim Hee-Ae) is a family medicine doctor. She is married to Lee Tae-Oh (Park Hae-Joon) and they have a son. She seems to have everything, including a successful career and a happy family, but she is betrayed by her husband and others.

Meanwhile Lee Tae-Oh dreams of becoming a famous movie director. He runs an entertainment business with the support of his wife Ji Sun-Woo. Even though he loves his wife, Lee Tae-Oh falls into a dangerous relationship.

Ana Apr 24 2026 4:26 pm Is the moral for this thing that demons will always win?Because so far it seems that you can lie, cheat, steal, even kill and get away with it. Is this anti-divorce propaganda? Stay no matter what? Stay no matter how poorly the guy treats you because the entire world will blame you even if her galavants around with his mistress and bastard? Stay alone forever because being a mother means you get to live like a pseudo mistress while the cnt gets wife #2? This show started off so well and the message since episode 6 has been: maybe divorcing the clearing hisband wasn't the answer, after all, your life is crap now—even though it's crap because he's actively destroying it behind the scenes.

Vy Mar 24 2025 8:33 am Such a pitiful main character, living among a bunch of ungrateful people. That's pretty much the main story of this entire series. The story should've just ended in the 6th episode, without ever needing a twist to extend it into 16 episodes.

All the blame was out on the lead actress. It seems the mistress have all the power. Worst story line, don't waste your time.

The level of betrayal and backstabbing is so heightened, then don't let me start with the ML, never seen someone so audacious and who lacked remorse, he infuriates me so much. One of the worst Korean dramas ever Unbelievable plot turns just to keep the drama going Such that in the end, the most terrible character is the lead, Dr Ji Sun Woo

Of course flashes of brilliance but nothing can salvage the dishonest writing, the lack of integrity towards the characters

Post episode 11 though, the portrayal of the first wife started turning obsessive and desparate. The husband as well had nothing to redeem himself with. Maybe like in real life, the series dragged on a bit painfully.

The story shows the complexity of the relationships. The man's character has been portrayed as really weird. At first, I was a bit angry with Soon Woo's character, but then I felt really sad about her. Her character has been brought out very strongly. Apart from the story, the acting was really impressive. I will recommend this drama to all kdrama lovers.

J Oct 05 2023 11:48 pm First 2 episodes are boring, 3rd elisode is also boring but then things start to heat up at end of episode 3 and from there evn though you know what will be the plot but still you will get engaged with the drama due to intense direction and dialogues. Till ep 14 it will be a good show but last 2 episodes are very purposeless and dragging. Also a remake doesnt need adding all painfuk stuff from orgiinal so they could have without making son becoming runaway.

Tina Jul 06 2023 9:13 pm Honestly, it's not that good. 5/10 Episode 1 will give the impression that something different and fundamental will happen,but afterwards, all you see is the classic weak female character that's obsessing over a man who doesn't really love her, but she refuses to see it. The series is over rated. I've seem series with an age restriction of 16 with far better sex scenes then this. There is hardly anything here that truly deserves a +18 rating. Then again, maybe in Korea, this is like Game of Thrones to them in terms of explicit content. The storyline sucked, the acting was good, but it couldn't makeup for the storyline. At the end, you don't really get anything out of watching this (at least for me). I really don't get the lesson that the audience was meant to learn from watching this.

While the first episode brilliantly set up the story and introduced compelling characters, the subsequent episodes veered off course and fell short of expectations. The drama started to show its cracks as early as the first third. It was no longer as engaging as its start. It continued heading in a downward spiral shortly after midway point where it started to get stupid and pointless. Stupid isn't good! At that point, any interesting elements it had were gone and it deviated from its original promise. For a drama themed around adults relationships you would expect a better and more profound dialogue but, unfortunately, it always favored the more melodramatic and senseless route. Even then, it wasn't spicy enough to keep me stimulated. One more thing, the last episode was bad. I'm not sure why they had to slap the +18 rating on it when the explicit scenes were tame and scarce anyway. Kim Hee Ae is an underrated actress and I'm glad she's getting more recognition but I've see better from her than this one. Overall, it's an okay drama that ended up being disappointing.

I know it's Joon Young decision but I am just disappointed, especially to Sun Woo (the truck accident). Well, superb acting! 1st time to watch both male and female leads to act.

Loll Mar 09 2022 10:16 pm I was about t drop at ep 3 as found all first 3 episodes boring but just as about in last 20 mins of e3 i was going to shut it down and forget it forever something got my attention and then gosh it went alll crazyyyyyy. Tho i believe it should have ended at e14 ,last 2 episodes were stretching,wasting time and boring but apart from that drama was very enjoyable from ep 3 to 14, it was mostly good direction and editing.

