Kei (Kazuya Kamenashi) is a contemporary dancer. He keeps taking auditions for foreign dance companies, while working part-time jobs. Although talented, Kei has yet to pass an audition.

One the day he learns has a failed another audition, Kei becomes depressed and feels like he wants to die. He then sees Yui Nishihara (Kyoko Fukada). Kei is captivated by her.

Yui is in her 30's and a teacher at prestigious female high school. She is having an affair with a colleague who has a wife and a child. She isn't happy with her situation. Not knowing that Kei is looking at her, she walks across a passage connecting two buildings at her school.

Nick Nov 21 2018 11:18 am Destiny Thank you for that, I do agree and I was very happy to discover they are a real couple (explains the authentic relationship). I thought this was strong in the social stigma attached to women relating to men of differing age unless they (men) are rich and popular - it seems a cross cultural trait. The Japanese are so straightforward and honest about their sexual lives. I didn't feel this was really about lust so much as passion. It was also very much about taking strength from someone else's belief in you. The drama showed that not just for Yui and Kei but also Kei and his ex-girlfriend. It was refreshing to have an ending that hinted at 'happy-ever-after' and suggest the two lovers still had only each other in their hearts but had also achieved more balance in their individual lives. Having watched a (current) Chinese love story to episode 50 (of 60 - 80) episodes and found the writing and direction grow slipshod and lazy without character development (more like regression) this was refreshing. It brought tears welling up but also happiness. It was believable and life affirming.

There were bed scenes in every episodes but it was not that kind of hot bed scenes but I thought it was more sexy, artistic, and beautiful. Kame and fukakyon made a good combi and they looked so beautiful. I think I ship them lol. The story was good and I like Misia's song so much rather than kat-tun's song *sorry

Destiny Jul 25 2016 9:34 pm I really enjoyed this drama. Both actors did a great job and they have great on screen chemistry. I guess that is because they are seriously dating in real life. A very cute couple, I hope they don't , let the fact that she makes more money than him ruin their relationship. She's so pretty and wow what great dance moves he had! He reminds me a bit of Tomohisa Yamashita in his acting style and persona on screen. I would like to see her play with Haruma miura or Matsuda shots or Kengo kora.

anney May 19 2015 6:51 am just finished watching this drama n i love it. thy fell inlove so fast but i wish it was longer. 7 episodes isnt enough, it should be 10-12 episodes. Kyoko is so pretty and Kazuya is amazing in this drama.

Katkai Mar 22 2015 8:17 am Such a wonderful drama. I have been a fan of Kyoko ever since SOS, and she never failed me with her gift in acting. Kamenashi has also been a very surprising actor. He has the gift of portraying his character like he's real being. Both of these actors have explored there possibilities and the end product is this drama. Short but very concise. The ending speaks for itself. Patience in any relationships and dreams gives an overwhelming achievement and happiness. Looking forward for another subarashii drama!

It is with regret that Second Love "Get in late, Get out Early". Second Love with intricately woven plots depicts 5 stages that also manifested in real people as people struggle with real life. These stages are: 1. Recognition of the problem. 2. Frustration 3. Confrontation 4. Withdrawal and, 5. Resolution. Someone said this:There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. Therefore the key to having more patience is to recognize what stage of patience we are in and following God’s timing for when to make the moves to resolve the situation. Therefore there is a time to endure and a time to stop enduring and get busy with the resolving. Often at the height of our impatience,we say and do things that are not as powerful as our absence and as our silence would be.So, Second Love demonstrates that "ABSENCE MAKES THE HEART GROW FONDER"...and not "OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND". Ganbatte kudasai Second Love drama team! I pray and wish and hope that there is a "Third Encounter of Love"...with Kamenashi Kazuya kun as protagonist and focus on the perils of crossing borders...complex and difficult yet, never lost but full of a human winning fighting spirit! ym Mar 19 2015 11:35 pm Five episodes in, the Kei character is proving the doubters right. I feel sorry for the Nishihara character. She keeps being used by men. I hope the ending will be that she realizes she doesn't need these lousy men in her life to be happy. She should get away from all the leeches in her life, including the mom.

After the second episode I was relieved that both Kei and Yui are resolute and able to stick to their guns and not falter because of the earlier boyfrined of Yuri and her mother's mental illness. Episode 4 was a smooth episode with success for both and especially Kei. So good and happy that.

