Oh Ye-Ji (Lim Soo-Hyang) is a ceramic artist. She dreams of finding ordinary happiness, but life throws her a twist when she falls in love with brothers Seo Hwan (Ji Soo) and Seo Jin (Ha Seok-Jin).

Seo Hwan is an architectural designer. He falls in love with Oh Ye-Ji at first sight, but his feelings puts him up against his older brother Seo Jin. Older brother Seo Jin is a race car driver. He became attracted to Oh Ye-Ji after he met her for the first time at his father's workshop. Meanwhile, Carry Jung (Hwang Seung-Un) is Seo Jin’s ex-girlfriend. Even though they broke up, she can't get over him.

Hfanz Jan 10 2023 4:39 am all the actors have worked hard, their acting is so good. im soo hyang when acting sad scene especially crying is always very good, thank goodness she won an award. She is the most suitable indeed for melodrama, really conveys the character of oh yeji.

if you don't like melodramas genre then this drama is not your taste so don't watch it

Seojin doesn't love other women after marrying Yeji.. In my opinion, the storyline in the last episodes is unrealistic and makes me uncomfortable

I don't speak Korean but i love his voice...This show made me cry more than once, wish it could of been happy tears at least. Kdrama's I have gotten use to having, what I call "wrong" endings.....they have all disappointed me, but life is disappointing at times, so makes sense to me to be mixed up and not have the fairy tale ending...but OH I WISH this one did. Kdrama leaves you hanging every time, wanting more. And I can't stop watching them.

some guy Jan 25 2021 8:11 pm The character Seo Hwan was creepy. I think they wanted him to be "sensitive", but he just creeped all over his brother's wife - definitely not cool. He was also a spoiled rich kid who felt sorry for himself. Really weird. The female characters were stronger than the male characters whether or not they were "good" or "bad".

The acting was definitely the highlight of the series. Excellent cast and their performances. But I also thought it was very well-written. The emotions were there, but the story also moved along at a solid pace. There was never a moment of filler. And every moment, even every character played a role in the greater narrative.

L Nov 08 2020 2:29 pm This is definitely for melodrama lovers who like emotional rollercoasters. 100% recommend! [SPOILERS from now on] It won't have the fairytale ending and involves so many emotions. This is my favourite drama from all three main actors/actress and an all time favourite. I have found many times that I sympathize with the second lead, but here I understand the writer's intentions. I love Oh Ye Ji's character. I think Im Soo Hyang did a great job portraing the emotions. Her character is at first innocent, vulnerable and warm. But when needed she's fierce, strong, patient and brave. I understand why she didn't want to stay with Seo Jin. Although he was facing problems, he disregarded all of the loneliness, sacrifices and heartache Ye Ji endured while waiting for 7 years just because of a rumour. He might have felt unconfident but don't forget that Ye Ji also had emotional toil too. It's unfair that she gets the blame from her husband soon as he returns and also from others such as the ex-girlfriend and mother in law, all who expects her to take it all. I feel like even if they didn't divorce, Seo Jin would've kept feeling doubtful and suspicious of Ye Ji and Hwan, who in turn will keep getting hurt from Seo Jin's actions and would've scarred each other's bond too. Ye Ji would always feel betrayed, lonely and unhappy thinking about all of this. I would have left too. I understand why she leant on Hwan. She just wanted someone comfortable who understood and talk to, even still lonely after her husband's return. And Seo Jin himself said many times that he's a selfish person and it resonated all the way throughout the drama. I feel for once sad for the main lead Hwan. He deserved a lot and shows that just because someone is young doesn't mean that they can't have deep emotions or find it easy to discard them. He deserved love from Ye Ji but she didn't understand him either because he saw a more able, matured and assertive man who made her feel sheltered at the beginning. I have a heavy heart at the end of the drama, but it's also very realistic and understandable. I am happy that Ye Ji has someone at the end beside her, she really deserves warmth and feeling of belongig that she so yearned for from her husband's family. I feel like she'll live a carefree life. As for Hwan although its sad for him, I feel he'll quickly heal and reunite with Ye Ji without romantic feelings. As for Seo Jin, he'll have a heavy heart but his busy life will distract him and make him a l more contained and softer person. Our lives will not always end in a happy note and it was demonstrated so well in this drama and I absolutely love it for that. ?