Not sure about Ji Sun-Woo telling the mistress she had sex with Tae-Oh... not exactly the comeuppance she imagined it to be. Not exactly impressed by how she lacks any self respect and takes him back, hurting her son in the process to boot (but I liked the son, unfortunate that he comes back in the end). Would dispute the "husband loved his wife" bit, calling bs on that. Does not meet the bar of basic respect and honestry -he lied to her, it's a toxic, dysfunctional relationship, and instead of letting her go because he realized she deserves to be with someone better, he becomes obsessive and petulant, thus the scene with the kid and his attempt at suicide-. Female lead is supposed to be a mature, strong woman, instead she reacts like a teenager at her first relationship (delusional bs about marriage leading to hating your partner... no, your husband is just an a**, you deserve better, this particular relationship was toxic, but this does not mean that all relationship are -looks like cynism, but it is not seeing reality like it is, it is lying to yourself into believing that nothing better is possible, in order to cowardly avoid to find the courage to get over him and find someone better, someone that deserves her-), does not show any self respect and jeopardizes her son's happyness. Son was a nice break from cliche (and a more realistic perspective, if I was the child I would *hate* for the parents to be together, it would be even worse if they claimed to do this for him).

bs ending, very much prefer something like "crazy rich asian" movie. Obnoxious for him to grab the child and throw a tantrum, but her not being emotionally mature enough to get over him is even less impressive... was hoping for a strong female character. Like that their kid realized that their relationship was toxinc and dysfunctional, and that they should have split up (this is a nice change from the "we must stay married for the kid" bs, which is humiliating and unfair toward the children, putting on them the burden of forcing their parents to compromise their standards and stay in a union instead of living their own life, while providing an excuse for the parents not to take hard decisions and realize that they deserve better and are in charge of their own happyness).

Without Dr Sul and other toxic friends/neighbours, and Da kyung's parents, Da kyung would learnt her lesson. i think Sun Woo could heal better. her environment turns her like that. She was mentally disturbed. and that leads her son to be that way. I think Sun Woo reactions is so relatable. No matter how strong she portrays herself, she could break. She is so miserable..

Joon Young went through too much as a young child and the situation was just so unfair. it sucks that it took him running away for those two to realize that they have hurt him too much. I low-key wonder though if him coming back in the end was real because part of me does not think so. I feel like him barely being shown and all blurry was because it was just the mom's imaginatiom/wishful thinking.

Lyra Apr 27 2021 10:36 pm I was hesitant to watch this drama at first because of the genre. I decided to give it a try and wow this show has exceeded my expectations. Every episode just gets better and better. The acting was on another level and as a viewer I could feel the frustrations and emotions of the characters. Kim Hee Ae was amazing as Sun Woo and I enjoyed her revenge tactics. However Sun Woo was still not over Tae Oh and her obsession grew. She chose to stay at Gosan using Joon Young as an excuse. Their toxic relationship affected everyone around them. Lee Tae Oh was a pathetic cheater and I found his character funny at times. He deserved all the suffering at the ending because of his obsession. He just wants to manipulate a women and get financial support. Park Hae Joon portrayed his character so well, I hated him so much. Da Kyung just wanted to win and prove to everyone that she didn’t make the wrong decision. She was delusional to think that Tae Oh would stay true to their family. In my opinion DaKyung’s parents gave her everything from young and that’s why she wanted to own Tae Oh. Even though I hated Da Kyung at the beginning, I started to pity her because she really loved Tae Oh. But it doesn’t change the fact that she broke up a family and was so shameless in the beginning. Han So Hee is so talented I hope to see her in lead roles soon. At first I found Joon Young annoying but later episodes showed how much he suffered because of his parents. I can understand why he wanted to run away to escape from his parents. Don’t understand why Ye Rim wanted to get back with Je Hyuk as cheaters will never change. I’m glad she made the right decision at the end. Je Hyuk still had the face to start a new family and even have kids? When he refused to have any with Ye Rim. Dr Sul was the worst and I hated her the most in this drama. Poor Dr Kim was beside Sun Woo all this time supporting her but Sun Woo’s heart had no room for him. Just wondering if Min Hyun Seo know that Park In Gyu committed suicide...seems to me like she still loved him Overall I liked this drama and enjoyed watching it. It deserved the daesangs and high ratings. Well done!!

Nadia Feb 27 2021 12:41 pm I watched Doctor Foster, after seeing TWOTM and I somewhat prefer the Korean version, simply because Gemma is a psycho and a narcissist. In this one, Sun-Woo is just a narcissist and considering how vile her husband was, I had no problem with her revenge tactics. They were entertaining The true villains of this drama for me, are So Hee's parents.

I kinda wished the effect of the adult's dysfunction on the teenager would have been more pronounced in the drama because it was the biggest take away for me. Yes it's entertaining watching Sun-Woo and Tae-Oh trying to destroy each other, but how it all affected Joon-Young should have been the center of this drama. t didn't feel that way.

