"Welcome to Waikiki Season 2" depicts the friendships, love and dreams of young people.

Lee Joon-Ki (Lee Yi-Kyung) is an unpopular actor. He runs the guest house Waikiki, but the guest house is facing bankruptcy. To revive the guest house, Lee Joon-Ki drags his friends Cha Woo-Sik (Kim Sun-Ho) and Kook Ki-Bong (Shin Hyun-Soo), who all graduated from the same high school, to invest in the guest house.

Cha Woo-Sik is a picky person and he wants to become a singer. Due to Lee Joon-Ki, he puts all his money into Waikiki. Kook Ki-Bong used to be a promising baseball player, but he now plays in the minor leagues. Due to Lee Joon-Ki, he also puts all his money into Waikiki. Along with these 3 men, Han Soo-Yeon (Mun Ka-Young), Kim Jung-Eun (Ahn So-Hee) and Cha Yoo-Ri (Kim Ye-Won) all begin to live at Waikiki.

few months, I watched it to give it a try. It was also worth watching.

don't watch s2 right after watching s1.

I am familiar both casts in s1 and s2, so for me, I also agree that they're both equally hilarious.

I also recommend Sound of your heart s1 if u're looking for comedy.

akira Jun 30 2024 10:00 am I liked season 1. And season 2 was equally hilarious. Although it doesn't continue with the storyline of S1, it's still worth watching. I'm not sure why there are hate comments about a comedy series. It's a fun binge-watch with some pizza and beer.

Park Min May 26 2024 5:07 pm Season 1 The drama did a great job in blending humor and heart, creating an enjoyable mix with a lively dynamic, for the most part. The comedy was sharp and varied, ranging from slapstick to witty banter, however, this didn't apply for every segment and joke. Some of these went on for too long or weren't interesting in the slightest, these were also more present in the 2nd half than the first one. Nonetheless, not only the drama had great humor but also had a progressing story that fit right in. The dynamic chemistry among the cast enhanced the comedic timing, while the well-paced storyline balanced these moments with memorable scenes. Speaking of dynamics, Doo Shik remained a sidekick and a third wheel in every situation and scene, he was never a lead and always the weakest link, even the actor himself. The drama should've wrote him better to fit the dynamic rather than having a wasted slot. Anyway, it's an enjoyable fun watch for what it had to offer. However, I highly advise against watching season 2.

Season 2 In comparison, season 2 was a complete utter failure in all regards, however, as a stand alone drama, it was a passable cheap inoffensive forgettable watch, for the most part. It failed miserably to capture the same magic that made the first season so endearing. The second season felt like a pale imitation, struggling to find its footing. One major issue was the lack of continuity in the cast, with many beloved characters and dynamics from the first season absent with no worthy replacements. This shift disrupted the chemistry and dynamic that were crucial to the show's initial charm. The new characters, while sometimes amusing, didn't bring the same level of depth, humor and relatability, resulting in a series of forced and often flat comedic moments. Speaking of comedy, the writing in season 2 leaned heavily on repetitive gags and clichéd scenarios, lacking the creativity and originality that kept the first season fresh and engaging. Not to mention its poor job in recycling some of the gags and scenarios, as well as most of the romances and its archetypes from season 1. Seriously shameful! The brief storylines were disjointed, and the emotional moments that once balanced the humor now came across as contrived and artificial. The romantic relationships, while they never were the main focus, were really stupid and tasteless. The pacing also suffered, with episodes dragging without the slightest engaging interplay of humor and character moments that previously defined the show. Second season tried to replicate the success of its predecessor but fell quite short, the charm, wit, and warmth that made the first season a hit were noticeably missing. I highly advise watching S1 and ignoring S2.

I know this is season 2 but why joongki is also in the season 2 while the other cast of season 1 are missing? Very unfair really unfair , honestly i didn't watch this series because im really pissed OFF , It's Unfair, I'm happy when i saw the season 2 i played it and stop I'm thinking why joongki has a different friends in waikiki Guesshouse how about my favorite cast Dong Gu , Yoona, So jean, Do shik and Suha , I love joongki to but i hate the fact that he has a new circle of friends and new lovelife...

