Bio
Takaaki Watanabe fist started as a documentary filmmaker. Watanabe directed documentaries like "Living on Kotobuki Street" - documenting the social problems around the slum areas in Yokohama. He was trained at the famous Ogawa Productions collective. Takaaki Watanabe then branched out into the fictional world with the 1995 FIPRESCI award-winning film "Alice Sanctuary". His follow-up, the fantasy "Maiden of the Spring", won Best Director at the 6th International Film Festival of Kerala.
