Set within a suburb in Seoul, a family runs a three generation old noodle house.

Notes

"Hundred Year Inheritance" takes over the MBC Saturdays & Sundays 21:45 time slot previously occupied by "May Queen" and will be replaced by "Scandal: A Shocking and Wrongful Incident" July, 2013.
Early Korean working title was "Samdaejjae Kooksoojib" (literally "Third Generation Noodle House") then changed to "Baeknyeonui Yoosan" (literally "Hundred Year Inheritance").
Filming for "Third Generation Noodle House" began early morning December 4, 2012 at a dress shop in Gangnam, Seoul. The first scene filmed involved lead actress (Eugene), as her character Chae-Won picks a dress for a company party held by her husband's employer. Chae-Won has a scar on her neck and looks for a dress that will hide her scar.

Meg Jul 20 2021 1:59 pm If you are Eugene fan, you should stop watching after Ep 39 because the writer essentially stopped writing for her. She just stands there uttering "What? or Yes?" while opening her eyes really wide for the next 10 episodes. You can pick it back up from 49. If I were Eugene, I would have asked the writer to kill her character off after Ep 39.

And Chae Won (Eugen) and Se Youn (Jung Jin) had making of one of the most beloved couple, but the writer quickly killed that too. And I am not sure if it's the director or the writer, but Chae Won and Se Youn basically have no physical contact with each other. They had really awkward kiss in the earlier episode and then that's it. They don't go on a date. They don't hug or embrace nor even hold hands (he keep holding her wrist). They usually stand wide apart chatting. So, it was really difficult to believe that they are so in love with each other.

Finally, I didn't know who Lee Jung Jin was before this, but I was so impressed with him here. He saved the drama after ep 39. He is a great actor, and he is also very handsome and tall. I thought he was great in "The King: Eternal Monarch".

Jane Jul 05 2021 11:48 am I became a massive Eugene fan after Penthouse, so I started watching all of her previous dramas. This one, in particular, was my favorite of her dramas. Her character, Chae Won, was just too perfect, almost too perfect. So, I didn't particular like the fact that everyone seems to emphasize how Se Yoon was too good for her. Of course not. She was too good for him. He was arrogant and self-centered, mainly stemming from his mom and people around him constantly telling him how perfect he was. When Chae Won left him at the alter (because his mom was in the hospital!), he, without telling her, decided to leave the country. He seems to have been more disappointed by the fact that she didn't give up everything for him...that her moral stance was more important to her than him. He wanted for her to give up the essence of her...her moral character that drives her behavior in life.

And, I know the ending was supposed to be happy one, but Chae Won started with one mother-in-law who was obsessed with her son, but, she, essentially, ended up with two mother-in-law who are completely obsessed with him. That is, in the long run, not going to work out for her.

I want to watch the good one show for the next episode 1 to numbers end, thank you . I hope that Chae Won and Se Yoon will marry each other and happy life . I love Chae Won and Se Yoon .

saranghae Sep 12 2020 5:07 am just started finished epi 15 the plot is ok and entertaining but the sub stories are too many and too draggy so i skip most of it 5/10 so far for me sorry for eugene but i wouldve preferred yoon ah jung by far in the fem lead role i still remember her in reversal of fate and rosy lovers

despacito May 31 2018 8:54 pm Honestly, this drama gets a 4/10 for me. It starts off so good, but just a few episodes in, it's like the writers forgot what they wrote. Chae Won is written so badly and it's all just to ump the drama. Which I would be all here for if she wasn't written as a naive suck up. Within the first few episodes, she gets framed for having an affair with a man she only met a few days before. Granted, she had amnesia, but not even Se Yoon denied it, and he obviously knew it was his first time in the country after 3 years. All the pictures that are used as "evidence" were literally only taken when they had just met each other. And that whole sequence took about 3-4 60 minute episodes to wrap up... seriously. Even before that, CW goes back to live with her mother-in-law, though she knew that she tried to kill her with kiwi (she's allergic). And when she keeps getting beaten or shouted at by members of her family, she'd rather take the abuse than go live with her father. Why? No other reason than to keep the drama going. I love kdramas. Well, kdramas that are written well and don't use literal stupidity to keep the show going. I'm clocking out at episode 9. There's no point in wasting my time if this is how the writing will keep going, which, from the earlier comments from when the series was ongoing, it gets much worse.

Arihant Jan 17 2018 11:32 am Highly addictive drama!Main leads story is one of the most epic love stories I have seen!You wish for them to be together after all the pain they go through.This is like the classic family drama-it has everything in abundance!

