Ma-Ha (Jung Ji-So) is a member of girl group Teaparty. The other members are Ri-A (Minseo) and Hyun-Ji (Lim Na-Young). Since their debut, they haven't achieved much success. Ma-Ha has received some attention due to her resemblance to popular singer Ri-Ma (Park Ji-Yeon).

Teaparty then takes part in a reality TV program, involving popular idol groups participating in sporting events. Ma-ha wants to catch the attention of viewers. Meanwhile, Kwon Ryeok (Lee Jun-Young) is member of popular boy band Shax. He is well liked and is good at singing, dancing, and acting. He is also focused on maintaining his success. He doesn't like Ma-Ha, who imitates the appearance of popular singer Ri-Ma. During the TV program, Hyeok (Jong Ho) from boy band Shax gets injured due to Ma-Ha. Kwon Ryeok bursts out with anger at Ma-Ha. She also receives hate from other people. Ma-Ha doesn't want to see Kwon Ryeok anymore, but they cross paths on TV programs and while performing in a drama series.

Halu Sep 13 2021 3:58 am There is one reason why I don't want to watch dramas till the end. I'm afraid that I will feel empty after the drama is done. And I took the risk to watch this drama till the end, because it's really worth it. I started to watch this drama without any expectation, I just pick this drama randomly to be watched while eating. I don't even know about the latest Kpop idol because I stopped following Kpop since the 2nd generation. And this drama turns out to be one of my fav and I don't mind to rewatch it again and again. The story is kinda light because of the cuteness of the characters here, but the whole story is meaningful and deep. When I watched it, I can feel "hope" that they're trying to deliver to us. The songs are dope, too, even for me who doesn't know about latest Kpop's songs. Especially 별자리, this song deserves more recognition. Tea Party, Shax, La Lima, and Sparkling. I know that you are just a fictional groups but I hope that I can see you guys again. Whether in another drama or on the stage. Thank you so much for this beautiful drama. It really helps me to get through hard times lately.

For me this show, they want to show against the hardships of everyone especially to the trainees and small artists. For me, this show would like to open the eyes and minds of all people to the hardships of each and everyone especially to the trainees and small artists. From trainings, failures, malfunctions and even dating. I hope more people would normalise idols who are dating just like regular people . :) Love all the tracks this drama produced esp the last one.

Started watching it's the first drama where Yunho is part of the main cast but now I'm rooting for C&D couple (LeeHyun & Ri-A) because Ri-A seems to know her worth and I am absolutely living for that. I saw somewhere that Yujin (Yunho's character) has stalker-ish vibes and extremely creepy so maybe that affected my view towards Yujin so not entirely a fan of the main cast :P So... Lee Hyun and Ri-A supremacy :]

My fave ship is YiHyun & Ria~ Their love line is veryyy cute. Might as well becoming a Hwi Young fan after this. Minseo is pretty & talented as well. Anyway, if you love Kpop + enjoy stanning idols, this drama is kinda relatable, light & entertaining to watch. Its not the best, but still good. Imitation, hwaiting!!!

Eme alh Jun 17 2021 6:28 am I used to see the ratings of every drama before watching it. But I am so glad I didn't see the rating this time and I started watching this drama straight. Actually I started watching this drama because of Ateez but I loved loved how it portrayed the imperfections of the idol life in Korea. It's like showing behind the scenes, it felt illegal. It is like a slap in the face for people who believe that everything is perfect in the kpop industry. I was amazed by how they showed the long training years, the bad relationship between the band members even though they are stuck together around 24/7, the public relations between the idols, and most importantly the saesangs and ETC. I can't see the kpop like I used to before watching this drama. The industry is good at hiding things. There is a very deep world behind the cameras. I wished that they showed two episodes per week instead of one only :(!

Come on, not all K-drama fans have interest on idol theme drama. This era is already different with Dream High era. Yeah the drama is fresh compared to dark theme dramas nowdays, but I can't deny the changed they did on Imitation / copycat issue is a disappointment. The drama has not conveyed the real meaning of Imitation its creator intended. Ik this is a youth drama about dream n passion, but the title is Imitation for a reason, they should pay more attention to this issue. Rather than imitation or copycat, what FL did in drama is more to dance cover. The drama did poor thing on this crucial part.

The good changes they made are some events are relate to KPop current situation. they going cliché way that forced the characters changes just to fit them with the cliche plot. I thought the drama will enlighten the title, Imitation, but it's just like that. The loveline webtoon version is cringe but its more cringe in the drama. I personally think the drama author should have developed the original story, digging deeper into some of the parts that the webtoon lacked.

This is kind of a risky move on ateez's part, since if their acting skill is not that good and the drama is not that successful, it would mean bad publicity for them. On the other hand, if the drama is a success and their acting is good, this drama could be exactly what they needed. Don't get me wrong im not hating, i actually support ateez and I'm very excited to see this drama.

They deserve the role and personally each of the roles fit well with their personality's. I want to also say how happy I am for Yunho especially since hes playing the second love interest which is really hard for rookie idols to get casted with such a big role.

I'm glad Yunho, Seonghwa, San and Jongho got the roles and I hope they show Korea who they are as a person and as a group :)

i am really excited to see how jongho will pull of hyeok's role tho and like if they follow the manhwa then omg everything will be smooth because it was dramatic but not tiresome and it had such perfect endings for everyone and the main couple had the most adorable and wholesome relation i have seen in a while like ryoc x maha was untouchable !!

it was a really wholesome manhwa please do give it a read !!! i expect a lot from this drama.
