Hak-Sung (Choi Min-Sik) was a genius mathematician in North Korea. He defected to South Korea and now hides his past life. He works as a security guard at a high school. There, he meets high school student Ji-Woo (Kim Dong-Hwi). Ji-Woo is about to give up on math, but circumstances leads Ji-Woo to ask Hak-Sung for help. Hak-Sung reluctantly agrees to teach math to Ji-Woo. An unlikely friendship soon blossoms, while Ji-Woo's understanding of mathematics broadens, but trouble looms at the high school.

Just discovered this gems Jan 14 2023 8:38 pm Why did I just discover this movie?! I especially liked the 1st half of the movie..the journey of the boy try to persuade the guard to teach him math..the 2nd half focus on the past of the guard so it become quite emotional and I love the simple closing..

The film presents how appearances can be deceiving when a gifted student realizes his school security guard can be his educational mentor. Following a journey where being intellectually gifted requires emotional growth, support of friends and taking on moral challenges in order for all to benefit. Excellent.
