Kim Hae-Il (Kim Nam-Gil) is a Catholic priest. He makes spiteful remarks and he can be rude to others. Koo Dae-Young (Kim Sung-Kyun) is a detective. He talks a lot and he is also timid. Park Kyung-Sun (Lee Ha-Nee) is a prosecutor. She is smart and beautiful. She is also ambitious as a prosector and good at her job.

Catholic Priest Kim Hae-Il, Detective Koo Dae-Young and Prosecutor Park Kyung-Sun work together to solve a murder case involving a senior Catholic priest.

His chemistry with Ha-Nee is soooo good like they are BFFs, Ha-Nee is so fun yet bitchy in her character. Totally love it! Although it's 20eps long, trust me it's sooo goooodd!

Toria May 06 2023 4:30 am It can be annoying but it's interesting to watch. Some funny scenes as well. People are upset that why do bad people keep winning? Well in real world, bad people win more often than good people. Good eventually wins at the end but not always so. I was upset he didn't drop the priesthood early to finish off the bad guys patience is a virtue, it's also nice he didn't end up killing anyone of them. If you are wondering if you should watch it, please do. It's a nice series

Jct Mar 26 2023 1:27 am Very frustrating, the bad guy always win. Also wondering, how the script (story line) describes stupidity of ALL policemen, like everybody is an idiot there. It doesnt make sense. The prosecutor lady is giving a bad example for woman in power. She is bullying and rude to her subordinates, but bow down to her corrupt boss that she knew deep in her heart is wrong. I stop watch since episode 8. Not worth watching. Kim Nam Gil was the only reason why i watched until ep.8. Kudos for his acting

And all the actors was really good especially Kim Nam Gil and Lee Hanee. I really love all the works of Kim Nam Gil (including the Island and Through the Darkness) and I'm still here patiently waiting for 2nd season. Please drop it already!

Mich J Jan 30 2023 5:54 pm After I finished watching the Island, I was so obsessed with Nam Gil, hahaha. I thought of doing a movie marathon of his movies while waiting for season 2 of Island. Anyways, I also like Ha-Nee (I first watched her in One the Woman) Since then, I've liked her too so I was really happy when I saw that she and Nam Gil are like a love team here, hehe. Overall, I would rate this series as 101/100. Good job, Nam Gil!

At first, I watched it only because I love Kim Nam Gil but I stopped at EP6 coz I find the story and the comedy corny. And then I gave it another try and continue to watch. I was suprised that I finished it in 2 days. The story kept me hooked plus Kim Nam Gil is super handsome here. I appreciate also the comedy scenes and not bored with every episodes. Because of this, I missed Kim Nam Gil more and watched his other movies and dramas. Hope there will be more shows for him

I always laugh when watching every episode. The acting of the players, especially Kim Nam Gil, is no longer in doubt. Please make another season 2 for this drama, because I really like it.

But..im sorry it's too exhausting too watch (even tho i completed it). 20 EP were too long, theres so many filler episode when it could've been ended at 12 or maybe 16.

The plot was bland whatsoever, like i said before 20 EP were too much. The story just going around back and forth. As a former NIS Agent, the Priest didnt really has a good tactic to beat the villain. The prosecutor is too confused whether she want to be evil or not.

The comedy aspect was quite funny (some jokes looks cringe for me)

Last thing is, for a 2019 Drama, the camera angle, the effects, the filter/color grading just look so old. Its like a cheap budget drama

Rima Dec 27 2022 4:49 pm I really enjoyed this drama!!! Really excellent! A great story, hilarious at times and such good acting of all the cast! Bravo to all of them. I can imagine not everyone feels the same about this series, it all depends on what you are looking for and how you feel the time you are watching a drama. If you are looking for a tough and serious police drama, then this one is not for you. I liked it a lot, it is very entertaining and light. I recommend to watch it and judge for yourself.

nice Apr 03 2022 6:54 am Honestly speaking i watch this because many talk about how great and high rating is it After finishing the drama,i have mixed feelings.It really has a slow start,the show as funny but the slow mixing makes me.nearly want to drop it But after bearing it for a while,it turns out that this was one of the better dramas i have watch

Overall i must say,it was a good drama but maybe just not for everyone

No doubt the series is funny however every episode I felt so frustrated! If you're looking for a series that will alleviate your stress due to work or problems the please don't ever watch this! Again although it will make you laugh because if their funny antics, but because there are too many bad people you'd really get mad as well! I'm now on episode 10 and I still don't feel any conscience show by thos bad people even the female lead playing the prosecutor, I found her to be the worst of all because she's the bad man's mop, she cleans their mess and even with the consequences on other people she just doesn't care... I know probably in the coming episodes she might change, unfortunately for me it's already too late, she's already become one of the worst lead character I've watched on a Korean drama, she's unsavable for me even if father Hae-il asked for her forgiveness... Dropping this series now as I don't want to feel more frustrated since I watch series to help me through my day, sorry not sorry

