Set in 1997, while the South Korean economy was going through an economic crisis. Kang Tae-Poong's (Lee Joon-Ho) father runs a small company named Typhoon Trading Company. Due to his wealthy father, Kang Tae-Poong lived a carefree life, but the worst economic crisis hits South Korea. This changes everything. While the economic crisis hits Typhoon Trading Company, Kang Tae-Poong's father passes away.

Kang Tae-Poong is determined not to let the company, which his father loved like his own family, go bankrupt. Kang Tae-Poong steps in to become the CEO and to save the company. Although he was immature in his past, he is armed with a warm-heart, a strong sense of responsibility, and a spirit for challenges. He struggles to save the company with his family and his employees, including Oh Mi-Seon (Kim Min-Ha).

Oh Mi-Seon is the eldest daughter in her family and carries the burden of her family on her shoulders. She works as a bookkeeper at Typhoon Trading Company. She does things like washing cups, cleaning, attaching receipts and organizing ledgers. While Kang Tae-Poong tries to save the company, Oh Mi-Seon gains hope from his appearance. With her diligence and sincerity, she dreams of becoming a career woman at Typhoon Trading Company.

Definitely recommend it, one of the best works of Junho! And Minha is finally getting the recognition that she deserves omg so good to see!! If you consider watching it, definitely worths to give it a shot! Recommend it to watch it during winter~

K-drama Holic Dec 28 2025 4:42 pm Nice drama with good plot. Kudos to the actors and actresses acting! The only thing I wish not in the drama is the romance subplot. The romance between Kang Taepoong and Oh Miseon is unnecessary and feels forced. It'll be more interesting if they're just partners who had different reasons but same goal to save the company from bankruptcy, for a coming-of-age drama plot. Look at how Misaeng can be great office drama with similar genre without romance subplot. The romantic scenes ruin everything and made me fast-forwarding those parts because it's cringing.

Miri Dec 21 2025 7:52 pm Good show good acting - i particularly enjoyed Taepongs smarts in getting out of tricky situations and finding a solution. Would have been good to see the characters finally catch a break and have good luck on there side. My favourite character was Kim Hye Eun who played the port owner, Kim Ji Young who played Taepongs Mum and also the 3 characters that played the grandma, sister and little brother. Would recommend this drama as realistic and im glad the characters all had crying scenes as made it feel real when you experience misfortune.

Love story is not some clique about some childhood connection or love at ffirst sight. Junho & Minha really lived in their characters . Even side characters are so good . Very motivating story . Really family love that bond between parents & children also depicted bbeautifully

Jookyung Dec 12 2025 9:22 am The negative reviews about why they keep losing and losing, keep suffering, so it’s boring, etc lowkey funny but how you expecting a show that take in place in 1997 IMF crisis having less conflict or less losing?? Like maybe just seek lot of office drama somewhere else. Idk if the commenters here mainly from the west where it’s not impacted by the crisis or maybe somewhere else, but as someone where my country take one of the hardest hit of this crisis I actually find the show lighter than what I expected.

I really love how this drama portraying the events. Combined with how great the casts doing. I also love how this drama definitely introduce itself would centered toward the 5 employees and the CEO but rather than we see the employees assemble together of all times, we got introduce to them one by one. Make them more shining on their own

I love how they potrayed love story, how to deal with difficult situations, the bonding of Taepoong Trading employees, and it taught me that the world is not always full of flowers or hell. For me, this is the best korean series in 2025. Hope this series can win any award show! Also congratulations for reaching 10% rating!! Cannot wait for Lee Junho and Kim Minha to give flowers at the train station ^^

Harrieth Dec 02 2025 2:50 am Before watching this, I had already researched the IMF crisis and watched documentaries about life during that time, and I can say that what they portray here is very similar to the situation back then. In this drama, we are shown the lives of ordinary people with their own strengths and weaknesses. Even though they keep taking turns failing and succeeding while trying to rebuild their company, the most important thing is resilience.

For those who say this is boring, dumb because they keep failing, or call it a stupid show — well, it’s a drama that tells a realistic story about human life, not a story about what people should do. And so far, the plot has remained consistent from beginning to end. You’re the ones who fail to understand what this drama is actually trying to convey.

