Plot

Today is Mo-rae and Sang-in’s one-year wedding anniversary. After a busy morning preparing for the celebration, Mo-rae goes to an art gallery to find a gift for Sang-in. At the gallery, she meets a complete stranger and the two unexpectedly have sex. Mo-rae returns home feeling anxious and guilty about the incident and cannot help but confess it to Sang-in. That night, a visitor arrives at their house; Du-rae, who came from Paris to help Sang-in with his new business. To Mo-rae’s shock, he is the man from the gallery. He temporarily lives with the couple in their house and a risky love triangle begins.

AlienInThisSociety Jul 23 2017 9:27 am So Mo Rae said goodbye to Du Re and tried to work it out with her husband who couldn't get over it until after they divorced a few months later. She's not even showing yet and he proposes re-marriage and decides to bring back his mentor and try to live as a threesome (4some if you count their unborn) again.

It seems Sang In needs the passion, pleasure and creativity Du Re elicits as much as Mo Rae did.

Very interesting.

The woman gets her happy ending, even if she cheated, but if it was the husband the one f***ing around, the ending would have not been pleasant for him, to put it gently . I personally don't believe in second chances or happy endings, especially if cheating is involved. So i found the ending unrealistic and the movie just meh... I feel sorry for the poor fictional dude thought and all those real life bastards who chose to take back a cheating spouse and spend the rest of their life in misery trying to accept and be alright with the fact that their significant other betrayed them in one of the worst ways.

Afenie Dec 12 2014 6:55 pm Why I think they re-married is because of the pictures in the sand at the end, all the pictures where of her and Sang-In together, or whit the child. The picture of Du-re were whit Sang-in and himself (as chef). There weren't any pictures of Du-re and Mo-Rae,and the big picture of Mo-Rae symbolize how much of an impact he had on her and her life. I think they re-married and he was confident to ask her hand again because they both grew from the experience, he'll show more love and her, an emotional growth ( It taste different) she kept saying that about Du-re implying that she thought it would be the same whit any other man but it wasn't, and she was surprise. Whit Du-rae it was love but a passionate one, whit her husband it was another deeper kind of love, but we all know passion doesn't last forever.

Plus the director wouldn't have put that scene at the end asking her hand again, if they didn't re-marry, she says I'll think about it to leave an open ending but by the pictures you can tell they went back to each other (when he asked she was still carrying the baby and belly didn't show, but on the pictures of the tree of them we saw a little girl, future).

Afenie Dec 12 2014 6:24 pm She's been in love whit the same man all her life and married for almost 10 years I presume. They must have been together for over 30 years!!! She never looked or been whit any other man, of course she or he's gonna stray, they are like an old couple, but in there 30's. If there love lasted so long, like any couple out there the passion would fade eventually whit time. I think she just had a crush, it was passion burning but not lasting. I think her love for Du-Rae started whit the physical then transferred to an emotional one, she's been whit one man all her life. The way they were whit one another (husband) towards the end when she went back to him, for a couple that's been together for so long means, she does love her husband, she didn't settle, no matter what, you don't stay or re-marry the same man if you don't love him (the pictures at the end of her, her husband, and the little girl).

To be with someone who does not want to be with anyone else.. cus YOUR what they desire.. YOUR the center of their world. To settle for less is to set yourself up for the greatest theft of wealth there is.. divorce. I'd rather be with someone who loves me.. than with someone i love. Both these guys are stoooooopid... especially the first one in a relationship with her. Sure this is just a movie.. and it ends "happy?" .. I dont think so.. while stuck in a relationship with a woman who wants things besides YOU.. waiting for the NEXT guy to come along.. the poor guys.. arent out there looking for someone that would appreciate them. I love the actors.. i loved the movie.. but the premise.. is disaster waiting to happen. and a woman who would sleep with someone the first hour they met them? a married woman?????.. god i pray i never enter a relationship with such a woman.

confused Jun 04 2014 4:07 pm This movie is possibly one of the most confusing movie I've seen. For one throughout the whole entire movie you could most defiantly tell that she wanted Du-rae and that what ever she had wither husband was falling apart. The only reason she had chose to stay with her husband was because of the fact that they were apart of each other's life for so long. I mean honestly this movie would've been better if they hadn't dragged out the relationship between du rae and mo rae. I mean it was inevitable that she was gonna leave her husband...

