A fake detective, Oh Il-Seung (Yun Kyun-Sang), punishes evil and regains his real life.

Kim Jong-Sam was framed for murder and received the death penalty. He has been in prison for 10 years, but he breaks out of prison. Circumstances leads him to take up the identity of Detective Oh Il-Seung and he joins a team of detectives including Jin Jin-Young (Jung Hye-Sung).

The actors played good role and there were little comedy that made me not so scared. What I dislike: The music when Song gil choon is appeared to scene is SOOOOO creepy and that's like the only thing I'm complaining about, well I just wish they had taken out song gil choon bc he is so psyco and it scares me but otherwise it will be so boring. I recommend watching if you understand korean well and if you are mystery fan.

kpopandgrime May 30 2019 10:04 pm really enjoyable drama, although is 40 episodes I finished it real quick. it has an amazing cast too including the male lead and female, however Yun Yoo Sun deserved some kind of award for her work. She really is a top class actress.

Action? But i didn't see much fight.. comedy romance? But i didn't see any romance or funny scene. All the expressions are flat and i don't get the story. It's boring..

Jan 20 2019 10:36 am I just watched this drama for four episodes.. and wow this drama is amazing, this is a crime drama but there are some funny scene, which won't make the viewers always tense. What makes me don't like about crime dramas is when an innocent people got framed by criminals, really can't stand it. But it will make happy in the end when the truth finally revealed and the criminals get caught and die. Watch the way Yoon Kyun Sang oppa runs is really funny.. i will watch this drama till the end.. really interesting drama. Too sad this drama has low rating.. it's worth to watch.

Simglo Feb 12 2018 11:49 am I usually wait for a drama to end before I start watching it so that I can binge watch it; but because of Yoon Kyun Sang I couldn't wait for it to be done and actually this is the only drama that I watched RAW; I just couldn't wait for it to be subbed, which I have never done before. So I ended up watching each episode twice.

I admit that the script, although it started out strong, sort of faltered at times. I am thinking that the screenwriter didn't actually have Yoon Kyun Sang in mind when they wrote it. As others have mentioned, his size is a factor in this and that was not taken into account. This is totally the writer's fault, I don't think the director could have done anything different given the material he was given to work with. The writer simply went overboard with the idea of giving the hero character too many flaws and weaknesses, to the point of not even making sense, given the actor who ended up playing the character.

As always, Yoon Kyun Sang delivered a solid performance and it was a joy as well as amusing to watch him deal with a character that is so unlike any of his previous characters. In contrast to this drama; I think that the character of Hong Gil Dong in Rebel was specifically written for Yoon Kyun Sang and he was 1000% excellent in that role. From what I saw, I do think that he had fun portraying Kim Jong Sam/Oh Il Seung, so that's ok.

iwm Feb 11 2018 7:40 pm Jung Hye Sung's character was really pissing me off whenever she got mad. First off, she kept on jumping to conclusions, made me wonder how her character became a cop. Secondly, when she did get mad, the acting of the grabbing, etc. was weak and really annoying. But I dealt with it, since the rest of the drama and characters/actors were relatively okay.

I actually liked how "messy" everything got in the middle since it made it more interesting. It wasn't even "messy", LKH/LGH would've gotten away with his crimes since he has the money and power to do so if they didn't do things the way they did.

BUT they didn't show what happened to Lee Kwang Ho after he was arrested even though the entire drama surrounded him and the crimes he committed? And @Andre and @Lukas, wtf are u even saying?

Since neither of you can put a proper sentence together, the drama obviously didn't make much sense to you that's why you're insulting Kim Jong Sam, but he didn't do anything dumb or stupid?

The dude was in prison for ten years and in those ten years, that's when technology became what it is today. You expect him to know everything right away?

@JP Again, ten years in prison, even if he tried it would've been useless since he would still be weaker than them since he doesn't know how to fight. Though his physique might've been large, the henchmen could've taken him down easily.

JP Feb 03 2018 10:02 pm Yoon Gyun Sang always does a good job, but I'm very bothered as to how his character has been written. He's a big guy and every time he gets threatened by the thugs, he doesn't even try to fight back. I don't know if I will stick with the show if this doesn't change, its just to frustrating to see him lacking the ability or desire to fight off his attackers. He always gets tricked in some way and then beaten up. Why does he keep believing the promises these people make to him when they have betrayed him and tried to kill him or his friend several times. The drama's over and it can't be undone, but I think the writers should have made him more proactive in defending himself. I'm hoping he becomes a bit more aggressive as the show progresses. I can't stand the bullying by the people in power and their henchmen.

I dropped this drama because IMO the MC is getting is too fkn cocky and I was irritated, he thought he's the most smartguy and won't wrong, in fact he's fkn ridiculous also that's one of the reason that he lost his brother and best friend, Ddakji. I really don't get it why Korean writer still using this kind of personality as MC? don't they learn from previous dramas?

mike Dec 30 2017 1:23 pm Started off great but somewhere the director/scriptwriter decided to play the all-powerful antagonist and idiot protagonist that its almost laughable that certain scenes can't be called as "secret" anymore.

A waste for the female lead in this drama seeing how great is her acting but 15eps into story she is still a side-kick.

The rating perfectly shows how uninteresting this drama is.

skypilot Dec 29 2017 2:23 am A great show, with priceless moments between Kim Hee-won and Choi Won-young. I love the ease of their scenes. They play off of each other beautifully and I hope they see increasing amounts of shared screen time.

Park Sung-geon is another favorite of mine. His character’s ever-more-relaxed, buffoonish, and demoted progression is pretty comical, at the same time that it retains its lethal villianery.

After watching Yoon Gyun Sang's, The Rebel and Joo Won's, Good Doctor (which btw are two highly recommended) it took me quite some time to find a series that i like. Lo and behold it's actually this series, it hooked me straight away :D it's awesome, really awesome especially those plot twists hehe.

Un modeste admirateur Dec 14 2017 11:05 pm "Doubtful Victory" is currently my favorite drama in the underdog category. I say underdog, because the production crew is clearly working on a tight budget. I think the biggest sponsor of "Doubtful Victory" is a pizza place, because we see the police detectives opening pizza boxes all the time, and one of the action scenes happens at this pizza place. But the tight budget, rather than being a flaw, highlights even more the redeeming qualities of this drama. The script is incredibly smart and creative, and its starting point reminds me of the French novel "The Count of Monte Cristo". But the script has even more twists and turns than the novel, as the lead becomes a police detective, rather than a count, and gets to solve cases, while still being chased. Many of the actors and actresses, including Yoon Gyun-Sang and Jung Hye-Sung, are new faces for me, yet leave a strong impression. Overall, this drama manages to make the best out of its initial constraints.

Yoon Gyun-Sang is perfect playing his part just like he was in Rebel. It seems movie like this suits him. He also has great chemistry with Jung Hye-Sung. I love everything about this show. Pls people stop complaining and enjoy.

walts Dec 06 2017 12:37 pm @black k-fan I agree that the old lady was saying racist comments about non-Koreans/“illegal aliens” but I think the writer/show producers made it a point to do so to highlight the racism in Korea. There is a very heavy level of racism that non-Koreans face while living or visiting there. If you note, Jin Yeong the female lead told off the old lady that these “illegal aliens” are people too. They are just there to make a living and support their families. Everyois human, no one is greater than the other. I personally commend the writers for addressing that issue because of how prevalent this race matter is in Korea today. ??????