Amirul Nov 30 2025 11:12 am Episode 15 is stupid. It’s like law doesn’t exist anymore. The deal between tae poong and the pyo father, not his company. The bank simply closed early just to declare the company bankruptcy, there’s legal firm for that. You can’t easily declare other bankrupts. And the district office act like a gangster? They destroy a good drama. It beyond watchable now.

Zeila Nov 30 2025 10:50 am When I saw some of my favorites in the cast...Lee Junho, Kim Yung Ok, Kim Min Suk, Kim Sang Ho, Sung Dong Il...I got excited! It's got to be good, huh? Nope, no, nada. Most depressing show I've ever seen. Ep after ep the CEO gets trampled on, workers screw up, attempted suicide...seriously?? Horrible scenarios all the way through. The only bright spot was Junho singing "You're Just Too Good to be True" and the surprise of Kim Min Suk's beautiful voice. Probably going to get some hate, but I think KMS's voice was better than Junho's. All in all, I can't recommend this show unless you have nothing else to watch.

Even before, I liked and admired Lee Jun Ho with all my heart but his performance in this drama is unreal, it's magnificent, it's beyond my words, it's divine....this man was born to be an actor. Instead, the story is presented from a third-person, observational perspective, allowing viewers to simply “peek” into the characters’ daily lives. Because of this, much of the interpretation depends on the viewer, and different people may read the symbolism in different ways. That’s why there’s mixed review of criticism and praise, for me it’s 9/10, this drama also not easily digested especially for those that can’t bear with constant suffering.

At its core, the drama emphasizes resilience, symbolized through the cosmos flower. Kang Taepoong serves as the embodiment of positive resilience. He strives to rebuild his life after the economic collapse, all while supporting the people around him, guided by the values instilled by his father. He showed positive growtj from rookie CEO who didn’t know anything, flawed, to CEO that gained trust from his team.

Instead of helping others endure the crisis, he continuously attempts to bring them down. This duality makes it clear that crises test not only economic systems but also the character and morality of individuals.

The drama reinforces this contrast by making Kang Taepoong face two constant challenges every time he tries to move forward: the economic aftermath of the IMF crisis and Pyo’s ongoing interference. Some viewers may wonder why the plot feels repetitive or why the story leans so heavily into personal conflict. But this actually makes perfect narrative sense — an antagonist who hasn’t achieved his goal will naturally keep trying. Moreover, the drama intentionally focuses on how ordinary people experience and respond to extreme circumstances, rather than delivering a technical or historical depiction of the IMF itself.

Ultimately, the message becomes clear: no matter how severe the crisis, the future is shaped by human choices. Will people rise together, set aside their ego, and become more humane, or will they give in to selfishness and personal vendettas? It became extremely tiring to watch when all their efforts are constantly going to waste. The typhoon dude simping on the female staff is on the next level of discomfort. Extremely anti-climatic and I really don't recommend the show. Don't waste your time.

workinggirl Nov 26 2025 3:03 pm Love this drama. Yes, it shows a lot of hardships but because That's Life. Thats the whole point of this drama. Its to show to the viewers that you wont get anything in life the easy way especially when it comes to being a businessman. Everything is a risk. What i also love about this is that it eventhough the characters are going through so much pain, they still have that hope in them and they are happy in the simplest ways. That's life when you're in poverty. This a story about how the characters are gonna get back up after the IMF crisis. So many lessons to learn from this show. Last thing, i Loveee the main leads chemistry. Kilig. Lee jun ho ur so handsome <333

Fun Nov 24 2025 2:35 am It's a Bad Drama Actually. Because I didn't see the Male Lead as a Great or Good Leader. He always do something alone without good strategy or discussion with his team. Just walking alone and hopping support that he didn't ask to his team.

The Conflict i think is a Lazy Writing form the Writer that every Story didn't give a unique plot and high value to get a Learn or something that related with any problem. I know its a fiction Drama but some research is not deep enough.

The people walking along the streets where Bae made the phone calls dont look a bit like a local Malaysian. They look either like immigrants from South Asian countries (India or Bangladesh) or like the Thais. The sounds the man eating noodles bought by Bae also sounds like a Thai. The public phones Bae used? That type of phone could only exist in 1960s or 70s, not in a modern and 1997's Malaysia.

There is criticism about the script writer about plot drama, but Junho's acting still gets praise..

