Jo Tae-Sik (Lee Min-Ki) was once an enthusiastic detective, but he now wants a different kind of life. He longs for a peaceful and ordinary existence. Because of this, Jo Tae-Sik applies for a transfer to a police substation in a small country village without many residents. Meanwhile, Jo Tae-Sik takes a case involving the death of Lawmaker Kim Seung-Cheol. He died in a car accident, but Jo Tae-Sik senses that the car accident is not so clear-cut. The lawmaker's son-in-law then goes missing.

Kim Seo-Hui (Lee Yoo-Young) is the youngest daughter of the late lawmaker and her husband is now missing. She married her husband to benefit both of their families, but their relationship hasn't been so good. Kim Seo-Hui becomes a lawmaker to find the truth behind her father's death and save her missing husband.

Jo Tae-Sik and Kim Seo-Hui soon uncover a conspiracy and try to reveal the truth.

Mini Nov 17 2023 11:21 am The drama is a bit slow but gets interesting after a while. The level main detective, the tech guy and the masterminds of the crime are great. The police and their dynamics that go down was more interesting than the political part I feel. A lot of people hate the policewoman but she stops being annoying at a point and honestly she is just gender reversal of similar in other series. And her satoori isn't that bad. The female lead grows by the end but it was too painful to watch and I don't get her relationship at all and feel it wasn't well established in the beginning. The detectives at least got closure but with her character the supposed closure is abrupt. This drama is based on a novel by Joo Won Gyu (with changes) and feels like a Nordic noir. It took some time to understand some of the context which wasn't clear at first in the drama but the answers thinking about the why are startling.

From FL to ML to supporting cast—how can they be so gullible and stupid not to make backup files of everything?!? And always believing the bad guys and getting inside their cars. OMG. Tina Apr 21 2023 7:41 am Truly it was difficult to get through this series. It's, boring, it drags on forever and it was too gruesome at the start. If you've watched 'Dark Waters' (the movie) you'll realise that they stole the main point of that true-life movie and gave ridiculous reasons for events... typical of kdramas.

Aside from being extremely thin, the female lead is weak, foolish and her character plot made the whole storyline worse. I will say that Lee Yoo-Young played this role well, but it wasn't enough to make you forget the dragging storyline.

The cast did well honestly, but the script let them down. Also there were so many unnecessary scenes here. 6/10

Nathaniel B. Nov 29 2022 1:41 pm I liked the actors, all of them very familiar from other dramas. The story was also very familiar from other dramas, it struck all the usual detective-story tropes. The screenwriter obviously realized how hackneyed the storyline was, and instead of trying to be creative, descended into ghoulishness. The final explanation is so absurd, the screenwriter could very well have been bad tripping on something hallucinatory. Good Lord, what a load of stomach-turning idiocy. You can watch it for the fine performances of a cast of talented professionals, but for no other reason. Is my critique heartless, well, I guess, the screenwriter cut the heart out of me.

Park Min Sep 26 2022 8:28 pm Unbelievable how dull and bland this is. Another uneventful crime drama with incompetent authorities and airheaded characters. Watered down run-of-the-mill story that lacked coherent structure. The emotional moments didn't carry a hefty impact, part of that falls on to the characters' writing and maybe the cast performance sometime. Speaking of which, not a single character stood out.

It's definitely overrated for how much people call it "underrated".

Magdalena Jul 06 2022 5:36 pm A masterpiece, a master performance of my favourite actor Lee Min Ki!!! A must see!! So ignore the negativity here, just watch it!! To me it is a definitely 10/10! A very good story and plot, full of mystery and some humour, till the end you will keep guessing who did what exactly. Wonderful acting of all the cast but Lee Min Ki is just outstanding.

I loved this series very much, was not bored for 1 second! Really excellent! Also Lee Min Ki is one of fav actors and again he put down a master performance, never disappointed with him. He is really a great actor! Highly recommend to watch this series, to me : 10/10!

Graham May 24 2022 11:33 am This is an enjoyable series. Good mystery, and humour. I thought is was a bit unbelievable the way the heroine Kim Seo-Hui was treated by the other characters. Nobody comforted her or thought to tell her what had happened to her husband, and she just accepted the politicians mistreating her and threatening her. I realise the writers were trying to make the audience feel for her, but it seemed a little unrealistic. But worth watching.

Thank you especially for the other-wordly way of bringing a closure to wrap up the story lines. It was a joy to be part of your adventure. This is my second time through and I will probably want to watch it again next year.

Chan Apr 17 2021 6:28 am Such a bittersweet ending. I cant say it is a happy ending but it not a sad ending either. But my heart broke for jeong sang hun and jin yeong min. Those two deserve all the happiness. It must hard, pain and lonely fight for them since they were young.

I bet jeong sang hun also want to meet kim seo hui atleast once before his death. Hug her and tell her how much he love and misses her. But he didnt get the chance. That make my hurt broke for this two also.

I can feel how devastated kim seo hui waiting for her missing husband. I can feel her sadness and pain. Lee yoo young was great portray her character.

