Achiara is a small and peaceful village with nearly zero crime. One day, So-Yoon (Moon Geun-Young) arrives in Achiara. She will teach English at the local school. On her first day at work, she finds a buried body. So-Yoon and Police Officer Woo-Jae (Yook Sung-Jae) attempt to find the truth. As they get closer to the truth, the ugliness of the village is revealed.

Ciepao Apr 06 2021 2:31 am For me, this drama lacks something. I don't find this drama that mysterious, thrilling or creepy(?). Some scenes are questionable and don't make sense for me. Like why do they let the 2 kids roam at night when they already know that there's a rapist/killer in their village that hasn't been caught yet? And also, I don't like the acting that much, it isn't captivating.

I'll give this a 4/10. Got bored on episode 3, skipped most of the scenes.

I especially like the lady who wants to solve all of her problems by trying to send people to the United States (the character isn't likeable at all but her problem solving is). And when the other mother threatens to chop her daughter's hair if she doesn't stay out of trouble - the daughter does not stay out of trouble. The substation police are awesome.

May Aug 28 2018 12:24 am it's a great story with full of turns.

I can actually feel by heart the pain the main character displayed. especially the mother of Kim Hye Jin. it's true that you won't always agree with the protagonist. I kind of hate how the mother of Yoo Na was portrayed. not sure why. maybe they only focus with her flaws. they did not show her past scars. though I have those instincts halfway that maybe this, those and that things. but still can't help but hate her. but I ended up feeling so bad for her.

only thing about this show is that the ending. like what the others said. it could not have been a real ending. there are still some plot holes. like? those sneaker in the end. it seems like they solved everything but gosh. I don't also think there was a proper closure.

by the way, it may sound funny or whatnot, but my heart ached at the very end. after seeing what the time capsule contains.

it's a good drama. but if you like romance, set this aside since romance is not something noticeable in this story. but yeah. it's a good one.

Han So-Yoon, all she's doing is getting to the truth about what happened to her family. While she's inflicting all sorts of pain by forcing all those women to confront their horrid pasts, she's actually doing some good: Exposing a rare disease and helping the police to solve past crimes. So, why do I want something really bad to happen to her? I hate her scenes and wish the little girl Yoo-Na had more screen time. This kid is fierce!

It's tough to watch a show when the lead character is so disagreeable. If it weren't a good story, one that made me want to know the Whos, Whys, and will he succeed, I would've dropped it mid-series.

Two more episodes to go.

People like that just cant see something besides action\thrill in everything they see. So just watch it, its really worth it. Its way more than just OK drama, their pride is too high to realize that.

Mona Feb 09 2018 3:14 am The drama was OK. It felt a bit rushed towards the end after dragging it on in the beginning and in the middle. Would I recommend it to other ppl? To be honest, I don't think so. It had a very good storyline I just wish that it was executed in a different way.

Also the ending didn't feel like an ending. Yes they had answered all of my questions but there were still some things left to do in order to get a good closure. I think that the director (or whoever that is handling the drama) was hoping to get permission for two more episodes (to get a proper closure, since it didn't feel like an ending) but were denied because of the low ratings.

I'm sorry but I wouldn't recommend this drama to other ppl. If you're new to k-dramas then maybe this could be for you. However if you've been watching for years then you'll definitely feel like there are A LOT of other dramas that you could've wasted the time watching.

PS. Why do I recommend it to people that are new to k-dramas?

Well I will try to give a good example;

For many people the drama 'boys over flowers' (also known as 'boys before flowers') is the first k-dramas that they've watched. Many people loved it the first time they watched it and stumbled into "the world of k-dramas". However, many people realise, years after they've watched k-dramas, that "boys before flowers" was actually a somewhat mediocre show (or even below that). If you've been watching k-dramas for years then you'll get tired of the typical plots and have most probably also been presented to many good and bad dramas. Since you've been presented with many good and bad dramas you'll know if a drama is "very good" / "mediocre" / "bad" etc.

That is why I believe that this drama (the village) will be an OK drama for the person who has been watching k-dramas for years but a really good drama for the beginner (the person that haven't been that long into k-dramas).

