Plot

Mok Sol-Hee (Kim So-Hyun) has a special ability that allows her to distinguish whether people are lying or not. She hates her ability and views it as a curse. Because of her special ability, she is unable to trust anyone. Mok Sol-Hee gets involved with a murder suspect (Minhyun) who insists he is innocent, but nobody believes him.

I am very choosy when it comes to kdrama and I am not into romcom but I just tried to watch this. Its really good and I like this romcom. The only romcom that Ive watched this year so far. It's uniquely refreshing with mixed of romcom, mystery and a little thrill. The chemistry is good. Congrats to the team. And it became so popular overseas. This is also so popular in my country and ive got to know the lead actors and directors in bts.

Khanh Nov 06 2023 11:13 am Supporting characters super annoying, they are selfish, act without thinking alot. I only like staff from tarot coffee, too bad they don't have many screentime, and the drama spend time to show other annoying characters. They are "good" people, but the way they act so annyoing. And the drama just overacted about the male lead wear mask when walk on the street, feel too much and overacted! Korean society wear mask alot when go on the street. Also the drama overacted about the crime in the past. Just a girl from a little island missing, how could everybody know and angry in the present? Aside from that, both lead is nice, really like the female character, she decide to trust her lover, which really nice. Although they really lacking chemistry between them. If they remove like 2/3 supporting characters, the drama could be better than this now. The twist is fun, although I feel lacking something. I don't like the ending that female give up her carrer, wasting her ability.

It's my first time also to watched all the behind the scenes in tvn YT. I really2x like their team. It's so funny and everyone enjoyed the making of this drama. The best Team and the best show. Really recommend this kdrama to everyone. Its a comedy, romance, mystery. You will surely enjoy this kdrama

I finished them up a week ago and funny thing is even the director cannot move on from them. Yourkdramarama Sep 24 2023 10:26 am I understand that people may have two different camps in seeing how Min Hyun’s acting on screen but I strongly, i repeat, I Strongly, believe he delivers of what Do Ha/ Seung Ju is supposed to be as a character. His awkwardness but direct personality shines through his acting. He perfectly portrays how years of distrust actually shaped him as a person and that is why trust is really the currency that he responded to. So Min Hyun, if you ever come across to this comment section, believe us that You Did Well!

The plot twist from Deuk Chan’s motive is not really the best shot, it would be more intriguing if the pas GF was really killed herself and everyone was just doubtful of Seung Ju because of the circumstances and easily dismissed all of his background an track records. It is a hard situation and therefore really intriguing to explore.

But setting aside the above, kudos to the production team who breaks all the KDrama rom com trope that I did not like: Miscommunication between the leads!!

Kdrama romcom usually spends a lot of time just to make us frustrated of why the leads does not have an open and honest conversation and deals with it cool headed. They like to throw the typical trope - I love you so it’s better for you to stay away from me, kind of thing which is so 2010 man.

Here they spent less than 2 episode of some quick truth checking and our main leads back on track without any presumption and annoying will they wont they thing which can easily drag the drama. That’s how big trust and open communication are placed in the front and center theme of this drama.

Few more details that I love as decades long of a Kdrama fan here: They did not make the ML good at cooking! ? well he did his best but the thoughts and effort that counts! Not everyone has to be perfect! And the FL is so confident and far from a damsel in distress type of girl which I love.

I do figure some gaps in writing and my guess is bcs they added some details on the spot. It may be unpopular opinion, but I Adore That Approach. It is so refreshing and that is what makes this drama extra special! How often you see the NG scenes are actually included in the final cuts, the casts and the director must have the same braincells that their humor works.

So again overall if you are looking for an easy breezy romcoms that will give you butterflies - and not the kind of I am a rich heir and therefore I am here with all my staff to save you kind of thing - go watch this! They really have the Greenest relationship in a KDrama land where you both know you need each other and you placed trust and communication as bridge to keep the relationship healthy.

They promise us a romantic comedy with a dash of mistery, and sure thing they delivered it!

So an easy 8/10 from a kdrama fan here!!

