On the day of her wedding, Yeon-Hee (Jang Seo-Hee) collapses. She is sent to the hospital where they diagnose her with uterine cancer. She must undergo surgery to remove her uterus. After the surgery, Yeon-Hee is unable to have children. Her marriage goes through rocky times. Yeon-Hee's mother-in-law demands that Yeon-Hee have a baby via a surrogate mother and Yeon-Hee acquiesces to her wishes. Her life goes through further turmoil.

After the death of her older brother, Hwa-Young's (Lee Chae-Young) family goes through financial ruin. She believes her older brother's death was caused by Yeon-Hee. Hwa-Young now supports her family, but she is dumped by her boyfriend, Byeong-Kook (Hwang Dong-Joo). Her ex-boyfriend marries Yeon-Hee who comes from a wealthy family. Hwa-Young decides to take revenge on Yeon-Hee.

Hwa-Young becomes the surrogate mother for Yeon-Hee, with plans to later take child away from her.

"Two Mothers" takes over the KBS2 Monday~Friday 19:50 time slot previously occupied by "Angel's Revenge" and followed by "Love & Secret" on November 10, 2014.
Kim Da-Hyun was offered a lead male role in the drama, but declined due to scheduling issues.

The one thing that bothered me the most is the unjustified stern conviction and sheer determination of the antagonist's drive to take revenge, of which, was never built up on any reasonable basis.

Kechi Dec 08 2021 6:04 am Stumbled upon it and loved it. The writer did a fantastic job showing the double standards of men and women in the society. When Jeong byeongguk cheats and everyone except Yeonhee finds out it's covered so no one knows it. Hee ha even tells Yeonhee that it's her fault that Yeonhee is abused both physically and emotionally. Hee ha even let's Hwa yeong stay with them because she bribed hee ha bad successfully seduced Jeong byeongguk. But when Yeonhee past was exposed all hell broke out. She was chased out of the house, had her child taken and divorced. You can say such things can't happen but it's happening in our society but it does happen

i actually finished this series Jul 01 2021 5:23 am spoiler so in conclusion yeonhee is the real mother, if i rmb correctly the doctor didn't change the egg which was requested by hwayoung. so they were deceived the whole time

Jinjoo May 08 2016 5:11 pm i highly recommend this drama, all the casts did an excellent job in their performances from child actor to the oldest! my fave charac is Yeon hee, just hate Lee chaeyung charac, i'm almost finished watching & i was completely hooked! one of those addictive kdramas for me! this will be my second time enjoying some kinda family drama with a touch of suspense since watching the old drama Yellow Boots! truly enjoyed this! i also was happy hyun woo sung was in this drama, i luvd him also in Yellow Boots or Ice Adonis drama! he's awesome!

tp Dec 16 2014 8:22 pm The only reason I watch this drama because of Hyun Woo-Sung. But so far up to eps. 24 he's no where to be seen/found. Can anyone tell me what episodes he's in so that I'll be able to just watch those episodes instead? So far this drama doesn't make sense at all. That was why I've skipped eps. 25-49 cuz I wouldn't want to waste my precious time to watch the unbearable stupidity. I'm never watching another drama by this writer....she wrote Ruby Ring too and that was a horrid mess also. The writers, producers, and KBS should be apologizing to the viewers. I want back the 60+ hours of my life I wasted watching this!

@전사 I don't know what the hell you was watching but it definitely wasn't the same drama the rest of us were. Beg HY for forgiveness? Please, HY is lucky someone didnt place a hit on her. How you totally didnt see HY was the gold digging whore who wanted to be rich and treat other people like they were beneath her is puzzling. No one did anything to her, she was delusional from the beginning and the only harm done to her was ultimately by her own hands.

RICH cruel, arrogant Baek & Jung/Kwak families get away with their venom & criminal activities. More vicious than Hwayeong, wicked Yeonhui should be #1: On her knees begging for forgiveness for not taking responsibility for Donghyeon's death & abandoning their baby and #2: In prison for manslaughter in Donghyeon's death. However, she continues her lavish lifestyle with spoiled , mommie's brat, Byeongkook. Pitiful depiction -hopefully not typical of class/caste discrimination- of bias towards the less fortunate who are probably the majority populace of South Korea.