Performances are superlative from the mothers and Eugene looked so pretty and understated!Lee Jung Jin had to work really hard to shine among them.One of the best makjang dramas out there.

Highly recommended for the emotional and romantic scenes.

Lisa Sep 28 2015 3:27 pm A well witten script. Every character did a great job. However, the story lost power at around the time 'Chewon and Seyoon can't marry'. I don't understand the big deal about it that they are not blood related.

That singer was sooo funny! I had seen this actor in other dramas taking serious roles that I was surprised to see him in this eccentric looser character. However, his character too lost that power after falling for the girl.

Seyoon's 2 moms... those ladies were breathtakingly beautiful in Korean traditional dresss at her son's wedding in the end of the drama.

It truly touched every emotion and it's so real to real experiences in this world ruled by power of money. In this movie series I could see how live overcame the evil and touched and broke the hard hearts as those who sowed the evil against the one or ones walking in love, peace, compassion, forgiveness, and chose to stand firm in their believes that they could overcame and succeed in lives tests, and trials, and storms that can break us leading to destruction; yet theses people overcame. Knowing that love, faith, hope, and believe will always live a successful life surrounded by a peace that surpasses all understanding of the mind. I was so blessed with laughter, joy, sadness, anger, and made me look at my own self and judge me as to who I am and my believes and as do I truly love others as I do myself. Thanks for being a blessing to many. I gave your series a five star rating on my Netflix.

When Grandfatherr passed and Grandmother was standing at the grave asking how can you leave me? I cried so hard. OMG!! KDR Feb 09 2014 4:57 pm This drama caught my interest from the very beginning and before I knew it, I was totally addicted to this series. Definitely one of the best dramas I've seen and a highly recommended one too. Eugene was absolutely wonderful, she was such a sweetheart and very pretty, I really enjoyed watching how her relationship with Jung Jin developed.

What surprised me though was how much I loved from the Kim family, the evil chairwoman and the mama's boy. At first they were such dislikeable characters but as the story progressed, they became so funny and were totally my favorite characters to watch out for. They were so disillusioned in their own worlds and shamelessly pathetic that their personalities had me laughing hard every time they did their thing.

The atmosphere of the story gets really dark and tense but there is also a warm family life aspect to the story which really lightens the mood. Above all, I was most interested in the love conflict. It is so fun to see how the two main character's relationship develop while each having highly obsessive people in love with them.

herbmom Jun 30 2013 7:56 pm I totally agree with peejay....this finale was totally lacking in spirit or excitement. After all they went through, shouldn't the wedding have been a bigger deal, or at least romantic? And why wasn't Se-Yoon in the photo at the end? Very disappointing conclusion that seemed to rush to the end, as if the resolution wasn't important. The series started out so well, but it just fizzled and never came back.

I expected the awakening of Lee Se-Yoon and the scene when they are reunited again would be more exciting. There was no spark! Even the wedding was not as romantic as I expected it to be. not even a kiss! And why was he not in the 101 anniversary when he is part of the family? Does Lee Jung-Jin have another series or movie so he was not able to shoot? Well, at least its a happy ending...

I have a suggestion what if the other twist is that min chae won was baek sul joo and lee dong kyu daughter so like the hospital got mixed up who baby was who's you know then they could have a happy ending just a suggestion. I didn't like her as the mother in Secret Garden and I certainly don't like her money grubbing, stick your nose where it doesn't belong auntie persona here. There hasn't really been one moment of peace in this entire series so far. That's 40+ sad episodes spaced between a few kisses and laughs. I don't know why I keep watching this. Can it work out at all for them? How can it?

Unless she thought that he has died as a baby? Or maybe Se Yoon's mom also had a baby at the same time, and hers died, so she swapped the baby with Yang Madame's Se Yoon?

barbieyeoja May 14 2013 2:01 am I know that everyone seems to think that Seyoon's mom might have stolen him from Chaewon's stepmom and I thought the same thing too, but in my head I kept denying it because that would be just too freaking much for a drama, this would turn into a soap opera.

But here's what I believe has happened. We obviously know that Seyoon's mom stole something..in the beginning she was at the temple, I can't remember if she was thanking for her son or she was there for someone who passed. I haven't gotten any kind of clues that Chaewon's stepmom has had a child, she hasn't mentioned it ever or even hinted it. the only thing she's talked about was an incident with a guy and her being sent off to america..