Ah well. Pretty good adaptation of the original. I enjoyed watching this far more than I did the original. Sun Woo didn't irritate me as much as Gemma Foster did.

well Feb 20 2021 5:59 am honest personal review. twotm is overrated. i have watched the bbc version before the korean one. i enjoyed doctor foster (watched season 1 and 2). since i knew what was going to happen in the korean version, it didnt have the same hype for me as it would others. i guess thats the reason why i dont enjoy twotm as much. don't get me wrong, i think kim hee ae is a talented actress but she isnt the greatest or better. sometimes it was hard to tell what she was feeling with her dull expressions. i have not yet finish the last 2 eps till this day.

may Aug 30 2020 10:55 am It never surprises me, viewers get hooked on plots like these☺️ Mistress meets wife vice versa wd an exchange of fiery dialogues. The story that people can relate much, getz them all excited who wins in the end.

TWOTM 's first 5 episodes got me glued, but later on it felt like an emotional roller coaster.  I can say the mom and the son were quite confused.  The son was a brat the way he talks to his mother.  It seems most of the leads  had PTSD.

I got confused too in the end. ?. Nwys, it was written so it shall be done.

a male viewer Aug 09 2020 12:32 am At the end of the first episode i was excited. I was expecting the woman to go on a cold, slow, calculated revenge spree on all the other characters that were complicit in the affair.

But it was none of that. It turned out much pettier than that. Just a normal affair ituation that happens every day. So when the plotline itself is mundane, we need other things to keep us entertained.

Usually this is solved with likable characters or good humor. World of the Married has neither. It plods along spending at least 15 minutes per episodes showing a closeup of the doctor "feeling things". There's more to acting than making horrified faces.

So really, the show is just not entertaining at all. I am a little curious to how it would develop but i am not willing to spend 15 hours of my life to do so.

Poppie Jul 20 2020 8:49 am The best drama of my 28 old year life. I watched it from A to Z without skipping scenes (I always skip scenes). Thanks to it, I discovered Kim Hee Ae, a brilliant actress who deserves all the praise and love.

This drama is not a makjang. I am not an ahjumma and I understand its success. It’s really addictive for young and older people. I decided to watch it because of quarantine and the other great success of 2020 was over one month ago. If there were no quarantine, I would have perhaps miss the chance to watch it because JTBC did not promotions. After episode 1, I was hooked.

Everything was perfect : acting, directing, writing, instrumental OST. It would be though to break its highest peak and average ratings. The other dramas I am watching seem so-so now. Please JTBC, gives us another great miniseries with KHA.

jktm Jul 15 2020 4:06 pm I wondered why there was such a great response regarding this drama. Why was everyone talking about it. I wasn't sure what to expect at all. Is it really that good? So I gave it a try and.. this drama blew my mind. It's so perfectly executed, from the actors to the script and everything in between. I was hooked from the very first episode. All the plot twists were absolutely insane. I thought a drama of the Sky Castle caliber would not appear anytime soon but this one was so amazing from start to finish it left me speechless. I wish there were more dramas like this. Dramas that make me watch and anticipate every scene, every episode. Dramas that show some rawness, a slice of bitter reality with no sugar-coating. So brilliant. A big thanks to everyone who participated in making this masterpiece.

I love all the characters they all made the story very addictive. All of them are so versatile. I'm hoping for season 2. I watched the 2 special episodes of "The World of the Married" and I learned so much on it. It tells about the psychology behind those important and controversial scenes and I also know more about them in real life. I hope that you watched those 2 special episodes because you will be satisfied on the flow of the story and you will know that there are some hint portrayed in the beginning of each episodes.

lol no Jun 08 2020 7:06 am I loved this Kdrama but I have to say that absolutely all the characters were annoying. The son was especially annoying. I hated how at the beginning the husband and the son were blaming her for the divorce when the husband was the one who cheated. The second leads had great stories as well, but they were also annoying. I shouted at the screen for about half of the time but if that was the aim, then they did an excellent job. The ending was a bit underwhelming, I was expecting something more than that. But I feel like I kinda understand why the son ran away, being scared that his parents would get back together although he was the one against the divorce at the beginning of the show. The ammount of sexism, greediness, pettiness and double standarts was just something else. If you like some good old family drama x 10, then this kdrama is definetely for you.

The husband also bad people and also almost have same traits like liar, greedy, selfish,hypocrite and many more. Also its never kids fault if they make problems its their parents fault but protect the kids like crazy also not the right thing they need to know what is right and wrong. Good parents tell their kids the right thing not make right wrong thing. And is this drama want to show that kids from broken family gonna lead to another broken family. i mean the husband parents divorce and the wife parents died in accident where the suspect is her mother that drive the car.

For a woman who gives up her youth, beauty and career, the word "affair" puts an end to her life. That one relation means everything and much more to her.

This drama had my chest hurting in every episode, harsh reality.

jls02 Jun 03 2020 10:02 am I love the plot! The story is great. It kept me rooting for certain characters, it made me feel the frustration. But what can I do, I'm the type of viewer who decides whether the drama is good or bad based on the ending. Ending was crap. Spoiler alert, it's just impossible to lose a teenager in your neighborhood that easily. It was such a good drama that I thought the ending would be superb. But it was just simply not. It was very disappointing for me. Still, I enjoyed the drama from episodes 1 to 15. Lol episode 16 ruined it for me. Thank you to the whole cast for keeping us on our toes!