It is so entertaining already and really want to know the ending, hope you will get back at mondays to fridays, this did not happen to eunhui the novel and angels revenge. There is already episode 77 and 78 in internet buat no english subtitle so its hard to understamd. You also removed man from the equator, high school love on. i dont watch dear cat and blade man, not a nice story for me, its violent. Please bring back two mothers on its right schedule. Thank you.

someone Sep 22 2014 9:13 am Okay, all the main characters are effin' annoying and I can't like any of them. First, we have Yeonhee, who annoys the crap out of me, with all her crying and lack of intelligence, only takes action when things get a very bad turn and Choi Sangdu, Lee Myeongeon and, sometimes, Yoo Seongbin are the ones who do pratically everything for her. Second, Lee Hwayoung who is mental and has become a psycho and we have no comment on that. Then we have Lee Byeongguk a.k.a mama's boy, who is annoyingly whinny, a jerkface and never takes the responsability for anything. His idiotic character is definitely the one I hate the most. And lastly we have Yoo Seongbin, who used to be the only sane character in the boat, but he's gotten useless and Jinwu, Sora, Chuja and everyone else seems to have more screentime and use than him. I won't even comment on the mother-in-law or Yeonhee's father, sheesh, act like the others are scums, but don't even take the time to look at the mirror.

But, I'll still keep up with the drama, because I want to know more about Hwayoung's child (who was such a cutie at the flashback) and about her past. To be honest, Yeonhee's parts are boring to watch, though her character is better than Hwayoung, who makes the whole drama interesting. Hwayoung's abuse of Jinwu has gotten boring as well, Byeongguk's family is even worse and the other parts are annoying. To be honest, I would skip the whole drama if I hadn't any curiosity on Hwayoung's past or how her revenge would turn out. The show is full of crazy and annoying characters, I only ended up feeling sympathy for the kids, Jinwoo and Sora. And maybe Hwayoung's kid. And the side love story of the uncle and the aunt is annoying and boring as hell.

But, I'd praise the cast, they're very good. And the actress who plays Hwayoung is very pretty and has a voice which is a little husky and low, it's different from others. The actor who plays Byeongguk gets annoying when he raises his voice, maybe it's done on purpose to highlight the mamasboyness of his character. I'd like to praise the child actors too. Especially Jinwoo. I'm pleased to know that Yeonhee has gotten custody of Jinwoo and that Hwayoung will get kicked out, so I hope she'd find her child, magically become nice and live without bothering other people. Yay. And I don't know about Sora to be honest, but I don't really want Chansik and Jinsuk together, they're sooo boring.

She has no care for the child otherwise she would have stopped her evilness seeing the child is mentally affected by their stupid games. Last night she threw the boy on the bed and literally threaten him so she can gain custody. No only that, she showed up at t he courthouse to make sure the boy sees her and changed his mind. Isn't that sick and pure evil to do to a small child. I wouldn't be surprised if the little boy grows up to be completely nuts. it's too much for a child to go through. producers of this show, are you guys for real.......

I don't know what Choi Sungdu's name is. He is HY's ex-boyfriend. He is good looking also. I wonder what happened to their baby? I wonder if HY gave the baby up for adoption or ???? I can't wait for BK and his mother to find out about her ex-boyfriend and their baby. Won't the mother be floored, thinking YH is so bad for lying to them. I have to say though, YH should have told BK in person about her ex-boyfriend and their baby, instead of writing a letter to him. And her father was an idiot to throw out the letter and re-write another one. He ruined everything for his daughter. But then - he shafted himself also by getting hung up on HY.

I feel so sorry for Jinwu - he is so stressed out from not being with his mother and all the confusion surrounding him. His dad and grandmother are no help to him at all and don't understand what the little boy is going through.

