Set in the year 2071, where the world has been decimated by toxic air pollution. Only about 1 percent of the population has survived and a strict social class now exists. People rarely leave their homes and, when they do, they wear gas masks due to the air pollution. Citizens rely heavily on parcel delivery service for their needs. Delivery drivers, known as knights, delivers the packages and also protect them from thieves.

Knight 5-8 (Kim Woo-Bin) is a legendary knight. He is also highly skilled in physical combat. He happens to meet boy Yoon Sa-Wol (Kang You-Seok), who is a refugee. Yoon Sa-Wol dreams of becoming a knight and he admires Knight 5-8. Seol-Ah (Esom) is an officer in the Defense Intelligence Command. She saved Yoon Sa-Wol’s life and takes care of Yoon Sa-Wol like he is part of her family. Knight 5-8 helps Yoon Sa-Wol become a knight.

King Pup 1722 Nov 19 2023 12:01 pm At only 6 episodes, Black Knight zips along at a pretty quick pace. Well, the story line is arguably a bit light and simplistic, but it’s based on a webcomic and we shouldn’t be expecting it to go into details with 6 episodes. I’ll say the action is crisp, the cinematography is sharp and it’s easy to follow the storyline unlike some Korean dramas where you have to mentally construct a who’s who relationship diagram in your head to keep track of all the actors and actresses and how they’re related to each other in the series lol.

Yup Jun 19 2023 9:43 am I wish they would have spent more time building a believable world. Or ateast explaining the setting a bit more. How can they still have cell phones? Why do people wear suits? Where do the cigarettes come from? Do they still have McDonald's too? I have many questions and it felt like the technology was really advance. Kinda boring, I had a hard time appreciating the setting. Too many things made it seem like a modern world.

Debbie Jun 02 2023 10:19 pm Loved the show. I could listen to Kim woo Bin all day. I was sad to see that he didn’t have more dialogue. But show was Fab. I watch a lot of S. Korean shows. This is one of my faves. I prefer the Korean shows to all the other ones. I like their language. I like that this didn’t have any sex in it. Korean shows are all about the story. Good on them

But the story is 2/5, maybe due to episode length restriction but the premise is somewhat ridiculous already. Just personal opinion - I really dislike the character Yoon Sa-wol since he has close to no manners. But I guess it's not that weird knowing the world is close to ruin.

They could have built out the world, the characters and the story a lot more. I don't know why it was only 6 episodes but I feel like it could have been at least twice that. I also enjoyed the action but I think they sacrificed some of the story to fit more action in. Yeah, it could have been more.

kdrama enthusiast jae May 26 2023 10:15 pm i really liked sawol's commitment in the deliverymen competition tho. it really showed how much he dedicated his time to train to reach his dream goal. the competition scenes were honestly exciting to watch.

kdrama enthusiast jae May 26 2023 10:04 pm i was excited to watch the series but it was a bit of a let down tbh. the actions scenes were fun and all and we were able to see some development in sawol's character (mainly his skills tho) and maybe other characters too, but not much thought was really put into the scenes. what i mean was the scenes are really straightforward. while it is a good thing that it's straight to the point, it makes the series a bit boring. everything happened so fast and i think we could use a bit more scenes of (SPOILER ALERT ⚠️) sawol being a deliveryman before he join's 5-8 against cheonmyeong or maybe show the bond sawol has with the other former-refugee deliverymen. i think the series would have been better if the series was made a bit longer, maybe 8-10 episodes to really showcase the plot. i'm not saying it's bad, it's just that the idea of the plot wasn't executed that well. i'm not being biased here just because the cast has woobin. the cast really did try their best tho and if you're curious to see the series, i'd say go for it.

presley May 24 2023 8:44 pm this drama had a lot of action but was pretty boring. i mean it was entertaining enough for me to finish it but there wasn’t really anything that stood out other than woobin being in it lolz. i was really excited for it so it’s kinda disappointing, but it’s short so if you haven’t watched it yet i’d still give it a go. also i think it could’ve been wayyyy better if it had more screen time and was able to develop the plot a lot more. good idea, just not executed well.

I like stories where women have strong characters as the main characters. but why in the movie, sa wol is played by a man??

Deliveryman 9-1 May 13 2023 3:09 pm I had high hopes for this one after I heard KWB signed on a year ago. Sadly the drama delivered disappointment.

There was such of lack of care with the script, it had to choice but to yield weak characters. When i say weak I mean lack of substance. We got face-value characters. I was not attached to any of the characters. They tried to build a backstory for the lead but that fell flat. The villain was not villain enough. The drama tried to sell us this sad and unjust dystopian world, but it came off as cheesy ho-hum caring, instead of really pulling at our heart strings. So it felt like I was forced to root for the good guys cuz well I was told they’re the good guys, but honestly I couldn’t care less if they lived or died.

The writing was just bad. So many “why would they do that?” And “how’d they get away with that?” ridiculous moments. Truly lazy writing. Also too many slo-mo scenes, you’d thought John Woo was directing this.

It could be better if they added more episodes to show 5-8’s back story, as to why he became the legendary deliveryman. Same with Sa-wol, the back story behind him being a mutant will not hurt us. If in case they decided for a second season, I hope they will include that. But overall, the series is good. Never thought Song Seung Heon will portray an antagonistic role but he’s good in it. Kim Woo Bin and Esom were great. Scene stealer for me is Kang You Seok for portraying Sa-wol. Lee E Dam caught my attention as well as 4-1.

Norik B.C May 12 2023 9:21 pm Okay binged it, because of Woo bin . Sometimes when watching a drama , I wish the lead was played by other actors ,but that was not the case here, Woo Bin was the perfect choice, match made in heaven, lol . Just loved it. Bravo .

As for the storyline , the focus seemed to be one sided , the violence aspect of the story,  understandably so of the war like situation, however , I would’ve enjoyed more character development  of the cast , specially with woo bin’s character. Hope second season would do that .

thrillme May 12 2023 6:38 am Casting: 9.5 Visuals: 9.5 Plot: 9.0 The female roles were good bringing their own strength to the mission of the story. Anyone throwing a fit over Sa-Wol being played by a boy need a cold shower to cool down their superiority temper. Kim Woo Bin made a great comeback in this one and carried the weight of the series on his shoulders well. The last episode felt irritating being reminded of the covid fear mongering that already passed. Overall it was worth watching. Korea needs more knights, not predators.