Nik Oct 03 2023 5:31 pm Just finished Waikiki 2. I can't understand some comments here. Neither those about the drama itself, nor the ones about Jun-ki. The drama is entertaining, it just contains the usual components, but it was fun to watch. For me was a lot of fun and silliness. I watched it because I finished Waikiki 1 right before, then I saw that Kim Seon-ho is one of the actors and liked it even more. I can't even name a character that I actually hate, it was fun to watch every actor/actress play :) If I actually don't like something, then it would be the "facts" at the end of the drama, I can not relate to them. I don't spoil anything be writing this: Jun-ki is a fantastic actor, it is weird that he never gets big or successful roles. But that probably is part of the "bad luck" theme that was also in Waikiki 1. And this also means: I I-kyeong is a fantastic actor :)

Wai Sep 17 2023 12:20 pm We were so excited to watch this season 2 since we thought that the characters in season 1 are still there, but as we watched it only joon-ki is the orig cast appears and it seems that the other original cast replace by another and it has the same scenario, episode1 from season1 is just also the same scenario from episode 1 season 2. I think it much better if season 2 will be just a continuation of the season 1 same character but theres a development each castcast hope you got my point. Or let say yeah a different characters with a different story /another story from waikiki resort.

But this season 2 was just ike season 1 with a replaced casts! Only joon-ki left!

KST Oct 27 2022 12:29 am I finished watched this series yesterday. This drama was good but not that much entertainaing like season 2. In this season I like to the character Ki bong. I love his foolish nature than even Lee joon ki's character. Anyhow when compare to the first season , season 2 is a bit boring. Anyhow not a bad drama.

AAA Oct 04 2022 2:31 pm Watching this second season right now at Episode 14, but I watched it right after the first season. Big mistake.

It's not bad by any means, it was just more of the same to the point that entire plot points were repeated from the first season. While it was funny at times, it was noticeably less funny than the first season. Even the first season characters were more enjoyable, including Lee Joon-Ki.

It was frustrating and dragging to watch, and I wish I hadn't seen it right after I finished the first season. I believe I would have enjoyed it more had I not had the first season so fresh in my head.

And the female leads are all irritating to a degree (not bad actors, just irritating characters). The male leads carried this season all the way.

sena Apr 21 2022 4:40 am Watch this one first because of you-know-who, but end up loving lee jun ki more. Can't stop laughing even I had rewatch it like ten times. I see the extra cast list above and it cracks me up more. Other than woosik n sooyeon loveline, everything else is entertaining. Even my nonkoreanfan friends really love this drama. Try to watch the first season but cannot move from episode 1.5, frustrated by the 1st lead. To those who hesitate to watch season 2 first, don't be.

Especially with the first event being the female lead runs away from her wedding and meets the guys who loved her in high school again. It's so Rachel n Ross. Some scenes are actually funny, although many are taken from other scenes from dramas/movies. But the guy who laughs funny still cracks me up. "Hyuhyuhyuhyuh" Anyway, they run a guest house, but how come they almost never runs it?

But after watched season 2, i really love it and more funny, more interesting and they all adorable. I really love both seasons. I really love kim seon ho and moon ga young. But i prefer and more excited to see lovelines between Gi Bong and Yoo Ri Noona. I love how innocent and nice Gi Bong and how charming and cool noona. They are suited with each other. Everyone had their own problems. And i loved how they support each other in this drama. I need Season 3 please. and keep Joon Ki in the drama too. He make my life more brighten. Congrats..

Strawberry Shortcake Dec 27 2020 5:33 am Actually it's funny. I get the humor and the theme but what I'm bothered about is that Jun Ki shows manipulative behavior and exploitation. His immaturity is beyond acceptable anymore and though it's funny in some scenes, his character i doesn't even have respect on people's boundaries. In episode 3, his ki bong didn't really want to be there, exposed in the cold weather but Jun Ki made him eat ice cream and used fans all over him. He also made Ki bong remove his clothes but he didn't even show empathy all he wanted was to be featured, not minding his friend's struggle out cold. His manipulative and guilt trip annoys me and uses words to make other people guilty for setting their boundaries especially when u sik asked him to leave the bath but he insisted and in u sik's defense, he threw soap bubbles at jun ki. He did that in the act defense when one person's boundaries was overstepped by someone without consent. His subconscious triggers anxiety hence defence mechanism and after that, Jun ki never apologized but used guilt trip to U sik using their friendship as the subject. In reality we hate these kind of people and we find it toxic. I know this is a comedy show but in real life, it's uncomfortable to associate with people like him. But well done to the director and script writer. As well as to the actors. They did the part and played it well.