The preview for 5 left me with a sense of uneasiness and I hope the unhappiness of the former boyfriend and the mother will not interfere with the relationship of Yuri and Kei. I hope they will endure. But knowing dramas as I do, I have this fear factor that something tragic could happen to Yuri or Kei and I will just hate it if my premonition is accurate. I want them to be successful and escape the ties that bind.

janecast Mar 04 2015 10:26 pm I like the story so far the main characters Kei (kamenashi) and Yui (fukada) play well they're both coming from a place that is desperate. Kei is going through a really bad slump gets kicked out of a dancing company and is replaced immediately. Yui is in a rut as well she still lives her mom (Yui is 33 I think) her life is redundant and boring and she's having an affair with a coworker and he has kids and a family; plus her mother clearly has a psychological problem that stems from her divorce (she needs counseling for sure I can tell and I'm not even a doctor). These two characters come together (in a cheesy way but who cares) and it's what they both need. It's a slow start but if you can get through it, it picks up because as soon as they're lives start to pick up and they're happy peoples lives around them start to crumble.

Second Love Ep 4 2015.02.27 Please forgive me… I am not taking away all their hard effort in making this into a great drama… I respect all the “blood, sweat and tears” that go into this drama to be successfully put on screen. From I have read on drama, scene and character analysis …This is what I feel about Second Love… Episode 4 should have come in as the first episode and the certain scenes in the previous 3 episodes should be used as flashback when necessary to connect the story. I understand people say ‘Open with a hook!’ to grab the viewer. That’s so true, but there’s a fine dividing line between an intriguing hook and one that’s just a “put-off” especially an overtly sexual scene that comes in too early too fast too soon. Especially so when the body language from Yui san does not accentuate the essence of the lovemaking act. A story that opens on the protagonist’s loser mental reflection of their situation is waving a RED flag. I want to see the protagonist with a “fighter mentality” and not one that seem to give up. The first 2 episodes are an ‘information dump’ ….with too much exposition – when they go beyond what is necessary for simply ‘setting the scene’, where the episode is a road map for the rest of the drama . I enjoy when the drama has a good balance between exposition and mystery. Too much accounting always ruins the mystery of a drama, and the unknown is what propels us to watch further. Humans love mystery! I should be made curious about the drama characters, fill my heads with questions that must be answered, and not fill them in on exactly where, when, who and how. Getting to know characters in a story is like getting to know people in real life. We find out their personality and details of their life over time.

Make the protagonist’s character vulnerable, naked, without protection.

Get to listen in . Inner dialogue and thought reveal truth. They reveal darkness. They reveal hope or dreams or resignation. They reveal emotions or beliefs too painful to be shared with other characters. They reveal the heart. They reveal despair of the soul. They reveal strength of the spirit. Whew! it has improved their lovemaking. I guess it's because it is believable and "makes us want to do it"!!!!. It was very sweet and delicate beautiful lovemaking scene…. I see it private. Here , I can believe the rumour that Kamenashi Kazuya kun is heading for marriage with Fukoda Kyoko san. In all the 4 episodes I have seen the lovemaking scenes with a lot of exposure and sometimes an awkward lovemaking scene, but the lovemaking scene in episode 4 is beautiful…. Beautiful spur of the moment sensuality ...the little things that occur to spark passion and ultimately love. Getting hot and heavy in our love life doesn't have to start big.... little things pack big punches that can lead to so much pleasure we want to die from it. I believe that Second Love will garner a much stronger following after this 4th episode. But my hidden desire to whisper...I would have wanted that they killed off Yui san's character and make a sequel to Second Love focusing on Kei kun and his many challenges in life, love and work...and this time, throw in humour as an additional "hook" to the drama. Still, I am rooting for Second Love to end with a BIG BANG in the viewers' ratings. The drama team worked hard...my personal feelings is that the only setback is too many close-up on "Bambi Eyes".

