Ji-O (Kim Rae-Won) has a special power and a secret, but he doesn't know who he really is. He is chased by mysterious figures, while he tries to find answers to numerous questions that surround him.

Gu-Reum (Lee Da-Hee) is a detective. When she decides on a course of action, she won't change no matter what. Her parents disappeared when she was only a young child. Gu-Reum chases after the truth behind her parents' disappearance. She meets Ji-O and her life changes.

Byul Sep 19 2021 10:33 pm Season 2 please. I cannot seem to move on from this series. If ever it has a season 2 pls. bring Lee Da Hee (Gu-Reum) back and meet with Zi-O and their daughter. It's kinda sad that they didn't even got the chance to name their daughter at least.

Btw huge applause to the cast, crew and staff of this drama. This is by far my most favorite series of Kim Rae Won and Lee Da Hee, no one's doing it like them. The roles suited them.

KDlover May 15 2021 3:54 am I'm writing the script of S02E01 you cah use this haha: Gu Reum has been in coma for 20 years after she got shot. Thanks to the injections, the cells in her body regenerates themselves and she didn't get older a bit. Finally she gets out of coma and starts to search for her daughter. Meanwhile Ji O and the experiment kids spread terror around the world. After Gu Reum and her daughter reunite again they fight against Ji O and his followers together. Please bring Lee Da Hee back like that, we want to see her in the second season.

Luca has a title similarity to Indian movie Bahubali: The beginning and Bahubali: The Conclusion so I guess there should be L.U.C.A.: The Conclusion. The drama got be hooked at every scene.... To some bad-mouthed folks and haters....nah...this film was worth my time...no time wasted. Will wait patiently for season 2 but really want Da Hee and Rae won back for the second season.. I really hope so. Film preference is different so don't come here and trashtalk a drama...

Now I know why Ji Chang Wook turned down this drama, it feels like a shallow plot for me. A powerful man that is a product of science and cult's greed, he was chased becaused he's the only one who survived in that experiment and they want to create more. He was captured and they were able to conduct a new experiment but it failed. So here's the cliche and most boring plot for me, that powerful man happens to fall in love and they have a baby, the baby becomes like him. There's a surprise on the ending lol. But I don't like to have a S2, cause what would you tell us again?

I won't be super detailed on the important parts but thats just the way it is. It's too cliche already, I was expecting more for a sci fi kdrama. I don't like super dramatic and love lines, cause it will just ruin the story.

OK, given not a lot of the cast made it out alive, would only have to bring back a few, but still... Started out so promising, but ending was a bit like "lite" beer... might be satisfying while you drink it, but as soon as you finish, you feel a bit empty and let down.

Until 8 epi it was good and after hero got changed ...they could have made like living far from others .......I just simply fast forward to complete this drama.....the concept was good but it turned bad....

For example the MC's charachter, it turned out to be not so typical development. Also, I wish for s2, I want to know more. I cried in some scenes, it's a must watch for me.

The story touches on the self anointed self righteous hypocrites that think they know what's best to the mind of wanna be dictators sheep who believe anything the small amount of true good people pure kind hearts. Well thought out and deserves to be recognized for it.

Just forget the last scenes in ep8. Focus their romance scenes only. Totally hooked on the first episode and makes me want to know what happened in the next episodes. But after several episodes, the storyline becomes dull and no character development. Totally disappointed with this drama. The main actors are good (well you know RaeWon and DaHee) but the director really wants to express his trash masterpiece I think. Just mehhh from me?

As another commenter pointed out Zio could have reached his hand through the fence and untied it rather than bang on it like a caveman. This show is filled with scenes like that.

After episode 8 there is no character development, instead the characters get very, very, very stupid. They do not make bad choices because of feelings or deeper meanings, they make bad choices because the writer made them stupid in order to move the plot along. That's called bad writing. The story could have ended the same way while making sense via character development and decent writing, instead it ended this way because of bad writing and dumb characters.