Yes if looking for the comedy, season 1 wins. But season 2 has deeper story, not only about being funny, but it shows how they persue their dream. I cried when Lee Ki Yung cried begind the door in ep 13, yes he's truly the hero in this drama. This drama just reminds of Age of youth 1 and 2. Entertaining but still has a moral story behind it. And of couse, my eyes still cant get enough of Kim Seon Ho ^^

Ann Jun 04 2020 7:40 am I was hesitating to watch this because i don't find season 1 funny (yes, you read that right, pardon my taste but i don't think season 1 is funny and i found myself fast-forwarding a lot), and people keep saying this is less funny than the season 1, so it made me hesitate more. Then i finally started to watch and i was surprised that i actually like it. Yes, there are some unnecessary plot, esp in the beginning, but i found the jokes in this season is just right and the plot is more realistic (not too excessive just like in the season 1). I'm glad that i decided to watch this.

For those who still hesitate, just watch and see yourself. We may have different taste, some people may prefer season 1 or season 2, and that's okay. You can always stop or fast-forward it :)

The 2nd Season has Kim Seon Ho and his cute dimples, but as a whole, Season 1 was better and more consistently funny. Season 2 had more boring scenes/not funny scenes and I found myself fast-forwarding them whereas in Season 1, I didn't even press the fast forward button

Byeol_bbyong Jul 10 2019 3:56 am Can't help but compare it to Season 1 which I actually enjoyed too. At first I was hesitant to watch the second season because I thought it cannot top Season 1 BUT... Boy, was I wrong. Haha. I enjoyed Season 2 a lot more. I think it's the chemistry of the cast overall that made the difference. The stories are different but in a way still pretty much the same (depicting the struggles of normal adults as they find their place in this world), so I think it was really the cast that made Season 2 a lot more fun and comfortable to watch. :)

@oqeosisk Jun 25 2019 12:42 pm Just because you like S1 more doesn't make it better. S1 also had a lot of problems with its pacing, not to mention it included lots of unnecessary drama. The Doo Sik-Soo A couple in S1 didn't develop properly until the final 2-3 episodes, similar to how Wooshik-Sooyeon was developed here. Dong Gu - Yoona developed the fastest, similar to KI Bong-Yuri here (also just noticed Yoona and Yuri shares their name with SNSD members).

I prefer S2 over S1 because of the lack of unnecessary drama. It's a comedy, not a melodrama. If I want lots of drama I'd rather watch something else. This was fast-paced, short and funny, just as it was intended to be by the writers. Both S1 and S2 have their strengths and weaknesses, neither is better than the other. It's all subjective. The main problem I had with S1 was the unnecessary drama between Dong Gu and Yoona, whereas in S2 was the Wooshik x Sooyeon couple having little screentime as a couple.

Yes a S3 would be great, but it's unlikely.

@Jiehan, it's not a direct continuation of S1. Yes, Lee Yi Kyung (Junki) is here and lots of reference to S1 is present, but besides those it does not share the same continuity (for e.g in S1 it was noticed that Junki had been close friends with Dong Gu and Doo Shik for a long time but in this one it's with JungEun, Wooshik and Ki Bong). The reason the previous cast didn't appear was probably due to scheduling issues, creative differences. And in Son Seung Won and Jong Hyun's case, legal matter and health problems respectively.

They aren't like Hollywood couples who don't have problems acting together in a project event though they're broke up. Son Seung Won. DUI case, he's currently in prison. Kim Jung Hyun. Currently having health problem. Go Won Hee, she's KJH lil sis in previous season. The brother didn't appear so, it's not weird if she's also didn't. Lee Joo(?) She was paired with SSW in season 1. It's also not weird she didn't get casted in this season. I thought Gi Won Hee and Lee Joo could appear as cameos in S2. Because they're the safest actress. But apparently they didn't. Wish there will be season 3, but please! With the same casts. Don't change the actors.

Also why is there no explanation on what happened to the previous casts i mean like they should have explained why did Jun Ki break up with Seo Jin even though he promised Dong Gu in the 1st season of Waikiki that they would never break up. Also what exactly happened that makes Jun Ki has to re-run Waikiki with 'new friends' while back then in the 1st season they are already doing "fine"? Jun Ki is slowly becoming a well-known actor, Dong Gu becoming a movie producer and Du Shik as the script writer. Ahhhh seriously hope they will do better if there is a 3rd season. Still love waikiki though

oqeosisk May 25 2019 10:19 am stop denying it, the first welcome to waikiki was a lot better. it had more funny scenes and the storyline’s pace was just right (ex: donggu confessed to yoona way before. not nearing end. ) i think in a lot of dramas, couples end up together around ep 15 or worse, ep16 and that kind of thing shows no progress. Im not willing to watch a few eps where there’s no progress between the characters. But either way the season 2 is also funny. A lot of funny scenes too. I gotta admit the 1st season had more absurd scenes while this one had more realistic based. Both are good i guess. Either way, i still hope welcome to waikiki will have a season 3. Its a good series. Just appreciate the plot and setting.