Amazing Drama*

Sooooooo..... This drama was awesome! I liked every second of it....... that is until episode 14. Honestly, I loved it so much, such a beautifully written script. So raw, real and honest. I loved it. I was on the edge the whole Sun Woos character, how bold she became. How at some point she did not give a f**k about anything. I love how the relationships were portrayed, the secondary characters were also great. The ending however seemed a little off. I don't know. I think I get what they wanted to portray but they did not convey the message well enough. Those two episodes were a little disappointing. BUT I would still recommend this drama 100%. Because the ending wasn't bad, it just wasn't as satisfying as I wanted it would be (even tho I don't know what I was hoping for lol). The thing is, the last 2 episodes didn't ruin this drama. Still love it. !!!

But i come to hate Sun Woo too, no wonder Joon Young ran away. He couldnt handle the thought of going back to the toxic family that he was in if his parents reunite.

In conclusion: Tae Oh destroyed his own family, and Sun Woo destroyed her son’s mental health.

I thought she would be better than that at the end. The ending disappoints me so much. Sun Woo and Joon Young finally had their happy ending, but because of her selfishness, she too, destroyed her own happiness that she have been dreaming.

The ending sucks.

I was annoyed at Sul Myung Sook but I know she's the most realistic character since there are a lot of people I know who are like her.

I also find Joon Young annoying because his character is too immature for his age. His friend No Eul is more realistic. But I guess he had to be that way for the sake of the story.

It showed us the different degrees of attachment between a newly formed couple versus a couple that has lived happily for years. It also showed how different couples deal with their problems differently. It showed us that a marriage is not easily broken, and even though a relationship is broken in name, it is by no means a fact that all the ties are gone. It also showed the level of scarring left on all main characters after the trust was broken. I know many people wanted Dr Kim to swoop in at the end and start again with Sun Woo but the reality was Sun Woo had barely crawled out of her last relationship and it cost her everything. Learning to trust and going back to a place where she felt confident enough to start a new relationship was a journey she was just beginning at the end of the drama. Even Da Kyung was wary of new relationships at the end, and she had only been in her troublesome relationship for a few years.

I think his wife still loves him! Tae oh shldn't hv cheated on SW and in the end his life was ruined! overall this drama is highly recommended, no surprise its rating was pretty good! Great acting from the leads!

SPOILER: that final epi was very touching & cldn't believe i was feeling sorry for tae oh when they were eating where he bursts into tears, i just got carried away & that scene where the truck came to halt i really thought he got killed! in spite of what he's done to his family his wife still cared for him! Soo won was a remarkable woman!

Chileeeeee May 20 2020 8:27 pm Seon woo was that B! She was bold, caring, intelligent, a true fighter. I don’t think she used her son as an excuse. Most of the time she was only trying to protect him. She is a good mother. Her only flaw was that she babied her son too much and kept him in the dark. She should have tried to make him understand her. I get that she didn’t want her son to hate his dad but there was a lot of details that she should have communicated to him. Like the night she got assaulted in her own home or why she called the cop that night he didn’t contact her. Those were vital infos that he deserved to know. Him not understanding made her it very difficult for her. If he would had known certain things or everything then he wouldn’t had side with his dad.

The most problematic in this kdrama was Tae oh. Man, he’s is a sociopath. Like how tf u get all ur friends to help u cheat on ur wife?!! That’s not normal. He manage to ruin 3 marriages and not once take responsibility for his actions. Instead he manipulated everyone for his own personal gain. All the problems were created by him. he was a compulsive liar and was totally obsessed with his idea of money and family (all things he couldn’t get when he was young) but was never fully ready to commit to it. He was the one who used his son as an excuse. Seonwoo was a victim to him like Hyeon seo was to her bf and he always tried to provoke her by using their son as leverage for her not to move on. Even that night he slept with seonwoo he initiated it and she tried to fight back. *Notice it never happened again* He tries to make people feel sorry for him and he did that to his own son! TWICE!!! Once when he threatened his son that he might take his life if he doesn’t go with him and he DARE try to commit suicide in front of him when he was rejected once again. That man has serious problem. SeonWoo should have gotten another restraining order at the end.

I wasn’t fully satisfied with the ending. The only person who really got a resolution was Da kyoung. She got out while she still can. I still don’t like her and I don’t feel sorry for her but she became less unlikable over time.

The little boy in my opinion was used as a scapegoat.Da kyoung in order to save her marriage, the dad in order to fuel his obsessions. I do feel bad for Joon Yeong but there was many times where I felt like he literally needed a slap in the face (and not from his dad) but then again, it was never his fault.