ica Nov 08 2020 1:43 pm i gave it a shot for 4 ep. i think there are a lot of conflict but very little background story to everything. rather than being mysterious and makes the audience curious it just makes you feel annoyed watching it. the characters espc oh ye ji is just hard to relate to for me. i know she's abused at home and all that but it doesn't look like it has any ground whatsoever. idk if i would continue the drama tho

Kooki Nov 06 2020 2:59 am Such a Melo. If you are not in for a melodrama, then this kdrama is not for you. I watched it until the end. Though not as catchy or addicting but realistic. Life is not all those happy moments or ending. It's a constant struggle to be happy and at peace with yourself and live with your decisions past or present. The cast did great acting-wise.

I love Im Soo Hyang as an actress, it's good to meet Ji Soo from this drama and Ha Seok Jin as he was appeared cameo in CLOY. Looking forward to their next project.

It was okay for me . But the only things that i didnt likes was im soo hyang's acting . I dont know, she wasnt that good . I knew she was disappointed and felt betrayed by seo jin . But she should be more understanding about seo jin's condition . Imagined being paralyzed and he tried so hard to walk again so that he could returned to his wife as normal as before . And then, on eps 12, she was really mad with seo jin when she knew that he stay with Carrie in US . Come on, he didnt cheat on her instead he just need someone right at that moment. He just accept Carrie to look after him without knowing shes the one who caused him to be like that. And Ye Ji didnt even appreaciate Seo Jin at all when he came to her grand opening workshop without using the wheelchair. He even willing to take steroid hormone so that he could stand in front of her on the very big day . She acted like shes the only one who is hurting

But it's high time kdrama script writers realize that it's neither compulsory or necessary for the two main leads to end up with each other.. One thing I'd always love Hollywood for.. This is just like the other ones( Itaewon Class, Born Again, Convenient Store, My first first love) and now this.

There is nothing not understandable about Jin's 7years of absence .. Yes.. He was selfish, but we all know he didn't cheat on his wife.. I know the writer was just trying to add things up but in real life, we need to learn to forgive each other and be understanding.

I mean, how did she go from Loving him so dearly that she did not only not register him as a missing or dead person, she also waited for him for 7 years.. How'd she go from that to being angry that he 'betrayed' her, when in reality he did not..

Also, Hwan is wrong.. You should not covet any one's wife.. ANYONE'S... But this is even his brother... Has he no shame? This series for me was great till the "you know what" happened..

I watched this because of Three of them.. Hopefully awaiting a better male lead for Ji Soo.. I wonder y they make him act this kinda( my first, first love was also like this).

I beared with every scene except those with Hwan and Ye Jin.. It was nice to see Ha Seok Jin after a long while..

I felt like just watching the last minute of ep 16 and end it.. But I endured.. Anyho.. Good job to the actors again.. ON to my next kdrama.. Lol

Ambar farhat Oct 17 2020 11:21 pm (SOILERS!) Most people are critisizing the show but failed to understand its message. These days skinship, physical attraction and lust are taken as love so people actually failed to see the beauty of the show. Jin never actually loved Yeji for who she was but fell for her beauty instead. And Hwan never loved her for her beauty but for the person she was. So Hwan always focused on her well being and happiness and was able to sacrifice because he never expected anything in return. The end is a sad end but a real one. Ye Ji and Hwan truely love eachother so they don't need to stay together for that but inside they know they love eachother that's enough to carry on with life. Hwan's painful love will be more hopeful now. Ye ji has no other choice but to leave for good. If she stayed she will keep regretting her decision of marrying Jin and not waiting for Hwan. It's hard for her to accept the fact how she prioritized choosing a family over Hwan. Jin is also weak enough to accept Ye ji and Hwan. His character was such that he didn't redeemed until the end. So the end was a better one and hopeful. Someday Hwan will surely make it to her to make sure she is still happy and may be she will then decide to stay longer with him when circumstances changes.

