So-Young (Youn Yuh-Jung) is 65 years old. She supports herself by working as a prostitute for older men. She becomes popular among the elderly men through word-of-mouth. She enjoys peaceful days with her neighbors like her transgender landlady Ti-Na, poor figurine artist Do-Hoon, kopino boy Min-Ho and others. One day, her former regular client Song asks her to kill him. She becomes conflicted with guilt and sympathy, but she lets him die. Since then, others ask her to kill them.

Alanah May 11 2018 3:52 pm this film isn't a tear jerker but rather it was an interesting eye opener of how neglected the elderly are in South Korea, in a rapidly growing economy they are left behind, remnants of the Korean War. our lead is an incredibly strong woman who has had to fend for herself all her life. she still however remains compassionate, starting the movie by taking in this young boy when she has little money of her own. we see how many systems there are in place to protect children, but virtually none for the elderly, and this is becomes the focus as the film progresses. the film eludes feelings of loneliness and despair in all the characters, and the ending isn't happy either so i can see how it may not be to everyone's tastes. also i appreciate the representation of transgender and amputee characters, and most of all the elderly, whose story is rarely heard. props to E J-Yong for making us all listen.
