For her 19th life, she begins to live as Ban Ji-Eum (Shin Hae-Sun). Whenever she is reborn, from age 8 to age 12, she begins to remember all of her previous lives. After that, she lives her life with memories from all of her previous lives. She hates remembering all her of previous lives and whenever she faces the end of her life, she jopes that she will never be reborn or remember her previous lives. In her 18th life, when she was Yoon Joo-Won and 12 years old, she met a kid named Mun Seo-Ha. They became very close. In her current 19th life and as Ban Ji-Eum, she again meets Mun Seo-Ha (Ahn Bo-Hyun). He is now all grown up. Ban Ji-Eum is fully aware of whoMun Seo-Ha is and approaches him with affection.

Meanwhile, when Mun Seo-Ha was a kid, he lost people that he loved, including his first love Yoon Joo-Won. Since then, he has refused to have relationships with other people. His life changes due to the appearance of the strange woman named Ban Ji-Eum.

Loved the OST, reminded me of "My Love From the Star" and "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho"!

Overall recommended, just not enthralled with the two main characters/characterizations?

Rc137 Oct 14 2023 9:33 pm I loved this drama! Top 10 kdrama for 2023. I liked how Ji Eum’s 18 previous lives were incorporated into her 19th life. All the actresses were beautiful. All of Chowon’s outfits screamed “rich girl” but looked so good on her. Unlike what some commenters said, there were no “plot holes”, wasn’t rushed and everything made sense. When Ji Eum forgot her past lives, I wondered if that meant she would forget all the other languages she knew (besides Korean) and how to fight. I liked how the people in her life reinserted themselves in her life. I want to watch the drama again. Give this drama 10 stars :)

Brooklynienne Sep 30 2023 10:19 pm The scene where the FL remembers her first life and then reacts to the ML was Epic Acting. Shin Hye-Sun is such an incomparable actress. She's as good as the older actresses and top tier for her cohort. Excellent.

Many people say this was rushed, but I disagree. I liked the pacing and didn't worry about small details because the drama had a theme to convey: Let your burdens down and forgive or they will be an albatross for your eternity, whatever that may be.

I'm not gonna lie a lot of shows this year fails to interest me but this one was so good, especially that pilot episode! The only thing I didn't like was the first life storyline, idk I was expecting something more than that,, it was just all very confusing, the whole time i was watching i was like "okay? So this all happened because of that?" I rather wanna see them in a palace type of setting to make it more interesting, I haven't seen the webtoon yet but idk just felt like the first past life didn't made sense to me and needed more depth.

Interesting storyline, but I thought she came across as more of a mother figure to Ahn Bo Hyun than a girlfriend at times, and the writers did not give him much of a personality in this one, but it wrapped up nicely and Ahn Bo Hyun actually made the ending perfect.

What character should he be portraying though? I dont understand his character at all. This drama sound like a promise but it feel rushed. I stayed because of Shin Hyesun. They have zero chemistry I have to say it at least.

But I enjoyed watching glimpse of her previous lives even if they end tragically. Shin Hye Sun delivered and left no crumbs. Hoping she'll get an award for this phenomenal role. The ending felt rush for me, and same thoughts with @see you in my 20th life, they wrapped it up perfectly.

Memme Jul 24 2023 4:13 pm I enjoyed Shin Hye-sun's performance for sure, however none of these characters had much of a personality IMO. I'm assuming that has more to do with the writing. And what was with the repeated throwback scenes??? As if the audience needed to be reminded in every episode how Ju-Won died. Also, was it ever explained the relationship between Seo-ha's dad and Do-yun? I felt like he was being blackmailed but the show never expanded upon this. Overall, the series had a good premise but it fell flat for me.

See You Jul 23 2023 9:36 pm As "See You in My 19th Life" webtoon and Shin Hye Sun fans, I'm gonna be lying if I said "Wow, I'm satisfied". Actually, it could've been better if it was 16 Ep or at least 14 Ep.

I read a rumour that this drama could've been 16 Ep and takes Mon-Tue tvN slot. But due to fit in (removed to) Sat-Sun slot, they had to cut it into 12 Ep [to fit others second half tvN drama which all of the line up are 12 Ep]. Many scenes got cut and makes the flow of story becomes kinda awkward.

The music sometimes mismatch with the scenes, the editing kinda sucks (think it is as due to limited ep, so they cut many scenes), the screen writer makes things to complicated to be solved within 12 Ep, and I'm sorry that I must pointed at the director too, eventhough IMO Ep 1-4, 6, and 9 are amazing. Too much unnecessary flashback that wasting time.

Not the best adaptation, but not the worst adaptation. Worth-watching because the moral of the story.