However this is one doom and gloom series all the way through! As good as acting as he’s doing as the rest of the cast on his side, the Plot stinks!!! Could have been way better! He takes one step forward, only to fall back 2 steps all throughout the series! Ridiculous!!! Boring! Inadequate! I stopped at episode 7, couldn’t take the same old same old again happening! Too bad! Because Lee JunHo deserves a much better role and plot! Writers did a bad job! Not worth watching!

Every time they try to sell something, there’s always some kind of obstacle. I thought that after episode 8, Typhoon Trading would start to rise and succeed, but it turns out that even up to episode 12, the problems are still the same

Febrylian Nov 15 2025 8:07 pm good story but until episode 11 it's a bit boring because it seems like the main problem is in Pyo's group .. for the character I really like FL Kim Min Ha I think she has a strong character that is not ordinary. The character's face is even more unique with her freckles, her gestures are very natural .. hopefully she will be more successful! LJH no doubt she has a good character and confidence that really suits the character of this film. besides that I like the character of Tae Pong's mother .. hopefully episode 12 will be more interesting

Olya_1004 Nov 10 2025 12:00 am I love this drama so much,I can't wait for Friday each week to watch it. Usually I watch a few ongoing dramas and I tend to not watch the same drama in consecutive days but this one is just pulling me in.

I won't lie ,I was hesitant because I've seen the FL in Light shop and while she acted well I had a hard time seeing her as a lead I guess because of how she looks but I feel ashamed because I do see a lot her natural charm in this drama. Kiss scene was chefs kiss lol, I guess Junho just knows how to kiss because even in King the land they had one of the best first kisses I've seen.

This drama just has a lot going for it without overshadowing the plot with romance or being over the top. Loveable characters and some annoying ones but overall it has a lot of heart.

I find that I really love Tae Poong's mom,she is such a sweet lady that opened up her heart to a family that's not hers and trying to give them the mother figure they are missing. I've been seeing a lot of rich ladies like her in Kdramas lately and I love them. Like the step mom in A hundred memories or the oldest member of the group in A virtuous business or the landlady that wanted to be a lawyer in law and the city. Instead of following the usual trope of mean and nasty rich moms these ones have been showing so much love and care.

fynnunn Nov 04 2025 3:07 pm It is because you are used to the usual visual of a Female Lead, doll like and cute.. She is pretty imo, and i find an overwhelming chemistry between them, but not the usual visual couple you are used to..

and for once please focus on the storyline itself, it is definitely good. scenes and dialogues are choreograph simply, and thats the beauty of it.

Ute Nov 04 2025 5:01 am Regarding the FL: I think you see what it's about her in the first episode. Tae-poong loves flowers, he cares about them, helps them to flourish and he calls Min-ha a cosmos. During the series we will see her slowly blossom up. She will grow and he will strengthen her without overshadowing her small steps.

I can't wait to follow this series, it is so different from many romance dramas. For me this series is a gem with the highest rating! I love this show!

King the Land was not the best Lee Junho show but no one can deny the chemistry he had with the FL. It's not just the visuals that seem off but Lee Junho has a very strong presence so he does need a strong FL to match that too. Someone help me get past this irrational bias so I can start watching this show without being disappointed! Signed, Flexible.

It takes time to build the story. Episode 1 is about a boy called Kang Tae Poong Episode 2 is losing his father & why he has to become an employee of his father's company. Episode 3 is about losing everything and Episode 4 is rebuilding a business from the ashes.

It has been slowly buiding emotional core of the story. The Real Business and challenges started from episode 5 & 6 when Taepoong sells the first ever item of his export company.

Ppl are used to short episode dramas and tiktok reels. They think stories with proper built up are boring & want a ready made handsome,rich, intelligent leads from the start.

Don’t expect makjang or over dramatic scenes as this drama is a human genre drama means it’s completely realistic no time traveling no makjang no fantasy no murders whatsoever just flawed characters that is relatable, real and we can empathise them~ the feel and vibes is so nice and warm, junho is good as always been loving his dramas, minha is cute and really fits the role. Great script and writing, I know why some people may find it boring maybe sometimes it’s hard to understand as we r in different era, but it’s interesting to learn about the past. Hope more people can admire this drama ! It’s really different and unique from other dramas :)

In personifying the struggles of both employees and business owners, this drama was very well written and performed...the tenacity to rebuild a collapsing economy was so inspiring. The art direction and great acting was on point. The slowburn but sweet romance got me cheering them on.