Great As Stand Alone Season May 15 2019 11:31 pm If someone watches the second season first, they will find it good enough. But I have seen the first season and there were some laugh out loud moments in the first season. Really ROFL scenes.

Considering that second season was good enough, some jokes were quite similar, but they retain the quirkiness of the characters.

Shout out to Lee Ki Young, his Lee Joon Ki hasn't changed at all. It feels like Ki Young is Joon Ki in real life the way he portrays the character.

What makes me a little bit dissapointed is the story. it looks like a bit rush. it will be better if this season has 20 episodes. the portion of the romantic scenes seems like unfair, especially for junki and jung eun. there is no romantic scene between them but suddenly after 3 years they are dating ?

and me, as a whoosik-soo yeon shipper, they need more romantic scenes than kibong-yuri. arent they ( whoosik-soo yeon) are the main casts ?

The story from 1-6 episodes was boring, but start from ep 7, its funny. and at the last episode, the rebecca scene really makes me laugh so hard hahaha.

So the conclusion is, I need season 3 with fresh funny romantic story !

When season 1 had 5 writers. I sometimes got confused with what's the writers trying to show the viewers. With only 2 episodes left I wonder how they'll conclude all the stories. They better wrap the story nicely or I demand season 3! LOL. Well.. Back to basic. Everybody has definitely their own cup of tea when watching a drama series.

E May 07 2019 7:20 pm I've left a review that this season is so funny, but I also saw some ppl complaining on the female cast. I actually think the casting was perfect. Soo Yeon fits Woo Shik so well. Woo Shik is not the smartest guy, but he's definitely the smartest out of the 3 waikiki males (which makes it funnier) and soo yeon is the same. She's silly but she's also the most normal out of the 3. Their chemistry is good, amongst all of them, and their partner on the show. I also tend to dislike girlish actresses (There's only a few korean actresses I like) but moon ga young really strikes the balance nicely. She portrays a silly side mixed with being a normal side and it's not cheesy or overly done. It's just a nice balance that it becomes fun to watch. I've watched a lot of kdramas and I know not many actresses can do this, most would overly be girlish trying to play the rich dad daughter part or overdo the being silly part. Moon Ga Young was perfect for this role so I don't understand why ppl don't like her you are all weird. She did her role well and she was funny. But the funniest was obviously yu ri (woo shik's sister). She's a comedy genius

Better than S1 May 07 2019 6:15 am There I said it. I liked S1 tbh I'd say I really liked it even, but 20 episodes was far too long so it felt dragged on after 10th episode. I didn't feel that problem with this one so far. Also the male casts feel stronger this season, Sunho's character is far more likeable than Jonghyun's character IMO and I really like the naivete of Ki Bong. While I agree that S1 female felt stronger, I'm really like Yewon and Sohee's character here. Both project a strong image. Cannot wait for more. I;d highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a light hearted, fun time.

Seojin is a world-traveling journalist (her pic shows that she's in Paris) while Junki is struggling. His S1 friends are already successful and he managed the guesthouse alone and asked Wooshik and Kibong to invest.

So far i only have guesses, (SPOILER) joon ki broke up with seo jin after season 1 so im guessing after that his friendship with dong gu ended (cuz in season 1 dong gu promised that joon ki and seo jin breaks up their friendship will also be gone) assuming dong gu and yoon ah were still together, joon ki lost 3 of them (dong gu, seo jin, yoon ah and those 3 probs left the guesthouse in joon ki’s hands and worked on their dreams) but where’s doo shik and sua?? (Note: its kinda sad that last season’s cast wasn’t able to film in the new season apparently some of them are having personal issues. Kim jung hyun has backed out from his last drama due to health issues and he’s somewhat experiencing backlash for being “rude” to his co actress. Seing won (bong doo shik) is currently in jail for drunk driving. Im guessing the directors of this drama turned the story into what euchalala waikiki 2 that way because of the previous cast? Despite those issues i really miss the old cast. I got used to them and they showed really great chemistry with each other. They really showed themselves like a one real happy family. Also i dont really see many people mentioning this, its kinda funny how in season one they met a random single mom and let her stay in their guest hiuse forever. Its just funny because she suddenly popped up but then became a part of their family.) anyways i loved season 1 im still watching this season hopefully i get to see really good chemistry between the cast just like in season 1.

