Takashi Hayama (Nijiro Murakami) is a third year high school student. He falls in love with Azusa Oribe (Akari Hayami) at first sight and they begin to date.

One day, Azusa tells Takashi "people who meet me, forget about me several hours later."

Takashi doesn't believe Azusa, but by chance he realizes that he forgot about Azusa. So he won't forget Azusa, Takashi begins to leave a note for himself and Azusa.

Daigo Jul 08 2021 8:22 am My theory is, takashi was either schizophrenic or maybe yeah it's just azusa being forgotten like sakurajima mai from seishun buta Yarō. The ending was sad yet beautiful, azusa never wanted to see takashi worrying everyday thinking he might forget about her, maybe that's the reason she said goodbye to him. I won't ever forget about the story of the two of them.

I was so confused by how azusa acts the first time she saw takashi, but in the end it was so painful. I get to realize why.

I really hope there's part 2 of this movie. I just can't take the heartache i felt about watching it. I wish they had a happy ending-

Or they could do some plot twist like the real reason why she was always forgotten. Something like that.

I just can't really move on from this movie. Such a master piece. I hope i can hug the creators and the actors for a great job.

I wish there is movie 2 and i really wanted to see asuza back. I Will Never Forget You Asuzaaaaa. p.s some people say that its based on true story. i don't know about that so if you know please leave a comment cuz i'm so interesting in this movie.

Because there's also The flower with the name like the title, does the movie "Wasurenai to Chikatta Boku ga Ita 2" seem to have a happy ending in the release? R Mar 09 2020 10:07 pm what a movie.. surely a bitter aftertaste because Azusa character is so lovely (good job Akari Hayami). at first I also looking for closure, on what was actually going on with Azusa & what was the curse.. but when i think of it again, it is actually not important. the curse or whatever happened with Azusa that made her become easily forgotten by people around her, IMO is not the point of this movie. it is just a plot device, although Azusa mentioned about "time slip" in the DVD rental scene.

In my opinion, this movie trying to show the bitterness of feeling lonely ( with feeling lonely is in general is feeling "different" or left out by society around us). If you guys remember on "a moment to remember" the bitterness is coming from yourself not to be able to recognize people around you, then this movie want to show same bitterness can come from the opposite case or any other case, as long as we feel lonely and forgotten by our loved one.

AeWon Dec 22 2018 1:19 pm ..I guess azusa is a moonchild...I got to read abt moonchilds recently....and one of the blogs said that when people meet moonchilds we will forget there existence later on ...only way to keep them in mind is seeing them in moonlight...when we look into the movie we can see that where azusa trashes to the takashi's bike in the night...so takashi didn't forget abt azusa for quite sometime...I guess this kind of make sense...TT

For sure the one hurt the most is Takashi. I also agreed the ending were left for the people to interpret themselves but yeah the ending was a bitter one.

MinRin Jan 21 2018 2:46 am The plot of the story is really interesting but the ending will leave you with nothing but emptiness. They should have done at least something about the curse wherein they will all remember Azusa. That is a really horrible situation for a person. As if you just want to die because there's no place for you in this world and no one ever remembers you. To sum it all up this movie is like a half of a story and that it was never finished. Too sad.

Notice the clues given by the movie: the picture of takashi, azusa and his family; the videos that have been recorded when they're 2nd years and especially the last video of azusa. They all sum up to the point that takashi had already forgotten azusa before they even met at the start of the movie. Maybe azusa gave their love another try, even though they will start again. I need closure seriously and I believe they deserve a happy ending.

Just finished watching this awesome movie yet unsatisfied ending without curse explaination and realize the curse cause might from the pendant ???

Takashi crashed Azusa on crossroad and the pendant removed staring takashi silent with long pause(i was like ??? wtf come on say something)after i finish watching and it start make sense with the pause. She said that she suddenly got the curse end of 2nd year..at last video that the pendant was a gift from takashi on her bday when they on 2nd year so...takashi complete forgotten about azusa all the memory 2nd year they spend together..when they crashed at crossroad............. Realize azusa keep reappearing on takashi cus she love him alot T.T even it pain her, him forget all the they time they spend before the curse and seem he remember her quite abit long then other people because the pendant remove for awhile when they crashed??? @Haruki Chou at the end all takashi remember only her name when the girl say i was asked by oribe azusa to deliver message(azusa herself) he already forgotten azusa face and takashi dropped his phone and the cover removed reveal they purikura picture and just realize they girl just now is azusa...azusa leaving him to not hurt him anymore @huhuplay i think because of the debt she father cant pay and the bank taking they house and he father also have 100% forgotten about azusa but let her stay..as she mention before

Yes the girl was Azusa but she lied because even though Takashi remembered her name, he forgot what she looked like after waiting for her for so long. It wasn't till after she left and he saw the picture behind his phone that he realized he had been talking to her all along. I'm guessing Azusa was just tired of getting hurt and being forgotten by the person she loved the most so she just chose to lie to him.