Shin Min-A and Ju Ji-Hoon both doing an excellent job of a couple falling in love, and they have great chemistry. i am a bit less enthusiastic about Kim Tae-Woo's inexpressive interpretation of a childhood-friend-more than-a-brother-husband character. but it's obvious why the wife is indecisive - she knows Han Sang-In cannot live without her, and i am not so sure she can picture her life without her 'bro' either... but even if she could, she cannot express herself without hurting either of the men :S

5m1l3 Apr 17 2014 6:50 am I came to watch this after watching Goong (that was so good :D although it started dragging about 2 thirds through, but the ending was good). Ehrmagod I just finished the movie, and although I don't want to sound harsh, I just can't empathise with the female lead. It's like the writers kind of meshed together all the leads in the end. So all in all, this has got to be my least favourite movie so far- I feel so distant from the plotline, and because of that there weren't any high points or low points.

rskdrama Mar 19 2014 10:43 am I decided to watch this drama after seeing Ji-Hoon smile in a clip. I liked it. It' s a well directed pictured drama. I just saw what the director wanted me to see and understand whatever he showed me... It's a great drama.. i liked the nature of sang-min, his maturity and how he loved mo-rae. I liked the love that du-re was feeling after an accidental sexual act, his age and his maturity there-of. There is no mention of the father of the baby, which is good.. I am also glad they didn't take a sequel.. it could be pictured with any one character having an advantage. I guess the director gave a good indication of where the future for the three are going.. and showed it as well. I like the movie, the way it is taken, and the ending.

Reading all the comments, or most of them, it is so obvious that people are so brainwashed by what is "socially acceptable" that they all get worked up when a beautiful 3-way relationship doesn't follow the standard pattern. The key is in what Sang In said to Du Re, "I don't possess her, I am with her!" Too many people treat partners as possessions, jealousy is a disease! It was so beautiful to see an open-minded husband who loves his wife in ways that most people can't seem to grasp. And to claim that she doesn't love him anymore is nonsense, seeing as how much effort she put in the anniversary breakfast... That was clearly prepared with love! To the people who believe one cannot love two people at the same time and speak harsh of those suffering that fate, we wish you exactly that fate! We've a few friends who were in that position and it is VERY real and a big problem when the surroundings are as narrowminded as the majority of the people seem to be. Refreshing and enjoyable movie for those who are not so narrowminded. :D:D

Abi Jan 11 2014 8:48 pm Oh my god, worst movie ever. That may sound a little harsh but this movie had me ripping my hair out the whole way through. Some people may think it was to show acceptance in love and relationships and figuring out what ones heart really desires, but this was just terribly depressing to watch. What kind of woman could drag two guys through shit like that and then still act chipper and happy seeing these two guys crumble to bits. And then the ending was so confusing. I don't understand why the guys still loved her after she selfishly played both sides. It was depressing and just teeth-grittingly hard to watch. I was hoping that the husband would leave her and she'd be left alone to face karma on her own for hurting these two guys. Maybe if she had more remorse, it'd be different, but she seemed quite happy the whole way through to have attention from two men. Ugh, just a crappy movie with a confusing ending. I feel so jumbled after watching this movie.

Kathryn Sep 20 2013 3:50 pm Not meant to be a serious study of marital infidelity. This was a little movie about the acceptance of alternative love. Not that I have ever experienced or even thought of it. But after watching this movie, I think it was just to show how love (Bro's) led him to accept his ex wife's love of both of them. Real life? Who knows. There are Later Day Saints w/ multiple spouses. I don't know how that works actually. But in this movie the photo of both men, on both sides of the ex wife, talking about not waking her up, seems to indicate that they all end up together. Platonic or a 3 person relationship? Who knows. The point is they come together to be there for her during her pregnancy. That shows the characters' growth and acceptance. Not such a bad ending for a little movie. :) Made me want to see them all together again in a sequel, raising the baby together & eating nice meals w/ the photographer & financial angel...

leesunmin Jul 14 2013 7:36 am SPOILER ALERT I think that when she couldn't have both, she chose neither. It explains why both men were in shock at her decision. Frustrating ending though. Why the writer thought it would be great to make her decision mysterious is beyond me.

Interesting that the one who handled her decision poorly was the flighty dongsaeng. The steady Hyung was the first one to come around to liking the idea of the three of them living together again. Go Hyung!

