Plot

One day a man is suddenly told by his wife that she wants a divorce. He had always thought he was a good husband. Up to now he had always complied with her wishes. But without telling him why, she gathers up all her belongings and leaves, leaving behind only their 7-year-old daughter. So now life as a twosome begins for him and his daughter Rin. But there's an awkward atmosphere in the house. Unwillingly performing household chores he's not used to doing and left to care for Rin, Tetsuro becomes angry and stressed out, without really knowing how Rin feels inside. In fact, the only one who has really understood Rin is her home tutor.

ace Nov 19 2014 2:45 pm I will start with the disclaimer I loathe shows like this. I have seen the same scenario play out multiple times in Jdoramas. Mother literally abandons family. Father struggles to raise kids. He overcomes obstacles. Then she returns and gains custody of kids. I'm no expert on Japanese Family Law but I find it hard to reconcile with the idea of: Mother suddenly abandons kids + Father becomes sole caregiver + Terrible mother has her fun and eventually returns and the court decides to take kid away from the now-stable sole caregiver and give her like she is mere property to the horrible mother as if it is best for kid simply based upon biology. It just sickens me. It enrages me. It ruins an otherwise decent drama. Not sure what message these dramas are trying to convey. Maybe that it is perfectly ok for a mother to abandon her family because there are absolutely no consequences that she herself will ever have to pay. Everyone else will suffer for your actions, especially your child, but that is ok because after you change your mind the court will cruelly strip the kid away from the sole caregiver to return them to you and it will be a happy smiling end. Just.....God, how I loathe this type sh!t in a drama. I find it to be so divorced from reality. Grrrr Gag meh.