This drama allows us, the viewers , the independence to take a stand on the different perspectives and different choices depicted by the protagonists .This is a “ First” for me…. we have Kei kun as both a hero and anti-hero mingle and mix in the viewer ‘s perception and an anti –heroine ( Yui san ) as the protagonists personifying various principles and attitudes of which among some I do not approve of, or even disapprove of…. Especially that of Yui san whose line of loyalty in this drama can changed considerably…Yui san is an opportunistic woman who waver and strays. Her married lover is not physically handsome, so Yui san has to be attracted to him on other aspects of his character..his caring nature. But, this means nothing at all to Yui san...5 years of relationship went down the drain... the moment a hot-looking young man stands before her...that is it! That means Yui san used her married lover as an outlet for her sexual frustrations. This is what the “camera in my head” sees…. Kei kun is not a perfect human being but he is making the best of his imperfect personality and circumstances. In this first episode, Kei kun is so proud and prejudiced…but I trust in future episodes that follow…Kei kun will show us how Kei kun turns pride into dignity and prejudice into insight and that meaning in life is not given, but meaning in life must be achieved. Kei kun is particularly an interesting character. I am looking forward to seeing how Kei kun reacts to obstacles for his development if Kei kun needs to develop. . I am looking forward to seeing how Kei kun reacts to occasions that call for his resistance , if Kei kun needs to oppose change. I am looking forward to seeing how Kei kun reacts to obstacles for his achievement of happiness. Kei kun makes us live inside him. The first episode of Second Love highlights both Kei kun and Yui san , in all their diversities , will bear an equal weight within this drama. However, where is the heroine who can match the hero Kei kun? I leave it to someone else to defend Yui san’s but I myself, wish to pass my own judgment. It is rather difficult for me to accept the reality of the world with which I am presented by Yui san. Yui san has too beautiful a face and too great a body to fail as a model and Yui san comes across as a very nice naïve girl in a woman’s body…so, I cannot understand why she had no other choice in life other than embarking a 5-year love affair with a man who has no charisma……not to mention that he is married and not good looking in an obvious way. Yui san’s deserves better and Yui san can get better choice than this with the advantages that God has given her – awesome beauty and brains. Anyway, it does not help the drama by slotting in a commercial of Kyoko Fukada san...this defeats the premise of "YUI san" personal failure in the commercial world because Fukada san in the commercial used identical eyes mannerisms and similiar dressing style as Yui san . Conveying of emotion is more than just words and tone. Posture and gestures add to the effect and make it realistic.Therefore, Yui san’s character needs to be more animated. Yui san’s gorgeous face and forever playing with her doe-eyes cannot serve as substitutes to emotions.Sometimes, I feel Yui san goes a little ..overboard with her eyes expression. One of the most consistently expressionless feats .. repetitive… Yui san’s emotion is a pendulum between staring heavily , and…well…staring more heavily with her beautiful doe eyes. Actually, Yui san's seems forever flirting with her eyes...uses "widening eyes" technique- submissive eye expressions .. the “sticky eyes” technique,where her eyes stay glued on Kei san, even during a period of silence.It does get tiring on our eyes, though...Oops , sorry...I should speak for myself...tiring on my eyes. Before anyone has thoughts of assasinating me please allow me to proclaim this :" I REALLY DO WANT KAMENASHI KAZUYA KUN'S DRAMA TO DO WELL...VERY VERY WELL." I just hope "Yui san breathe more life as life goes on" because Yui san must be able to connect with the woman inside us, girls...make us go inside her mind and heart and make us feel and care for Yui san. As it is, I find great difficulty to like Yui san. Hey, I am not jealous...in this drama my eyes only "see Kei kun...and no one else", if I were to say I am looking at Kamenashi Kazuya kun in this drama...I am insulting Kamenashi Kazuya kun's acting abilities. We all know Kamenashi Kazuya kun is a good actor.Yui san needs to touch the hands of our heart...right now, please correct me if I am wrong, Yui san is sadly quite a far distance away. For the moment, the way I see it...the hook of the drama is "SEX"....showing skin and more skin..."THIS LOOKS LIKE FUN, WHAT THE **** IS IT?"....Luckily, we have Kei kun as someone to hold onto, someone to care about, someone to turn in to see.Ganbatte kudasai Kamenashi Kazuya kun!

Flo Feb 18 2015 4:49 pm After the first 2 episodes, it's quite boring honestly. Almost nothing happens except for the fact that in every episode they meet to sleep together. Really slow and uninteresting plot... Just the fact that the main actors are good-looking it's not enough to save this drama. I could just look at their pictures if I want to admire their beauty. Perfect sleeping pill for me.

Kame's movie Joker Game premieres on January 31 which is probably why they postponed the start of the dorama it a little.

And besides, as the year passes kame becomes more and more gorgeous and sexy. He's like a wine. The more it ages, the more it tastes good. It's time to flaunt his assets. Well, I don't know yet if he'll show his sexiness here but I hope he will. Omedetou gozaimasu and gambatte kudasai kame!!!