And afterwards when we were discussing the drama the differences in opinion we had really blew my mind. Let me first word out what she said - in her opinion there were 3 examples used in the plot; the story of Sun Woo, the ko ye rim family and seo yi sooks briefly mentioned family where her husbanda aka chairman choi slept with other women resulting in her acquiring a std. My mum said the 3 women handled the situation in 3 different ways - sun woo went for a divorce straight away, ko ye rim attempted to piece her marriage back together where as chairman choi's wife adamantly stood firm within the bounds of her marriage regardless of her husbands many affairs. And in my mums opinion Sun Woo should not have blown up her husbands extra marital relationship into such a big affair and she should've forgiven him him slowly over time for the sake of her son. My mum was so confused as to why Sun Woo wouldn't take him back towards the end of the show when all was done and dusted. She thought the son was being immature and that the parents shouldn't really let him decide what he wanted.

Which brings me to my opinion of the entire drama- i thought both Sun Woo and Tae- ho failed their son as parents. They never prioritized their son's feelings over theirs and exposed him to so much toxicity. Through out the latter part of the drama all I wanted to do was give Joon - Young a big hug and just steal him away to some happier/safer place. Growing up my parents fought all the time and I remember cuddling with my baby sister in the dark terrified and wishing all along that my parents would just get divorced and put an end to this misery. I wanted to fall asleep early before the fighting started but always ended being woken up anyway cs they were always so loud. I'm in my 20's now, but seeing joon-young gave me flashbacks of my childhood. The craze involved in this family was of much bigger proportions than my own childhood and I couldn't bear having to watch a child grow up amongst all that chaos. The effects of what i went through as a child have plagued me to this date where I'm terrified o f dating let alone marriage and I'm still not sure if I ever will want to be married. Over the years I've realized how easily our childhood experiences mold us into who we become and if this drama was real, Joon - Young would have life long repercussions based on his childhood experiences. This drama probably taught a lot of people a lot of different things, but to me what it illustrated the most was the duty parents have towards bringing up their children to be good humans and to make sure that they never feel like they have no place in this world. Children are truly like flowers as cliche as it sounds, they blossom when treated right and they wither up when neglected, and they are so very helpless and dependent on adults. While discussing this drama I mentioned to my mum a particularly nasty fight she had with my dad, including details I remember vividly. She had no recollection of it - that's how insignificant it was to her, but to the 10 year old me it was a memory that would last a lifetime. I really hated all the adults in this drama. They're supposed to be adults but were very unaware of how mentally and emotionally inept they are. They kept using fake friendships and connections for selfish gain. Too bad that it happens in real life.

I really felt bad for Joon Young in this entire series. That's why relief weirdly crept in me when he finally ran away. Time to truly heal, boy. You deserve it. You've been treated as everyone's emotional punching bag without your consent. I knew it took a great deal of courage and pain to do that, that's why I'll always be in awe.

I hope he really came back for good, already healed and in a much better mindset. It's the ending he deserves.

Minus1 May 18 2020 7:19 am Overall 10/10! Easily on anyone top 3 drama ever. But a few things. 1. I think the background sounds is a bit too much. Sometimes it overwhelming. The scene is already dramatically enough by itself. 2. I know Park In-Kyu committed suicide, but why dont they make it clear? Its kinda unfinished about the story. we all know both Sun Woo and Tea-Oh are not the killer for sure. So for a few episodes, I still think maybe it’s the Doctor. Cause no one else to blame. Also because when the Dr talked to the Dad, he said he doesnt love Sun Woo and was using her. Wasnt sure if he was a good character or not. Only when he saved Sun Woo in the beach, then I know ok he actually love her and there is no twist on this. Lol. (Unless there is season 2 and another plot twist!? Lol) 3. I think Sun Woo acting was really good, but sometimes I still cant read the emotion. Shocked, surprised, overwhelmed in every level was pretty the same expression.

And the fact is, we tend to fall for bad guys. So its not surprising that the nice and caring Doctor was not her choice. This drama teach me so much about life and married. Make me think of what did I do wrong and how could I fix it? Either you working too much or stay at home wives, your husband can still cheat on you. I guess just try not to love so much and be too dependent. Marriage is not all about love. At the end, its about money, status, people around you and so much more.

Whover has been in married before will understand why its not as easy as getting a divorce, life go on and ‘wishing’ your ex to have a happy life. NO WAY. Love hurts!! and if It hurts more, means you love more. Sun Woo loves Tea Oh so so much. Even through all of this, i can see that Deep down inside, she just wish he will get down on his knee and sincerely sorry for all his mistakes. Theres no way back for the two of them, but will be hard for her to move on at this stage as well.

Anyway. Their acting was too good. Especially Tea Oh! Gosh i hate him but sometimes feel bad for him as well. Well done.

cyou May 18 2020 6:12 am Wow. This drama is a roller coaster of emotions.I enjoyed every minute, every scene was important for building the believable plot and the sequence of events. I was angry, tearful, understanding (or at least trying to understand), sorry, and mostly amazed. Great cast, excellent pilot full of twists, and especially not far from reality. Really a "mirror" for married couples. Not everything is pink and perfect, and every step we take must think well if we are not selfish or hurting those around us. Joon-Young is the proof that ugly divorce can hurt such a young soul, and even traumatize it later, raising the question of whether it's worth it and at what cost (of course I'm not a judge, that separation could have gone otherwise, in a better way). The final episode was excellent and the ending was very realistic. A shaky drama that teaches you alot, and will stay with me for a long time.

