Woo Hee (Jun Jong-Seo) is the empress of Goguryeo. A crisis ensues when her husband, the king of Goguryeo, dies suddenly. Woo Hee becomes the target of princes and the 5 tribes who all want to gain more power. To protect her family and her tribe, she uses levirate marriage. She struggles to marry one of her late husband's younger brothers and set them upon the throne. Woo Hee has to accomplish everything within 24 hours.

jeneca May 22 2026 11:49 am it's an absolute travesty that this drama is only 8 episodes, and i love queen woo as the main protagonist, but then the fifth prince should have been the one to succeed nam-mu, not the 4th one, that goofy loser .. also, how on earth does the producer see it right to end the series just as the war begins? this is an injustice, por favor .. bring us another season, expeditiously!!

I need to see Part 3 & Part 4 (8 eps more). Based on the ending, the Queen will not win the battle, the people will retreat to a fortress with a new Goguryeo. So please continue with that storyline & the same cast (RIP Song Jae-rim). Who kill the King??? My mind is not @ peace...

The pace of this show is exciting. Great flow of sequences, great editing. Intense and gripping. I haven't watched any show which is so fulfilling, satisfactory and exciting since I watched season 2 of Kingdom. Queen Woo is simply magnificent! Where and when is the sequel??? I Love the costumes. Stunning especially the Queen's outfits.

Un modeste admirateur Jan 04 2025 5:19 pm The intensity of "Queen Woo" left me breathless, and I can only compare it to one other drama I've watched: "Kingdom". It's a maelstrom of blood and steel, a torrent of gore that drifts you away and submerges you. Maybe one or two voyeuristic scenes belonged more in an American series than a Korean drama. But this is just nitpicking that shouldn't stop us from recognizing the absolutely brilliancy of the acting, writing and filming that all consipired to show, both literally and figuratively, that in the game of chess, the queen is the most powerful.

spledidcasting Oct 24 2024 8:31 am the casting team did splendid job. as i reach the last episodes, i concurred many of the actors are the perfect ones for the characters they are in. Not just the leading characters but also many of the supporting characters. But both FL and ML are awesome. I love the part where the father of the head maid asked the queen where the head maid is. and the queen didnt answer it, I think it was in ep 7, instead she gave that look staring back at her dad for a good long several seconds. Not a single word, but she could convey the message that her sis is dead. I mean i could read her face like her dad did, and i am just a viewer. lol That was very difficult scene. She made it looked ez. But you cannot just acting giving that look. most likely, you would end up look vacuous if not with empty look. But she could pull that one off with very clear strong non verbal. In regard to the sex scenes, the decision making people must have good logical explanation for that. Maybe they want to make sure to show that the era of the year 190 something ce were of a dark ages ones, of a non enlightenment era, where women worth nothing. life is one hopeless very short journey for most people. Perhaps that was one explanation. I think viewers got shocked due to the rather uncommon, even bizarre sexual conduct scenes. I mean... boss woman conducted official meeting while getting oral from f.ckboy. Was it not bizarre from any standard? But heck... nothing surprised me anymore. I yawned watching those scenes. Overall, a top notch performance by many of the actors.

Surprise Sep 19 2024 3:08 pm I almost gave up on this after episodes 3-4 were a bit, it took a while before I watched the rest. I'm happy I watched the rest. Ep 5-8 were really exciting, I really like the storyline and where the whole thing is going so far. I wasn't too impressed with the Queen's acting in the beginning, but how the actress is portraying the queen is beginning to make sense :)

Jt Sep 10 2024 3:51 am Anyone who thinks this is perfect has obviously never watched an even remotely good drama before. It was boring and the bad writing shows. The director was just a pick me director who tried to be different in every way possible to be edgy. The only interesting parts were the flashbacks and the relationship between the king and queen. There was a lot of action but action is useless when the viewer doesn’t care for the characters, which was pretty hard to do, considering that most of them had pretty terrible personalities. The only one I care about right now is the queen, but I wouldn’t shed tears even if she died, and I usually cry easily.

A real political story is about trick and disgusting ploy. By the way, it seems unnecessary to have such a load of naked plot... but i think it's actually elaborate and well-performed tv series.

The story is realistic, very good costumes, scenografy, powerful acting ( especially Ji chang wook), excellent dialogues, with very dramatic fight scenes, intrigues on the royal court, betrayal... Very interesting. I recommend it to all, who like very good written stories.

Suprise Aug 30 2024 3:12 pm Well, I got to ep 4 and changed my mind. Ep 1-2 was ok with steamy scenes, but then it got a bit out of hand. The story is based on real people, but are there historical records that some of these people were this psychopathic? If not, then all this psycho stuff seems a bit unnecessary...(it seems especially distasteful thinking of the current political scene and the treatment of women...Nth room)

SPOILER . . . When the king arrived at his father's room in that fur coat (northern kingdom blabla), then it got very cringily GOTlike. Honestly, it was a bit disappointing to wait episodes for LSH's character to finally appear and then watch that table scene...Me thinking: How long is this gonna last? Should I skip cause I don't wanna watch it? Like how am I supposed to know how far they go and what they include before I watch it...yikes

Your typical kdrama would focus more on romance and comedic effects for those new to kdramas.

I’ve been watching kdrama since 2009, and this was refreshing to watch. I love the acting in this series. I’m just here to support my girl Jeon jong seo (saranghaeyo!).

So for those who haven’t watched it, are recommended to watch it if you don’t mind the mild sez scenes and nudity. (It’s not that much compared to Hollywood movies). Have a great day everyone, stay happy, stay positive. Peace out !

Btw knetz gave positive reactions about this drama. They focus more on their acting. The actors' acting and martial arts are so good.

Note: Why focus too much on s scenes, dontbwatch it if u under 21s.. It's just acting, not real. They all proffessional actor and actress doing their job under director directions..Lol

Plus, many historical k-dramas so far were pretty chill in terms of sexual content, so for a lot of us, this is new. And I'm saying this as someone with 130+ kdramas watched so far.

I'm very disappointed in the Queen Woo. It sadden me to see such talent actors and actress and how they are portrayed this K-drama.

Please focus on those elements that drawn me to this genre good writing, story telling and acting.

In the mean time, I'll continue watching Mr. Sunshine with Lee Byung Hun, Kim Tae Ri for the fourth time.

In the future please try and do better.

I was excited to watch it coz it has a long list of big names in the industry. I haven't watch ep. 3 and 4 and I know they will release the remaining 4 episodes in September. But I'm going to pause for now and watching something else first.

Anita Brown Aug 29 2024 1:07 pm I watch Korean entertainment for the modesty. Thrilling, action, comedy, romance, all without skin-ship or nudity. The best of great dramas were done without the cheap nude scenes. I'm very hurt and disappointed with Korea just after watching the first episode. Two examples of great dramas were War of Arrows for the great archery action, and My Venus for the great romance; My Beautiful Bride for excellent hand combat all were done without nudes, profanity, or skin-ship. I will continue to pray for Korea to return to the excellent quality I have enjoyed for years.
