Han Jung-Ho (Yu Jun-Sang) works at a law firm. He is a powerful man and even becomes involved with the appointment of a government official. He is married to an elegant and beautiful woman, Choi Yeon-Hee (Yoo Ho-Jeong), and has a perfect son, Han In-Sang (Lee Joon). Yet, Han Jung-Ho and Choi Yeon-Hee face difficulties and various incidents after their son marries a girl they never expected as a daughter-in-law (Ko Ah-Sung).

kdramafunfan Feb 24 2022 6:51 pm epi 3 omg very disappointing this drama looked very promising in the beginning cz of the plot but the delivery sucks its extremely slow paced which is exasperating and most worst is that all scenes are done in very dark rooms where i cant see the faces so dont know who is who this is really stupid and irritant and the main reason i dont watch newer dramas cz all scenes are done in the dark same as here so this is it for me i just dumped this drama sorry fans

kdramafunfan Feb 18 2022 8:38 pm epi 1 just started and its great come here cz the newer dramas are just pitiful i started lots of them but never finished not even one cz they are so bad so am always looking for good oldies dramas and i think i found one the sarcasm is great and the plot is as dramatic as you can get cant wait when the poor family meets the rich family to solve the unwanted pregnancy this theme is very real and i know is happening in a lot of real households out there looking forward.....

skye Jul 10 2020 8:58 am Took a number of episodes before realizing an underlying message in this drama - that the good is not always good and the bad may not be bad all the time. Well played by the writer. It's a message that underlies many kdramas you can't succeed in the real world if you play by the rules. My concern is this - how would you differentiate good from bad at the end of the day? Perhaps it is worth thinking about.

WHERES THE LIE?

the actor portraying insang is insanely spectacular for this role!!

lrt Aug 05 2017 1:06 pm Upstairs downstairs Korean style!! Unbelievably good despite not having the usual romantic triangle backdrop. Traditional values are challenged with new ideas and views about the world. From "weirdo" to mainstream ...it's all through the looking glass. I highly recommend and could not stop watching.

Arihant Jun 29 2017 1:08 am Stumbled across this drama as am really liking Lee Joon in "Father is strange" and wanted to see his earlier work. Was curious as many comments have described this show as a dark comedy. Have just seen 2 eps and I have seen more happening than many other drama 's 10 episodes. And the comedy, wow! I never thought a taboo topic (teen pregnancy) could generate so many laughs. Lee joon is exceptional as a coward and how he is trying to step up to the situation.The other actors are also awesome!

CoffeeManiac Sep 10 2016 11:21 pm I was hesitate to watch since the drama is so long (lol I don't have patient for long episodes drama, 20 is too much for me but this one is 30 T.T) but whoever have the thought to watch this drama, please watch it ! it is so good. its depressing but funny at the same time. it's a dark comedy drama, full of satire. It trying to show the society among the korean, the taboos topic of the society. it's very good even the actors and actress did a very good job. Go Ah Sung is one of my favourite and definitely Lee Joon <3 I thought the drama will be full of chaebol x poor and romance and depress but it is more than that. I actually laugh on almost every episodes because it's just good that way.

TMT Apr 19 2016 7:42 pm After finishing Yong Pal, the very first thing i notice is this drama is really a work of art. Yong pal was pretty average and what annoys me most is it really was bad directing. Imagine every scene is filled with ppl in suits then comes dramatic music every single time or flash backs more flash backs and more flashbacks. Other than that why is it every single drama is like a formula A main actress gets a piggy back every single time. It tries to get emotional response from viewers while its not wrong but yo i know its drama and suppose to be dramatic but common sense and a little bit of reality is needed to do the pulling of emotion you know not dramatic music and more dramatic music and lots of ppl in suits. Okay back to this show its funny with fantastic actors that really acts and has good directing, writing and pulls you in emotional as you can relate

Priscilla Jan 18 2016 4:00 am Wow and I thought that the best kiss in a Korean drama was from Heirs. Where Lee min ho kisses Park Shin Hye in the utility closet. What I mean best kiss is like a normal making out kiss not just peck on the lips. But Lee Joon took the award on this drama. Is the first drama I seen him act in and I don't know if he kisses like that on all the dramas or it was part of his character But wow it even look like he was eager to kiss lol. Moving that on the side, it was a great drama hahaha.