I blame the screenwriter + the music placement because they are the worst for wasting good actors like that.

Pat Jul 23 2023 8:24 am tvN consistently has the best Korean dramas, so I am not surprised by the quality of any of their productions. They are a small cable station so of course most dramas won't have astronomical ratings. That doesn't reflect on the quality of the show. This drama was very cool with the reincarnation angle. You get a taste of many past eras in Korean history, even if they didn't spend a huge amount of time on them. I wish this drama had gone to 12 episodes. All the actors were fine, especially the lead actress. She went from a ballet dancer in Angel's Last Mission: Love, to a car automobile here! She also sang in Hymn Of Death. Amazing talent. The new Ye Jin Son!

SandraR Jul 22 2023 10:50 pm Okay, okay . . . she went through 19 lives, you'd think she'd know by now as it is written: "for one who is born death is certain; for one who dies birth is certain". Why then, fall apart when remembering the death of her sister in a past life? She would have realised the body dies but the individual soul, the host of that body goes on. Perhaps she was just re-living the emotions of a moment in that particular past life. I'll go with that.

The second female lead is nice too, though I have no idea why she likes the second male lead. He is a bore! Never smiles, seems morose. Reincarnation stories are very creative, in general, and this one is memorable. I am kind of sad this nice drama is ending at only twelve episodes. I've really looked forward to watching it every week. Good work, cast and crew!

Jillibean Jul 21 2023 3:30 pm I love this drama, it reminds me of some classic Korean dramas of the past twenty years, where sweet attraction and humor between the two leads is the primary storyline and focus, and deservedly so; I like that the male lead character is a gentlemanly type and isn't cruel to the girl. I think the cinematography and sets are gorgeous, like the classic Four Seasons' dramas that began the worldwide Hallyu Wave two decades ago. Obviously a lot of thought went into creating them. The actors are all great, and I was quite impressed by the child actors. I actually cried at the end of episode four - so beautiful! I am hoping for a happy ending to this series this coming weekend. It's the kind of Korean drama that I will surely be watching again in future.

I know they can't make the drama a carbon copy of the webtoon but certain changed details annoys me e.g. her dancing the flamingo. I've stopped on ep9, didn't even finish it and have no desire to.

Ahn Bo Hyun(ML) is not to be blamed(as some comments are). He is 1 of the best there is. The webtoon(ic?) character and face, being fragile and passive is needed. Hoping in the coming episodes will give a go.

Started ok but down hill. Jul 11 2023 4:40 pm I started to watch this drama and first couple of episode were interesting. Lots of interesting twists so hard to get all of it without some scratching of heads.

FL is doing well and I agree with others saying that quirkiness from the Mr. Queen (which I enjoyed) has flowed into this drama. The ML is Pretty Bad as with other 2nd lead actors in the drama. It is getting harder to watch towards later episode.

I think it is nice to think about lost family, finding and rejoicing that all of us may have some desire. This part is ok but the actor/actresses has definitely ruined this one especially the ML and 2nd ML.

Her lead male actor however does not match the strength of her portrayal. Their chemistry is weak, unlike her partnership with Rowoon (The King's Affection) and Kim Jung-hyun (Mr. Queen).

future kdrama star Jul 07 2023 8:17 am i love this drama. it is quirky, emotional, romantic, fun with mystery and beautiful cinematography. 19th Life ticks every box for me. it would be cool to remember past lives but it would be painful to see your family and friends mourning over you. everyone in the drama is acting well. the kid actors are so amazing. Shin Hye Sun and Ahn Bo-Yun are excellent lead actors. FL is refreshing. She is stubborn, strong and determined to find her true love. we are halfway through at episode 6 but there is so much of the story to develop. it deserves 16 episodes.

Ahn Bo-Hyun’s acting is so cute and he’s so handsome. While Shin Hye-Sun’s acting is amazing as usual. Their visuals are wow! Great cinematography. I’d also like to commend the child actors who portrayed their young characters very well.

It's fun, has me in my feelings, makes my cheek rise from happiness, their simple interactions even have me blushing, and their chemistry is so natural. Also love the acting of the supporting cast. If you're thinking of watching this, please do! You won't regret it, even the child actors acting is great compared to current airing dramas.

I think that's why they do lots of her face shots, more for her face expression, than simply for beauty. The things that are still puzzling me are 1) Why Ju Won likes Seo Ha that much when they were kids? the drama didn't go too deep on this. Also 2) Why Seo Ha hates Ju Won sister (Cho Won) that much? I hope to find some answers in later episodes. Will continue watching. Great cinematography too.

