I studied criminology and one of my professors had us do Grimm's fairy tales and we were going to choose whichever one we liked and solved the crime that was involved in it and I did Little Red Riding Hood so I'm really enjoying this version. Mine was great I got an a (smile) fairy tales are supposed to entertain you when you're young but when you really think about it they're pretty morbid especially the brothers Grimm's fairy tales. The majority of the majority are basically horror stories and we're originally meant for adults not chilidren.

I don't know what's the point of the exaggeratedly long intro, the murder solving theory in the castle, until the plot twist at the last 20 minutes. I was expecting more since this has Kanna Hashimoto in it. But turns out meh. I don't get the morale whatsoever. What justice they're trying to explain I don't get it.

Lucas Alejaga Sep 16 2023 9:49 am I know this classic fairytale characters for a long time and in my opinion, Once upon a crime does a unique and interesting twist on the fairytale genre of female characters. The plot twist should have been crazy but not to spoil, it's a great whodunnit mystery film that will make you keep on guessing who's the killer in the end. 8/10

A twisted tale of Cinderella & Little Red Riding Hood. I love this mystery comedy of twisted fairytale.

Despite the storyline, there are many meanings to the whole plot. I love how they emphasized that beauty is not everything. Totally true to today’s society where people go for plastic surgery and non-beautiful people (who are not even ugly by a long way) gets criticized and ostracized by others.

I will say that this is a great show even for kids, to help learn about morales in life.

Hoping there will be more similar movies in future!

P.S: Kiritani Mirei was a huge surprise in this movie! Missing her so much since she stopped acting after her marriage. I was so ecstatic when I saw her! (even if it was only for a short while)

ocha Sep 15 2023 2:01 am I personally think that the movie was a good tale that's not loyal to the original works, and as mentioned, it's based off a novel that takes the original Cinderella and Red Riding Hood then twisting into its own detective tale, which explains its atrocity. It's a good watch if you're looking for something light and not too serious for a movie. Nothing is over the top but it is also not a stellar movie looking to get a prize. 10/10 for the visuals of course, and plot wise maybe a 7/10 for (as mentioned before) its nothing too serious that's trying to promote a certain moral value or life lesson.

p.s. best to watch with lower expectations and for the purpose of enjoying the movie as a stand alone piece of work

Dolores Gonzalez Sep 14 2023 8:43 pm I’ve been fun of Cinderella story. My children and my grandchildren watched different stories of Cinderella wishing to be a princess. This movie murder the mind and the dreams of every child. I will not let the children to watched this. Not to be share. Sorry…..It’s a confusion and a dirty mind might still in the mind of young girl. I feel upsetI watched this movie. They twist it into garbage. Very sad.
