Tenzen Tange (Koji Yamamoto) goes cherry-blossom viewing when he sees and then holds onto Chiharu (Yuki Shibamoto), preventing her from falling down a stone staircase. Chiharu is the daughter of the vassal for the Uesugi family. Tenzen and Chiharu leave without even asking each other their names, but through the work of Kozukenosuke Kira (Kyozo Nagatsuka), they are married through an arranged marriage.

Tenzen and Chiharu feel that is fate that brought their love together. Two months later, Tenzen travels to Osaka for work and this is when tragedy strikes for Chiharu.