Here's how I interpreted the ending... Mo-Rae sent Du-re away because she knew that it would constantly hurt Sang-In to see them interact now that he knows the truth. Mo-Rae & Sang-In broke up because they were honest about their feelings. They love each other but not in love with each other as husband & wife should be. After some time, Sang-In was able to heal emotionally. He missed the good times they all had and wants to rekindle it with Mo-Rae's permission because he knows she love them both. I liked it.

Ronaldo Dec 28 2012 7:47 am I read previous comments to understand the story particularly the ending but the only thing made up my mind is that the movie drive me crazy even though I'm not sure if it's because I just took and watched it lightly. I totally agreed, it's almost the same as "My wife got married" but not as clear ending. I also agreed to some of those who told that the two guys might be lover's in Paris because when Sang-in get drunk and the three of them laid on the bed, Du-Re said " I like him too" while in the ending, Sang-In said "I miss him". Could there be a man who will simply say and feel that way after somebody make his wife pregnant? Another crazy thing is that Sang-In said in the ending "Before I bring him, I want to bring you first" what does it mean? the three of them will live together? even the talks while the picture is flying...it seems the two guys having fun while Mo-Rae is sleeping.....sorry but i think, it will better ending if they end it when the three of the major casts go on separate ways.....

After sometime...Mo-rae told Sang-In that the father of her baby is Du-re but he already left Korea. She then asked Sang-In for divorce and he signed it but they remain friends. That's why in the beach...she told Mo-rae...I will find Du-re but before that I want you to come back first. Sang-In still hoping she will chose him knowing that the father of the baby is Du-rae then Mo-rae said..we just had a divorce for 3 months? (I can't remember) so the baby is still in the tummy and now 3 or 4 months?

Blame it on the story, trying so hard to make it as stressful and emotionally disturbing and if that were the intentions, then he's done a good job but my regret is I wish I hadnt watched it. Hope this distressful life wasn't the director's or the writers own. Don't watch it if you are in love with someone.

The Du-rae is the father. The girl is with him. Sang-in has accepted this and only wants Mo-rae to be happy so he tries to bring them together. And in truth he misses Du-rae.

What confuses me is Sang in said he misses Du Ra, so he will find hime, but before he needs bring Mo Ra back first and then shows the picture of three in the same bed. Does this mean he will accept the three? Mo Ra said she wanted both and that was greedy in her part when she was asked to choose what she wants be Sangin. And, when Dura was making motion of taking a photo of his belly reflected on the window he said, 'three is not possible' So, after all at the end, Sang in is trying to get all three back because he misses being with Mora and to do so he needs to bring Du Ra back, too. If that's the case, I don't how to accept this. But, at the same time, there's no judgement necessary either. Life is mysterious and there's no rule as to how to live, but to live fully finding true happiness... Anyhow, the names Mora and Dura are intentional, too. It shows they are meant to be. In Korea having names end or start the same is very meaningful and in old days it was a rule to have that way in family...

ummmm sangin is a man most unlikely to be found in this world..... as shown in the movie he is quit unbelieveable (soooo not me).....

uh i think mo-rae is mean to be a young married gal (blank brain) and gets carried away by new face n hav sex with du-rea (unknown good loking guy)..... story raises up when sangin forgive morae with in a matter of seconds and doesnot want to listen more... while Durae comes to his house and start showing his love towards Morae thinking she is not happi with Sangin...

well mo-rae is just atrracted to a new man who is young and handsome and i think she is curious to know him as he is unknown, and his unique loving style.... She wants to possess both of them....

After the fight, i personally think mo-rae choosed sangin but also says how she feels in her heart.... well sangin (stupid) goes for morae's happiness and get durae back.... and may be threesome haha or just hav a couple days without sex..... but suddenly morae leaves them two (sangin and durae) and runs away from the house..... durae blames himself and as he is not strong as 'sangin' so wents back to paris..... then start the confusing parts.... when and how morae come back and get divorce and where is that child go??? and what is written in that photo???? cant understand korean........... It is well confusing though...

The scenario is really poor and there are a lot of things that could be said from each character specially the husband. Anyway, the story is very twisted and the husband thinking is awkward and incomprehensible...

