Ra Yi-Eon’s (TaecYeon) dream is to buy a small dumpling restaurant and run the business. He wants an easy going life, but he is smart enough to pass the state examination that he has just taken. He now begins work in the Office of Special Advisors, which is an elite course to succeed as a government officer. He is then appointed a royal secret agent, where he is tasked with secret missions. It is a great honor for Ra Yi-Eon and his family that he is now a royal secret agent. At his home, he still maintains an easy going life and he doesn't work hard as a royal secret agent. His life changes when he meets Kim Joy (Kim Hye-Yoon).

Kim Joys mind is full of curiosity. She also has a progressive mindset for the Joseon period, where she thinks it is okay to divorce. She married her husband three years ago and she is now trying to divorce him. Her husband is addicted to gambling and is a mama's boy. Her husband also refuses to divorce her. Finally, when Kim Joy is about to conclude her divorce procedure, she meets Ra Yi-Eon.

Royal Secret Agent Ra Yi-Eon and Kim Joy work together to solve cases.

Marathon24 Jan 22 2023 11:12 pm It is a good drama with an interesting story and plot twist. It is also quite funny and fun to watch. The chemistry between the main leads is so good, so that their romantic scene is fun to watch and not boring. Love it. Sageuk drama never disappoints me.

Naz Dec 31 2022 10:59 pm Surprisingly, my feelings actually match the ratings. Overall, this was a great drama - pacing, characters, comedy, storyline, and acting. But I found that I was losing interest as the series went on, especially around ep 9 and 10 because the comedy wasn't quite there anymore (maybe because so many characters were now part of the entourage that it took away from the simplicity of the trio and Jo Yi. That is not to say that I didn't enjoy the side characters but I did miss the good old days and their comedic interaction. And not hating on Jo Yi but her voice went from husky to really high-pitched, and because of my hearing sensitivity, her voice just really grated on my nerves every time she spoke. I would rewatch the first few episodes but not the entire show, but I have to say that this show definitely deserves more attention and praise!

Jammer Jan 11 2022 1:42 am there is no doubt the series is so enjoyable to watch ... their acting are also commendable ... the only thing is Taecyeon is so tall for Kim Hye-Yoon and looking at them together I find a little bit awkward ... especially when they both sit near the river where Taecyeon lean on Kim Hye-Yoon after reading his earlier dismissal order. And also when they kiss while in the middle of the field ... Kim Hye-Yoon is so too short ... Cha Hak-Yeon's height is much better for her ... just the same Kim Hye-Yoon is very pretty ...

Nurkamsi Jan 10 2022 10:59 pm I love Lee Jae Kyoon's acting. First scene of him I was like wondering where did I see him before and turned out he played the informant in The Veil too. In that drama too, he showed great performance especially when he was tortured (I hated NGM for being late to save him). Apart from his character who has more depth than the other characters, he really portrayed the character greatly. I couldn't help myself pitying him although his character is the villain. His expressions and especially eyes really showed well especially when showing suppressed anger. His and Choi Tae Hwan's acting are the scene stealer of this show.

And for those who are wondering if the King and Crown Prince story was true or not (like me who was curious), I think it would be about King Injo and Crown Prince Sohyeon. You can read about it. Yi-eon said briefly when he encountered the King, saying he is jealous so he decided to kill his own son. Although English searches don't really mention about it, but I think he was indeed jealous of his own son. He even went to the extend of sending the Prince's wife and sons to exile and sentenced the Prince's wife to death and even her family were executed too.

I watched that episode at work, during lunch hour, my desk was a literal puddle of tears. His expression shows it all, it's heartbreaking T.T I've been watch kDrama for 20 years (since 4th grade) yet i just recognized him in the Veil (his acting was excellent there as well), huhu. Hope he'll become much more famous and get more lead roles later!

The previous 7 episodes are funny, silly, warm, sweet like everyone here mentioned, couldn't agree more bout that >< A literal no brainer, not tragic and complicated like most Sageuk drama. A perfect choice if You desire something fun and light after a heavy ones like crime-thriller drama

A totally experienced cast of skilled energetic actors breathed life into this screenplay which was good but not great. I chose this drama because of Taecyeon who didn’t disappoint. Taecyeon is always eager to stretch his acting skills into new & unknown places which is what makes him so effective. Kim Hye Yoon was quite the firecracker which this drama needed. The wonderful treat & surprise were the memorable performances of Choi Tae Hwan & Lee Jae Kyoon. Choi developing a vile character, the epitome of evil and Lee, a angry textured tragic figure. Both so bad but oh so good. The screenplay touched on many contemporary issues within this period piece but somehow lacked as part to bring it to a higher level. Again, the inspired acting by this cast brought it home.

