Ji Eun-Soo (Lee Yu-Ri) is a daughter-in-law of a powerful chaebol family. She suddenly she becomes a murderer, who killed her husband. After she is released from prison, she tries to get her daughter back. She approaches Kang Ji-Min (Yeon Jeong-Hun), who has adopted her daughter. He is a cool as ice reporter. Ji Eun-Soo pretends to fall in love with him and attempts to marry him to become the stepmother of her daughter.

kkael Feb 12 2021 12:24 am Your classic makjang drama. 9/10. Not too exaggerated but very interesting on the same time. Watched this drama because of Yeon Jeong-Hun from 2 Days 1 Night. Lee Yu-Ri is unexpectedly also a great actress. Fully recommended for people who like to watch makjang-type of dramas.

At first, I thought it would be boring, slow-paced drama and the story would rotate to deceiving the main male lead but it did not, and daaaaaaaaaym it was even better so much much better. This is one of the dramas that you should watch now, like a now Drama. Things that I love: the chemistry between the main leads- like omg if I was on that location I wouldn't know that you two were acting and just a normal couple. that is how good your chemistry is. aaaaahh!! Things I did not like: How selfish EunSoo is. I mean, her being selfish really is the main reason how this drama started but whatever. Take-aways: It's sad to see that there are mothers who would be so careless leaving their children alone, it happens most of the time however it's not published or known to the public but it happens.

For all those who doubt that it was a happy ending, it is happy ending! In one of the latest interviews Yeon Jeong-Hun confirmed that it was happy ending. So, Ji Eun-Soo survived the operation!

I have finished watching this drama few weeks ago and I suddenly remember how confusing the ending was, so I’ll give my thoughts on it. I personally think she died during the surgery. Why? Because,

1) in the last scene, she was the only one wearing white attire while yeonjun and woojoo wore black (which indicates they are visiting deceased people grave).

2) Yeonjun didnt look that happy and vibrant even he said that they are going to meet Eunsoo while Woojoo looked like she is looking forward to it (she is a kid, she can’t express her feelings that much so she must be happy to be able to see her mom no matter she is alive or not).

3) Why would he say ‘“lets meet mom” instead of “let’s meet grandpa” if they are visiting Eunsoo’s father grave?

3) In woojoo’s dream during surgery, she met Eunsoo and they bid goodbye and then that scene ended and the last scene appeared.

4) The percentage of her to survive after the surgery is very low and it’s pretty much that she can’t survive. She will likely die

In another word, yes Eunsoo died. But in the last scene, it was in Yeonjun and Woojoo’s perspective in which she is still alive in their hearts. She is still there even physically, she isn’t. This is only thoughts and probably, the ending is actually what we have seen in the drama. A happy one.

Logically we can assume that she's dead, with the whole intense surgery scene, that whole fireflies scene, and her white dress in columbarium. Yet hopefully we can assume that she's alive, with how Woojoo hugs her and Jimin smiles at her. It's not like the dad and daughter shares hallucination in such simple ending like that. Or it could be possible, but still, I consider it as the wildest possibility.

which side am I leaning more towards? of course deep down I prefer the "hopefully" happy ending. maybe Eunsoo just needs to run some errands first that's why she departs separately from the dad and daughter.

but I can't deny how the "logically" sad ending is relentlessly pushing my buttons. welcome to the open-ending dilemma :)

Mimi Nov 11 2020 9:27 pm The drama has some interesting points to keep you want to see the ending. However, the plot is somewhat familiar, it’s like I’ve seen it somewhere else. Also, the main leads’ love story is not believable. The writer should have elaborate more. There was no deep feelings for Ji-Min to sacrifice so much to care for Eun-Soo, knowing she approached him with purpose at the beginning. I like the main actress, but this drama is definitely not her best. I’d give it 6/10

sensible viewer Nov 07 2020 1:35 am got too makjang ep 11 onwards. It was never made clear why kim ho ran was such bitch even after eun su came out of jail. Poor story writing in this aspect. Had she nt been obsessed with eunsu like this,which we dont know why she was, her secrets wud have remained covered. Makes no sense.

This is the first time i have seen Lee Yu Ri's drama and she really is so good. Her eyes are speaking for her emotions, and she does not need to say anything for me to know what she really feel. SPOILERS AHEAD!!

