Miki Domeki (Hisako Manda) lives alone in Domeki Village. She has lived their by herself since her husband died a long time ago. She is respected by the residents there. When something happens at the village, people ask Miki Domeki for advice. Her family consists of her son Toru, her daughter-in-law Yuma (Rika Adachi), and her 6-year-old granddaughter Ako (Yuzuna Kato), but they live far away. One spring day, her son Toru moves his family back to Domeki Village and begin to live with Miki Domeki.
