In the summer of 1980, Army Doctor Kim Do-Jin (Koo Kyo-Hwan) is dispatched to a small health clinic in a village located within the Punchbowl area of the DMZ.
One day, an apartment sized robot from outer space makes an emergency landing in the Punchbowl. Kim Do-Jin reports the situation, but his call is not taken seriously due to the outlandishness of his claim. At first, Kim Do-Jin is fearful of the robot, but, as time passes, he develops a friendship with the robot and even names the robot Cheol-Yi. Meanwhile, mysterious spaceships approach Earth and some groups begin to pay attention to the Punchbowl area.
