Plot

Hakuō Academy used to be a prestigious high school, and famous for martial arts. However, because its rival school Seishikan has been cowardly luring its superior students, Hakuō was going to decline. In order to recover from the situation, the acting principal of Hakuō; Himeko Hōjō, sends Ranko Yagyū to the Fūma village in search of the famous Fūma ninja clan for assistance. The leader of the Fūma sent Kojirō to Hakuō, there he faces the notorious Yasha clan who fights for Seishikan led by Musashi Asuka. Kojirō's comrades arrive, resuming an all-out ninja war that began five centuries ago.

Beldarius Jul 08 2019 3:32 pm I really liked this show - it was a pretty faithful adaptation of the original manga and anime. Hiroki Suzuki was also incredibly adorable as Reira (it's surprising how deep his actual voice is... there's a reason he plays Sanzo in the Saiyuki musicals).

Oh yeah, in case someone didn't know, this isn't a live-action original. It was based on a manga by Masami Kurumada, the creator of Saint Seiya. The manga and anime are 25 and 18 years older than the drama, respectively.

Maya May 25 2015 1:01 pm Highly flashy ninjas fighting each other with wooden swords, feathers, yo-yos and some conspicuous CG to boot... I admit this drama is really silly at times (the low budget is pretty obvious), but it's still highly entertaining. The fighting scenes are pretty good (in particular those of Takuji Kawakubo/Musashi, Rei Fujita/Mibu, Koji Tashiro/Kagero and Hiroki Suzuki/Reira). On the emotional spectrum, I enjoyed any and every interaction between Musashi and his little sister, Erina. Special mention also to the character songs, sung by the actors themselves.

The weakest point of this drama was that some of the cast members could hardly act. Gaku Shindo/Ryoma and Ayumi/Ranko were probably the biggest offenders, and Natsuki Okamoto/Yasha-hime was just way over the top.

ButterflyJoe May 11 2010 12:51 am This is a great Dorama, good acting by the whole cast, great story and cool characters, my only problem were the uniforms, they looked like they came straight from a boy band, to glittery, other than that, awesome Dorama, highly recommended.... Oh yeah the name of the artist for the opening theme song is "An Cafe" and the name of the song is "Ryusei Rocket".