Lis Apr 10 2016 6:20 am 9/10 Probably one of the best kdramas I've ever seen! Intriguing story and lots of suspense which made me unable to stop watching it. If you love mystery/crime dramas and don't want cheesy, cliché, and plot absorbing romance this is the drama for you. It could have done well without the ghost elements but it was still really great! DEFINITELY deserved more views, but I guess korean audience prefer the unoriginal romance card than unpredictable story with great characterization.

To be frank, it was draggy and the ghost element (though somewhat captivating) wasn't really necessary. I guess the aim of the writers was to keep people guessing as long as possible but it translated as long and very little details per episode.

Such "insanity" sometimes only surfaces when severely provoked and the affected could appear normal on a daily basis.

All in all, before one decides to go ahead with a mistake, he/she has to think again. A mistake may not just affect one person, it could affect more people in community and typically people's lives are intertwined if closely related.

If one never recovers from being the receiving end of a mistake, likely that person will go on to make mistakes and the mistakes cycle starts again. In other words, the suffering and the pain are never ending, besides more and more people are affected. There will be more variety of reactions, resulting a complicated situation to be judged.

It is like telling lies. One lie will lead to another to cover the previous lie, and so on and so forth, so it will be never ending and snowball into something unmanageable.

ShinGoonMin Dec 04 2015 1:34 pm This is no ordinary tearjerker drama. I love the way the story twists at every turn. Its mood is almost always dark but it isn't too suffocating. It's really amazing that this drama did not rely heavily on the usual love triangle. I'm impressed at how the story flowed with very little hints at romance. The actors did a fine job for each characterization. They are believable and they were casted with great consideration, evidently. It will be hard to go back to the usual romantic comedies after this. I hope they can create a sequel. Or even a prequel. I have enough faith in the creative team behind this. Congratulations to Team Achiara! More power! Thank you for entertaining us with something smart.

There is not even a single second to be bored of, I am really in love with it! Don't look for the usual patterns you find in a kdrama, there are not. It is a gem! Enjoy watching it!

Kim hye jin mother yoon ji sook chocked her daughter because she said that she not trying to hurt her , her mother get crazy because the rapist told her the same. So she was not killing her daughter intentionly. She stopped her choking when kim hye jin said mum save me. HOW TOUCHING. Yoon Ji Sook is a real victim , she lives in fear of losing her place and murdering. How sad. The Carpenter wife is a selfishness women . She Killed Kim Hye Jin in order to keep her family happy . Don You Agree ? But Something I need to ask you all . Is it a kind of selfishness abandoning a monster child ?

Tikita, along with the rhythm, spin guitar riff The theme is Sting’s Shape of My Heart Dec 04 2015 9:54 am ah the ending is very touching but i'm not satisfied .. so many untold secrets were not revealed .. i wondered why they didn't investigate further on Hye Jin's adoption story .. and why So Yoon's grandma committed suicide in the first episode .. and i'm still curious about the parents death .. why would they went to achiara and brought Hye Jin(So Jung) and So Yoon there? and the weird thing was that the accident only took place when they were about to visit the village .. i had this feeling that someone sabotaged the car accident.. well i hope we get season 2 or a special episode that can explain better ... this drama is really amazing .. ^_^

Like Yoo Na said, she is not bad, but she is sick. i cry a river watching the final episode. Who said this drama is complicated story, maybe because of the english translation, you didn't get the story right.Just hate the fact that the politician is free, but you know THE POWER OF MONEY, thats reality. Daebak drama from the production and brilliant writer for writing this drama. Thumbs UP.

I really appreciated watching this drama even though there still are some questions to me left unanswered like why did the grandma commite suicide at the first episode?why were the two sisters declared dead at that car accident? The politician and the old guy are still free that's the sad reality, money is power!!! But in general I loved it, I enjoyed it it was so touching!!! With this, it would be unlikely that the wife of the Daekwang lumber guy killed her.

