Hakushu Kitahara (Nao Omori) is a genius poet and lives his life with reckless abandon. He often drinks excessively and has affairs with married women. Meanwhile,
Kosaku Yamada (Akira) is a hard working musician. They are asked by Miekichi Suzuki (Shingo Yanagisawa), who runs a magazine on children literature, to write children's songs together. Even though these two men have totally different personalities and argue frequently, they are able to make lots of songs to cheer up the children. They are then ordered to write a war song to send children into the battlefield.
