The way the story unfolds is incredible and takes some interesting twists in order to keep you watching the movie without getting bored despite its length. Ryusuke Hamaguchi is an incredible director and I hope people will start noticing his works in the future.

PS to whomever is reading the comments: the movie is indeed long and could result boring if you are not into the genre or this kind of arthouse movies. The movie received universal acclaim by critics worldwide (unlike on this website) and should definitely be watched by everyone at least once

Paul McCool Nov 25 2018 1:45 pm I found this film on Amazon late one night, and made the mistake of starting it. Three and a half hours later, at 2:30 a.m., I was still watching, completely taken in by the story of the four main characters. I woke up the next morning and had to finish the film before I could do anything else. While the film feels slow in places, and some of the novice actors struggle at times, it always held my attention and interest. Well worth the investment of your time.
