Tae-Gu (Um Tae-Goo) is an ace member of a crime gang. He has a younger sister and a nephew. His younger sister is sick. Tae-Gu decides to leave the crime gang for his younger sister and nephew, but another crime gang targets Tae-Gu. His younger sister and nephew are killed in a car explosion caused by the other crime gang. Tae-Gu takes revenge on the person he believes is responsible. Tae-Gu then flees to Jeju Island. There, he meets Jae-Yeon (Jeon Yeo-Bin), who doesn't have much time left to live. They both feel sympathy for each other.

Notes

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, "Night in Paradise" will not be released in theaters and will have a straight to Netflix on April 9, 2021.

I heard a lot of people say that The chaser ending is disappointing and the movie is frustrating, for me it's not, that's how you execute a tragic ending, not like this! I thought this is the first 2020's korean movie that I will like a lot .... Seriously, All that just so they can use the gun skill of jae-yeon? Actually I was expecting they would use it along with tae-gu, but let's add some sprinkle of "revenge" cuz that's what k movies are known for, Revenge supposed to be satisfying if not, it will teach you a lesson that it is not worth it, none of these are shown on that, they want the audience to feel satisfaction, but who cares if that bastard is shot a hundred times after what happen and what will happen next.

I loved the main characters throughout the movie and I'm not even sad at that last scene.

thrillme Jun 28 2023 9:21 pm The one responsible for the script is a sadist. Tae Goo suffered enough and they just kept making it worse. It gets to the point where you want the villain to break the fourth wall and go after the director for making Tae Goo go through all that. The plot and gangster dialogue scenes go really long when they could've shaved off the extra 10 minutes. While the cast is good the script is floppy with an okay ending.

TomTom Sep 04 2021 4:07 pm (Spoiler Alert) OK, I expected this to be a noir-genre movie with lots of gore. But what about the female-lead being the mirror-image of the male-lead's niece, who got murdered? I thought there would be a some kind of redemption for Tae-gu because of that, but it ended up not being the case. So that plot was not necessary in my opinion.

Carl Sep 01 2021 9:35 pm Jeon Yeo Been is such a rare gem. After watching her in Vincenzo she sparked my interest to give this movie a try. However this movie is not really my cup of tea. The storyline is a bit dull and empty. It doesn't have much to offer other than the gruesome and bloody scenes but jeon yeo been did great in her role.

hola buenos dias Apr 26 2021 1:23 pm damn this movie is Amazing. i was on the edge of my seat the whole time, not gonna lie! all of the actors did a good job portraying their own characters. uhm tae goo got me simping over him throughout the movie bcs of his wholesome actions and dialogues. frankly speaking, i got intimidated by that car scene where he scolded jeon yeobeen. i'm totally satisfied with the ending bcs it do all of the characters justice (eventho the leads don't deserve that). thriller and gore totally wasn't my cup of tea but after watching this i think i'll watch more of them.

This movie was alright in the beginning but really took off at the end. At first I couldn't believe that the main character was murdered like that, such bs. Then the lady came in barrels blasting. Loved that!! Yay for her. She actually saved the movie from a scathing review.

MOVIE AND VINCENZO SPOILERS The release of this on netflix + Vincenzo ep 16 was very fitting. I loved seeing JYB and SJK ending both shows with top tier acting without needing to speak. Both last 10-15 minutes were SO good and coincidental i love it

Watch after my death as well!! And be melo!!
