Girl group "Pink Dolls" is always pushed into the background by other popular idols. When the girls release their new song "White" - a remake from unknown origins they become instant sensations.

The four members of "Pink Dolls" include Eun-Joo (Ham Eun-Jung), a former breakdancer, Jenny (Jin Se-Yun), a singer insecure with hitting high notes, A-Rang (Choi Ah-Ra), a singer addicted to plastic surgery, and Shin-Ji (May Doni Kim) who can't sing, but is good at rapping. As the group becomes more and more popular, jealousy and competitiveness increases as all the girls tries to become the lead singer. But, when a member becomes the lead singer that person falls victim to a horrible accident, one by one. Eun-Joo then realizes that the song "White" is cursed and she attempts to reveal the secret ...

Nice movie and horror is okay but the intrigue of the entertainment industry is more interesting. I've read and watched a number of real former trainees sharing accounts of their traumatic experience and this movie gives us a glimpse of that life before and behind the spotlight. Ageism, bullying, solicitation, harassment, abuse, etc. Kpop is not all bubblegum and pastel.

jin77 Oct 11 2020 4:37 am Asian style ghost movie making 101. Not much new to see here. This would have been a pretty enjoyable ghost-type horror movie even with the many, many tropes/cliches if the director hadn't gotten the idea that 'loud noises' (way too loud - speaker distortingly loud or that might have been the signal itself) and spooooky ghost faces appearing close to the camera were somehow scary. It's not. In this case it isn't even startling because it's so predictable and it happens so many times. It's way overdone and detracts from an otherwise interesting take on the old tired ghost story. If you can overlook these flaws there is something to see here. 7/10 if not for the annoying noises. 5.5/10 with.

The ghost was a backup dancer who wrote White to get famous and when the group she danced for found out they poured acid on her face to disfigure her so she wouldn't ever be famous, leading her to commit suicide by drinking bleach before killing the group in her vengance

Yandere.Angel Jun 13 2015 6:52 pm I absolutely love this movie! There are a lot of horror movies that aren't great, but this one made me scream and not able to sleep, which takes a lot to do with me.

For everyone who doesn't understand the ending ; the girl was originally the main of the group they were in (they were in the predebut stage, kinda like AKB48 which is why there were so many) and their concept was centered around the girl with white hair. Well, the other girls were jealous that she was the main because she was more humble and the opposite of them who just wanted fame. They bullied her relentlessly until she couldn't take it, so she commited suicide and cursed them in death, thus haunting the song and anyone who tried to take it from her. So when Pink Dolls begins acting the same way as the girls who would bully her, she killed them because they were bad people, and in turn killed everyone who was in on making the song into one of Pink Doll's songs, which is why at the end the backup vocalist was killed because she was unknowingly a part of the plan the managers and directors formed to take the song.

The Original white was a backup dancer ? and then there was another white ? i still am iffy bout it . but like i said overall this movie is great. The song is also great ! i sometimes get frightened when i listen to it and sing the lyrics thats how great they made this movie!!!! RECOMMEND !!!!! <3

The Karaoke machine selected White as the song, which reminded her that she performed the doubling for Jenny during the concert because of her insecurity with high notes. Therefore, she is next to die, and the curse is not over.

I love the song Eun Jung sings towards the end of the movie after she goes to the shrine type thing to honor that chicks death. as well as the song that the guy group sings at 14:47. I saw signs from the movie that said "Buttaluv" but when i searched it, the group didn't show so I'm still searching.

gadlaw Aug 13 2012 10:34 pm Just watched this movie on Netflix and I was not disappointed with the kpop and the horror aspects of the movie. I noticed one fellow who also commented mentioned that he was 'disturbed' by "the long crinkled hair sported by Hwang Woo Seul Hye" That's a silly, subjective and petulant thing to comment your dislike of. I did like the crimped wavy hair style, it was very nice and made the young lady stand out as apart from the rest of the young ladies involved in the business of cutthroat female idol singing.

To my thinking the Asian movie makers are very much better at putting out a scary and disturbing horror movie than they can make any longer in the West. Who would have thought that you could make a horror movie involving idol singers. Indeed. I'm glad that there a lot of Korean movies and television shows on Netflix to view since the quality is very good and I have yet to find something not interesting. Good movie if you like Asian horror.

Was the curse not broken because someone else started the fire so no one would know the suicide wrote the song? Also, is it shameful to work as a back up dancer? In America you are expected to work very hard in the business for a while, not just be a "package" like spice girls. They were talking about it like she had been dancing naked. I really liked the La La sister, she was the only real musician and had a lovely soulful voice. And some of the images were very original. Still, I expected more from Kim bros and if anyone can explain ending and plot I would be so very grateful.

All I'm gonna say is that I figured out the plot when reading the preview for this movie. The movie did what the preview said. Anyway, good movie. Better than some of the recent horror films that I have seen. Hope America does NOT make a remake and ruin the whole thing.

pingo Nov 01 2011 11:19 am It's understandable that the film is filled with the concept of Kpop idols and the overlay of horror. However this movie was a huge disappointment. From the beginning to the end, the plot is all over the place, the actors are terrible, and it gets too repetitive in scenes. Honestly, what were the directors thinking? Maybe the directors were trying to show the dark side of the music industry and the desperation of wanting to become an idol? But other then that, the direction that they chose did not compliment the story itself. Its as if they didn't know where else to go with the film and hastily bullsh*t their way to end. The film is pretty much predictable and cliche.

One advise for people who want to check the movie out, go ahead but prepare to waste your time.

The girl behind the wall watching the girl drink bleach is the main singer from the past band. She didn't care that the girl was sad/depressed and was trying to end her life, hence why the curse happened.

Ki Jun 12 2011 11:13 am "White" was a highly anticipated film for myself - K-pop meets horror film but also directed by two highly acclaimed indie/experimental film directors - the Kim brothers. With that said by the time movie ended I was pretty disappointed with the lackluster feel of the entire movie.

The horror film aspect was a complete disappointment, while a mystery element developed (what's the secret behind the "White" song & videotape?) seemed to work better & the pop music aspect left me wanting more. More singing and dancing etc.

Main actress Eun Jung (from T-ARA) gave a promising performance & I would like to watch more of her in future titles, but the other performers gave purposefully over-the-top performances which felt unwarranted. The long crinkled hair sported by Hwang Woo Seul Hye was plain disturbing.

A lot of my excitement came from finally watching the two well regarded experimental film directors - Kim Gok & Kim Sun direct something outside of the familiar indie low-budget territory. Surprisingly the Kim brothers didn't leave much of their experimental signature on the film until way later in the movie by which it was to little too late. Prior to the finale - the movie plodded along in typical horror movie aspects with run-of-the-mill scare tactics (sudden blast of shrill music/screams with a closeup of a scary white painted face etc). In hindsight "White" is a big tease with nothing to offer out of the ordinary (subconscious commentary on the K-Pop scene?)- if that was the film directors' ultimate goal then they hit it out of the ballpark, but I sure didn't want to pay 8 bucks to hear that.