For those who did not understood Kim Ho Ran's action for making Eunsoo in a pityful situation from the start, when she is released from prison, and up until the end. It is because to protect her real son Kim Woong. She put all the blame to Eunsu to cover the crime his son actually did. Some may think that why is that it even extend when Eunsu is out of prison? It is to prevent (I think) Eunsu from proving her innocence. If Eunsu were to prove her innocence (which she did) then it is a matter of series of investigation that it his son Kim Woong wilk be proven guilty of murdee. Kim Ho Ran were just making an excuse that she love her non biological son and that Eunsu lied to her (in ep 16) that she did all those actions toward Eunsu. Actually, I did not also understood it at first whent theyy revealed that it was Kim Ho Ran that was behind all of this, but all questions were concluded in the last episode that is why this drama is superb. One of the few dramas that has no plothole form me

mia Oct 30 2020 4:25 am i bawled my eyes and almost passed out in the last 2 episodes because they were too sad. i meant it. i dont really cry when watching kdrama but this is the first kdrama ive ever cried for. ji eunsu’s life and sacrifice is just too heartbreaking, nobody deserves that type of pain. the beginning of last ep made me screamed :( you guys need to watch this. if only channel A is just as famous as tvn or mbc, this drama would be a hit

I cried so much in the last episode. Really didn’t expect KW is KHR’s son. A bit slow paced in the beginning, but still got me curious for next episodes. Recommended for those who’s looking for a drama that makes you angry and sad at the same time.

confused Oct 27 2020 2:22 am I’m super confused lolll.... So is Kim Ho-Ran the 2nd wife of Jeon Ki-bum’s dad??? and is Kim Woong, JKB’s step brother or half brother....? So obviously KHR isn’t JKB’s real mom so then what happened to JKB’s REAL mom.... i wished they told us... the kdrama didn’t really explain very well to me :(

benji Oct 25 2020 2:23 pm This is my 3rd Korean drama I've watched and I have to say it was excellent and well-written. I'm a fan of these revenge type plots/drama and from past series, sometimes the ending is VERY satisfying. It's a toss-up/turn up. Anyways Lee Yuri is beautiful every time she was on the screen she reminds me of SNSD's Tiffany. Not gonna lie some scenes here in the series were so sweet and touching it made a grown man like myself almost cry and tear up. That's how good this series was! I highly recommend!

Also @Anatashya I think it went more deeper than that, Kim Ho Ran had deeper ulterior motives which Ji Eun Su called out. Kim Ho Ran was scared by the fact that Eun Su got pregnant which threatened her and Kim Woong's position in the company. She was actually mad that Eun Su got pregnant because it meant that Woo Joo would've been the next heir after Ki Beom because Ki Beom's father was the original CEO and Ki Beom would've been the next in line thus kicking out Ho Ran and her plans for her son to take over the company. She just put that lie out to Eun Su that she felt "betrayed" by her only because she was really mad and upset she actually got pregnant and was so hellbent on killing Woo Joo. She's straight up pure evil and it was why she was blaming and doing everything to destroy Eun Su for ruining her plans.

J Oct 25 2020 4:23 am Slow but intense at the same time captivating. The storyline was well written and captured with beautiful cinematography and graphics. The director’s way of story telling creates an atmosphere of delights. Satisfied with the ending and highly recommended.

The actors are amazing especially Lee yoo ri. Her eyes speaks very well in expressing her emotions even without words. I never see it coming that i’ll become an instant fan after watching this drama.

Channel A made good job hope to see more of their drama.

Jazz Oct 25 2020 3:47 am The flow of the story was really intense at the same time gentle in a way that as a viewer i feel delighted. I just watched it by accident but lee yoori made me curious. It was my first time watching her drama and become an instant fan. Her acting was subtle, natural and full of emotions. Her eyes speaks really and expressed her emotions beyond words. I knew yeoj jeong hun in the mask and daddy long legs and they even used one of its ost for this drama. I cannot believe after hearing it playing while he was driving thinking of eun su.

Looking at the characters, i love the build upmof relationship between woojoo and eun su and jim min. I never thought i would fall for them and rooting them to live a happily ever after. They made me laugh, cry and happy. The supporting roles also did a good job the same as the antagonist. The characters are weave together in a web of good story telling.

Though it is not enough motivation the way kim horan treated eun su. I just assumed her anger towards her non biological son is the reason she hated her and her child. Eun su was just an escape goat to justify her action.

I am satisfied with the ending. One of the most beautiful drama i've seen.

The writer and director are amazing with great cinematography and graphics, they made a complicated story into a piece of art.

It is also my first time seeing channel A's drama. I hope to see more. Thank you. ^^j

The story-line of the drama is very novel and well connected. The scenography is amazing! The script is well developed. And all the actors and actress carry their character very well, including the child and supporting actor/actress. Highly recommend watching this drama.

I mean she just lying that she wasn't pregnant yet.. then she left because of her husband abuse.

