Anna Matsuda (Ryoko Yonekura) is a reporter for the Toto Newspaper. She is referred to as “Shinbun Gyokai no Itanji” (nonconformist in the newspaper field). Following her beliefs as a journalist, she carries out her work.

Notes

Drama series "The Journalist" shares the same Japanese title "Shinbun Kisha" as 2019 movie "The Journalist," which is also set at newspaper company Toto Newspaper and is directed by same director Michihito Fujii, but features different characters and story from the movie version.

As mentioned, all aspects of production were first rate & the actors are each one wonderfully accomplished & professional. And the music is a hidden gem, compelling. A+ all the way.

This is based in the moritomo gakuen scandal, and yes, many believe that this is the true reason for the resignation of Abe Shinzo and eventually Yoshihide Suga.