FRUSTRATED Oct 17 2020 12:49 am Seo Jin’s mistake to Ye Ji was not intentional. Seo Jin have come to the point of giving up car racing but it was Ye Ji who convinced him not to give up. Seo Jin deserves a second chance. I hate the flow of the story that Ye Ji admits her love to Hwan when the episodes were almost complete

I wished they had made it so that Jin had the opportunity to redeem himself and Hwan realised how unbelievable he was obsessing over Yeji. Yeji herself made it so obvious that she had feelings for Hwan also and yet was mad at Jin for what he did. I don't support what Jin did but, the man nearly died and considering he was already an emotional wreck, no wonder he made poor decisions like he did. When someone's mental health is affected you can't even imagine what they can do and for that reason, Yeji should have understood and forgiven him. The drama seemed to have an addressing mental health, betrayal, forgiveness, healing, and love. However, unfortunately they didn't do a great job...

It was so frustrating to watch and they tried to make sense of him going after his brothers wife for years even when he was missing. And when the brother confronts them they act all innocent like they don’t know what he is talking about. I really hate how they tried to make it seem like a big love story between them and make Jisoo seem like a good guy when he was not. It would’ve been better to make him more evil then this whole innocent act. Jisoo and the brothers wife took the first chance they had to justify leaving him and owning up to their feelings. They could’ve made the drama much better but this was just disappointing

U might see Hwan interfere but you need to understand in the beginning that Hwan and Yeji knows each other first. Thus, they have stronger relationships. Hwan make his brother Jin promise him to make her happy. So when a series of misfortunes happens, Hwan wanted to execute the promise he and Jin made. The drama is about first love which will not have happy ending. thats all

Rex Oct 15 2020 10:27 pm SPOILERS! I don't usually enjoy melodramas in particular but this one I have to give this a thumbs up. Everything in the drama is beautiful (ironic, the title fits) the cinematography, OST music, the cast, the writing etc. When people heard this drama and saw the plot they automatically assume that the main female will dump one brother for the other. I can say while watching this series and finally finishing it to let people know to definitely not assume how the ending will turn out. The drama was so damn sad and I feel kind of glad it ended though at the same time feel empty now. They did a good job with casting Im Soo Hyang, Ji Soo, and Ha Seok Jin are ridiculously talented actors and portrayed their characters well. Anyways I agree with Yoggie's comment - it is spot on accurate. This is exactly what I think the writers and producers were going far and they did a very good job in executing it well.

I cried the fact that their love was real but they need to take different path. Most first loves are the most unforgettable and painful. My tears were justified by their choices. This is exactly what love is. The casts are really good portraying this drama.

We love and hate them at the same time while thinking how their fate could collided at the same place. Seo Hwan's warmness and his unlogic persistent love. Ye Ji's desperation and her longing for affection. Seo Jin's guilt, inferiority and his miserable love to Ye Ji. Father's warm love and genteness. Carrie's obsession. Ye Ji's mother's sacrifice. In reality, there's person like Ye Ji whose obsession of acceptance brings her to troubles. Or people like Hwan who cant free himself from his first love story, being haunted for the rest of his life. Or people like Jin who cannot express his feeling properly due to his guilt. We hate them for being so, because in fact, we can see these pathetic stories around us. That's why we say, "what a drama". At least, the writer gives us a character of father Seo, who finally lives in peace after embracing all the tragedy with a big heart : this message was bold and warm. If Seo's family is real, they must be very grateful for their father's role model and they'll find happy endings too. I cant believe a rom-com fans like me can finally finish this heavy melodrama. Thank you for writer, director, actors, crew for all of your hard work. Thank you for beautiful scenery and soundtracks too.

Len Oct 15 2020 4:36 pm (SPOILERS) After watching final drama episode 31/32, I am satisfied with the ending although everybody go apart to different ways. It's better being apart than Ye Jin end up with Hwan. I understand why Ye Jin wants divorce from Jin because she had lost him for 7 yrs. She was unaware of her love for him lost while she was waiting for him. That is why we always said marriage is a constant work. You need to be there with your better half. Thank you for the writer and director to make the final morally acceptable.

