9 people from Legend Entertainment fly on a private plane to a concert. The 9 people consists of entertainers Seo Joon-O (Jung Kyoung-Ho), Choi Tae-Ho (Choi Tae-Joon), Ha Ji-A (Lee Sun-Bin), Lee Yeol (Chanyeol), Yoon So-Hee (Ryu Won) and staff members Ra Bong-Hee (Baek Jin-Hee), Jung Ki-Joon (Oh Jung-Se), Hwang Jae-Kook (Kim Sang-Ho), Tae Ho-Hang (Tae Hang-Ho). The plane then becomes involved in a mysterious crash. The 9 people survive, but are stranded on a deserted island.
4 months later, Ra Bong-Hee returns to South Korea as the only survivor & witness from the plane crash.
Notes
- "Missing Nine" takes over MBC's Wednesday & Thursday 22:00 time slot previously occupied by "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo" and followed by "Radiant Office" on March 15, 2017.
- Kang Ha-Neul was first offered the lead male role, but declined due to scheduling conflicts.
- Kwon Yuri (‘Girls' Generation’), Hyeri (‘Girl's Day”’) and Jung Yu-Mi were all offered the lead female role, but declined.
- Kim Ban-Di was first selected to write the screenplay, but was changed to Han Jung-Hoon.
- Jung Kyoung-Ho and Baek Jin-Hee cast in MBC drama series “Missing Nine.”
- Early working titles were "Gaia," "Picnic" and "Missing 9."
