I have never seen another show which was beautifully written and perfectly cast. A huge thank you (and much respect) to Park Hae-Young (as well as the director, cast, and all involved) for creating such an incredible piece of art.

I have been watching Korean TV series for approximately two years, mostly Rom-Com and governmental ethics theme series. Your thought provoking script really hit the mark. It showed real humanity and the challenges we as humans face: loneliness, insecurities, addiction, and the finality of death. Your choice for the ending of the series is open-ended and reflects life. When do we ever have guarantees that we will have a happy ending. Most of us desire an emotionally rewarding life in our closest relationships. What you appear to be saying through the actors is to be steadfast in developing a healthy approach in obtaining our goals….no promises, but a good start.

I love slow slice of life healing drama that reflects the actual everyday lives of people. This drama absorbs you into their world and carry the audience along with the characters. BTW Mr. Gu is so dreamy and I'm crushing hard on him. Love his gazing eyes and smirk ? I don't want the drama to end.

Watching My Liberaton Notes Apr 25 2022 3:55 pm Watched "My Mister"...Beyond Great television! Immaculate writing. Watching "My Liberation Notes"...6 episodes in one day, rewatching because I am finding it hard to wait for the next release and because I want to soak in every morsel, and sear it like a cattle brand into my frontal cortex. It is so suburb to watch Korean actors and actresses commit themselves to this wonderful story. Btw Korean programming is the best in the world, with the most underrated actors and actresses in the world. I started watching 25 years ago and have never looked back. All American programming pales and wilts in comparison. But you Park Hae-young are just hitting your stride and I am looking forward to many, many more great programs. I could say a lot more. But I rest my case. Thank You.

I loved the dialogue between mi jeong and hyun-ah eonni "in my past life I was you...", then of course the epic "worship me...", story behind the nickname "pickup girl"... why is this series so beautiful?

So I clicked on the link to Park Hae-Young on Asianwiki and to my surprise I find that she also wrote Another Oh Hae-Young, another one of my favorites. Then I'm looking at her name and it hits me her name is the same as the character in AOHY!!! Wow. I know it's stupid but had to share it. Can't wait for the next episodes. Thank you Ms Park!!!

While all written earlier on this site is very much true interestingly My Mister is one of the rare drama which brings out huge spiritual Insight in a very direct way but still woven within the themr of the story. Let me put some examples here.

"Every building is a battle between internal and external forces. The external forces are the wind, load and vibration.We calculate all the possible external forces.then design the internal forces stronger than that.

The internal forces must always be stronger than the external forces.

Life is in a way a battle between internal and external forces. No matter what happens, if you have internal forces, you will last.

And what are the internal forces of life?

The things that support us and we think are internal forces (family..wealth..beliefs), none of them are us ...(And here the answer lies in the secret revealed by the realized sages )

And no matter what happens outside but if you have internal forces , you would be okay.

Also

A young girl when asked why she likes running..tells..

"Because when I run, I disappear, and that feels like my real self."

Again a very revealing statement...experience so well described by Osho.

So insightful...A great creation...

Easily one of the best drama I have ever watched in 40 years..

Thank you for bringing such an amazing script to the world. It's one of the finest scripts and the director and all the cast have done complete justice and elevated the drama to a materpiece.

How could you write so deeply about a person's suffering and longing? About human misery and failure and the void we all face. The monotony of everyday sometimes. Every character was gold. Was a discovery. I'm now an eternal fan of yours.

I can't wait to see more of your works. @Peter Tromp, I couldn't agree more with you! I am tired of American series, even the so called sitcoms. I love "Friends", perhaps because it is relatable to me; but frankly speaking, I almost can't stand the recent American tv series. I think good K-dramas are more relatable now because of the cultural proximity and because the writers can tackle difficult and serious issues with good sense of humor.

Peter Tromp Jul 10 2021 2:27 pm I couldn't watch TV shows for years - even things that people raved about, like Breaking Bad and The Handmaids Tale - and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why. Then I discovered Korean drama, of which I've watched multiple series on the trot, hungry for more, and I finally figured out why I was so put off by TV shows and even movies for so many years: I had become tired of American culture, values and frankly their prideful exceptionalism being shoved down my throat. One thing you hardly see in American TV, which tends to be escapist and grand, even when it tackles serious subject matter, is income inequality - the taboo of taboos in the U.S. - but Korean cultural products do not seem to shy away from this topic, and it's been a breath of fresh air to see the most obviously serious problem in the world actually being taken into account in the formulation of stories. My Mister is uncomfortable to watch at times, as people struggling to make ends meet while juggling their life's responsibilities is hardly sexy fare, but my goodness is it life affirming to see peoples' economic struggles being acknowledged, while their dignity and resilience are celebrated. I'm South African, and I can relate to Korean characters and their circumstances far more than what is portrayed in American TV and movies, and that has reignited my passion for visual narratives. Park Hae-Young proves with My Mister just what an incredibly capable and gifted writer she is, and the fact that she wrote Another Miss Oh, another beloved series, just makes me respect and admire her that much more. Her ability to write memorable, multi-dimensional and deeply touching characters is honestly almost unbelievable. The fact that she's a woman makes me admire her even more, because her male characters especially are so believable. There's no denying that women have to work harder to achieve the heights of men in industries that have traditionally been dominated by men, but when they're as exceptional as Park Hae-Young on top of it all...just makes you wonder where we as a species would be right now if women's potential hadn't been suppressed for millennia; probably not in the trouble we are now.