This is just going to be a jumble of thoughts:

The ending was SO UNSATISFYING!! Was it emotionally touching - absolutely! It was just too much for my heart when I saw Takashi running and screaming out Azusa's name. I wish there was more explanation. Because his computer and cellphone are full of pictures of her, so he will spend the rest of his life looking over these pictures and trying to remember their relationship! It would have been better had she gone and deleted everything off his computer, but obviously that didn't happen. So isn't Takashi being subjected to a lifetime of pain? The lack of closure is real :( :( :(!!!! That being said, I don't think that Azusa is dead at all. I think they just wanted you to understand how hopeless her outlook on life is. At one point, I swear she was contemplating suicide! She is destined to be alone forever, and she literally blames herself! At the same time, I really liked the ending. It reminded me a lot of The Notebook!! Not all stories are happy endings, and it definitely made me cry!!! I'd say a solid 7/10!!! Anybody here have recommendations?!

well IMHO after that long running and yelling Azusa's name he will forget her in a few hours(this is obvious)

but, about her ending.... is she moving with her dad? i dont really understand about that especially her father's conversation in telephone (about the house????) is her dad also forgot about her or else?

ps : this is the first time i saw Akari hayami's movie when i watch her , she have a resemblence with my ex and now i miss her, dam*it

Don't over read the story! Asuza is not dead.. What happened is what happened and it is well played by both of the character. This movie genre is called magic realism (a literary or artistic genre in which realistic narrative and naturalistic technique are combined with surreal elements of dream or fantasy.A mixture of natural/real and fantasy) so there you go guys! Asuza's condition is imposible yes, it is not explained in the movie, yes again but that's the point!!! The movie messages are: in reality, people sometimes tends to forget. Or we have fragile memory ready to vanish anytime when we get older..(remember the part when the old man in the charity, talking to azusa about his wife brain condition) that's one. The second message is: many people you’ve met, from your kindergarten classmates, charity or events, have forgotten you already. That even if you ran into them on the street today, they might be able to place your face, but probably won’t remember your name; most likely they’ll just walk on you.That’s one of the dilemma that the movie shows right? (Support: when asuza tells her condition for the first time to the male protagonist, she mentioned this examples but not elaborate further right? So why is that? That's because in reality, forgetting sometimes, has no reason. You just there, oblivious to your present and to your past.time will pass and even though you don't mean it to happen, eventually, memories will fade. Especially, if it is not concern or important to you anymore. for the third message: lovers always promise not to forget or to cherish each other right? But sometimes, specially if the relationship does not work out, the said promises are forgotten. at some point, they became stranger to each other right? Or just Vanished like a bubble to each other's life..(The movie shows this! So fucking times. My fav? The ending..it has a strong emotions/feelings.so i love it!!) Hahahaha...i also figured out some symbolisms, like phone,email etc. But it's long already so i will stop..

P.s. english is not my first lang. So bare with my grammar. I just really enjoyed the movie so yah...i can't help but comment here hahaha.:))

Sonny Apr 29 2016 1:04 am Ummm.. don't really agree with Daisy's summation at all. There are too many things missing (compared to other dramas/anime) where it's made obvious that the person seen isn't really there, or only appears to 1 person. Everyone always saw her, they just simply forgot her.

But it is an awesome movie, minus the ending. I understand Azusa leaving, never to see Takashi again, she keeps getting hurt when Takashi finally does forget the second time and she just can't take that anymore. But somehow there needed to be some kind of closure for Takashi as well, leaving him running around trying to find her (remember her dad is moving and Takashi doesn't know where) is not a great way to end things for him.. Don't know how they would have done it though with Takashi still having all the videos on his laptop... Ran a little short on the film budget maybe... (>.<)

And yes this is a very nice movie, I really didn't expect the ending to be like that T.T

This is just an idea but I think the reason people can't remember her is because she's already dead and that the her in the movie is just times when her loved ones around her are remembering her. I think the movie is the process of the characters moving on from Azusa's death. Her dad seemed to be packing to move the first time he appeared which suggests that he's was trying to move on from her death as he probably didn't want to stay in a house that reminded him of his dead daughter. Later on in the movie was a scene when the moving truck come's but it seems like Azusa had no idea about the moving as well as the fact her dad didn't even notice her which showed he was starting to carry on with life again. Also the fact that after her dad moved she wouldn't have anywhere to stay suggests that she wasn't actually there when she met Takashi because over wise where would she have stayed, changed clothes, etc. Also throughout the movie she's shown in very similar clothes in each scene which could have been Takashi's faint remembrance of her style. If she had worn the exact clothes in each scene it would've been too obvious about the actual story plot. I don't know, it's kinda hard to explain.

In the movie they also say that Takashi became more of a recluse which suggests that he got depressed after she may have died. He seemed to have begun to deal with her passing and in so started forgetting the times they spent together and even what she looked like, yet later feels guilty for forgetting and so tries to remember the times they spent by revisiting the places they went together.

I think the end of the movie where she's disappeared and he's running around searching for her, screaming 'sorry, Azusa', shows his denial about her death. Still having the feeling that she's there, even though he knows she's gone.

Sorry for the crappy explanation but this is the only thing I could think of that would explain why no one could remember her. I tried looking for what happened in the original novel but without luck. Anyway, I could be wrong but whatever.

Honestly I would be more happy if the ending was instead putting an end to their love, it's somehow still possible for them to end up together again like maybe they actually go to the same college and thus repeating the cycle again and again, a la Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind. It's a good movie anyway

She also starred in Again!! along with Ryusei Fujii, and she was also cast in Subete ga F ni Naru along with Emi Takei. Try to see more of her movies, or tv series.