S Oct 15 2020 4:06 pm It seems to me that Ye Ji liked Hwan from the beginning, but was afraid to admit that due to their relationship as a teacher and a student. She also said in the drama that she was strongly yearning to have a family. I can understand why she chose to marry Jin. None of the characters in this drama was perfect, and I think that's what made it feel more real. Morever, despite everything that happend, the characters had strong moral conscience and chose to do the right thing despite what they might have felt. Seeing how it ended between Ye Ji and Hwan, though this is not your typical kdrama ending, I was extremely impressed of how mature they chose to be in the end and that they didn't only think of themselves. I think the message of this drama was that love is not only about physical intimacy, but about patience, honesty, sacrifice, and selflessness. It was this love that made the characters grow.

When you in love with someone,sure you don't expect everything to go so smooth without a sour part.love is forgiving, understanding and tolerating.if I said I love you and I swore not to ever forgive you, trust me,I never loved you. Ye jin is so so disappointing,she can continue things with jin even with hwan still in the picture.All she was supposed to do all along is set a boundary between herself and hwan,cause hwan was really over doing.

Unfortunately, halfway through it, I started to loose interest especially when Hwan's obsession for Ye ji went to another level of just too much. I hoped Ye ji got back together with Jin. An opportunity for the writers to provide us with a drama that showed betrayal, healing, forgiveness and love at the end. So disappointed with the ending. I just saw some bits of it haven't even watched episode 15 and I'm not sure I'll watch it and the final episode. Not impressed at all!

At the start FL(Yeji) hates her mother for becoming a murderer because of another man and at the end she lives with her because she misunderstood her between this period she stays with her aunt who is abusive and escapes it by marrying a guy(Jin) whose brother(Hwan) is obsessed with her as she was the first person who repayed his kindness with flowers. This story gets twisted with the news of husband's accidental death when FL was being tortured by Mother in Law and the short trip of the younger brother for the emotional support to her grieving without his family's knowledge . After 7 years the husband, who was believed to be dead because of an accident, returned alive in a weak, unstable, and handicapped state that breaks FL into tears. Husband asks for divorce because of FL lie about her trip with the bother in law and the fear of becoming like his father. But the Husband & FL strive hard to keep their marriage despite their Scandals, Exes, and lies but FL lost it when she hears about his stay with his Ex gf after the accident for his recovery because he is afraid to show his weak side to the loved ones and the family. From this point the show already ended as she compares the actions of her husband with his brother when he was believed to be dead directly telling him. She never answered straight about her feelings for Hwan when he tries to move on and leans on him for everything happening in her life giving him hope for his love. This goes on and on twisting every episode as they expect us to guess where they are leading. In the end, the husband divorces her as she wanted him to let her go and says that he trusts her not getting together with his brother but he doesn't trust his brother as she was his first love. She confesses that she loved his brother but not as in being together love. The brother goes on a trip with the FL for once to speak their hearts as a couple and at the end FL leaves while he is sleeping, leaving him a photograph of both of them at the beach. FL stays with her mother in the end leaving the in law's family. There are so many things I don't understand in this drama like the obsession of the ex gf for almost a decade and it's sudden end and the younger brother checking only the dead bodies when his brother's body wasn't found and The other thing is the younger brother never sees/addresses FL as the sister in law after she marries his brother with his blessings not even once, as if he wants her to see him as a man and not Brother in law. I don't understand the divorce when she understands that even though her husband stayed with his ex gf he had no feelings for her despite her nursing through 7 years for him. In the end I can't help but ask when was she the most beautiful ? Before marriage, after marriage, after divorce or with Jin, with hwan, with neither of them. Hated characters to the end - MIL, aunt, ex gf, Loved characters to the end - Amber, FIL, Hated at the end - Hwan, Yeji, Loved at the end - Jin, Yeji's Mother Positives - Beautiful locations, Cast and their acting Negatives - Story, tooooooo much melodrama This drama is an emotional rollercoaster.