Is that enough reason to made someone suffering to that point?. And does anyone know the song title of the killers humming melody? The same melody as kim woong's phone ring

Lee Yu Ri & Yeon Jeong Hoon has chemistry a lot even they don't have much of romantic scene even kiss scene. They & Go Na Hee make like a real family (maybe because YuRi & JeongHoon are parents in real life and spouses to their real partner). Love this little family chemistry.

So sad this drama end so fast ... I really like Yeon Jeong Hoon so much (since Sad Sonata & Daddy Long Legs which is 15 years ago). See him in drama like this is my fave. His love for photography is shown too in this drama. But this drama doesn't show much his laughter & smile which is so contiguous. I like Lee Yu Ri too ... She is so nice actress. She can play nice & evil character so well. Can't wait for their next projects. Thanks God still could see YJH in 1N2D.

Remy Oct 24 2020 9:07 pm One of the best dramas that came out in 2020 period! It's underrated internationally but doing fairly well domestically. I really enjoyed this drama the plot line was so intense and will really take you on a whirl of emotions at the same time having you on the edge of your seat every damn episode. I'm sad it is now over because every week I was looking forward to each new episode. You'll root for the heroine Ji Eun Su throughout the series and she's not one to mess with (she has her mama bear protective of child mode on!). She stands her ground for the most part and her character wasn't annoying at all. Kang Ji Min also did great as a smart, witty, cold but still warm and caring for his daughter. These two made such a good team/couple. Anyways I don't rewatch dramas a second time but I think I actually will for Lies of Lies because it's that darn good. Loved the story, plot, OST, and the characters.

The wife got her revenge after all she's been through. Being in jail, the kids taken away, seems the world rejecting her. This is my kinda drama plot that I love. After the main lead got trouble in so many ways, she/he got help from someone "should be the enemy" but end up as a couple and happily ever after.

I love the mystery but kinda boring feel that the story is not much but kinda dragging. The mil is way to evil for trying to kill her grandchild even when she was a bb.... ..therfore i feel that she must b the actual killer. The dead son must b a legal heir to her husband but he was not hers biologically (must b a step son from mistress whatever).Rich people in korea drama got lots of mistress kids. The mil got the oppurtinity to get rid of the stepson & framed the daughter in law for a change. Now she just need to get rid of the grandaugter bcoz shes the legal.heiress. her dead right hands man must have proven that as the 3 genetic reports still stuck not taken at the lab after his death

Being physically abused by the dead husband and tortured by the crazy mother-in-law are really pitiful which also happened in real life. Just hope the ending is a happy one.

Superb good quality acting by all the actors,the plot moving considerably fast and so far everything is good.    I might say the writing and directing is good.

 But the subject of Trauma and wife abuse by husband/ mother-in-law seems to be a common story for wealthy people.

saranghae Sep 20 2020 12:50 pm epi 1 what a pleasant surprise i never watch cable dramas cz of so many bad experiences in the past and looking for answers why? i think is a gender problem im mainstrean family melodrama fan dramas that are hard to find in cable i think they serve minority groups only as opposed to mainstream almost all dramas that i watch are from public or broadcast networks after finishing the epi i thought this drama was very good the plot very simple and strightforward with no mysteries at all after 30 min i knew more or less how this drama is gonna end ok checking for ratings found out they were too low that something was wrong then my head clicked and i went to check for the network and i was so surprise to see it was a cable network channel a not sbs or mbc or kbs etc so how this happened it appears that the title slipped in my long waiting list by accident whoahahahahhaha but as i said it was a very very pleasnt surprise hahahaha looking forward to enjoy the next epis

A sweet, painful, but very beautiful romance. I confess that I am in love with the two protagonists and the girl Woo-Joo. I highly recommend it!

But underneath them, the storyline is sometimes a little bit cringeworthy, because the writer tries too hard to lengthen the string of sad and dark events. An innocent girl kneeling in front of her torturer, her father’s killer and baby’s kidnapper would be sad, wouldn’t it? So boom! the writer immediately stitches to the string a kneeling scene, regardless whether it’s appropriate or needed… This is my only problem with this drama, which as I said is definitely worth watching otherwise.

This is good, like so good when you felt something watching it. Ps: Lee Yu ri was gorgeous as always. Even in prison.

There are a lot of favorite actors and actresses in this drama for me...so thumbs up to the Casting Director and everyone behind the decisions related to casting.

I hope this drama scores high in ratings.

Learned of Jeong Hun from 2d1n season watching him was so funny. Loved both of their personalities while watching those shows and honestly I think they have similar temperaments and are wierd in similar ways ?.

So looking forward to see how this unfolds. ?❤️
