Yeol-Mae (Jung Yu-Mi) is a 33-year-old music director and Seok-Hyun (Lee Jin-Uk) is a 34-year-old scenario writer. They met when they were children and grew up together. They eventually began dating each other. After going through 5 separate break-ups, they are now back to being friends and neighbors who live next door to each other.

Yeol-Mae and Seok-Hyun decide to continue their intimate physical relationship, but deny they have any emotional attachements to each other. Not long afterwards, Ji-Hoon (Kim Ji-Seok) falls in love with Yeol-Mae. Yeol-Mae also finds herself falling for Ji-Hoon. Meanwhile, Seok-Hyun sees Yeol-Mae and Ji-Hoon together and realizes he is still in love with Yeol-Mae.

CV Apr 17 2020 10:26 am The story is quite similar with Discovery of Romance. But DoR is way more well executed than this. I love the actors here, Jung Yumi and Lee Jin Wook are two of my favorites actors.. but i think the script and the plot aren't good written.

semperlei Nov 07 2017 7:31 am awwww...this is a very good romantic kdrama... it's really all about love and relationships... tho you have to be open minded if you watch this since this is so westernized...this kdrama gave me another 2nd male lead syndrome.. my heart aches for shi joon... :( waaaahhhh i do hope he was really chosen... overall i really like this kdrama... tho i like the i need romance 3 more ....maybe because i want shi joon so much hehehehe

ellie Oct 25 2017 8:41 pm I think out of the 3 IN NEED OF ROMANCE dramas this was my favorite. I won't say its perfect, but real romances are never perfect. I loved Lee Jin-Wook's character and Kim Ji-Suk...this has to be my favorite of all characters I've seen him in. True, he can be funny and the giddy romantic..but in this..he was so genuine and I definitely I know what coffee shop I would be going to, if I lived in this drama. I loved the atmosphere, the interiors, where they worked, liked to play..and of course, the soundtrack.

The characters were so fleshed out and although I didn't like the way it ended I understand what kind of romantic story they were going for. I think it captures love perfectly- that love is irrational and imperfect and that it's bittersweet. You had the practical couple, the idealistic one and the passionate one. Loved this drama and would watch again A***

christina Aug 12 2015 8:34 am I kind of agree with kpopping's comment. Seok-Hyun is very weak and doesn't deserved what he had. On at least 2 occassions he said once he made up his mind, he doesn't change, but he did. And because of that Ji-Hoon was so unfairly treated. Actually every characters on the show plus the writer are so unfair to Ji-Hoon. After this, I've finished all 3 of Hyun-Jung's INR series. Not to elaborate but, I realised that there are many similar traits in all the 3 series.

I didn't understand the point of this story. they actually fought over useless things for 12 effin years!! Why?! are they that stupid? the story got dragged for the longest time. i do love the actors. it was the writer's problem. It's so messy@!! But I love all the actors and they did their bests. I didnt like the ending at all. I dont get the "opposit of love" thingy. I'm sorry I just had to post this nega comment. :( wooh

I really like the music or songs of this series. they are all very nice melodies. and very suit to the situation of every scenes. isabelle Jan 24 2015 10:59 pm i agree with bellina，seok hyun's love for yol mae ispure， he really cares for her，deeply in is heart he is in pain to hurt yol mae . i love the ending of this drama. and it really entertains us. miss the drama like this ， where it is not like other korea dramas which always bring the story of chaebol (luxury life of the rich family)，kind of bore to it. well，i wish to see i need romance 4 in d future with the lee jin wook and yool mae again:-D

I loved the first I Need Love, but hated the ending. Not going to waste my time watching another lead female throw away a great guy over the old one with tons of baggage. What a shame!

Cathy May 21 2014 1:40 am The ending is GREAT. Second lead will always remain second lead and will definitely not win the female lead. I like both Seokhyun and Jihoon but this story is basically Seokhyun and Yeolmae's story. Jihoon is just one of those ex-boyfriends Yeolmae had, but was the best and the most painful breakup. But the destination is always Seokhyun, not anyone else.

Catherine May 21 2014 1:30 am I think this series is really awesome. I usually like to fast forward any scenes that are boring in every drama,but I didn't have a chance to do so when I watched this, not once. Instead, I re-watched this series for I don't remember how many times.

About the ending, I love it this way. I mean, if in reality, I prefer a man like Jihoon. But this is Yeol Mae's story and she has spent way toooooo much time with Seok Hyun in her whole life, and that is impossible for her to love Jihoon more than Seok Hyun. It is just a temporary hot burning love that she feel. Indeed Jihoon is the best of all Yeolmae's ex-boyfriends, but he is only one of those who passed in her love journey, and Seokhyun is definitely the destination of that journey. And second lead will always remain a second lead. No matter how much you like the second lead, he will not win the female lead in the end. So don't expect the wrong way. It is not fair for Jihoon, but he knew it from the start about Yeolmae's past and he's the one who willingly try dating with her.

Lead female was immature and selfish in my opinion and she used Shin Ji Hoon just to repress her fickle feelings.

Poor Ji Hoon.

thanhle Feb 08 2014 2:42 am Although I like Seokhyun more, I think Yeolmae should end up with Jihoon in the end. When YM knows the reason SH pushed her away and decides to come back to him, I don't see any chemistry between them anymore. They seem just like brother and sister. Unlike in I Need Romance 1, Inyoung just likes Sunghyun and never stops loving and caring for Sungsoo, YM definitely loves JH and I can see the future of them. I think it will be better and more reasonable if YM chooses JH and SH ends up with Nahyun. NH is a good and sweet girl. I watched 2 seasons consecutively, so I can't help but comparing them. I personally think that the story in season 1 is much better, the 2 other girls and their relationship are also more impressive and interesting, Sunghyun is adorable than Jihoon. Just some things I think better are the leading characters. I don't like YM but I'm still fine with her. I can't stand that annoying Inyoung who always acts cute in a ridiculous way when she's not at the age to do that anymore, and she uses Sunghyun to revenge SS (although Sunghyun is willing to be used). Sunghyun is too good for Inyoung and I think she doesn't deserve him at all. I like Seokhyun much more than Sungsoo. Seokhyun is much more manly and he never betrays YM. He just acts cold and heartless but he's actually warmhearted and caring. One same thing is that I don't like the ending of both 2 seasons. In season 1, I think it's way too unfair for Sunghyun. In season 2, although Seokhyun deserves to be happy too, I think in the last episodes, YM totally changes her heart to JH, and she comes back to SH just because she feels sorry for him, not love at all. That's what I feel, and that's why I don't like the ending.

Even though I'm also a guy, It's a mystery for me why the guy refusing to marry the girl that she really love for a long time. While watching it, I'm thinking the same way as the girl did. I love Lee Jin Wook's character very realistic, he's sweet but not that showy which portray the real character of a man. I enjoyed watching this drama!..super sweet couple (Yeol-Mae and Seok- Hyun)

Consus Oct 16 2012 11:14 pm I really liked Kim Ji-Seok as the "other" guy in this drama. He is usually typecast as a lovable man-child but in this drama his character is a lot more mature. I noticed it takes some actors a drama or two to adjust after coming out of the military. Kim Ji-Seok has seemed to get back into civilian life with ease. I hope the next drama he is in he is the lead actor.

Still it will make you realize alot of things. I hope i will not be disappointed with the ending of this season.