Going around to throw punches and cause vandalism is so pathetic. That timid detactive/cop is such a coward. He has no sense toward the bad and let himself be toyed by them. If you are waiting for the 3 protagonists to team up, it will take awhile. Actually, the prosecutor lady did help the priest many time, hiding his evidence and got transfered. I have no idea why you all hate her for being annoying and not that shameful useless cop that is an actual SPY to the priest side. If I am that priest, I would eliminate the cop that spy every moment before making a move. Im so impressed of the hiphop detective girl that ACTUALLY HELP the priest. She is the prettiest also

mangtae May 24 2021 6:16 am it's been a while since i bingewatched a kdrama because i stopped when suddenly it gets boring..with Fiery Priest i can't believe I'm down to the last 4 episodes in just 3 days. I noticed that the writer was the same one with Vincenzo. Hagin, the format and style is alike but quality wise this is wayyyyyy better than Vincenzo in sooooo many levels! Vincenzo had too much comic and less quality and character developments. I just couldn't stop cracking up with the funny scripts and facial expressions in this drama. When Father Kim dressed up as a woman in the forest... ROFL

Eso Apr 12 2021 6:23 pm Just rewatched the entirety of this show in three days and it's just as brilliant as the first couple times I watched it. I don't know why everyone hates on Lee Ha-Nee's acting when it's just as amazing as Kim Nam Gil's. It's like only men are allowed to be comedic and not women. They were both spectacularly funny and could also pull off the difficult mood changes with skill.

I love Team Tsunami! Hwang and Hoon-suk were a lot of fun too. I adore when a show can both make me laugh hysterically and sob with grief.

Lyr Apr 07 2021 12:17 am Love this drama, definitely one of my favourites. Kim Nam Gil never disappoints his acting skills are top notch. I first saw him as a supporting character in Queen Seondeok. He is such an amazing and charismatic actor. He deserved the daesang award for this drama. The acting, comedy, action and OST is on point in Fiery Priest. The supporting characters are my favourite: Song Sac, Long Dragon and Yohan. They are simply hilarious. Kudos to all the actors and production team. Looking forward to season 2.

Kim Nam Gil is such an acting genius. His expressions are all on point. His laugh is hilarious, I found out thats how he laugh in real life too lol. Im happy knowing Kim Nam Gil won daesang for his role in here. He really deserved it. Anw I really recommend u watching this. The plot makes me cant stop watching it and wanting more. I need season 2 asap. Bring back my tsunami squad.

The cast and crew should all receive an award for this show. So glad netflix uk has korean shows. Also after watching live up to your name I decided to watch this and it's worth it! Better than hollywood! I hope there will be season 2 with same actors but new story!

Elena Aug 18 2020 4:23 am For me was really but really hard to watch first episodes. The directing was so awkward, I almost dropped it. But yet I struggled to watch more and i eventually came to like it.

What made it for me so enjoyable was detective Seo. She was cute and sincere, the most sincere of all. And she really liked the priest. So I couldn't stop shipping them, though he is a priest.

On the other side, I found prosecutor Park so extremely annoying. On first half of show she did nothing good, and they were fine without her, but suddenly she changes and bosses around and everyone follows her. I couldn't quite get that. Also disliked how she was falling each time on priest's arms... and also all the sound she was making were quite annoying. Also how she was the one comforting him each time. Detective Seo deserved that spot. As she was the only one sincere from start.

As someone who loves action comedy, this is my favorite. If I could watch only one series for the rest of my life, I'd choose this. It's just so entertaining. I saw people drop this after watching just the 1st ep, you shouldn't judge this just by 1 episode, it gets so much better everytime. The comedy rises to the highest levels once all the characters have been introduced. All actors are amazing, no one can be left behind. I look forward to Season 2!!

If you're looking for serious melodrama, this may not be for you, but if you're into action comedy, this should completely be in your watch list. I've rewatched this three times and it's still as good as the first watch. Every actor did their part, love the cast esp Kim Nam Gil. He's so good at comedy, reminds me of his comedic acting in The Pirates movie. This turned me into his avid fan. Love this! 1000/100.

saranghae May 14 2020 11:03 am sorry fans dumped this drama after the 17. 18/40 epi I put lots of efforts to continue but I just got into a dead end the first few epi were ok with plot and comedy developing well but by the 8th epi the plot started disappearing and comedy took over but the problem was that when you hear a joke for the first time it makes you laugh but the 2nd time nothing happens cz you know the joke already the writer started repeating the same jokes over and over and over I got fed up and started to skip a lot just waiting for the plot to come back but cz of the skipping I got to the 18 epi very fast but the plot progressed just a bit then I sensed the writer will start the plot by the final epi which would be a lot of waste time for me also I don’t like religious themes cz they are too dogmatic and dialogues too boring and I was born and raised in a deeply devoted catholic country so I get very offended if somebody start mocking my beliefs these are what made me hesitate to watch this drama in the first place then I discovered that there were a lot of mobsters mafia martial arts kung fung karate takwendo judo nunchaku capoeira jiu jitsu kickboxing you name it etc scenes which I could’ve careless much for it I mean I hate it in all this was not a drama for me I am more mainstream family drama type moreover the jokes were extremely childish that if they wouldve shown this on sat sun 2pm slot time to accommodate the lil school kids the ratings would’ve shot up to 40% hahaha just kidding sorry fans I guess im the first to dump this drama I tried hard to finish it but the negatives were mounting this comment is not ill intended again sorry fans

