A Japanese man arrives in Korea to find his old lover. While he stays at a guest house, he encounters various people.

Filming began June, 2013 and finished the second week of July, 2013. Shooting locations took place around Seoul including Hwayang-dong & Jongno.
"Hill of Freedom" is director Hong Sang-Soo's 16th feature length directed film.