American Ajuhmma Oct 10 2009 1:53 am I think more than a kiss happened between them, and it bothered me that none of the three seemed concerned about the paternity of MoRae's baby. I think DuRe reacted to news of her pregnancy as if he were the baby's father. He was excited whereas Sangin was disinterested. I thought of My Wife Got Married immediately, while watching this film. I wasn't clear what the relationship between the two guys was. Dure seemed to like Sangin alot and I thought perhaps they were lovers in Paris. My sense was that Dure wanted at first to be a trio, but then tried to have Morae to himself when it wasn't working. A heartbreaking moment for me was when Dure is crying on the airplane as he leaves them both behind. An interesting dilemma if one is not marrying for love. Is the commitment aspect of marriage more important than love? That was the real issue for MoRae. She felt it was, while DuRe loved her and wanted their love to be more important to her. There were many charming endearing moments in this film. I liked the Ji Hoon/ Mina Shin combo in the kdrama "The Devil? and was happy to see them together again. It was beautifully filmed, well acted, and worth the time watching even if I came away confused at the ending.

Actually my friend told me that was the ending but idk :P other thant the ending it was a pretty good movie!

RamenLover May 31 2009 8:35 pm Lisa the ending seemed intentionally open ended. Mo-rae wanted more time to think about whether to go back with Sang-in and what, if any, type of relationship she would have with Du-Re. So the answer to your question is unknown .....

Ki May 31 2009 12:47 am Building upon the topic of marital infidelity ala “My Wife Got Married” and the recent interest in food based films like “Antique” and “Le Grand Chef,” the new Korean film ‘The Naked Kitchen” attempts to whip up a modern dish based upon a very familiar recipe: a love triangle involving one woman and two men. The spin that the “The Naked Kitchen” provides is that its main character, Mo-rae Ahn played by Min-a Shin, isn’t what you may expect - an extroverted modern woman out to get what she wants. Instead, Mo-rae has all of the innocence of say Audrey Tautou’s Amelie Poulain and in a bit of an existential moment out of Albert Camus’ “The Stranger” becomes blinded by the sun and, because of this, finds herself dipping her toes in the pool of infidelity. The film also stars up & coming actor Ji-hun Ju, who made quite a splash for himself in last year’s “Antique.” More recently, Ji-hun Ju made an even bigger splash for himself by getting involved in a drug arrest, so if you like Jin-hu Ju make sure to catch this film as you won't see him in any other films anytime soon.

In “The Naked Kitchen,” sweet & innocent Mo-rae Ahn (Min-a Shin) seems to be happily married to her first love Sang-in (played by Tae-woo Kim). One day, Mo-rae sneaks into an art museum and bumps into a man who may have also sneaked into the closed art museum. With the sound of employees walking towards them, the man pulls Mo-rae into a narrow hallway and awaits for the employees to pass by. During this moment, Mo-rae and the man stand face and face, with the bright afternoon sunlight shining straight into Mo-rae’s eyes. She starts to feel something come over her and before she realizes what is happening, Mo-rae finds herself in a passionate kiss with this unfamiliar man.

That evening Mo-rae has dinner with husband Sang-in. Still confused by what happened earlier, Mo-rae confesses to Sang-in what happened that afternoon in the art museum. Sang-in isn’t the mood to hear Mo-rae’s confession as he is busy preparing for the opening of his new restaurant. Especially when Sang-in has gone through the trouble of bringing over a chef from France to personally tutor him. When they arrive back at their home the Korean-French chef awaits for them outside of their house. To Mo-rae’s surprise, the Korean-French chef is the man she kissed passionately at the art museum …

The English title “The Naked Kitchen” is a bit of a misnomer as the movie doesn’t contain any nudity and doesn’t have much eroticism. The film takes place exclusively in trendy upscale settings, filled with well dressed food critics, chefs, & young professionals. To the movie’s detriment I did find the movie to be excessively clean. This in itself held the film back when considering the film’s topic.

What the movie eventually attempts to examine is the meaning of love as it pertains to Korean woman. Sang-in finds herself having to choose between a man that’s always there for her (possibly representing the traditional Korean male figure) and a man filled with mystery & excitement (representing the new modern Korean man). Unfortunately the script and its delivery is completely lifeless. You never get a sense of excitement or anticipation during the film’s runtime. Instead, you’re likely to find yourself yawning, while admiring the hip furniture and wondering to yourself when something of interest might come about. For bored housewives “The Naked Kitchen” may strike a chord and possibly elicit a more positive response. If you don’t fall within that group and your not a die-hard Min-a Shin / Jin-hu Ju / or Tae-woo Kim fan, then skip “The Naked Kitchen” - it has all the flavor of an unsalted cracker.

The plot was unconventional but it leaves something to the person watching... it's worthy to watch, happy viewing