The female doctor , she did abuse her privilege, using vulnerable patient , the young girl , by asking her doing dirty job . By medical standard , the doctor would be loosen her license. She plotted to get all money and did not permit her son to see his father causing all problems later on .

Husband , is lucky guy , able to marry the young rich wife , why did he not go on to his new life ?

The young , second wife , she made mistake by loving married man , but later on she was more matured, as soon as she found out her husband being unfaithful to her , she divorced him and had nothing to do with him , goes on living , not rushing into new relationships. For me she is smartest one in 3 while dealing with their problems .

Secondly, this is more realistic ,the son has had too much and couldnt take the fact of having his parents reunite. He knows how toxic his dad is. And seeing that there might be a chance for them to reconcile he must have been thinking already of all the stress and pain they've dealt with before and can't imagine going through it again. At least, in Korean version there was a strain of hope for the viewers on how they would interpret the last scene. Whether it was what Dr. Ji was hoping for. For her son to come back or he did really come.back either way there is HOPE unlike the original in which the son was missing and that is more heartbreaking.

the detaill about a man who fell from rooftop. It is clearly suicide. DK father who kept the cctv video already known that Tae Oh is not a murder. Tae Oh came to the station and open the emergency exit door to meet that guy after 1-2 minutes before the guy fell from rooftop..so impossible for him kill thw giy to the roof top with that short time.

And about her son, at the ending scenes he is comeback to home. He open the door with password. That her son.

The kid suddenly running away like ???? Only thing I liked was Ye Rim finally standing up for her happiness and leaving her husband, it was a beautiful scene to watch. Tae Oh deserved what is happening, but I wouldn’t wish upon death. And I hope Dakyung goes for men who aren’t taken sis. Overall great drama, but the ending could have been a little better :)

Everything about the ending makes sense to me and rings true to the characters emotions and feelings, what a beautiful ending.

It is not a happy ending by any means but I prefer this to the overly happy cringy ending. Rather than pleasing the audience, show them how real life consequences unravel.

This drama just present us what reality would probably offer us if you cheated, overly selfish, and repeatedly choose wrong choices. No matter what, child is the victim of adult’s stupid mistakes.

The best drama so far I have ever watch. It will change kdrama competitions. And waiting for baeksang award for Dr. Ji!!

Lenny May 16 2020 8:20 pm Excellent drama period. I don't say that enough and there's reasons why the ratings for this series has always been high - now being the most watched cable drama. I've seen both seasons of Doctor Foster the original series and I can say TWOTM as a remake did the original justice and even slightly better. With this drama I can say you won't get bored at all. Each episode is a roller coaster so if you are not into that this drama might not be for you. It's literally an emotional warfare where the main leads are at constant battle with one another. Pretty much a game of chess. It's easy for you to chose "sides" but once you re-watch some scenes or analyze it again, or even complete the series you see and realize there really isn't a "winner" and everything isn't what you thought it would be.

Though this isn't an original work it has to be in one of my top 5 K-Dramas of all time. All the actors did amazing. You'll go through a cycle of loving, supporting, and hating each and every character (seriously). Nothing in the story dragged on and even the side-sub characters played a serious role in the main plot and storyline. Interesting how they were not cast for comedic or useless purposes. Amazing drama, I definitely recommend. 10/10

Quite a lull over the 1 year waiting period for Sun Woo. That's just the script's issue, but the cast are fabulous. Great, great job! I have already re-watched ep. 1 to 13.

Working for the best family relationship considers everyday mistakes to achieve intact goals and building for the best family we have. The past gives the best basis and lessons for the future. So i guess it was better that there is another series for reconciliation. But anyway we have different cultures to consider. Thank you for the series and more to come..

With that being said, i’m still mad with Taeoh I just can’t with him... couldn’t ask for better ending so I guess i just have to accept this one. Anyways great job to all the cast, hella a ride, extremely crazy but I love it. I love how they still kept the intensity till the end. Thank you director and writer for producing this wonderful drama.

Da Kyung left him and he's still stalking sun woo and never stalked da kyung. Her son never hated her he blamed himself for his mom getting a divorce and resented her. He thinks he is the one who caused them to break up. Sun woo can't leave, her ex- husband would just find where she at if she do leave. Her ex-husband still has to see Joon because he didn't lose his parental rights yet. It's more like she took back everything she gave to her ex husband. If you watched the first episode without her Tae was nothing. When he came back to gosan everything was provided by his daddy in law and he was still nothing. I'm sorry but her ex husband is pathetic. He depended on both his wives for financial security. Tae didn't even have his own car, house, business or money and his dad in law gave him all that so pathetic. I hope sun woo doesn't take him back. Da kyung I still hate her but I applaud her for walking from Tae.

The annoying character is Dr Ji. Why can't she accept it's over? She has left, but has to come back and ruin her ex-husband's life. She wants to leave him with nothing. She basically wants revenge and keeps creating drama. That is why their son hates her and their life is complicated.