Noé Mar 09 2021 5:59 pm I've so far never commented on asianwiki but I feel that I need to do it for this drama. Right at the beginning when I saw the trailer, I felt like this drama was bringing something new and different to the kdrama world that is so filled with romantic comedy and familial dramas. Here we have something in the science-fiction genre and that is so rare to see on korean tv, I had to give it a try ! Yes the show has flaws, it's not perfect for sure, there were some really cliches stuffs, and as people have said before there are issues regarding pacing and writing. By episode 8 a lot of stuffs just became very predictable and I wasn't surprised. But, let's think a little deeper ! The title of the Drama is luca "The Beginning". To me the writer has a really bigger story to tell. The first season is just a prequel warming us up for the second season which will be about Gu Reum and Zi Ho daughter. And contrary to some people not liking this ending I personally found it absolutely epic ! I really liked the idea to have the protagonist becoming one of the vilains and I was satisfied with the evolution of Zi Ho which just seemed logical to me. I mean the guy anyway has killed a lot of peoples right from the beginning of the story, and even if it wasn't something he really wanted to do that doesn't let him a lot of options for his future. Also the reason he sides with the antagonist is completely believable. I think, the people wanting a happy ending for this show didn't understand what kind of story this is. It's not a romantic comedy, the purpose of the show isn't to make you feel good and comfort you. But it will give you thrills for sure ! The show is teasing for what will seem to be the real focus in a second season : Zi Ho / Gu Reum daughter fighting against her superpowered brothers, sisters and her dad. Having her dad as the antagonist will give a really cool dynamic as well, and I feel we really don't know much about this secret organisation hidden in the governement. Anyway I feel like there is a lot of potential and great ideas there to have a second season (especially if the writing improves) and if that's really what the writer had in mind, I hope they will have a second season approved. I will personally wait for it !

Sorry for a very bad english writing. I'm very frustrated with this drama. Trailer kinda looks promising but overall the episodes very disappointing.

This drama had promise and could have been a great drama, but the writing was very poor. Characters live, die, and make decisions based on nothing that makes any sense. For example if you are writing a story and a character sets his own hand on fire instead of buying ice cream when all they want is ice cream you're going to wonder what is going on. That is what this drama is like.

Poor writing in an attempt to make some kind of plot when a plot was already there. Had they not killed off a certain girl and instead made her the main love interest instead this could have been a really unique and great story. Instead you will be left scratching your head and wondering if the writer was incredibly drunk during episode 9 through 12. Surprises are good if they make sense. Even a little bit of sense. They are not good if they are just random things that happen which make no sense.

I regret starting this drama. I assumed the writer had an idea where this would go and had a path to get there. Instead he threw things into a hat and dumped the hat into a dumpster fire and this drama is the result.

(But why her attitude seemed rendered her as defenseless after gave birth, maybe motherhood did that to her, i assume that is what happened once a woman becomes a mother, which is another example of a well-planned acting skill performance). Let's see the fourth female character now, the rep from shadowy entity. It would be hard to top the previous three characters, but we ll see. Why is it in every single korean dramas even in blackpink lisa lilifilm the movie, cars' engine always sounds like that of a 1964 willys jeep diesel engine?

The stories it tries to tell deserves 3 seasons, and a more fleshed out end. Too rushed, but that's expected with the time/space the story is given.

But then the story from there goes full action again without the "feel good" factor. Instead, full action again and well....sad to see an "open ending" and "empty ending" without that satisfying "happily after" conclusion. aaarrrgghhhh!!!! Well, let's just remember episod 8 and pretend thats the ending. Maybe that way, i would not have to tear out my hair in frustration....

Both Gu Reum and Ji O struggle with the concept of a "human" and "monster", both try their best to do the right thing but misunderstandings and enemies keep getting in the way of the truth and happiness. We see Gu Reum struggle with loss of her parents, trying to find the truth all alone, fighting in a way that only a human can. Her misunderstanding of Ji O felt very real and I applaud the writers for it. Ji O is also an amazing character that we keep seeing beat down almost every episode but he still keeps getting back up and try his best to survive. His concept of a different being trying to be normal is so beautiful and heartbreaking. All in all 10/10!!!! Love this drama!

This is not the first drama to have same kind of story line like this. - same here. I just can't think how they can unfold unfinished story in just 2 eps. I guess they really fast pace the story.

I just hope it ends well and both Zi-O and Gu reum get back together. - We really hope that! And the writer should make redemption arc for Gu Ruem's char. They really ruined her char development on eps 10. It's like eps 8 was never happened to her, how can she said those horrible word to zio. It really broke my heart!

