Kennin Gido (Kei Tanaka) is a detective. He belongs to a mysterious division at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. He is the only member in the division. There, Kennin Gido reinvestigates cases that received not guilty verdicts. He searches through testimony and evidence from those cases to catch the real criminals. Kennin Gido is called "Shinigami" ("Grim Reaper") by those around him.

Grandmalee Nov 21 2021 2:42 pm The stories of this drama series are interesting and well told, dropping little hints along the way that are, sort of, pulled together in the last episode. The way "Shinigami" (played by Kei Tanaka) picks his sidekick for every case sounds funny, but are people really that naive or gullible to take him for what his minimalist name-card says he is? Shinigami is a weirdo, and his mannerisms say as much, so his make-up and costumes seem excessive in making the point (not Kei Tanaka's fault, for he does his acting part convincingly). The last episode promises a second season, which will be looked forward to, if only to find out what Mei Minamikawa (played by Atsuko Maeda) is up to.