Though for dramatic reasons, villains must be villains, like Seo Hwan's Mom and Carrie Jung. And also put Ji Soo as a sadboy, again. Well, all characters in this drama were actually pathetic. I feel so sorry that they all met such tragic fate. I still hope that everyone will finally find their happy endings within 2 episodes left. However, I love this drama because it shows us many spectrums of emotions from the main characters, tormenting the viewers in a love and hate state to the point that we cant decide who to blame. Its not the best drama story, anyway, but its sure leaving such deep impression to us.

PS : If Seo Hwan will finally be with Ye Ji, I ship Seo Jin with his secretary. He seems so true and calm with her beside him (◔‿◔) ( ╹▽╹ ) ... Haha...forgive my crazy thought.

Its shocking to see how the writers put such a plot twist in this drama by making the female lead eventually fall in love with her husband's brother and both end up together. I am not saying that what her husband did was right and I am definitely all for her leaving him. However, I do not agree with Ye Ji and Hwan ending up together... Personally, I think that it is morally wrong for them to be together...just my personal opinion.

Hwan gave up his love for Ye Ji for her happiness so he gave up his pursuit to his brother and Ye Ji wasted her youth waiting for Jin who wouldn't have came back if it wasn't for his mom dragging him back. Jin had no right to begin with when he said that Hwan's love was puppy love. Just cause someone is young, does not mean they don't know what love is. He may seem obsessed to most bit all he ever wanted was for Ye Ji to be happy. He is the most selfless in the drama. No one cares about his feelings and it's sad. No one ever considers what he had gone through over the years other than Ye Ji. Both care for one another. Ye Ji just wanted a family, I don't think it was exactly love either when she married Jin. It's just complicated. But if Hwan wasn't so young back then, she would've given him a chance too. Jin rushed to marry her. It was a mistake.. They should've dated for a while first. She was also young.

I am watching this to see how the crazy plots will finally end. It is curiosity over the script, not that I like it. All the characters are sick emotionally except perhaps the father of Hwan and Jin who shows more sensibility... and of course, despite her pushy character, she is most normal and a relief in an otherwise stressful drama.

She is still young, bright future ahead of her. I don't know if their marriage could be fixed. Unless, she forgave him and he is able to walk again. Off course, it doesn't make sense if she dates Hwan now. It will be weird after she married his brother. She could forgive, find a new love, new man and start a new life outside this family.

Liz Sep 29 2020 9:33 am Just finished watching episode 11 and wow. Ye Ji, to me, seems like she's trying to make the best of her decision to marry Jin. However, Jin cheated on her for 7 years with Carry so I'm wondering how Ye Ji will react to that news.

What Jin did was such a deep betrayal and he had the nerve to interrogate Ye Ji and Hwan knowing what he had done for the past 7 years. Like it wasn't a week or a couple of months...this man had his wife stuck in limbo for 7 long years.

How can Ye Ji look past that fact?

It's sad overall because I do feel like if Hwan was older and not her student, she would've fallen for him. There were moments early on where i was wondering why the school didn't suspect anything between Ye Ji and Hwan since they were spending a lot of time together...especially that bike ride.

Still Hwan and Ye Ji never crossed the line, mostly Ye Ji cause Hwan tried it...but Jin was with his ex for 7 years.

Also, I believe Carry and Ki Seok had something to do with Jin's accident.

I know Hwan truly loves Ye Ji and I believe she feels something for Hwan too and is lying to herself; but I think she should just leave that family. I don't see how they would spin the plot to make it okay for YJ to be with Hwan -- she was married to Jin and that would be awkward.

Sticking her with her ex-boyfriend Seung Min would seem like the easy way out. Her staying with Jin...I hope that's not how it ends. He clearly said he married her not for love but because he's a selfish man.

I can see the story ending with her being older, single maybe, and telling the story to a friend or her grand-kids or something like that.

Looking forward to the upcoming episodes.