It balances comedy with pathos so skillfully and exhibits great understanding and compassion. The characters' individual arcs are spun and the dialogue never strikes a false note. It is one of my most-admried K-dramas and I've watched some great K-dramas from the last five years.

Peace Mar 01 2021 12:30 am My mister is a fantastic story that I would want to see a sequel to. Say 5yrs or 6yrs later, Dong Hoon’s doing very well as CEO of his own company deals with the tragic loss of his wife. Ji-An now in her late twenties and doing well professionally and in a stable relationship becomes the love interest of a reformed Gwang-Il. The writer can take the plot from there and deepen it. it will show Ji-An’s journey from being seen as a kid by Dong Hoon to being a woman and where that leads. Of course JiAn’s and DongHoon’s incredible sense of loyalty to their friendship not forgotten in this sequel. I hope the writer considers this. I believe there is a lot of appetite for a sequel that ends happily ever after for both Dong Hoon and Ji An while continuing to examine what love, forgiveness, second chances should mean in a healthy society as Park Hae Yeong so masterfully does in Mr Mister.

The way love is portrayed will make you understand and sympathize with all the characters, no matter how hard they misbehave and make mistakes. My Mister will be always in my heart and in my soul as a precious gift. The downside is that after watching it you won't be able to appreciate any other KDrama anymore :D This one is the best of the best and I still don't find any that can match its beauty. A story of redemption--but not an easy or perfect one. The characters are not at home in this world, they feel they belong on another star or to another time. And yet they are able to choose life. Wonderful writing! Tears. Laughter. As Lee Ji-Ahn would say, or as Park Dong Hoon would say, again and again: "thank you."

They said it better than I could. I started watching Turk tv on Netflix for the deeper story lines and then found out that they have borrowed a lot from K drama so now I am captured by Korean tv. I have not seen anything of this quality and beauty before and don't know if I ever will. No over reliance on sex and dirty language to "sell" your story. Your writing is so deep and so polished and you handle so many themes with such ease. It makes me want to be a better person, motivated by love, a more giving and forgiving person, a Park Dong Hoon. As a writer, I am inspired by what you've done. Problem is now I cannot bear to watch anything else. My heart is too full and I do not want to lose what you've given me.

The whole series is a masterpiece, and the writing rises to the level of Fyodor Dostoyevsky. We've never seen anything like it, and probably never will again. If this drama series ever receives proper worldwide distribution it will be viewed a hundred years from now as the highest achievement of the film art.

The problem is that it's no longer available on a streaming service. This is a classic that needs to become available around the world.

Pretty much the same recycled storylines just in different settings then along comes a rare masterpiece like My Mister & my entire kdrama experience is completely shaken to the very core! I honestly have not watched a single kdrama since the ending of My Mister. I’ve tried...many times...but I can’t bring myself to do it because everything else absolutely pales in comparison! At this point, I’m just waiting for your next drama and hopefully that will get me out of this funk. Here’s wishing you continued success for the future!

Isha Jul 27 2018 1:32 am Currently watching My Mister and I'm addicted. And Another Oh Hae Young will always be my favorite kdrama. I love all the characters and their imperfections. I read a comment that a reason Another Oh Hae Young wasn't like is that the main leads are despicable. That's right, they are. I love the fact that the main leads acknowledge that they're despicable and selfish. I adore that despite all their faults and imperfections, the main leads learn to live on and embrace themselves. I deeply respect how this drama showed that you're not obligated to feel shame or guilt for your actions, as long as you take responsibility for whatever you did. So that when embracing yourself and who you are, if that's someone selfish and despicable, then so be it. The message to be yourself, whoever that is (good or bad), without regret and take responsibility for the repercussions of your actions is truly beautiful. ALSO, Oh Hae Young has been a role model of mine, she's simply so mentally strong and fierce. I'm in love with how she will always stay true to herself and her emotions courageously, that she'd rather be herself even if that means being humiliated. I love it when she embraces herself, like when she accepted that she was easy. Beautiful character! I'm literally in love with Another Oh Hae Young, but sadly, I cannot find another show like it. It really is such an amazing show!!! THANK YOU for writing the storyline and making it happen!!! <3

Feel the story is amazing, many conversation have a deep meaning. Its realistic story but i think the writer tell us with a deep another perfection of that. Wondering who write the script so i search it and so glad that park hae young is writer of another oh hae young too. My another favourite drama.. hahaha. Sera May 16 2018 12:31 am Hated Another Miss Oh for two reasons: 1. Main characters are really despicable people. They've done wrong to the second leads yet they show no shame or guilt. 2. When you thought they were going to heal each other wounds, they covered it up with another romance that makes them even more crazy.

Other than that, I really did like the drama at one time. I can really relate to writer's characters, but she should not overdo the craziness or make her characters do questionable things. I cannot root a romance like that.