Spoiler : for example when they had to catch the culprits, they did it so fast so you don’t get annoyed or stressed. Other dramas spend other 2 episodes just to catch them. Also when YiEon had to persuade the king to continue with the investigations, he immediately agreed. Idk it’s rare to feel so satisfied with nowadays dramas. Anyways this drama is amazing.

Anyway, ok taecyon really improved. He no longer has this flower boy image!!! He takes on comical roles and he looks comfortable doing it! I am so happy for u dude! I hope you will have more diverse characters! The main lead actress, well she's always consistent. I'd love for her to have diverse roles though. The not so innocent ones.

Overall the drama was good. Storyline something I had probably seen before but it still kept me glued to the screen. You will hate the evil characters but not necessarily loathe them.

As always the overall video production is nice. I didnt see any danglng wires.

They don't focus on romance that much which is why i like it but it's cute tho not that cliche like most of kdrama. The chemistry on point esp bts. It's just perfect to me despite the historical drama which is not my fav type of genre. Like Taecyeon said this drama is a healing after Vincenzo. ❤

Sungsumg Dec 09 2021 1:58 pm It's a lighthearted comedy to watch when you want something easy on the brain. It's not stressful because the good guys keep winning and the bad guys keep losing. It's not for you if you don't like slap stick comedy though. That's not the show's fault. It was always advertised as a campy romcom and it fulfils that promise.

Also Kim Hye Yoon's acting is amazing in this. She's cheerful in the light fun scenes and cries beautifully in the sad scenes. Her meeting with her mum was really emotional. Her anger at the world when her mum-in-law was abusing her or when her friend was not getting justice felt real.

Another gem is Lee Jae Kyun. The scene with his family in ep 8 felt like it was from a movie. He delivers complex emotions with great charisma. He gets you really wondering about what is going on in the character's mind.

Don't like Yook chil. He's too loud and obnoxious.

Love the friendship between the 3 ladies. They really became a family for each other.

The romance is a slow burn. The characters go from really disliking each other, to tolerating each other to really liking each other. So if you expect insta love or more focus on the romance you'll be disappointed. But I think it's worth the wait. Episode 9 with its ending was very cute and lovely.

They are also very rude to the point that I don't find their rudeness funny anymore. Sometimes I simply want to slap them. I find it weird that the servants are so daring and bold towards their master. I know it's because Yi-Eon treats them very well but they often forget their own place as a servant.

Their conversations and interactions will change Tae-Seo for the better. I'm quite bored during the first 3 episodes but now that I see there's a potential for this trope, I can't wait for next week's episode!

I'd love it if Tae-Seo end up kidnapping Jo-Yi to bait Yi-Eon, but on the process, finding Jo-Yi as attractive and end up falling in love with her, wanting her for himself so he hates Yi-Eon not only because he is someone he must kill, but also due to jealousy. That must be so exciting!! I can see the way he looks at Jo-Yi in 4th episode, a look of both amusement and excitement. He even insists on kissing her, aaaaaaaa

The comedy element looks forced, the story doesn't have a natural flow but rather a push towards something. A beautiful screenplay had to flow naturally like water and I don't find it with the first 2 episodes yet. Will watch 2 more to decide whether i would continue watching or drop it.

dewe Nov 09 2021 11:21 pm It's unavoidable to draw parallels to Royal Secret Agent with L and Nara, and personally I prefer that one (esp since I like both leads there better). The concept and idea of both series are very similar, unless they come up with something distinct the only unique selling point of this drama will be the leads Taecyeon and Hye-yoon - both of whom I am just okay with. Will probably give it til episode 2 before deciding to drop or continue (as of episode 1, it's a drop)

Diz Nov 09 2021 9:26 pm I almost can't get over how obnoxious the editing is...I get the editor is trying to be modern with the jump cuts and split screens but they are often unmotivated and extremely distracting. I'm trying to give it a try because I love the leads but I am cringing here...but great job episode one making me hate the mother-in-law because she is ridiculously on my nerves! Good actress selection.

Perhaps in the support side, Yi-Kyung made his contribution better than the bumbling 2 sidekicks. Nara too, shines but its too early to judge pretty Hye-Yoon. Let's get it on taecyeon.

And with all of the mystery going on this will be fun to watch. Also i just want to dhare something, hyeyoon is my fav actress and taecyeon is my bias in 2pm, how amazing is that?