The drama seems as if it will be extremely dark and depressing (I can't stand melo-dramas) but this show is HILARIOUS. It is black comedy. Meaning this show puts a comedic twist to dark or taboo subjects (in this show's case, it's teen pregnancy). It also pokes fun at melo-dramas and chaebol family/ poor person storylines. You will enjoy this drama. I can bet money on that.

Tiffany Jul 24 2015 3:03 pm I was hesitant to watch this show. I thought it would be rather slow and dramatic. It is in ways dramatic but it had scenes that had my laughing out loud. I liked that the characters were drawn out. I also loved that the show didn't just focus on the relationship of the main characters. There were a lot of subplots that made this show very enjoyable. I dropped watching the other two kdramas I was watching to give my sole attention to this one. This show is really worth the watch. I even liked the ending.

Aj Jul 11 2015 12:57 pm Interesting black comedy/satire that skewers classism and the rich, but like so many KDramas, it is bloated with too many redundant episodes that run out of steam as the writers run out of imagination to sustain 30 episodes. On the other hand, the cast is excellent, the young people and working class family delightful, and the evil doers truly despicable. The ending is okay but could have been stronger, and once again writers dodge fully punishing the corrupt as much as they deserve. Drives me nuts.

Lee Joon's acting is sooo good ... the female lead was a bit depressing (she hardly ever smiled [could have done when alone with the hubby]) .. but even so, i feel totally let down and disappointed. too many things not explained before it ended.

spoiler - the whole show practically they were talking about the law suit and we never got to hear about how it ended.

I think that the extra 2 episodes were needed and they just rushed it too much. For whatever reason they didn't air, i think it was a big mistake.

All in all i would rate this drama 8/10

A Mewes Jun 15 2015 11:36 am (comment continued) Just to clarify, this is NOT a melodrama. I guess I would describe it as an irreverent, dark comedy. For the first three quarters of Episode 1, the show has all the earmarks of a melodrama, which had me a little baffled & concerned knowing it was suppose to be a comedy. By the end of Episode 1, I was jumping for joy knowing it was going to be an awesome show!! I'm a huge fan of both irreverent comedies & well made dark comedies!! I consider it intelligent, sly humor. However, I realize it's not for everyone.

To pull off this type of comedy requires a lot of talent. Therefore, I can't emphasize enough how absolutely amazing each & every actor was at portraying his or her character. All four leads were great. In my opinion, to say simply say thay the performances of the top 3 leads (mom, dad & son) was award winning would be an understatement. It would be a great injustice for those 3 to go without the recognition they so well deserve for their flawless performances in this drama - particularly Lee Joon.

Luna Jun 08 2015 2:55 am @Suk2014 it's not a melodrama genre but it's a black comedy drama..@indo fangirl It's not actually true 100% but lee joon's friend got caught up in a situation as his in this drama sometime ago so when he received the offer&knew about the storyplot he just said yes right away.. He might be feeling somekind of responsibility to do this drama since his friend gone through such the same situation.. Love the ending i think it's the best for everyone actually.. I'm gonna miss u so bad HITR:(

bekka Jun 08 2015 1:59 am I don't think she tried to trap him. I'm on episode 2, and the first episode she told him to leave but he kinda pushed his way in her room and kissed her. He also told her his parents were just getting by and he got a scholarship to go to the camp. SO she didn't know he was rich to begin with.

kpopkitty Jun 04 2015 3:26 am I'm not too sure about this one. I've been watching and Bom says certain things that makes me wonder if she trapped In-Sang deliberately. It goes on a lot, where girls from poor families lure in guys from wealthy families, and get pregnant just so they can live the high life. And she's so young. If I had a teen daughter and she got pregnant, I would make her move out of home and I'd disown her. Many people might think this to be cruel, but life is cruel. Young girls shouldn't think that having children is the ticket to easy street. They are making life seem cheap, and it saddens me.

leelee May 27 2015 9:00 pm This drama just sucked me in. Cumulative effect of brilliant and subtle writing and topnotch acting (for the most part)..especially In Sang's parents. Hilarious solipsism! Even the cinematography set it apart from other dramas. The direction and look of the opening scenes in the first episode hooked me.

The only right way to end this drama is by sending Jung Ho to prison as for Queen Yeon Hee..,i don't know i don't really hate her actually but yeah anyway possible.. Years later, after my son finished graduate school, I had the courage to look for him. He died soon after our separation presumably, of a broken heart.. I hope parents will learn from this sad experience. Wealth, status etc.. will not bring back the son they lost.