It hit me...what if Seyoon's mom really is his biological mother? chaewon's step mom seems to know the womans husband well meaning that they've gone way back. But it could be that she cheated on that man with the stepmoms guy she was dating at the time and had seyoon by him. Maybe he was going to tell her or something and she did somehow he died over it? Just like I kind of think that she may have had something to do with Seyoon's past lovers death? I could be wrong, but the woman from the orphanage sent her an anklet to go with the other that seems like it was more for a bond between two best friends and not a child. I don't know, but that's what i'm starting to get..

herbmom May 09 2013 6:48 pm I started out really enjoyed this drama, but it has really slowed to a snail's pace. Crazy mom needs a lot less screen time, and a lot softer voice. Move the story along and put the focus back on the main characters.

James May 02 2013 11:17 pm Really enjoying this drama, especially the interactions as mother and daughter between Eugene and Jeon In-Hwa, a nice turnaround after the way the tortured each other in Bread, Love and Dreams. I just hope when they most likely reveal (SPOILERS) that Jeon In-Hwa's character is the mother of Se-Yoon they don't have one of these idiotic "now that we're step siblings our love can never be" outcomes like in Dear Love.

This is the first Korean drama I ever watched, and I find the story amazing, and the writer knows exactly how to increase the emotional turmoil that despite public points of view, still committed to watch the next episode.

Remember she told CW's dad that she lived with a guy when she was really young (and I think she became pregnant- correct me if I'm wrong on this), and the orphanage director told SY's mom that she is a thief? I think she stole baby SY from his biological mom. This drama is so addictive. I love it.

Just wished it was more than 2 episodes a week (^_^). Love all the characters especially the two main characters. AWESOME!!!

Those expecting early and unhindered development of of unalloyed romantic attachment of the series leads are to be sorely disappointed and those that persist to be tested for patience.

If I am correct, the environment where status and money are paramount concerns those living within those confines will tend to make quick, rash judgments that are nearly always wrong. That is, until the male lead is returned to his roots he will be a disagreeable character in the vein of the former husband of this series heroine. So prepare to be disappointed while the writers move the characters like chess pieces leading to the outcome most here seem to desire.

In contrast where there is the ideal of quality and hard work over money, even those that now display despicable, petty personal traits will like the grandmother evolve towards their better nature.

I hope to see a male character ue strong that makes you see what you lose by letting go of gossip! Especially after episode 26, this storyline is ridiculous as it seems to be going backward? This would not be a drama I would suggest to anyone, I plan to just wait until June to watch the last episode and save myself the grief from watching every episode. Lets at least hope for a good ending.

I agree that its getting out of hand and thats why they should have made it a little shorter lol. Patients is a virtue. If SY was demanding an explanation from CW, then it would mean that he was trying to patch things up and also given that he loved his ex girlfriend so much, I am very surprised that he was not even upset when Joo-Ri interrupted the video taping by declaring her love for SY and accusing his ex of snatching him, but instead he felt so touched. What nonsense are all this! Instead of building up a strong and solid character for the main male lead, the writer is actually trying to project SY as a weak and undecisive man. If he was so weak, then why did he make such a drastic decision in leaving his country for 3 years after his ex death. I think the writer is very confused with himself and trying hard to prolong the story with more ridiculous actions.

Supposingly the most well learned and gentlemen of all SY can get trapped. Joo Ri's mom should end up in jail. SY's mom should end up being exposed of her past. She can call CW a lowly life but she is a real low life herself. I dont think I am going to contd to watch this drama if the story line does not improved. The writer better wake up before the ratings dropped.

Actually, I keep hoping that SY will investigate more on the issues related to CW been framed and bullied but i guess that i better stop hoping and stop watching this drama episode by episode. Now i hope that CW will send in the resignation letter and start life without SY etc. "SY Mum is more evil than CW in law" - this is said by one of her aunt. I think this is true ... Will wait for June..

I'm upset how we see more Joori with SY its sickening. How the heck did he know where to find Joori and save her from going in that river???? Come on now lets be serious....and he goes and saves her. Now we have to deal with her being by his side always.....crap......that is b.s. I'm not watching this no more. I will wait til the end to finish watching the rest of the episodes.

I realize that she didn't join the cast until about a third of the way through, but, why isn't the actress who's playing her pictured here?

It has been 24 episodes and there is not even a bit of romance between the main cast. It is very boring. The drama will be completed in the last week of June. I think I will just stop watching this episode by episode. I will just watch the drama after the entire drama is completed.