V Sep 24 2023 2:03 am Admittedly, this was a hard drama to watch. I was excited to see Minhyun in his own drama as the ML, but I should not have been surprised by his acting chops...or lack thereof. His acting was stiff in Alchemy of Souls and I hoped he improved in this one. He didn't. Not at all. I don't see what other people see when they praise his acting. What acting? Aside from widening his eyes every now and then and raising his voice, his acting is just as stiff. And, unfortunately, Kim So-Hyun is hardly any better. There is no chemistry between the two, and their kissing scenes are cringy and painful. The best acting in this drama goes to the supporting cast; they are the ones who carried the show, especially Seo Ji-Hoon and Yun Ji-On.

Fan of Yun Ji On since Tomorrow Sep 23 2023 2:34 pm Yun Ji-On brilliantly played his difficult role. I felt a little sorry for his character. In terms of acting, he was definitely a level above everyone else. The plot is generally not bad. But there are too many annoying characters like the mother of the main character and absolutely all the neighbors. The chemistry between the main characters is incredibly sweet! And in general, it is the word "cute" that can characterize the series. I hope Minhyun gets better at acting, he's quite charming. won't review it a second time, but I didn't regret the time spent.

I'm hell as sure this drama is the cutest of all kdrama releases this year so far. The chemistry between the two leads is off the charts! I have never seen Kim So Hyun with another actor having this much chemistry before. They're so natural with each other. I am squealing even in the latter episodes.

Anyway, good acting as always for KSH no wonder she's one of the brightest actresses of this era. She really studies and lives her role. HMH is learning a lot although he can't fully shake off his mage persona, he is improving and it's very apparent as the episodes go on.

As for the story itself, it's very interesting. The human lie detector plot is unique. The first episode alone will get you hooked and that plot twist was ground breaking. I would have never suspected that lol

Even the second male lead didn't get left behind. The bodyguard even lol

It's great but.. Sep 20 2023 2:22 pm How I wish the Liar Detecting Agency has more customers. Halfway through, it's pretty much non existent and the drama focus Too Much on Minhyun and his story. Her job brings the most fun in the entire drama but instead they Drag the whole drama about his murder.

He can't even act on most important moments and looks so confused all the time. Staring into space and such. As long as the male lead is handsome or considered eye-candy, Koreans don't care whether someone can't act or not.

What a huge let down.

Her husband died and she rose up and worked hard and tried to protect her son, even if she didn’t know the truth. She still believed in her heart that he didn’t do it. I don’t think he should be so hard on her.

I really wish Do-Ha’s ex girlfriend isn’t dead…I wish she could tell her story and go to University like she wished.

I do love the show but it is going a bit slow, and I keep forgetting who knows Kim Do Ha and who doesn’t.

Doha’s ex is very delutional too!! And special shout out to her brother that become a stalker and literal killer?? Hes trying for Multiple Times to kill doha eventho is not confirmed yet who killed his sister? And turns out hes part of the reason for doha’s ex delution?? Favvy Aug 30 2023 1:36 am @Susquehana90% she was obsessed with hom and didn't have any dream for her self. She was texting the girls and saying she will kill them if they contact him again, and she is always trying to kill her self. Loving someone who doesn't dream or love themselves is very hard.

 But I personally feel that if the girl is dead then his mother is involved with the killing. Because of something she said at the beginning and his friend knew she would disapprove of his new girlfriend so he told her intentionally.

Susquehana90% Aug 30 2023 12:48 am Until 10 eps, I really think that the drama to long and to weird. Do ha split with his ex but I still don't know why (about texting something then Do ha was angry). The durations were to long but they didn't use it for explaining something ambiguous.

It's not about Minhyun bad acting, It's about the role didn't suit and it's also happening with Yun Ji On role as Deukchan which worsened episode by episode.

