Due to an accident, Sakura Hiraga (Ryoko Shinohara) gave up on her dream. She is now married and her husband runs a hair salon. They live in a luxurious penthouse apartment. Her life seems glamorous and she is envied by everyone. What everyone does not know is that Sakura Hiraga is abused physically and verbally by her husband. She is unable to leave her situation. Sakura Hiraga considers herself a goldfish in a fishbowl. One day, due to a goldfish, she meets a man.

Alot of couples go through love and hate stages amongst other things and being married to someone doenst mean he or she is your better half. It's an excuse to cheat because you found love again but you can't work on it please find a way to get freedom atleast.

The marriage dark secret that anyone would not share unless you encountered the situation by yourself. I am stunned by the actor beauty played as Masako. She is really pretty!. I rate this drama 9/10.

Lynn Dec 09 2022 12:24 pm It’s a very adult show you have to be at the age to understand the director. its scenes go for each different relationship the director always pin points so you can feel it in your own relationship especially if you’re going through it you get to understand and actually put yourself in those different scenes of those relationships I myself understood completely why each person did what they In that scenario is very very interesting again the sex scenes were long but again it is an adult show again you have to be going through something in Your story line to be able to understand

Syd Sep 28 2022 3:34 pm This drama overall was quite good although I disliked some couples. The main guy played by Takanori Iwata was really a kind character but his acting was just bad and annoying. However, Ryoko Shinohara and Ando's acting were so intense and great. Ando is one of my actors and I almost hated him because of his realistic acting. Without giving spoilers, I really liked the ending too.

Route426 Aug 26 2022 2:10 pm Came for the steamy sex scenes, stayed on Riko Fukumoto's cuteness and superb acting. Also I thought this was just a mere run-on-the-mill series just baiting people to watch the sex scenes but damn I'm dumbfounded to find myself very wrong.

The each characters are well woven especially the main cast on the main story while narrating the side stories per episode. This series is really good. It has depth and character portrayal as well as development. I didn't expect to be invested in the story but here I am writing here after I just binged the whole series in one seating.

Also, the cast is quite star studded. Most actors/actresses here are familiar faces to me as an avid J-Drama/J-movie enthusiast. Would really recommend people to watch this for the plot.

Well you can also watch it for the erotic scenes but trust me, you'll be surprised how you'll get hook on the actual story being told here.

Jinia May 20 2022 11:56 am Maybe I am going to deep into this but I found FB Wives very interesting if you use the fishbowl analogy to marriage. A relationship can only grow to the extent one expands the boundaries and it needs daily care and fresh water. Of course the "Lunchbox wife" was ridiculous but humorous at the same time. Love the fact the father made his son stand up to him. I enjoyed the acting Both writing and actress, Ryoko Shinohara, got the abused wife and husband relationship. Masanobu Andowas wonderfully B. Takanori Iwata as Haruto Toyota was wonderful to watch. I must give congrats to the writing and cutting in that the story was well told but did not drag on. Must mention Riko Fukumoto as Ran. She played her annoying character perfectly

Renwa Mar 02 2022 3:04 pm Fishbowl Wives is a spectacular breathtaking Japanese drama… award worthy on many fronts. Kudos to the screenwriters, directors & of course actors. BRAVO! This is a sophisticated nuanced knowledgeable drama about relationships, the emotional needs of women & men and why breakdowns occur. SPOILER: perhaps my age & professional background/experience let me see & appreciate this drama through a particular lens. Each episode & scene written is with intention & honesty. Graphic emotional , physical & sexual content is never gratuitous but authentic & honest in support of the raw intensity story being told. The acting across every character drawn is just superb. Ryokan Shinohara, Takanori Iwata, Masanobu Ando are clearly consummate talented actors who brought out every emotion in me. I do want to add the actor playing the carpenter in episode 7 who was a standout of sensitivity (Yuki Kubota?). Everyone else was spot on…really. With no disrespect to other reviewers who may not have seen what I saw, take another look at some time in your lives. If you’re contemplating watching Fishbowl Wives, go for it! It’s gripping, thought provoking and fine entertainment.

Frankly it is not that interesting, and they know it by filling it with pornpgraphic instances, a daring move for japanese television. For those who want to skip the sad excuse of the drama, there is always japanAV.

Kudos to Kyoko Hasegawa in the opening scene, for reminding viewers that there is eros even in women in their mid 40s...LOL.

Em Feb 15 2022 3:23 am I like that the title fits the content and vice versa. Out of 4 jap series that I've watched on Netflix, this one feels more realistic, the sex scenes aren't violent (there is a clear distinction between need, lust, passion and love) well done actors and producers. Hiraga gets what he deserves. Sakura gets her freedom, keeping her dignity and honour intact despite the abuse. Respect lady xxx The lunch box wife: good for you girl! Strange fetish yr husband has .... In any case, I can really empathise with these women why they crossed the line. Communicating is key but it seems that apart from Sakura none of them had the courage to really sit their husbands down and tell them how unhappy they are and why and if the men could please just listen and work on the relationship. I think the writer wanted to share this
