A story depicting a fierce struggle for the throne in Joseon.

Choi Chun-Joong (Park Si-Hoo) is the best face reader in the nation. He was born into a prestigious family, but his family was killed off. He is looked down upon as a fortune-teller, but he eventually becomes the most powerful person in Joseon. He is aware of Joseon's fate and tries to change it. He also devotes his life to the woman he loves.

Lee Bong-Ryeon (Ko Sung-Hee) is a beautiful princess and the daughter of King Cheoljong. She has a special ability to see the fate of people. Her ability is a blessing and, at the same time, a curse to her. Lee Bong-Ryeon meets Choi Chun-Joong and tries to change the fate of Joseon for the better.

"Wind and Cloud and Rain" takes over TV Chosun's Saturday & Sunday 22:50 time slot previously occupied by "Queen: Love and War" and followed by "Hera: The Goddess of Revenge" on November 21, 2020.
Based on novel "Baramgwa Gooreumgwa Bi" by Lee Byung-Joo (published from 1977 to 1987 in newspapers The Chosun Ilbo).
Story features a mixture of fictional characters and real historical characters.
Song Seung-Heon was first offered the role of Heungseon Daewongun, but declined.

Weather Girl Feb 15 2024 9:05 pm Can someone please explain to me why being a Princess, she is being kept captive living with the enemy ? I just don't get it why being a Princess that she did not reveal the reasons that she is being threatened with the killing of her mother and the man she loves, since the King himself already acknowledged both her and her mother ? Why can't the FL just seek protection from the palace and not subject herself to being at the mercy of the Kim-Moons ??? Simply doesn't make sense at all to me ... Also I get confused and can't differentiate between the two mean Kim brothers who look alike except for the adopted one who was just as mean !!!

Other than the above, I enjoyed seeing the main leads who were in their 30s and not youngsters acting in this drama. FL has the simple kind of beauty that one doesn't find in the Korean actresses with perfect , plastic enhanced features .... why I like the fact that her facial mole gives her character !

I like the silent chemistry between the main leads and also the second leads ... that's how things are back in Joseon period where secrecy of love and passion remain in the background and only their eyes and body languages tell of the love they shared with each other. I'm halfway through the drama and will watch till the end as I love sageuk dramas with lovely costumes and those wooden thatched roofs.

Park Min Jan 04 2024 6:53 pm This set up was just terrible— unconvincing, cartoonish, and downright ridiculous. And don't even get me started on that plot armor, it's like they thought they could get away with it. That love triangle was a mess. The guy was just plain revolting, but the real issue was how the writer tried to force us to feel sorry for him. If you're gonna have a crappy love triangle, just stick with it! Another bad habit the drama had was how often they leaned into cheesy drama tricks, killing the narrative and any potential right off the bat. One more thing to mention, I don't know how it's possible but the leads had negative chemistry. Their younger selves had a slightly better screen presence anyway.

Candilla Oct 18 2021 6:15 pm I really enjoyed this series from beginning to ending.it was impactful in every way, there was romance, action ,suspense great chemistry, this drama had it all. I especially loved the fact that it had lots of tragedy but still a happy ending. I loved Me sunshine but not the ending but this gave me my happy ending. The costume were awesome and the music. I give this series 9 out of 10.

veronika Aug 28 2021 12:51 am Zero chemistry between the lead characters but that could be due to zero looks of the female lead and her equally lacking acting skills. A beautiful female lead makes a lot of difference.

Paul Apr 07 2021 8:11 pm This drama is called King Maker: Change of Destiny NOT Joseon Love Story. The love story is a minor subplot. The palace intrigue and machinations to control the fate of Joseon are the point of this drama. So personally I could care less about their chemistry. It's ok, maybe not seething passion but they are supposed to be trying to keep it under wraps anyway. This is a good drama. Pretty good ratings too for a cable channel.

dramalover Feb 25 2021 3:13 am I'm at ep 11 and I'm going to drop this drama. Seems kind of boring halfway. If you are into horoscopes and fortune telling then you would probably enjoy this drama. If not, there are really better Sageuk dramas out there. Also, too many new characters being introduced for me so if you're looking for an easy watch, this drama is not for u.

Although the chemistry keeps fluctuating but even that itself makes it more suitable for a mature romance in a love and war situation that the drama has been portraying right from the start. Every episode is a joy to watch. Great actors and fantastic acting.

The scene where Yeon Chisung said to the queen, “That’s okay, cry for us” is also really emotional. I also really love the chemistry between Yeon Chisung and the queen (Min Ja Young) even though they can’t be that close in the end because Chi Sung is Ja Young’s guard.

How did Park Jung Yeon ( the future queen) get adopted? Wasn’t she an orphan?

Also the dialogue with the couple begging for forgiveness does not make sense. Ep 17 something must of gotten lost in translation.

If this timeline is correct the King and Queen are the second to last Monarchs of Joseon period.

Unlike other performances where he played a single faceted villain, here he gets to show a much wider range of his acting abilities. It’s a joy to watch.

Both leads are great at their roles, specially Park si hoo who's doing magnificently. involved and the story has great pace. I generally dislike period korean dramas because they are too melodramatic. This one still is but it's a great script with great acting. One of the best dramas currently running.

It would make for an intriguing drama. Princess Bong-Ryeon would have been one of Cheoljong's two daughters to palace ladies.