At this stage it's very difficult to predict how it will ends. - Yes! They said it will be unpredictable ending. So, I guess scene Gu Reum's throw her baby on the first eps isn't the ending.

We hope for the best from it and wish we never waste time on watching it. - Finger cross, bro!

I understand female lead was brainwashed by the cult, police, etc but it is veeeeerry frustrating how she doesn't trust her husband after everything they've been through. It's also dumb on her part to trust the villains. When is she gonna realize who killed her dad? Hopefully it's soon. Zi O deserves a happy ending after living a sad life.

This is terrible writing. I hope the female lead dies along with everybody else and only Zio and his daughter survive. This is just dumb. I've never been so angry and annoyed at a drama in my entire life. And I'm not saying that because it's not going the way I hoped, I'm saying that because this is legit really horrible writing that makes no sense and has terrible characters. They killed off the one good character - the girl with the red hair - and we're left with this hot mess.

I am that old and a cinemagoer since godfather movies in the 80s, but never before has i watched killing scenes that realistic in tv dramas, not even in big budget movies like the ones in ep 9. I could feel that lust for revenge, when he asked z-o, is he his friend before the whacking. The bloody face visuals are also so real. The dried blood drip angle in the bad cop's face is realistic. Awesome works by the make-up artists. I dont need suspense cinema movies anymore!

It's an engaging drama and I've been watching every episode. The violence in the drama content is kind of emotionally and mentally distressing, though.

His facial expression says it all based on the situation he is portraying in every particular scene. I've watched his previous drama (Doctors) and I love it!! I like the female lead Lee Da-Hee though I did not watch her previous drama or movies. Overall I love this drama and I will definitely watch this until the end!

Gu reum character somehow little bit illogical. It’s like she’s the one with superpower. After been beaten repeatedly. Fighting enhanced human. Hospitalized everytime, scene where she got hit in the head while the last scene also told she has fractured skull kind of illogical. How can human being survive that. But still, it’s a drama, and it’s okay.

Ive read somewhere about the theory that some human born to be direct decendant of extraterrestial being (swimmer who inherit genes from mermaid), (speed runner inherit genes from centaur) and so on. So..the idea used is the same here, Z-0 have all this diff genes in him-Last Universal Common Ancestor. Okay..this is the part that I dont get You need to capture him and knowing his capabilities, why does smart scientist didnt create a chamber to contain him but merely just send 3 people, a van, injection shot and cable ties? You are not kidnapping vulnarable woman or kid here..its freaking superpower human Z-0! Even watching X-Men, when they capture certain mutants, each of them was contained in diff ways that disable their ability to use their power (read-magneto chamber were all plastic). Secondly, its just tooooo much of chasing around that its actually exhausted to watch. Thirdly, if those scientist creatd him, wouldnt it be better if they treat him well like a parents treat their children..he will stay loyal, kind and feel gratitude..he will never run away in the first place.

Anyway, Im down to eps 4..will see how it goes.

She’s not even a superhero...she got hit in the face/head with fire extinguisher and she didn’t budge; she was thrown to the wall here and there she could have break her bone but still manage to get up. Is she made of steel? Considering the guy she’s fighting against with is has more enhanced strength and ability. While the male lead who is supposed to have special power had endured more fighting against that guy bad guy.

This series is so pretentious. They also got overboard with the action chase scene.

Hope the rating will keep on rising because this is a worth watching drama.

Kind of reminds me of "Blade Runner", except that, instead of androids, we have humans that have been genetically augmented. Also, exceptional acting from all the cast. Lee Da-Hee, in particular, is a true revelation. This is the first time that I see her in a lead role, and she shines like a raw diamond. Unless producers are blind to beauty and talent, she will get many lead roles from now on.

Hyena Han Apr 19 2020 3:06 pm When this drama was looking for a female lead actor as a partner of Kim Rae Won, i was thinking about Seo Ji Hye because i was curious about the chemistry of both since they had played in the same drama (but not as a couple). Suddenly there was news that Lee Da Hee was chosen as the female lead. Greattt! I think this will be one of the best couples in a thriller. On the one hand, Seo Ji Hye also got the main character in another drama to be paired with Song Seung Hun in a romantic drama. My God... I like both of them and I love seeing my two badass women get the chance to be the main cast. PD-nim didn't make the wrong choice, they both had a charming talent and aura! Good luck for them.