Rich mother in law from Hades with a face to match, check. Evil villain who lives for revenge against what she believes are slights against her and gets crazier by the day, check. Uninteresting side stories, check. All the makings of a typical Drama. Still, since the villain started with true intentions although they weren't based on what really happened it will be interesting to see where this goes

Why YH is a lead crier, and has not shown any intelligence in dealing with all her problems but with tears, BJ is one moron of a man that does not know what he feels or what he wants, while HY is one mean trashy lady that thinks her happiness lies in bringing others down. Of course the arrogant Mother in law of YH whose whole purpose of existence is JH and keeping the family line, allows this goal of hers to overshadow her sense of right and wrong. The writer of this drama should learn to balance his stories, if the name is known I will make effort avoid any future drama by this writer. The story is one sided. One should gain some inner satisfaction after watching a drama not feel sapped and disgusted..

It can't be jungwe since he's like 5 or 6 years old. this is really confusing now. So, miss grace lee had another man with a baby and how dare she keeps putting down yunhui and her past. what a shameful woman. can't wait to see her past reveal bit by bit hopefully it would put a stop to her filthy mind.

Fessie Jul 31 2014 5:05 pm Ji su won is a fashionable woman. She's paired with a non-fashioned sense guy which is kinda off but okay. I love watching Jisu and her wonderful dresses very different. I also love Jang Seo-hee's dresses, very pretty, feminine and just right for a working woman like her. On the other hand, Lee Chae Young's fashion is too gaudy, like she's going to a night club to seduce men instead of a working fashion in an office to do business. I guess she's just like her character, very trashy. I can't stand her and her arrogant behavior. Just because she feels she has the upper hand at this point but she is just missing the point, there's always and end to a story and hers' shouldn't be that pretty. If Korea puts people in jail for adultery, why has she not in jail yet. Why prolong this inhuman treatment of other people it's sickening to watch Ms. Grace Lee winning in every episode. evil wins in just about every freaking episode of everyKoreavtv drama I have ever watched in the past to the present. I believe there are other ways to treat evilness and just put them in their place from the beginning instead of letting them win every single time. I live in LA, Calfornia and I'm stupid enough to watch Korean dramas mainly because the actors are beautiful but sometimes their acting sucks, then it doesn't help when the script sucks too and yet, I still watch it anyway. Wish they make these dramas real instead

It's a shame because how can we allow this to become so easily displayed on the face of a child involved. These two cheaters are all over the place enjoying themselves on the expense of this innocent woman who has to go through believing all the lies her husband has to tell her, and the fake friendship this awful woman has to offer in a very fake manner. Hope she becomes strong and deal with the both of them cheaters and punish them to the full extent of the law. These two cheaters are too much and I'm on the verge of not watching this show anymore. It's just to ridiculous for them to be so heavenly happily while other people are suffering. Hope the good lady ends up with the most handsome Sobin who is the object of the chearter's sister's affection.

seble Jul 09 2014 8:21 am I love this movie. But what I don't get is why hwayoung had to be pregnant. She could have just beat up or blackmailed or tortured younhee in any kind of way. Also, don't you love hwayoung's voice. and her looks are not bad. why haven't I seen her in a movie before?

From reading and watching the first few episodes, I think Lee Hwa-Young isn't that bad. She feels more like another main lead? Instead of a evil side character. For me, I think Jung Byeong-Kook is the evil side character since he betrayed is girlfriend for greed.

sandriangem Jun 18 2014 9:55 pm I thought Yeon-Hee is pregnant before, when her father dragged her, what happen to the child? Did she got miscarriage? And I think the child that Hwa-Young referring as her little sister, I think that's her child from Byeong-Kook.

1415 Jun 14 2014 5:36 am Hwa-young believes that Yeon-hee, her brother's ex-girlfriend, drove him to his death. When the unhappily married Yeon-hee is diagnosed with uterine cancer, Hwa-young volunteers to become a surrogate mother for her, all the while planning her revenge. Hwa-young conceives and gives birth, lets Yeon-hee raise the child, then destroys Yeon-hee by taking the child back.