I get that he was hurt and didn't want to loose his family but he was too cruel to the mom who was heart broken as well. He never even blamed his father for once, all he did was attack his mother like she was at fault whrn she was also a victim. I can't even measure my hatred for that Da-kyung snitch... Pretending to be nice while stealing someone's husband and still wants to take her child away. Author please make this drama a happy ending for sun woo, she doesn't deserve all this shit happening to her. As for her husband, I don't even know we're to classify that one that doesn't know how to be a man all he does is rely on women. He's nothing but a cheat that can't even admit his wrong doings and apologize. I don't want him back with sun woo cus he will surely cheat again, he doesn't deserve her one bit. He is hurted, in pain, in anger when his parents got divorced and he can’t help but be aggresive to sunwoo. He didnt hate her though, it’s just he is really vulnerable to get his act right. Yeah, he was over the top especially when he talked to his mom but his point of view also matters. He is still young and confused and dakyung shouldn’t force him to accept his new family this soon

The ending looks like the husband will be all alone by himself in gosan or ostracized as well. He destroyed both his families so his fate will be to be by himself and reflect on his actions. However, as the drama goes on, I'm starting to think that Joon Young's actions are normal *Especially under his circumstances right now*

Remember that ever since Joon Young in elementary school (check early episodes), he had to witness his parents' 'disgusting' sides. 1) he saw his dad cheating, 2) he saw his mom, which at that time kind of unstable, persistently persuade him to live with her after the divorce. At that time I believe that her mom was persuading him by using wrong methods. She threw his handphone, drove recklessly, etc. In short, she scared the hell outta him, 3) he saw his dad beat her mom 'till bleed, 4) and the list goes on. Now after witnessing those kind of things, how can you expect him to act 'normal'? A middle school student is not an adult. They are still growing and developing, both emotionally and physically. Even for an adult, it is hard to see parent going through divorce. Just imagine how hard it be for Joon Young then?

The scene he was sitting in the car while the parents was talking, seems like he thinks the only way he can see them together and for them to pay attention to him is when he’s in trouble. His eyes in the car seems almost happy. I understand why he’s mad at the mom, he overheard the dad saying she set him up by lying he hit her when she said she killed her son. He’s mad at the dad as well. I think the son knows they still have feelings for each other and wants them to admit it to each other. I 100% the son don’t hate his mom, he missed her when he was living with dad, but end up walking in on them. Also Da kyung is getting into Joon’s head, it’s not his fault. I hope Joon gets away from her before she makes him do something destructive.

Most of the time i want to just play the streaming at 2 times speed for its long runtime, dragging, and boring paced story. Sometimes it hurts to just finish an episode, but since i'm not the type to let anything hang midway, let's see it through. Usually in many K-dramas, 80% of the plot from the beginning always have good foundation to make up the story, and 20% of the last episode will define if its a good drama, or just a garbage. Hope watching this series isn't just another waste of time :D

Certain things that bother me about the characters though are: 1 Joon Young is too immature for an 8th grader. He is somewhat selfish. 2 in Kyu should have been kept in jail longer. For someone who could have killed someone for repeated abusive behavior, I'm disappointed he only got 1 or 2 years. Robbers get more time than that.

As much as I don't like Joon Young (I tried to cope with him because oh well circumstances), in the 11th episode we can clearly see the parents are just using him to mess up with each other. They're obsessed with each other in a toxic way. Only care about "don't wanna make my son's mom/dad a murder" but never actually pay attention to their son.

Well, as exhausting as it is, the drama is really good on potraying there's nobody that totally black or white, we're always gray.

It just shows you shouldn't marry a person, who you can't trust, who can't give you security and who shows red flags over red flags early on in the dating phase. You just should not ignore it. If you can trust the person now, what makes you think, that the person gonna change in the future.

People should have been proud given the fact that you left that partner for the right reason. I was raised by an annulled mother and I couldn’t be more proud of how I turned out to be. Each character subtly reflects the conflict, fears, ambition, greed, lust and conflicting emotions that occur in life. I am amazed how well cast this production is. Kudos to a strong female lead that is determined, yet vulnerable. To watch the "victim" become the aggressor keeps this journey spinning like an emotional roller coaster. Such a guilty pleasure...

