Erika Shinohara (Fumi Nikaido) is a first year of high school student. While talking to friends, she makes up a story about her "boyfriend." In reality, Erika Shinohara doesn't have a boyfriend. Erika's friends soon begin to doubt her story and Erika is also running out of lies. Erika then sees a pretty boy on the street and takes his picture discreetly. She later shows his picture to her friends as her boyfriend. The boy in the picture is Kyouya Sata (Kento Yamazaki) and happens to attend the same school as Erika. She tells Kyouya about her situation and asks him to be her pretend boyfriend. Even though Kyouya has a pretty appearance, he has a dark side.

nerdy boy Apr 10 2020 1:56 am TBH mans has a weird fetish. Their hair kinda brassy and unattractive. Why all the girls have the same hair though- it's not working. Also, why is the main character such a simp?? She basically degraded herself to be a dog. Also, why didn't they cut some scenes because it was so awkward? When she lost her charm, she went through all the trash to find out that it wasn't even in the trash? #bruhmomento All her friends are so fake but kinda pretty. Does the dude even have friends? He's so popular but his only friend is his dog and cafe man who definitely deserves more screen time (he was much much hotter). Nerdy Guy Deserved Better Highkey! He is the most attractive but they did him wrong FRFR. Until next time.. BYE!

La Plume Mar 06 2017 3:50 am Okay, I haven't read the original material so my opinion is just based on the movie.

I'm all for teen romances and as a Korean Drama fan I tend to watch Japanese movies to get my fix because I think they're usually pretty good at this stuf... EXCEPT when they go with the tsundere type: It's always a hit or miss. Why the hell female mangaka and readers are into them, is beyond my understanding but I'm okay with giving them leeway since jerks are abound in romantic comedies, as long as they're brought down a peg or two,learn some modesty and to be considerate by the end of the story, I'm okay with them.

But there's absolutely nothing at all to redeem this movie. Why I get why the main girl started with a lie... How can anyone throw her self-esteem down the drain and accept to be called and treated like a dog? Even worse, she falls in love with a guy that treats her like an animal... That bodes very well for her future, I guess, she's prone to abusive relationships.

I could have gotten behind this story if at least there was a sense of balance in their relationship by the end of the movie but sadly not. No matter how you feel about it, the main heroine doesn't get any backbone by the end of it and still behaves and probably considers herself beneath her "black prince". It's like she feels he's doing her a favor by being with her.

As for him, what happens in his head is a mystery . I'd like to know how exactly anyone is supposed to fall in love with somebody who doesn't love herself (when that happened if also pretty unclear). We all have our shortcomings, but there's a limit to self-hate. Also his behavior is over the top and there's no rational explanation to help us get why he's such a poor excuse of a human being. Doesn't matter that he occasionally show some good points, there's just not enough good to balance the bad.

Overall, I won't blame the actors for such a poor excuse of a romance, they had to do with very bad writing and they could only do so much.

The movie is also too long... Given the fact that none of these characters evolved one bit through the course of this movie, an hour and a half would have been sufficient.

Only character I liked was Yuu Kusakabe, but obviously he was too kind to get the girl. I know jerks are great material for romance... to root for them there's a minimum required. I had the hardest time finishing this movie... and my last thought was that hopefully the girl's a teen, she's got time to learn how to choose to enter a healthy relationship instead of an abusive one. Waste of time.

If you're looking for a good Japanese teen romance, this is not.

Crazymovielover Dec 23 2016 1:28 am Liked the actors and actresses, liked the plot (didn't read manga or watch anime). But the pace of the movie is quite slow, I keep getting bored. AND WHATS WITH SO MANY LONG SHOTS? There was a scene in a restaurant and i cant find where the mains are sitting omg. And you cant see the expressions of the actor/actresses.... Other than this, overall, the movie is really great:)

ayeyeye Dec 03 2016 3:07 am it was okay... i read and watched the anime, and as always, it's diff the acting is what you'd expect from a japanese teenage romance movie. Kento's acting hasn't really changed, imo lol. I didn't find it special, but what made this movie really unenjoyable was the cinematography.. a lot of long, faraway stationary shots, and barely any close ups. It was uncomfortable to watch sometimes :/

marie Nov 09 2016 9:30 am Regardless that most people seemed to have been disappointed by the film, I actually enjoyed it. While I understand that reading the manga raises one's expectations on the actors or the plot, well, if we are to look at it on a different perspective, Fumi, Kento, and Mugi did a great job on their acting (from the viewpoint of someone who haven't read the manga).

I like the development of the story and even the cinematography (quite different from the usual romantic j-flicks). Some transitions and background music may have suffered from weak timing at times but, overall, I'll give it 3.5/5!

I like the plot of the whole story, it was very good. Kento acted so good but the main female lead didn't portrayed her character well and there were no chemistry between the Kento and Fumi.

I also hate the camera shot...especially the ending part. Im waiting for the close up take but it took so long and gave me boredom in that part. The background music too, they used English songs too much. Overall, the movie is good.