First, hand it to Netflix. Without question, the new k-dramas airing on Netflix tend to be better produced and visually more appealing than what is available elsewhere. This show is gorgeously staged and shot, and Shin Hye-Sun is perfect. While the plot may not be wholly logical, it's easy to understand and flows nicely. On the surface this is a love story, but the most interesting scenes are about sisterhood, family, and loss. Thumbs up through four episodes.

The story is the same of course, but how they made the known plot into something new is good. There were changes (i'm still shookt about chowon's background in the drama, making her a flowerist from being an entertainment company heiress). The changes made the expected plot interesting and the cinematography enticed me. The casts' acting also made the character into something idk the term, humanized? or Relatable? Far from 2d characters I've felt and seen just by reading. They gave life to my babies and the main leads are exceptional. My spring sunshine yoon kyung is also lovable as always.

My own glimpses into past lives typically happen when I'm asleep. Even a brief recall in a dream is almost emotionally unbearable. And it's not necessarily a negative experience. When it's a positive experience the heartache is often too intense; I find myself torn by a strong desire to return to that former life while knowing it isn't correct to indulge.

All that said; I'm going to enjoy this drama.

Mimi Jun 19 2023 12:20 am As someone who read the webtoon, I know this has a great plot and set of characters but the only thing stopping me from watching it is Ahn Bohyun. I think he's a great actor but I just don't see him as Seoha. In the webtoon, Seoha looks frail and gets sick easily while Jieum seems like an outright person, that creates the dynamic between them but with ABH, I just don't see that. I still really want to watch the show, so for now I'll just see how things turn out.

Also, I commend the production team for the scenes showing Ji-eum's past lives. Imagine staging a Joseon-era scene which will only be showed for a few seconds.

Nice Jun 17 2023 8:45 pm The portray of the story and the way its presented is kind of different in the Webtoon. In the webtoon, the whole thing about Seo-ha and Ju Won (Ban Ji Eum 18th life) was presented in the beginning. The whole dynamics from Seo-ha disliking Ju Won in the beginning to their accidents were presented in the first 3-4 Chapters of the webtoon. I guess this is my only complaint about the first episode. For people wanting to understand more why Ju Won "obsessed" with Seo-ha, you guys should read the first 4 chapter of the webtoon (it should be free for the first chapters).

I reckon they will try to explain Seo-ha and Ju Won through Seo-ha's memory instead of presenting it as "the life of Ju Won", to put the emphasize on how much impact his Ju Won nuna to his life.

Anyway, other than that, the first episode has it all. From comedy, sadness, happiness, and romance. I liked that they presented more about Ji-eum's childhood. But what hooked me the most was how Ju Won's actor nailed Ju Won to the core. It was brief (for the moment), but it was the most memorable part of the first episode.

Curious Jun 17 2023 4:41 pm Why ju won was so attracted to seo ha made no sense, as in he bumps into her, runs away, she sees him again, he rudely pulls her into the pool and she goes like he is the most intruiging thing she has ever seen and becomes obsessed with him, ae kying and her bond was written well so their bond was understandable but ju won and seo ha was beyond me, .

It's like first time she sees him and immediately gets interested in him which felt weird as he was a super rude kid, then even in upcoming scenes she gets more interested in him even though he was so rude, for a viewer the whole connection seemed shallow then when they become friends from there writers didn't show a good enough bonding that one would have felt their attachment. Don't get me wrong but i literally never saw anything in their hond for one to understand and 2ndly even though they were kids and she was older she seemed to be attracted to him romantically, it felt that way because of how purposely some scenes were shot when 2 kids were together. Their bond felt very shallow and even though their adult life parts were good but due to finding their bond lacking something feels missing in adult parts.

Having said that one really has to say why always korean child actors always outshine senior actors specially those whose childhoods they play? All 3 kids ban ji eum, seo ha, ju won were exceptionally good.

Cinematography is extremely beautiful, and loactions too. Ahn bo hyun and shin hye sun look ethereal. Ban ji eum's convo with ae kyoung was extremely well written , please add more ji eum and ae kyong scenes as uncle and niece.

Hope it gets better, very promising start. One question why only ju won is reborn why not seo ha or other characters.

Seo-Ha has a huge psychological trauma and is a very sensible person, but he strong physically and knows how to fight. There's one episode when he fights a gang almost alone.

As we can see in My Name and Itaweon Class, Ahn Bo-Hyun knows how to portrait complex and vulnerable feelings very well even having a very strong physic. I'm sure he's going to nail it!

ML is kind of Im Siwon vibe. It's be better if they choose FL who is kind of young(20s) and savage and beautiful. As It's difficult to portray current casts while reading it. But, I like them in other project.