Masterpiece Mar 10 2021 3:08 pm Every aspect in this drama is perfect. Acting, editing, screenplay, humor, plot, twists you mame it you have it in tight proportions. I was watching Vincenzo and was annoyed with its over glorification n flat comedy and came across this one on Netflix. Glad I am watching this. Soooo wonderful. And ppl bashing the female detective...I have never seen an actress pulling that hyperactive character so believable. She is brilliant. The female lead, yeah she is supposed to be the naive ,frog in the well character who is tasting reality of politics and growing. Just watch this drama with each characters POV and all u can do is applaud.

Lily Jan 29 2021 1:06 pm Why I just watching this drama now???? When I watched in the beginning until the middle, I guess what kind of conflict it was and I think I'm right. But nope, I was wrong!! The plot is very mind-blowing. Yes, at first I was very annoyed with Seo-Hee characters because she looked weak and clueless. But there is character development towards the end of the drama.

And I don't think the female detective annoying. Just because she talk in satoori (accent) doesn't mean she is annoying. So please pleaseeee if you like a thriller/crime/mystery drama you should watch this!!! One of the best thriller drama that i've ever watched.

The fl character annoyed me at first because she didn't suspect anyone close to her in the beginning but then she had only worked as a cafe owner so the timid thoughts were pretty much justified. However she became better after the mistake and i think her character development is one of the best.

Also hogyu, jesus. I'm still so sad T.T

Ah right. I've read somewhere that people did not like the female detective but i think her character was needed for the team. The drive and emotions she held were important i guess(?)

i came for the actor Yun Jongseok and wow no regret. The cast was fantastic and did a great job. Ive never watched lee minki's dramas before but he did great in here if you were hesitating to watch. I was wrecked from the first episode but got utterly wrecked starting episode 10. If life has been easy and too happy or you just needed a reason to frustrate yourself over a crime drama, this is a great choice. 9.8/10.

Romance was like 0.5% so yeah very ocn type of drama xD

Roastedredpepper Jul 18 2020 1:56 pm Not trying to be insensitive but I couldn't help but to draw parallels between Lee Yoo Young's character losing her husband and in real life her boyfriend actor Kim Joo Hyuk who she was likely going to marry died suddenly in 2017...it felt like this role/project was her way of coming to terms with and accepting and moving forward in her life and career after the tragic loss...watching her character after knowing about her private life felt kinda invasive yet sympathetic and healing

Nice to see Lee min Ki try another genre, he is good in the part. Lee yoo Young was miscast, she was too weak and not a convincing actor. Joon Hyun Lee is a great actor and his part was superb. A good thriller with a somewhat slow start. A thriller needs to be thrilling quicker. The old Dad is great.

Davia Oct 27 2019 2:55 pm Paul, My take on your question. I am presuming it's for practical reasons. Crashing older model cars is cheaper. Deploying airbags can crush actors/stuntpersons ribs. If the airbag is deployed before the scene is set up then it might be harder to get the actor in the position they want to film them in. Also it's harder then to see the person in the seat next seat.

tim Oct 27 2019 10:39 am I must agree that the female detective is kind of annoying, if they make her more serious then this drama is just perfect, and I think the hairstyle is just a perfect fit for his character, he is a detective not some idol can't have flashy hairstyle. So far so good, the end of episode 5 caught me off guard. Who is that man they are trying to rescue.

Paul Oct 23 2019 6:39 pm I'm enjoying this so far. A couple of questions: 1. I notice in Kdramas that whenever a car is wrecked, it is never a newer model. For example, the car at the beginning that the girl falls on is an older Sonata and the car that Kim Seung-Cheol crashes is an older model too. Is there a reason for this? 2. In the car accident, Kim Seung-Cheol is killed instantly, but there is no evidence of an air bag deployment. I also see this in other dramas. I assume Korean cars have airbags, so why are they ignored? I am in the US, so any clarification from my Korean friends would be most appreciated.

I don’t know any of the actors, they’re new to me but wow they’re amazing. And yes, the female detective is annoying. Haha but that aside, this drama doesn’t give us any dead air. I wouldn’t dare push that forward button. I tend to forward scenes which seems dragging—fillers. Please watch it! ANd you’ll know. I got goosebumps even on the 1st ep. wow. So many twists and turns. I just can’t trust anyone there but the lead. I love him and his character.

james Oct 16 2019 3:46 pm bro the reason I love OCN stuff is the lack of romance as a focus. we're drowning in romantic crap with all the other dramas, I watch OCN shows because they're thrilling and violent. the writers actually move the plot along and I LOVE it. there are no wasted scenes. OCN has a formula when it comes to their shows and it works. if you don't like it, no one is forcing you to watch it. reading criticism about the actors' hair style...dear lord are you watching the show? or did you come to drool over your oppa? the character is in the police force, it makes sense why he looks the way he does. ANYWAYS this show is absolutely gripping.

I don't find it good bcoz most of the times it kinda ruins the faces of all my favourite handsome actors ? Just compare Lee Min Ki in Dalja's Spring/Love Truly vs The Beauty Inside, Lee Dong Wok in My Girl vs Touch Your Heart, So Ji Sub in Sorry, I Love U vs Oh My Venus, Hyun Bin in My Lovely Samsoon vs Hyde Jekyll & Me. Those actors are wayyyy better/handsome in those old school hairstyles ?? But anyway, still loving minki though

i just hope to see a romantic scene despite the chaotic running,and chasing and finding the killers and all the detective thing.