I like both seasons and am enjoying the season 2 so far so good. Yu Ri has proven her worth and her storyline with Ki Bong is the strongest relationship out of the 3. I think the female leads were more able to comeback but it would be kind of awkward to find other actors to be their partners...and kind of weird to just bring back one couple (Bacca and Junki). So I get why the writer choosed this way. I'm really sad that Seojin and Junki aren't together anymore :( but I'm surprised with Sohee, I think she's doing a good job!!

It's been a funny adventure so far. Cannot wait for more episodes. Although unlike S1, I hope this show doesn't run for 20 episodes but rather 14-16.

Sun-Ho, a fan of this guy ever since seeing him on Two Cops and still am. Love his role on this. He can be funny but rather act cool.

++ this season's premiere got higher ratings than Season 1 having 2.118 in the first episode. I know these casts will going to make the show better and funnier!

Shin Hyun-Soo (Kook Ki-Bong) did appear in the first season as the model with smelly feet. haha.

It's so funny and yeah I laugh my ass off with WW1!! Im on episode 9 and counting! I'm starting to love each characters. Lee Jun Ki would be the remaining cast from WW1 Lee Jun Ki is like Sheldon in Big Bang Theory, I mean if Lee Jun Ki's character is not in the story it will be boring. If you guys cant watch the 1 its okey however you will miss the story of WW1 because the story was outstanding. For me it resembles to HIMYM I mean who wouldnt love HIMYM right!?

Marwan Mar 16 2019 2:54 am I think it will not really be a sequel but will be another film of the same name like what happened to Dream High 2 vs season 1. I will definitely watch this but it is expected that the characters in this season are in no way connected to the characters in its prequel.

Sia Mar 13 2019 10:04 pm There's a possibility that the screenwriters must've had reached out for the other old cast to reprise their roles for this new season but all of them except for Lee Yi Kyung ended up turning down the offers thus leading to the writers to create a new storyline for this new season except for Lee Joon Ki's character who would still play an unsuccessful actor's role. To some of the commenters who are dissapointed with this whole new cast thing and concerned about how it would turn out to bedue to the changes, let's just see it as a new chapter of Waikiki show. Since WTW S1 was such a masterpiece, let's just leave it at that. Anticipate this new season as a new chapter and let's see what it would serve to us. Can't wait for it :)

They never run out of ideas on how to make us laugh. It is up to the casts on how will they deliver those scenes and I have good faith to them.

For the new casts, I'm quite surprised that Kim Sunho is top billed and not Lee Yikyung. The picture above, Naver and jTBC IG states that Sunho is top billed followed by Yikyung. I'm very excited to see him again.

It's interesting for Shin Hyunsoo to be cast as a different character not of what he camoed in the 1st season as Philip. Maybe Kibong, a former baseball player decided to become a model as a part-time as Philip. lol.

I read an article that Yikyung mentioned in his interview that he took a long time to decide that he'll reprise his role as Lee Junki. He is afraid that he might be typecasted as a comic character. It may also be applied to the former casts especially to Jung Insun (Han Yoona) that she might be typecasted as a single mother even in her recent drama, 'Terius Behind Me', she portayed a single mother there.

I wonder if Go Wonhee will cameo there, we're not sure if Junki is still in a relationship with Seojin or this might be an alternate timeline if Junki is the CEO of Waikiki Guesthouse. Speaking of the guesthouse, is it the guesthouse from the former season that they will live in or it will be a new one cause he's the CEO there? Hmmm.

Moon Gayoung's character reminds me of Han Yoona, who's the guy that ditched her wedding day and why he did that (or vice versa). A parallel to Yoona and Sol to her 'father'.

I wish it is April so that I can watch it already! Gahh

BUT son seung wan's DUI scandal will make it difficult for him to appear in tv shows at least for now. kim jung hyun a few months back suffered a sleeping and eating disorder so even had to drop out of "Time" the drama he was leading with seohyun. i actually thought lee yi kyung was unlikely to appear as he i heard would star in a movie... but whatever. and kang han na.. im disappointed shes not going to appear but whatever

The other 2 male leads made cameo appearances in Season 1 so that makes sense to cast them. I’ve never seen So-Hee act so can’t comment on her acting but it appears that she will be LJK love interest?

And if you didn't watch the first season, you should definitely watch!!! It was so funny and romantic!! You'll definitely not regret if you watch^^ Exactly recommend!!^^