Hwan’s love, no matter how sincere, is bothersome. Somethings are not just for you. He is a truly genuine person with good intentions, but he needs to know his boundaries. I love him and Amber together, and she was right, he needs to chill a bit. Jin is selfish and he never denied it right from the beginning. I think he loves his wife tremendously but his baggages from the past always get the best of him. He refuses to confront his brokenness, but rather resorts to withdrawing, thus his disappearance for 7 years. I hope he heals and I hope he will realize how much Ye Jin struggled for him and how she stayed despite of. I want their marriage to work. Yejin, I just love her. She seems vulnerable yet she is strong inside. Kind but not weak. Loving but she knows what she deserves. And most of all I love how she waited...7 long years. She lost her confidence and sadness. I understand Seo Jin is going through. This movie is not only about love story, it is more than that. Life is hard and you need to be strong to go through it. While Ye Ji waited her husband for 7 yrs and ppl around her keep pressure her. She still believes and stay strong. I am enjoying her character. Hopefully her husband overcome all the hardship

After they have developed mutual feelings its likely now that Hwan would refuse to back off for the second time. He lost her once he definitely would not want to lose her again. Jin never acknowledged Hwan's feelings. Hwan warned Jin not to run away like he always did. But still he hid himself for 7 years whatever the reason be. Hwan's reaction is normal. This show is really deep..not your regular k drama. The dialogues have double meanings. The characterization and relationships is also complex and twisted...good show ad plot altogether.

But when he looked at Hwan he a saw a kid with no real worries in life and knew what he wanted his future to look like. And reckless Jin wanted that. Any of it. I wonder if a part of him also blames Hwan for their father's accident. Like, maybe if he was older or wasn't there, then their dad would not have had to sacrifice himself. Doesn't logically me sense, but when has Jin been logical? I think Jin hoped Ye-ji would be water to his flamed and tame him down. But after getting married realized that he was actually oil which does not mix with water and that's why he never returned.

A 2 day old child could be 2 years old in Korean system. Then on March 1st everyone who just turned 8 weeks before goes to first grade. You could be 6 or 7 in the west. High school teachers and students are a Big No. Also graduation takes place within 2-4 weeks of the lunar new year. So you just turned 20 then you start college in March as well or do military service right away. But you are just 18 or 19 in western age. It’s about an uneven relationship.

I also like the role of Younger Brother and it brings back lot of memories of School days... Really looking forward to forthcoming episodes. Love from India !! ♥️

Rang Aug 28 2020 1:59 am I liked this drama. It has a different kind of romance. Most likely JS and ISH will end up together after whatever takes place in between. Nevertheless, I liked how they made the romantic scenes almost equal for each sides. I'm surprised by HSJ though, I already saw a few of his roles. I think he suited this character well and his chemistry with ISH for the first few episodes was great. It could be they purposely showed that unlike most where you can definitely sense it's going to be a one-sided love for the second male lead. The latest teaser showed a wedding scene so maybe HSJ and ISJ is actually going to be to married for a while before the real drama starts.

This drama has too much drama for me to handle. It’s really hard watching Ji Soo character get hurt and not get the girl awww poor baby. I’m going to stop and watch it when it’s like episode 10.

She went to him only because of what the king did. She wasn't in love with him in anyways. She always thought of him as a close friend and she made sure to let him know of that. She never hided from him she still loved the king. She married him to survive and as he also said, it was just a formality. So, he didn't get the girl. 'To get the girl' implies she falls in love with him and ends up being with him because of that, and in that case she didn't.

may Aug 27 2020 8:03 pm @Elena, My First First Love I don't even count as a drama because it didn't felt like one, neither of the 2 seasons. if felt like an american series and I didn't like it at all. it was just a Netflix production. every since Netflix saw dramas were a trend, they started trying to produce them but they just mess everything up. I don't like any of their productions. but the ones they get rights to put on their sites are good, though! I hope in this drama he's gonna get the girl because it feels like his brother will be the one, not to mention that in the cover they suggest us that.

It's just weird how fast these two brothers fell into the same girl. I just think there must be a reason why Seo Jin decided to date Ye Ji even though he knew that his brother had the same feeling. Also, the existence of a family member who hates the female lead unreasonably is quite annoying. Its not that I hate it, but maybe because my expectation is very high... Is it possible that someone die at the end of the story since it's melodrama? Still long way to go anyway... Brace yourself >.<