Ken Oct 18 2016 9:45 am The LA is far from the anime and manga. The actors are not in sync. I'm not sure if they really studied or if they were prepared for their roles at all. I got kind of confused about the story since they did a lot of tweaking but well they had to fit everything in 2 hrs so yeah. But then! The shots are terrible. Super long shot for intense dialogue? Really? They looked like ants! I think even university film students can give more justice to the manga. I must commend nanao tho. Not only is she beautiful but also her acting is on point! And the scene when kyouya was running on the side walk then he entered an alley and looked on every side... man! The feels! I love that shot. Yeah just that! Hehehe

Seriously, from a psychotic killer to a high school lovergirl, this girl is awesome! But there's not much chemistry between the leads and the story's kinda off. I agree with some of you, even the cinematography sucks but the setting is beautiful though. Looking at the school, it must be a private. Still the movie is plain... Boring.

OKAY as I like it's Anime and Manga is my recent most Favourite shoujo manga..Wolf Girl and Black Prince was My most awaited L.A. ..the wait of 10 months ended today.. here's what I got...!!!!

I know it's neither fair nor possible to fit in '60 chapters' story or even to cover 12 episodes(plus OVA) in just 2 hours' Movie it would have been much better if they just have made a drama adaptation instead.. Well, coming back to L.A. Many parts were not there and mixing of characters and bringing 1 to represent all of them make the L.A. quite complicated...

THOUGH THE CAST WAS DOUBTFUL FROM THE VERY BEGINNING

THE MAIN CAST WASN'T A PERFECT ROMANTIC MOVIE CAST...

Yet blunders in editing made things worse

Many characters were missing and Some characters who play major role(s) in Manga and have noticeable contributions in Anime are neglected a lot.. Sa-chan and Takeru are among them Sa-chan (Mugi-san) did justice with all the little time she got but Takeru (Ryusei-san) he doesn't even got that much time I didn't even remember that He was in that movie until I checked the cast again ( these are new to me..I haven't seen them before) Kusakabe-kun (Ryo-san) and Reita (Nanao-chan) it won't be wrong if I say these were the only two actors who lived up to the expectations... they were perfect and pulled the movie where acting is concerned... Now about the MAIN CAST KENTO YAMAZAKI AND FUMI NIKAIDO... it's My Fumi-san's 1st movie as I don't watch the Genre she works in but I have heard that she's Good.. And Kento-kun...well,if you watch Japanese movies /drama kento-kun isn't an unknown actor to you he's super popular and in demand actor... directors are rushing to sign him in their project(s) Resulting him being cast in so many that you start craving for New Faces (just Like Me) I AM NOT AGAINST HIM.... ACTUALLY I AM HIS HUGE FAN AFTER SEEING HIM AS L.LAWLEIT

KENTO-KUN is talented but I personally think he does Thriller/suspense roles better but he has been typed as "shoujo Romantic Hero"...

Returning to the movie and actors performance in it ... Fumi-san tried her best to adapt the character in which she succeeded to some extent still a jolly nature of Erika is missing kiritani Mirei-chan would have been better as she have that missing element in her acting and have done movies with kento-kun before furthermore, she's capable to hide kento-kun lack of romantic acting skills For Satacchi role MatsuJun and Yamapi comes in mind respectively not kento-kun they are Just the Perfect Romantic Hero..You can cast them against anyone they'll give you the Best out of it... maybe that's the reason I am still betting on them though it's quite illogical to cast them as student now... okay if I stop being a fangirl of these two.. Today, I think Yamada Ryosuke-kun is Best choice for Satacchi (blonde hair suits him too)

Needless to say I am greatly Disappointed with the Movie it falls short in many areas Much awaited Movie came with not much to appreciate..They should make another adaptation correcting all the errors and they shouldn't waste this Awesome manga like this... after all and all if you are Wolf Girl and black prince FAN like Me I know you'll watch it anyway...Wishes...!!!!!! and thank you for reading this far :)

And I love Fumi-chan and Kento-kun sooo much! They are damn good actors. The only thing bothered me is the zoom-out camera angle. Soredake.

Specially in the canteen, restourant and in the amusement park..thats were important moment but didnt catch up us in a good way!!!!. because we just can hear the actors conversation but CANT see their face or reaction! Stuuuuupid cameramen. Gehhh!

I love the manga and anime too..but very dissapointing with OSTKO live action. That's why i dont refomended this one to anyone. Trust me you cant enjoy this movie..but completely annoying after watch it. Trust meeeee lol

Omayamaya Sep 28 2016 9:43 am I'm extremely disappointed with this movie. The trailer was so hyped up but my God can't they do proper editing and all those camera work. Like the characters all of them are so all over the places. I read the damn manga and the anime is to live for but the live action I just can't it's totally a disaster. Good line up of cast and it just went down the drain. Well I must applaud for the fact they get me to watch it because I was fascinated by the trailer. The only AWESOME thing I can point out is the OSTs. Ohmai I love the songs they featured in the movie. They should do the remake. The whole aesthetic is there, the filter a little bit hipster-ish but I like it only the fact that the storyline is all over the place with such promising actors and hyped about trailer.

but..... i agree after watching this movie, with honest opinion. this is very disappointing adaptation manga live action so far. I watched LDK (yamaken also there), Ao Haru ride, kurosakikun nante, chihayafuru, others..they are far better than this.