Maria Aug 28 2023 9:59 am I really really really love this kind of rom heavy on com with a dash of mystery TV series. Entertaining, touching, funny, as well as intriguing. I also looove the strong lead female character, not a damsel in distress type which I really detest. And I thank the casting director for choosing the right actor & actress as the leads. The duo Hyuns chemistry are Amazing that I do wish they are really dating in real life by now. Funny also is how Kim So-Hyun co-star on Radio Romance made an appearance, albeit shown only on TV screen, not directly made a cameo in person. All in all, I love this My Lovely Liar. I hope it can be like Radio Romance, a comforting romcom to watch when I am feeling down. Kudos, and keep it up to all involve in this highly enjoyable to watch (including the Behind the Scenes) TV series My Lovely Liar.

He has to be shy, nervous and quiet and very soft, and he is doing that really well. His face is honest, and his eyes really look like he is in love with the female lead.

I love that this show is showing how so many happy people may go through a sad situation that makes them change who they are and hide away from the world. Mok Sol hee doesn’t trust the world because of so many lies, and Kim Do Ha doesn’t trust the world because no-one believes he is innocent.

I hope people will see that it is ok to live your life even when you’ve been hurt by lies before and even when you’ve experienced sadness. You have to keep going, keep fighting for your happiness. Don’t let people take that away from you!

I mean, i think that wasn't necessary to show us he has "daughter". I think he just using doha's trauma to keep doha besides him. As a new actor, Minhyun acting caught my attention since he was Seo Yul on the Alchemy of Souls. He always works hard, versatile, and do his acting well. His presence is hard to ignore! Look forward for watching more of his movies! He has a bright future.

DoHa gives second lead vibes, hurtful figure that viewer wants to treat better. And.... Last scene of 4th episode, th lyrics "run run run run" after DoHa said "I didn't kill her" and that was lie in her detector just right timing. I'll probably run for sure

Kim Aug 09 2023 1:36 pm The mother of Doha is suspicious based on her statement and demeanour in ep 4. She could be the one who killed/hurt his son's gf. DH thought he probably did it because of his conscience since it looks like he broke up with the gf (for some reason) before the girl died/'committed suicide'. Kim So Hyun always delivers and has great chemistry with whomever she is paired with. Such a versatile young actress. Minhyun is doing well with his character too and serving great visuals. Visual couples. They are my Hyun-Hyun Couple :)

I think he thinks he killed his ex because she killed herself when he told her he wants to break up with her. When he himself believes that he’s the cause, when he says he didn’t kill her he knows he’s lying and he indeed was the reason she killed herself. Resulting, in the fl picking the factor that he’s lying. You cannot always rely on a lie detector and it mostly depends on how the lie is making the person telling the lie feel. That is how a lie detector works. This is why a lie detector is not always reliable.

They have the best visual pair in Kdrama History! There's no surprise if they will date for real in the future. I think they also have a lot of similarities for real like being reserved , shy but cool at the same time , innocent . They are so cute and so good to see on screen. Pls watched this amazing drama!

We wanna see how the relationship between the leads develops but at the same time worried that they will face some trials that will cause a temporary rift between them. Now the guy has been living in fear of being labled a murder ,with all the evidence pointing at him and worst case scenario...that was his girlfriend. [She might have also comited suicide] Cant wait for this mistry to be solved.

I know comedic romance usually had weird funny story line. But this drama had many logic hole???, i only watch ep 1 i dont think i will continue watching.

Too many FORCED coincidence that do not seem natural, they dont put attention on detail ( it means either the director or editor who had bad work) only soohyun, her fake cousin & tarot assistant had legit acting.

Other than that their act like highschool theater Rate ep1 3/10

Coco Mar 06 2023 7:37 am I finished Alchemy of Souls and watched clips from Live On, and I could actually see Minhyun in this.

His previous project always portray him as someone who is sweet but frank at times. I was doubtful when I first see him in Alchemy of Souls, but half the season later I changed my mind. He is great! You can see the character's emotion playing in his eyes, the subtle change in his facial expression as well. Plus he had experience with action (he had significant amount of action scene as a double sword wielder in Alchemy of Souls). Glad to know that he got another offer for (possibly) action genre.

I am looking forward to this drama, I hope it will be aired by the second half of 2023!