I wouldn't taint my mouth again with something that has touched that any part of that evil, neurotic family to save my life. I don't want Chae-Won with Se-Yoon if he can kiss Joo-Ri. It's like kissing a cesspool. The only thing that would redeem this series now is if Chae-Won gets fired, makes noodles her grandpa's way, and makes it into a successful busines to rival anything those awful Chaebols own. Let her and her family live in innocent peace away from horrible awful evil people. Disgusting. I was so looking forward to things to turn romantic. One kiss ruined it completely for me. How much should I wanna watch one person take? Seriously, these writers must have pathetic lives.

I hope Eugene will never fall in love with Lee Jung Jin as his mother Cha Hwa Yun also add stress to her.

I hope Eugene get peace and happiness working at her grandfather's noodle company , maybe she will meet a new boyfriend which can be better than Lee Jung Jin......

Lee Jung Jin also has his own character problem, he is unreasonable, arrogant, conclude his own judgement, so viewers also quite upset to see Eugene get torture in every episode.....

Maybe, it is also another different form of torture, if viewers did not see Eugene get happiness in life after her divorce with Choi Won Young......

browneyez Mar 17 2013 2:27 pm I love this drama. It being 50 episodes for just 2 episodes a week is a bit long for me. Dramas this long should be 4 episodes a week and not 2 episodes a week. I love the Se Yoon and Chae won storyline. Joo ri I really don't like how her and her evil family is so mean to Chae won. We went 18 episodes of them being mean to her. I sure don't want to see another 32 episodes of them sabotaging her. Se Yoon shouldn't set Joo ri hopes up if he is starting to like Chae won. Once you open that door for Joo ri it will be hard to get rid of her. She popping up at his parents home without him knowing really is disturbing to me. She is like her evil meddling mother. I watched episode 22 today and Joo ri was nerve wrecking. She stalking her boss is a bit disturbing. If the next 2 episodes next week is like this I will stop watching until June. Then I will watch all of the remaining episodes at that time. The storyline is dragging and I'm a bit tired of watching how Chae won is being treated. I like for once to see more of Se Yoon and Chae won together then this sabotaging of innocent Chae won. I like to see more family bonding. I love Chae won family. Show more what was going on with Choon Hee and Sul Joo. There is more going on with them I would like to know.

Se Yoon and Chae won is the main storyline I like the most from the beginning. If it doesn't pickup soon and he doesn't find out about Joo ri soon I will wait til June to finish watching the rest of the episodes.

I hate how that's mother in law treat her and her idiot husband doesn't know anything and what happens to your own wife. Even those Lee Jung Ji is not Eugene husband but t least he knows her way better than her own husband. I seriously can't wait for next episode or the rest. Whoever don't want to watch cuz it was too long then don't watch, noone force to watch.

I really can't stand waiting for 2 new episodes per week, because I like having drama marathons where I watch a drama from beginning to end, without having to wait for it to air...you know, heavy doses of dramas at once (I know, how obnoxious of me). Anyway, I'll have to wait till June 2013 to watch the remaining 40 episodes, because that's when the drama wraps up, I guess. I love Eugene's chemistry with Jung Jin. Right now his character is starting to develop feelings for Eugene's, so I'm eager to see their budding love. I'll pass the time watching other 50+ episode dramas that have finished filming, such as Love Cheer (Hooray for Love), which is fantastic as well.

I believe it can be finished in 20 eps only. Characters are too many. Many scenes can be erase because it it bores the audience. I already watch the 12 eps because of Eugene is here. She's so talented and very pleasing to watch acting.

In all honesty, I watched the 12 episodes already posted online and they were very dragging. I skipped most parts. Why title it "Hundred Years Inheritance" when the first 12 episodes were focused on the mother-in-law of Chae Won abusing her and making her life a living hell. The flow of the story definitely doesn't suit the title. Please focus on why the drama was titled "Hundred Years Inheritance". Enough of the mother-in-law. Questions that are being asked are:

1. Why is it titled "Hundred Years Inheritance"? 2. What would become of Chae Won and her husband? 3. How are Lee Se-Yoon and Chae Won going to end up together? 4. What's the morale of the drama?

I think these are the very important questions to be answered. Somehow, the story isn't going in this direction. I strongly think that the writer has failed in this aspect - to reach the audience's expectations. They could have titled it "The Miserable Life of Chae Won".

Please do us the favor of cutting down on the drama and the episodes and just give us the real story. Why is it called "Hundred Years Inheritance?"

After searching a lot in internet and asking many, I came to know that these subs are available for the people who have VIA access (should donate atleast 10$ to have VIA access) in WITHS2.