A balanced mix of humor and sarcasm resonated well with the viewers. Kim Nam-Gil's brilliant acting handled sensitive topics in a very effective manner. I would give this movie 4.5 stars out of 5 and definitely recommend you to watch it.

Agatha Apr 28 2020 11:38 am If you're doubtful whether to watching this or not, then here's the sign you're looking for! Personally, the first few episodes did not really pull me in. I thought it would be dragging or smth, but I kept seeing good reviews. So I decided to continue it until ep 7 or 8, and I just got hooked! It will bring you back to Reply 1988 and Eulachacha Waikiki moments. It's so good! Everyone from the cast blends well, and the story really blooms. You'll learn a lot from this drama. The friendships and the life lessons it had impart will always be precious to me. Also, there will be unexpected turns that would let you crave for more.

In the latter part, I was hoping for KNG and LHN to develop smth more... but hey he's a priest. :( But maybe S2 will can give us that xD

Anyway, IMO this drama is somewhat underrated. I like it more than Itaewon Class.

The major problem I have is Lee Ha Nee's casting and characterization. Her face and expression looks so fake and irrespective of her circumstances she's a despicable person. The comedy scenes with her are really off-putting to the point that I don't want to continue.

The chemistry of the characters and how they portrayed their roles was absolutely astounding! I'm really REALLY happy that the cast themselves asked to have a second season. That's a very rare thing in SK dramas, especially one that the cast themselves asked for it!

And oh, don't let me get started with Kim Nam Gil. He was beyond amazinggggg. He portrayed his Catholic faith quite well and gave justice and respect to the order. His action stints were to die for! His comedic timing was truly of a veteran. And his way of conveying his emotions draws you to the screen. There was no romance in the series but I feel like wanting to take care of Father Hae Il forever. HE WAS THAT GOOD!!

20 (per netflix) episodes flew by soooo fast. It only took me 3 days to finish this despite my schedule. I'll definitely remember this drama with great fondness. A beautiful prelude for Holy Week indeed.

This drama is so funny with all those references, maybe some people didn't get the jokes but if you do know the references it'll be 300% funnier. And the action scenes are def not dissapointing. I mean how could he be so naughty, cute, hilarious and badass at the same time. Because of this drama I watched all his movies and dramas. I loved his bad guy also (epi 1-14) was awesome. Seriously he is an amazing actor, and he deserved the award too. And for this drama 10/10. Nobody will regret watching this drama. I am so happy that season 2 is also coming.

To me theres no main character that stands out cause they ALL contribute to the drama evenly and only see Nam-Gil (the priest) as the leader of a rag tag group fighting for justice in a corrupted neighbourhood. Based on just the one objective plot to this drama i hope the script writers dont rush the ending and give it an explosive finale to pave way for a second season!! 9/10 from me :)

I'am Mage Mar 17 2019 2:06 am following the Fiery Priest drama is not strong, it feels like following the Burning Sun drama, how the Pastor himself works to restore the good name of Father Lee who has been considered his own father, and many other justice needs to be questioned in drama, not to mention mouth problems knetz and if comments don't use brain after pressing it :'(

one more, same with the Prosecutor girl who really wants me to claw, why in their part (between prosecutors and pastors) there is an element of comedy that really makes lazy in that part, the story is good, but my heart hurts, many characters are right- right problematic, that's all bad attitude

I prefer detective Seo Seung-A, she's really a great girl here!!!

Acting is great , mimics are wonderfull , the other caracters are so great and funny . Topic as typical but the functioning is great and very very very funny . Soooo amazing <3

If you really want to watch, I recommend you just wait until the whole thing is out and skim through it. So much filler story. No likeable chemistry. This is only based on the first 4 episodes. I see potential and so I hope it gets better.

I truly hope he would receive this offer and make another triumph return to the small screen after last year's much appreciated Live Up to Your Name drama. It'll be crazily exciting to see him in an investigative drama + playing a cold character again. The writer is the same person who's responsible for the amazing Good Manager/Chief Kim so i'm sure it won't a bit dissapointed me. Since the leading actress hasn't been secured yet i'd like to voice my own suggestion on it lol. I'd like to see Kim Nam Gil to star alongside Jin Kin Joo, the actress who starred as the female lead in Come Here and Hug Me. She might be a rookue actress but she sure has great potential to becoming a great actress. Eugene or Hang Jeung Eum are great too since we all know they're some of the best seasoned korean actresses among their peers