The zoom out - in camera supeeeerrrrr anoyyyying!!, poor cinematography, event the background music was not fit the minutes it should appear, whole-fully technical things was horrible, including the script. kinda.. meh.. different with original story. is this low budget movies? It is looks like school projects movies.

The make up stylist and outfit for actors is also not ggod enough, yamaken looks not so healthy here, he looks so thin and pale, the lead female is super far from erikas Anime characters. Erika should be someone more cute and happy right??.The bad script also ruined the dramatic ending which we can seen it the manga. Poor my iamgination character the Hottiee Sata kyoya... sad sad..

This is far way from the anime and manga. not recomended.

For me the best japan manga live action were death note, nodame chantabile, and kurosakikun.

Cecilia Sep 25 2016 10:46 pm People really have no taste in music. The bg music in this live action was very fitting and portrayed the emotions well. Most Japanese movies have really dry OSTs that makes you loose interest in the actual plot because it doesn't go with the scenes at all but this was very well put together. If you saw the last scene when he was running to her and the flashback were going through his head, that song portrayed his realization really well! The only problem I had with this live action, was the camera angle. I get that the directors are experimenting with new ideas and being creative but those far shots took too long. They should've zoomed in for a close up way sooner but they stayed that way for the longest time and it felt odd and out of place. There are also some unnecessary scenes that took longer than expected but It didn't really bother me that much. For those people saying the main actress should've been Kiritani, I get it we're all going through Sukina... Withdrawals and I love shopping Kento and her but let's not forget this actress also works hard and she's actually really good actress. STOP BEING RUDE! Also, STOP complaining about Kento being in every live action, he's the Prince of Shoujo live actions for a reason. He's a good actor and he has the ability to play all types of characters without making people get tired of him. Either enjoy or GTFO! They know what they're doing!

I thought I was the only one who think this way. I actually put so much expectation to this movie because I just love love Kento so much♡ but I still enjoy the movie tho. It still makes me nervous when Erika started to tell the truth to her friends.

And the camera don't really have a sense on where to focus on the important moments, especially on the last part on the conversation near the garbage area. And they spend so much time on showing unnecessary scenes like when the girl is walking after she had taken care of sicked Sata-kun and the another long walk on the way to her bestfriend after being rejected by the male main character ( it should have least a very sad song on the background). But on the other hand, the characters are good and I think they gave justice on their roles. So, I think the main fault should be pass on the its production.

But what I feel is when Kento-kun kissed Mirei-san is more passionate. 4 times in sukina and 2 times in heroine as I remember. But overall is amazing. Kobe place is surabashii sugoii basho. Fumi Nikaido is good actress, I feel her crying.

I'm no offense for him being in so many manga adaptation movie because his acting was good. But for this movie i think the director just too forcing. Yamaken face not suit with golden hair colour and look him like that just weird. His face suit for character who have black hair or brown hair in manga. That's why he look so perfect in heroine shikkaku and orange. I think this movie will better if they cast actor who look good in golden hair. And not just think about movie will getting popular if yamaken in their movie.

But yojung character is really caring for his girlfriend and being bad for people who violate to his girlfriend and himself. To me yojung character more scarier than kyoya.

Let me explain (but first sorry for bad grammar), sure i really love manga and anime and i'm really addicted with sci-fi, supernatural, mystery genre (like Death Note). When come to romance, there's just a few, and they're Ao Haru Ride, Strobe Edge, Orange, L-DK, Your Lie in April, Heroine Shikkaku, including Wolf Girl and Black Prince too.

And... now my favourite manga turn into live action. BUT WHY, WHY, WHY ALL THE MALE MAIN CHARACTER PLAYED BY KENTO YAMAZAKI (excluding Ao Haru Ride & Strobe Edge ofcourse).

Yes, i'm mad. I'M MAD BECAUSE I WILL SURELY LOVE KENTO YAMAZAKI AND MY LITTLE POOR HEART WILL JUST HURT JUST BEING SEE HIS FACE. I can't handle this. I'm gonna pray to the Lord before watching Orange, Your Lie in April and this too.

DAMN YOU, KENTO YAMAZAKI, DAMN YOU. Wanna throw rock to you with the words 'i love you' so you can know how much it hurts loving you.

It seems that you love long enough to criticize actors in place to realize the most important thing: WOLF GIRL AND ARE BLACK PRINCE LIVE ACTION! Is not that should matter now? I mean, I do not know how many of you would have expected it seems even a miracle to get here (since there are so many anime and manga without a live action). Is not that should matter?