How indifferent can people to people be. From the beginning I didn’t get how mean and silly Da-Kyung be. Seriously stealing a husband from another woman ?! Girl, aren’t you afraid of Karma? Our Sun Woon perfectly said it : “Be careful, there’s no rule that says you won’t end up like me...” I didn’t like it, when Sun Woo slept with her friend’s husband, at least cheating was the reason that ruined her family... We’re all humans and we make mistakes it’s okay, but, this one isn’t a regular mistake... I hope she won’t make any this kind of mistakes again... Myung-Sook, ah, even though I hate Tae Oh, she’s one I hate the most. Pretending being her friend but always ready to stab an arrow in her back... Tae Oh is typical cheater husband, who’s been always behind in his wife’s shadow, I think he’s mentally ill and obsessed with his wife... About Joon Young, at first I really tried to understand him, I mean, Tae Oh left his wife and not son, he wanted his father in his life as any other teenager( and not only, everyone wants a loving father by their side, and we saw Tae Oh was a loving father tohis son) want, but how can he be ungrateful towards her mother? I mean she definitely did everything for her family, and she’s the one who was cheated and he saw it by himself, I really hope he will think of his mother more often and tries to understand too, as he did in last episode... But hoping that at the end, cheating shouldnt be romaticize here, this series must not encourage that its okay to cheat and thay you will eventually have a happy life in the end. Cheaters should face consequences most especially if you cheat in your marriage. Marriage isnt a game you can just change if you want to. it is holy. A lesson here is to protect marriage at all cost. But man like Tae Oh should feel guilty for leaving such great wife and son. Da Kyung must be feeling what Sunwoo felt before, being paranoid. she deserves this. People who cheated will not be happy if they are hurting people. They will never be happy! Teach them both a lesson! The first wife deserve peace of mind and a happy life.

joon young multiple times asked his mother to forgive his dad.. he told his mom what he really want, he want his family back, but in the end his parent divorced, maybe this is why joon young a bit disappointed with his mom..

and when his dad invite him, he choose to come to his dad's house because he missed him so much.. but he end up get hurt after sawing his dad being so happy with his daughter.. it's the same as his father betraying him..

so don't blame him for being mean to his mom.. he's just a victim, his family can't be the same anymore and it must be hurt him so badly..

He has 2 phones( similar when he cheated with the mistress), now have someone tailing her( similar sunwoo did to him with the other girl with the abusive boyfriend), and trying to make her lose her job. It was hard seeing it as I saw my mom being one of them and my grandmother too (who was like tae oh’s mom) It was heartbreaking

Great cast, great story line and glad I started watching from episode 1. Gives me time to restock and regroup my feelings and question the rights and wrongs and get into the characters psyche while waiting for the week-long wait new episodes.

And no idol stars to reckon with - just amazing actors who know their craft!

With the 6th episode, I feel bad: the ex-husband - Tae Oh - will take revenge. Why ? - He wants his son - He can't bear to have lost "face" - there is also this story of money that everyone forgot: when he withdrew the money from the couple's insurance and when he took out insurance on behalf of his son. - In fact, his company was bad and there were 2 insurances. Does he have the idea of making an "accident" to his son to receive the money? And that's why he didn't want to divorce? We will see in the other episodes. But sometimes the authors of Korean dramas get on my nerves!

Sheesh there’s 10 episodes left and the plot twists that have taken place so far could’ve been enough for 3 different dramas. The writers of this show are superb and the actresses/actors play their roles so well. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for us viewers.

Aurora Apr 05 2020 4:47 am The last affair/revenge drama I watched was V.I.P. When I saw this drama, I was excited, however I came in with zero expectations because I did not want to be disappointed. Well my expectations have been surpassed. This is the most scandalous, most captivating, most have-you-at-the-edge of your seat drama I’ve ever watched. From the first 2 episodes I thought Sunwoo would be boxed into one of those dreadful female leads who couldn’t stand up for her selves, but oh utterly wrong wrong was I. Kim HeeAe acting is marvelous and I relish in every second of it....the amount of action that has gone down in this drama would have be believe that I’m already half way through the entire series if not at the end. But were only one episode four...four! They say revenge is a dish best served cold and this entire drama thus far has been the most beautiful and entrancing personification of that very statement. I cannot wait to see the many more surprises this drama poses to viewers! I plan to throughly enjoy the ride and roller coaster of emotions. Thank you to everyone that played a part in creating this masterpiece!

I normally don't like these cheating/betrayal types because usually the responses from the main characters are quite weak - but I love some good revenge. I'm crushing so hard on Kim Hee Ae (I have been for years but wow), she is a goddess! Wow, just wow. This is what I want from this type of drama - I don't want all that long and drawn out, sad longing and heartbreak - I want some well deserved revenge! I love that they are getting to the point - we do still have those difficult emotional moments but she's not just suffering and biting her tongue and taking everything - she's actually working on a resolution - Good! She's giving them all a little glimpse of the hell they opened her up to - Good! Let them know they messed with the wrong person! I'm so looking forward to the rest of it and I hope it ends the way I think it will. Waaaaah I'm rooting for Sun Woo - you're doing amazing sweetie!!

Bella Mar 28 2020 1:59 pm When watching this drama, I was reminded of Misty. As it turns out, the director of this series also directed the drama Misty (which was incredible, highly recommend). I loved Misty, and I feel like I am going to love this series as well. I didn't watch the original, Doctor Foster, so I began to watch episode one and I was surprised at how this series took the exact same elements, even little things, and input it into this series. It was amazing to see that. I'm going to watch Doctor Foster along with The World of the Married to compare them. I'm highly interested in this version and don't want to potentially spoil the show by watching Doctor Foster. I'm so excited!