I will give away my speculation on who killed Kim Hye Jin..... The person who killed Kim Hye Jin was, in my opinion, the WIFE of the Dae Lumber man.. The artist's teacher's father. The guy who raped girls back in his day. Kim Hye Jin was his daughter and his wife found out and killed her... His wife did not want anything to be known. Remember, she was the one who lied to the police about not being there. It will be a nice twist. I say she did it.

It's rare that there are 3 good dramas that I enjoy going on at the same time... It's happening right now and it's good.. Keeps me busy at night before going to bed, enjoying some good dramas...

ANyways, worth the watch.. I don't know why the bad ratings... The mystery is pretty good...

That is why the art teachers looks like so caring to Ga Young but Ga Young think that the teacher has a feeling for her. Hye Jin has some grudge against Yoo Na father and so does the pharmacist and Yoo Na mother. But Yoo Na mother want some revenge on her way, that is why she slap Hye Jin because doesn't want any trouble go to her. The paint that Hye Jin draw (Mom with the baby and the knife) is actually the picture of the mother want to protect her baby from someone else. Because there is someone want the baby so the mother give the baby to someone else. The art teacher's father will come on the next episode and it will be a twist for that. I think I know who's the killer but I cannot spoil it.

I feel like the father is the carpenter guy, and that's why Kim Hye jin, according to that pervert guy, wanted someone to see her. So I'm thinking that she knows that carpenter guy is her father that's why she wanted him to see her. Also, I think the carpenter guy raped Ga-Young's mother because remember the mom recalled what happen to her. I think that was in ep 2 or 3. That pervert guy is the murderer but he didn't kill Kim Hye Jin??? What I haven't figured out is who is Hye jin's mom, and wth does she has to do with Yoona's crazy family.

I've thoroughly enjoyed watching it and cannot wait for Episode 12, where my suspicion will be confirmed or denied. The ratings must be low due to it being a new drama, so let's hope that it receives the praise it deserves soon!

This drama seemingly makes us, as viewers, police detectives ourselves, which is stimulating and very fun. I think it has been cleverly written and conveyed into motion picture.

It is already half of the total ep yet what we know is just she is the soyoon's sister. Because of this, it became boring for people who rarely watch mystery, if they place the serial killing more than this while the main story goes as well i personally think it will attract more people because it will gives more thrill to viewers. However, it still has its plus side and that is keeping the murder unknown for us to investigate and the backsound was great the shoot and the view are beautiful. I enjoy watching this a lot since im hardcore mystery lover nah. And mostly the acting were great, evebthough soyoon character is too innocent for crime drama but her reverse side when she was mad was a shocking fact for me. I thought the writer were making anmoying type of girl Im totally wrong. AND MOST OF ALL I SHIP GEUNYOUNG WITH JOOWAN HEHEHHE

ri hyo Oct 17 2015 11:17 pm I started this drama bcoz of yook sung jae but the storyline really hooked me up ! i'm getting more and more curious on what going to happen next.. the mystery behind kim hye jin dead totally haunted me.. I don't think Gi hyun is the killers, the wont reveal killer identity too early or else the story wont be interesting anymore.. that 'agasshi' kind of suspicious, he the one who follow han so yoon with whatever item in his hands, and the way he look at random girl (when he escort by police) was creepy.. he might be the seriel killers but i wish i'm wrong.. the way he talk with park won jae so innocent and cute.. so many secret to be unfold.. hopefully, neither insepctor han or park woo jae is the killer (its unlikely but who know what twist writer had in mind right?) And forget about rating.. what matter we all enjoy watching this drama ^^

I just read the synopsis and think maybe this drama has similiar basic story with hot fuzz.. but maybe with different plot and different character too. So my expectation for this drama is quite high. And i am so excited with this drama, because i love mystery genre.. Fighting moon geun yeong eonni and sungjae !!

Sam Aug 31 2015 7:44 pm I was disappointed when I read the news that YP got extended to 20 Episodes when clearly, it's been a mess with the last two Episodes. I'm more excited with this drama. It looks mysterious and dark at the same time. I am reminded of 'Another' with its synopsis.
